I have nothing but amazing things to say about Frost. Their gelato and sorbets can't be beat in terms of flavor explosions, variety, and the fact that they're "light" on calories. No joke, I come here multiple times a week and have some kind of cold treat here, and I am having no issues keeping my weight under control . Can confirm that the marketing is TRUE and that the calories are low. You can also tell by the taste of the gelato itself. It just doesn't taste super heavy. It's refreshing. Don't need to overdo it with super calorically dense ice cream. They have something for everyone - sorbets, gelatos, root beer floats, caffeinated drinks including "Gelattes" which is a gelato-flavored latte, "sorbettinis" which are smoothies made with sorbet and sparkling water, gelato cakes, affogatos, and more. I can always count on Frost for a delicious pick-me-up. They have so many flavors to choose from, so you'll definitely find something you love, and they had so many options, so my kiddo stressed out to pick which one he wants:) Girl who helped us, dunno her name but she was African American( I guess that's ok to say), was super friendly, welcoming, and happy to give samples to my kiddo. We got large cup, you can pick 3 flavors, we picked cookie n cream, mango and espresso chip. Liked it all, but loved espresso chip, it's hard to find, good coffee/espresso flavored ice cream/Gelato, usually it'll be too sweet, but here it had a perfect balance of sweetness and espresso flavor, definitely not too sweet, so went back again and got a quart. I hate leaving bad reviews and don't do it often, but our experience this past Saturday was too lackluster not to say anything. We came in with our 2 year old son who loves ice cream but, since he is 2, can take a while to figure out what he wants. Thankfully no one was in line before or after us so you'd think they'd be patient and friendly, right? Nope! The two young girls working the ice cream case stood there impatiently, answering our questions in the most deadpan and aloof manner, never cracking a smile even once. I don't think they even made eye contact with us until one of them said "have a good day" after we paid. Ice cream and gelato shops should feel inviting, warm, and friendly --like a place where wholesome pleasant memories are created and everyone is welcome. Unfortunately, we didn't have that experience. Part of me wondered if it was because of how we looked, but we saw them giving the same deadpan no-eye-contact service to others so I think this is just how they are. It's too bad. I don't even like frozen dessert but this gelato was AMAZING!! My first time actually having gelato in 4 years (I know I know.. sugar fast and dairy problems does that to you) but this Lotus Cookie (also known as biscoff cookie or airplane cookie) gelato flavor was SO WORTH IT! It was so creamy and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between this and ice cream. There are so many flavors and you will probably have a hard time deciding. For the small size you get one flavor, medium size 2 flavors, and large 3 flavors. Each comes with its own little wafer cookie. The gelato is more pricy (you're in the Domain NORTHSIDE what do you expect) but for the low calories and quality of gelato I wouldn't complain! They're not allowing sampling until July 1. My favorite place to get dessert in the Domain. I only come here when I have something to celebrate, because gelato is expensive, but their hazelnut gelato is to die for. I recommend it especially for Nutella lovers. But if hazelnut gelato isn't your thing, they have so many other flavors of gelato and sorbet to choose from. The gelato is high quality, and even their small (piccolo) size comes with a good serving of gelato (you get what you pay for). Their gelato doesn't contain raw eggs or butter and has less than 1% cream, while their sorbets are dairy free and fat free. This means they both contain less calories than regular ice cream. Let me start by saying, if I was JUST rating on the gelato, I would give this place 5 stars. I've been here twice (because The Domain is sort of out of the way for me. If I recall correctly I got two flavors and they were mango and strawberry. They tasted deceptively light, perfect for the sweltering summer day in Austin. Today it was a unseasonably warm winter day, so I decided to pay Frost another visit. This time I opted for the sweet dessert flavors, sea salt caramel and tiramisu. Both were incredible! Worth the trip 100%. The reason I'm rating this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the customer service. There are a million and three favors here, and the way the store is set up it's difficult to see all the flavors when others are in front of you. It doesn't seem like the staff has quite figured out a system in which one staff person can stay with a customer throughout the sampling, selection, and purchasing process. I had one person help me with samples and selection but then had to wait 3-5 minutes to pay for the gelato because the astaff was so consumed with helping others sample. If I wasn't an honest person, I think I could have slipped out the store without paying and no one would have noticed! read more

Holy cow! We kind of stumbled across this place and it was packed with line snaking around inside. I thought, "must be seriously good to attract this crowd" and I was right. The staff was really busy but really friendly and attentive. The managed the various requests for tasting and filling orders like a well oiled machine, smiling all the way. They had so many flavors to choose from! I tasted and loved the Lotus cookie flavor while my wife enjoyed chocolate hazelnut and my sun a combo of chocolate and mint chocolate chip. My husband and I stopped by one evening after seeing a lot of people in line and enjoying their gelato outside. We were greeted and offered samples of the flavors. I ended up getting pistachio and my husband got stracciatella. I thought the pistachio was really good and nutty, but the stracciatella was a little lack luster. All of their gelato is very light and almost has a whipped texture. Part of their marketing is that it is "heathier" so you can eat more quantities of their gelato vs. regular ice cream. We were disappointed that you cannot get two flavors in their small cup because other gelato shops we have been to have always allowed at least 2 flavors. Overall, the location is great because there is a parking structure right next to it and there are a few benches outside to eat your gelato. When you walk in here, you will be overwhelmed with flavor choices. They have two whole sections for different flavors of gelato and another section for water and fruit based sorbets. And the flavors don't stay the same, a lot of them are seasonal and change throughout the year. Among all of the flavors, I have yet to find one I don't like. The service is extremely nice. Everyone is cheerful and helpful and they'll give you as many samples as you want. I'm really indecisive so I ask for a lot of samples to figure out what I want, but no matter how many samples I got, the workers were always happy to give them to me. I really like the pistachio, lotus cookie, and stracciatella flavors. The pistachio has a solid pistachio flavor which I guess is pretty obvious. If you're like me and love pistachios, you'll love this flavor, if you don't like pistachios, then you'll probably hate it. The lotus cookie flavor was delicious. Lotus cookies are those cookies that you get when you fly on United airlines. It's like a shortbread cookie with a caramel and coffee flavor, and it translated really well into a gelato flavor. Stracciatella is a classic gelato flavor with shards of chocolate. It isn't like classic chocolate chip which has big chunks of chocolate, it has light thin flakes of chocolate folded into delicious vanilla gelato. This allows the gelato to remain smooth and creamy while still having nice bursts of chocolate flavor. read more
