We brought a 30-passenger party bus to Fuego for some appetizers and drinks, and even though we didn't do a formal event there, Jason made sure we had an area for our huge group near the fireplace. Our servers were Marilee and Job, but Job was quick to recommend the best appetizers and sangria pitcher since we had an itinerary to keep. I'm drunk right now and I can tell you this is a bad place. They took forever to sit us down. They only attended us because I asked when will be seated. Also the bartender was the only one who cared to know if we were attended after we were seated. I wanted to leave so bad but we had already placed out order. Upon entering this establishment I was already met with disappointment. The very nice server asked us to wait a couple of minutes while our table was ready. Unfortunately for my party and I, our table was given away by either a manager or owner (some old white haired guy) so we had to wait even longer. They brought us chips and salsa and the salsa had the perfect heat and flavor. Staff was accommodating to dietary needs of the group. I have dined at this restaurant before back in 2021 and it was amazing. No complaints. This evening we got into the hotel late around 8:30.. went to the restaurant and got there at 9:15. They close at 10. I didn't see a problem, there were tons of people and we order quick. As long as the food gets into the kitchen (as a former server) the table should not feel rushed. The server rushed us through everything and once he was done he never ever came back. I of course tipped 20% but feel it was not deserved. None of the food was that great and unfortunately the ceviche gave my bf food poisoning. I had to assume it was the ceviche (shrimp and fish to be specific) because I didn't eat any of it and I was okay. Regardless $250 down the drain and I will never go back. This also cut my hotel stay in half as we had to cancel our plans and return home. At $400/night. I've now wasted $650, thank you Fuego. read more

The ambiance is great. The service is terrible. It took a long time to get our drinks. When the waiter took our order he discouraged us from getting the lobster he said it would take up to an hour to come out we said that was fine we would wait then he said really I don't recommend it. It will not come out for 1hr 30mn. Again we said we would wait. He finally agreed to put the order in. While waiting for our food he never came to check on us after we had ordered another guacamole and wanted to order more drinks. Decided to go back to a spot my wife and I frequented this past Saturday afternoon. What happened to this once gem of a place? The vibe is gone. The bar service was the big turn off. Albeit the drinks were good but watching the bartender pick up tray after tray of dirty glassware instead of making us wait for cocktails is poor service. We had a reservation for 6:30 pm on Sunday night (6/26) for our 23 year anniversary dinner. We arrived a few minutes late due to missing our exit. This was our first time at this restaurant and I was really looking forward to it. The restaurant was not that crowded. A waiter took our order a few minutes after being seated, around 6:40 pm. We ordered an appetizer and a sprite as well as our dinner selections. 40 minutes later, we still had not received our appetizer and no refill of the sprite. We waited another 10 minutes and still nothing. Meanwhile, i saw two other tables close to us receive their food and they arrived way later than we had. Needless to say, I was so fed up, that we decided to leave. We got our parking validated, which was the only bright spot in the entire evening. As part of the taco train we rolled up to Hotel Maya with 20 people on bikes. Staff let us park our bikes and we're very accommodating of our large group size. The ambiance is calming, airy, and hip. The drinks and food are a bit pricey but worth it for what we ordered. It was a bummer we couldn't order tacos a la carte but we split a pork belly taco plate and WOW. The best tacos I have ever had. It might sound off putting to have a taco stuffed with pork fat and jalapeños but opposite, it was the most perfectly cooked pork belly, crispy and perfectly balanced with the peppers and pickled onions. This restaurant is inside the Doubletree Hotel Maya. We stayed there a few days/night this month. We actually ate at the bar and had crab cakes and a burger. Food quality was good but we really did not experience the restaurant appropriately. It looks very nice inside and is open air facing the water. The menu has a nice variety. We did eat breakfast there but that's more of buffet so I did not feel that was a good way to experience the restaurant. For what it's worth the morning service was terrific and the staff was very informed of the programs and how to utilize them. They have an indoor seating area and an outdoor seating area. The glass doors that separate the two open up completely. The view is pretty from both areas; you see water and boats. We got a great table all the way to the left indoors with bench seating and chairs. It was comfy and cozy. The service was good. They were attentive, and we never had too wait too long for anything. We ordered a lot of food since there were a lot of us. I can't speak for everyone in the party... but my food was pretty bland. It needed a lot more seasoning - or just seasoning in general! Not going to lie, I don't really understand why this restaurant has 3 and a half stars......?! It is a beautiful restaurant. Maybe it's because this restaurant is kind of pricey. I paid $20 for a salon salad but it was the MOST delicious melt in my mouth salmon I've ever had. Compliments to the chef!! The view was great during the day. You can see the Queens Mary right outside. My server was really nice and told me their happy hour started at 3 so of course I had to order more food. I got 3 fish tacos that were equally delicious. The restaurant overlooks the bay and you have a gorgeous view of all the yachts ported outside and the Queen Mary and Carnival cruise ships just down the way.
