Ordered food which was supposed to be ready in 15-20 minutes. I arrived on time and nobody could give me any information about the food. Then the chef finally asked "what my problem is with my order". I said I would like to pick it up as it's supposed to be ready. He said well that's not his problem and told me to fucking wait or fuck off. He's the only grill chef and doesn't care about my order. The only reason why I am rating this three stars is simply because the food is actually good and u would highly recommend this place to anyone just not this location especially to a person of color or an LGBT couple. I've been coming to this location practically my entire life... typically with family & this was the absolute worst. Not because of the food but because of the service. Let me just add that I went with my partner this time that is a female as is myself and we are also African American which I do believe played a part in our poor welcoming. When we arrived we were not greeted whatsoever and the waiter that eventually came simply escorted us to a nearby booth stating the waitress would shortly come (she never did) ...he then told us that she was "busy" and he would service us. He then slouchily took our order while leaning against the nearby wall and constantly repeated the WRONG orders back to us...he was very disconnected from us in that he did not check on us at all (however consistently going to the nearby tables) and even failed to ask us the simplest things such as if we needed anything. Prior to ordering our food we had ordered an appetizer, that we never received until asking twice and after asking for to go boxes so we declined them...no apology was given at all. Also requested cabbage as the side in lieu of a starchy option. This is *not* a special selection but something standard on their menu. They did not provide even one leaf of cabbage. Very disappointing to spend so much for a large bowl and have 4 ingredients (including the main one!) left off. When I brought my bowl to be cooked both cooks and the hostess were so engrossed in something on a phone I went unnoticed until my waitress came up to the counter. It took fifteen minutes at least to cook my bowl in an empty restaurant. Incredible lack of service or personality from most of the staff. Mediocre tasting food say 3 stars because I did my own sauces. Meat was dry and overcooked not near enough noodles. This was a $16 bowl of food. I wouldn't recommend this location. The host was rude right as we entered the place. They don't really explain how the "create your own bowl" thing works. When we asked one of the persons at the service stations, if she could fill up one of the items, and she straight out said that was it and she wasn't going to refill it. She ended up refilling it a minute after she refused and told us we couldn't move backward at the service station to get what she refilled. I decided to sit at the bar and sat there for what felt like a while before I was finally greeted. I went through the line and made my bowl while I waited I enjoyed a nice cold beverage. Upon waiting 5 people ordered to go bowls and all received their food before me. I then said something to the bartender when she went to ask about it I heard the cook tell her to shut up. I used to love coming to Genghis Grill! The food was delicious, friendly staff and you always came home with leftovers. I was visiting from out of town and wanted to show my wife as it had been awhile since I visited.This place has gone downhill since COVID and will have to make some big improvements if it wants to last! (Sad really) First of all the restaurant was not clean, it was uninviting and had gross restrooms. Our server was extremely rude. He didn't seem like he wanted to be their and was very passive aggressive. Food was expensive also. This started off the visit with a sour taste in our mouth. The food line was absolutely disgusting and empty and the only reason I know this is because I got home with my to go order for a different person. I was asked to come back in and remake the bowl. Again, food line was absolutely disgusting and all the ingredients were empty, including the seasonings. It is very sad because this location used to be awesome. This is now 3 orders over the last 2 months that I have had nothing but issues from to go orders not being ready until 45 minutes after and now 2 orders that weren't mine. I had such high expectations of this place. I became a big fan of the Mongolian grill concept many years ago and have yet to find a decent one in Houston. So on my recent trip to Dallas, we decided to check this place out. We arrived around 7:30ish and the place was fairly empty. We walked in the door and were promptly seated. But as we were seated, the door attendant took away a booster seat that was left at our table. Upon sitting down, we noticed that the floor around the table was dirty, there was food all over the floor, a couple of napkins, and the table was sticky. It was pretty obvious that there was a child sitting here before us. The tables on both sides of us were also not cleaned from the previous diners. We looked around for someone to move us to a new table, but no one was available. So we looked around the restaurant and grabbed the cleanest table we could find. This table was all sticky and almost as dirty as the table we previously had. Needless to say, we just got up and walked out of the restaurant. Our entire stay lasted about 10 mins, and the only employee we saw was the person that greeted us when we walked in and then they disappeared as well. I don't understand how a restaurant that is not very busy can be so dirty. Hopefully, the next time I am in Dallas, and decide to give these guys another try, that they have their act together. read more

I wanted to give no starts but yelp wont let me.. honestly I used to love this location, but recently it's gone downhill and usually the servers make up for that, the quality of food makes up for it, ect. But this last time I went I was treated absolutely horribly. I continuously was given the wrong bowl and each time I brought it up I was berated. The first time my bowl was wrong I didn't wanna make a deal out of it and my boyfriend was the one who brought it up, saying that it wasn't the correct bowl and to see if they had made a mistake. The server went "are you sure? What did you get" which was a little strange but whatever and off the top of my head I just blurted out three things that were in my bowl. The server went back dumped the bowl I gave her into another bowl waited about 15 minutes and brought it back out to me, which I responded with "I'm sorry but this still isn't my bowl, I didn't get spinach and also there's no rice in here just noodles" . The server rolled her eyes and looked at me and went "that's not spinach. and dig around I saw the cook put rice in there myself". So I proceeded to "dig around" in the bowl to find no rice and more ingredients that I know I didn't have in my bowl. I returned it to her and said I'm sorry but this still isn't my bowl. She took it back to the cook they had a little argument and she came back and said "I'm sorry the cooks mad at me it has nothing to do with you, you can go back and make another bowl" so I went to make another bowl, and then went to sit with my date and wait for my food, all the while my date has had his food for about 30 minutes at this point and is nearing finishing his meal. All of a sudden we hear yelling from across the restaurant, the cook was screaming about how he made my bowl perfect the first time and he wasn't about to remake it so I either got what he made or I could leave. The server came back and started insisting that I was wrong that my bowl was correct. She set the wrong bowl in front of me and said "the cook made this correctly so we're not remaking it" I looked at her and went "but there's still no rice, I mean even if this was the bowl I built, it's still wrong cause I got rice" and I literally flipped the whole bowl around with the fork proving there was no rice. The server then went "fine I'll just grab you a side of rice" and then I excused myself to cry in the bathroom. Then after the visit I tried emailing them with feedback, none of it was taken seriously, they spelt my name wrong in the reply and nothing was taken care of. I am surprised this place hasn't been shut down. Our most recent visit will be our last. We hadn't been in at least a year, and it seems every time we come, they've changed how they do things. Now they have a small, medium and large bowl, which your server brings to your table and you pick. It grosses me out a little that the server has her hands all over our food bowls. When asked about the price difference, the server didn't know. The prices were in the menu, and it's still confusing as to why this place has a menu, as if they are getting away from the create your own bowl of food style. We headed to the "salad bar" type area to pack our bowls and I was immediately disgusted. It was a Saturday evening (and it was not busy) and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for days. The different raw meats were all mixed together with various ones dropped all over the metal containers. My first thought was that I wasn't sure the meat wouldn't make us sick. There was food all over the floor. I pushed ahead and got some meat. The vegetable area was the same. There were flies flying all around the sauce area. With the plastic spoons for sauce tasting, there were dirty spoons mixed in with the clean. My stomach was turning. But, we turned our bowls in for cooking and chose 2 sides (why 2 now? both noodles and rice? that's odd..) When our drinks came, the mixture was so off that the color of Dr. Pepper was completely wrong. They fixed the machine and then brought another. When my companion's cooked bowl was brought to him, the broccoli was still raw.. we didn't eat it to find out how the meat was cooked and asked for a manager. Mine still hadn't arrived several minutes later, even though I had already cooked meat (pepperoni) and we turned them in at the same time. The manager was a kid who looked like he was barely out of high school. He had no idea how to address our complaints and did not know how to manage a restaurant, clearly. This was my third visit, and it just doesn't have the polish that the Plano location (in front of Collin Creek Mall) has (as an example). We went at lunch today, and the only beef they had was the marinated beef, which isn't my favorite. The vegetable trays weren't as well stocked nor as "neat" as they should be (a fair amount of ingredient "mixing" from those tricky tongs). Finally, my bowl was actually overcooked (the onions were quite caramelized, which isn't what I'm after here), and that marinated beef was a bit too tough. Today I ordered a large bowl. The employees are now making the bowls for you instead of making them yourself, it makes sense. The problem is the portion size. The amount of food you get is drastically less, in addition, the group in front of us received heaping and overflowing bowls while mine was flush with the top. The food is still really good but when relying on this restaurant to get my daily carb a protein numbers higher this was a huge disappointment. If the employees are going to continue to make our bowls there needs to at least be consistency from customer to customer. Even after asking multiple times for more food I just wasn't going to get as fair of a portion as the guys in front of me and with my tiny bowl sitting right next to theirs. read more
