The decor is warm and friendly. Using the family photos (with the og pencil marks on the back!) for the numbers is a great touch! Really makes you feel like you're in Aunt Kin's kitchen. I saw George + Kin's Diner on Instagram, and since my birthday was just around the corner, I decided to check it out. Upon arrival, you see menus outside on a rack and inside on the counter. You place your order as you enter, and then you are seated with the option of sitting indoors or outdoors. I initially tried to order the special: the Salmon Benedict. The young lady at the counter said, "Okay, let me check to see if we have it." Wait, WHAT? They open at 8:00 AM and we arrived at 10:15 AM, yet they were already out of the special? SMH. I was highly disappointed. Worse yet, the special was still listed on the board when we left!Since they were out, I ordered the fresh corn griddle cakes with sweet and spicy butter, a side of Nueske's smoked bacon, and coffee. I have no complaints about my food--it was delicious. However, the service was lacking (2 stars). No single person seemed assigned to our table. While our food arrived in a timely manner, no one checked in to see if we needed a coffee refill. Not once! We finally had to catch a server's attention after waiting for about 30 minutes. The bathroom situation was even worse (0 stars). It smelled like someone had mopped the floor with a dirty mop, leaving a terrible odor. Considering they open at 8:00 AM, either it wasn't cleaned from the night before, the mop was filthy, or they just skipped cleaning it altogether. I had lunch here yesterday and I have to say, it was one of the worse meals I've ever had in a restaurant. I really wanted to like this place and it missed big time. I got the chicken sandwich. The bread (which was just ordinary bread, nothing special) was burned. The chicken was so overcooked and dried out I could barely chew it. However, the coleslaw on the sandwich was delicious. We waited in line 30 minutes before we got a seat. The food came out fast but they got one of our orders wrong. The pork sausage was still pink in the middle. The bread was cold and had no butter on it. I had to use my pancake butter and the bread still wasn't good. The ice cream sundae was really good with the swirl ice cream and the hot caramel sauce. The cinnamon roll was epic but the rainbow cake not so much. The environment was really nice I felt like I was at my grandmas house back in the 80s. Update: Very deceptive marketing here. Turns out the beef tallow fries come to them "pre blanched in beef tallow" (employee quote) and are then fried at the restaurant in canola oil. To those of us who avoid such bs oils (such as canola oil) not only for our personal health, but especially for the fragile health of our children with autoimmune diseases, this is highly irritating and unfortunate. Also shame on me for trusting the title provided by this restaurant and not getting clarifying info prior to feeding this to my daughter. She will be bummed to find out she cannot go back. The third time was the charm; no line and plenty of options. The manager was competent and I tip my hat to the restaurant for hiring highschoolers .Make sure you know what to order before get a table, you pay with the host! The window menu outside helps the decision process. After much thought, I went with the Chicken Parmesan and a glass of prosecco, my fiancé was happy with the eggs Benedict. The parmigiana was nostalgic and felt like a home cooked meal, we had the whole outside patio to ourselves on a beautiful day in Napa Valley. What can I say? My very first experience was the cinnamon roll which wasn't the greatest . Extremely messy and an Overload of the cinnamon brown sugar paste. Expressed my concerns with the manager but he didn't seem concerned .. he was questioning whether it was just messy, not very professional since theirs a diff between messy and it being eatable/taste . Not sure if it was just the cut of my piece but I had to pick at it and scrape majority of the paste off and it's a hefty $12 for a roll so that shouldn't be the case . We're paying for quality and satisfaction. However , I don't want to tie it with the remainder of my experience as I'm excited to try their brunch and dinner menu and don't see it being a disappointment at all. Was in Napa for a few days and went to check out George + Kin's with my family. We were there mid afternoon one day and went back again for breakfast the next day to try more of their menu. Both times we ordered items to share - Everything was so delicious! The portions were very generous and service was great! The space is very charming and cozy. We are already planning to be back for more. Some of our favorites for this past weekend were the eggplant parmigiana, the granola bowl, the fried chicken COBB with crisp fried tofu in place of the chicken and the kumquat pancakes. Love that we have a new diner with all day breakfast in Napa! It's nicely decorated with a modern diner feel with self serve ordering from the table which is great for a place like this. We had the Benedict, the Cheese omelette and a fresh fruit bowl. The poached eggs were perfect on my Benedict but wish they had a ham option. The omelette was very well made. The toast is ok-should have jam available. The Big George breakfast looks like a Dennys Grand Slam redux but wish it had an "all bacon" option. Was hoping to find my new "go to" breakfast spot. Had read so many positives about this new spot. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I don't think so. I was just not impressed by anything at George & Kin's with the exception of the staff - they truly are friendly and welcoming. So I'm hoping they can correct some of the issues I experienced. First off, the men's room. Seriously needs some improvement (see pics). A new establishment and the toilet seat looks like it was purchased at a fire sale - stained and broken. Coffee- coffee at a diner should be really good. Their's is really terrible. No richness and little flavor. I tried both the regular and decaf and both were equally bad. And the plastic cups for cream provided was really low class and not environmentally friendly. Not a fan of the dough from which their bread and cinnamon rolls and French toast etc are all made. Had an odd texture. Certainly not Japanese milk bread but also not sourdough. Needs more gluten development I think as it has kind of an odd crumbly texture which I found unappealing. Of course tastes vary. I had the omelet. Thin, not fluffy, and the pre shredded "cheddar" was not melted on top or even inside. And if there is an option to customize fillings, it's not apparent. Hash-browns were pretty good. At least they were browned and seasoned well. Cinnamon roll was ok but as I stated above not a fan of the dough compared with a more typical cinnamon roll dough. And the cinnamon filling seemed to have some kind of thickener added as it was kind of gooey but not in an appealing way. Not to my liking. Again some of this is just a matter of preference but I stand firm that their coffee and its service needs some serious improvement and get the bathroom cleaned up. Overall I doubt I'll return. Was going to go two stars but the friendly staff get them 2.5 and I'll round up. read more

I stopped by for a quick early dinner bite and not too busy. After looking over the menu I settled on The Fried Chicken Sando. You go to the counter to order and pay then they give you a number. Since I wasn't planning on being long I sat at the bar. It's a small bar that seats 4 with a tv in the corner playing NBA playoff game. The gentleman at the bar was friendly and immediately gave me a glass of water. The atmosphere of George & Kin has a cozy intimate diner vibe. The chicken sandwich didn't take long to come out and first thing I noticed was the sandwich size. Good thing it was cut in two because 1/2 was more than plenty for me. The chicken was fried but tender on the inside and was sandwiched in between some tasty bread. The sauce or slaw had a slight tangy Asian flavor which was interesting but enjoyable. I got my other half of sandwich to go as my belly felt topped off and I was ready to finish my errands. Overall first impression was good with service, ambiance and tasty food at a good value so I'll be back to explore more of menu. read more

Came in twice over the past few weeks, so this isn't a one-visit take. The vibe here is real. Staff is warm, the concept is solid for families, and you can tell there's genuine care behind this place. That part comes through immediately. Food-wise, it's a mixed bag right now. The tenderloin is a good cut but it came out like it went straight from pan to plate -- needed a few more minutes to rest. Something to pull it together saucewise would make a real difference. The swiss chard was over-salted both times, which is fixable -- a little butter, some garlic, and that's a completely different side dish. The big burger was tough to eat, structurally. Falls apart before you get through it. The smash burgers are the better call, but mine sat a bit before it came out and you could tell. Fries were the same story -- a little heavy on seasoning and not quite hot. The cinnamon rolls in the display case are a cute touch for a family spot. Just keep them looking fresh and tidy up front -- that case is the first thing you see walking in. Service has the right energy, it just needs more organization. Clearer roles, a smoother ordering flow -- the kind of stuff that comes with time and training. Music could come down a notch too. It ran a little loud for a family crowd. None of this is unfixable. George + Kin's has the bones of a genuinely great neighborhood diner. I'll be back when they've had more time to find their footing. read more

We saw this place on an instagram reel and decided to give it a try on our way out of Napa. And wow, we spent our entire hour car ride talking about how good the food was. The French toast and apple cinnamon roll are other worldly. No cinnamon roll will ever compare. And the price is very reasonable. We will be thinking about this place for a while! read more

Wait staff was attentive; checking in about food, if we needed anything else, and to clear a finished plate. We had the chicken parmesan that was almost as big as the plate. Sauce was good, but they seemed to rush it because the mozzarella was not melted and that's what we'd prefer. The diner smash burger was delicious, but had a couple small issues: a bit heavy on the salt, served medium-rare to rare (which is a no-no at a diner IMO), wished the onion on it was grilled. I tried the pickled onion, but it wasn't cooked enough. Loved the diner space and we had a nice booth. Overall, I'd come back and eat here again. I recommend you try it. read more

We went to Georgia and Ken today around 11 and ordered a single chocolate chip pancake and the farmer's breakfast with sausage and over-easy eggs. We sat outside, but no one brought us water--I had to go inside to the register and ask for it myself. When the food came out, it was cold to the point that we had to send it back. We also ordered George's meat and potatoes the baked potato was good, but the spinach was extremely salty. My boyfriend is someone who usually likes everything, and even he said he would never come back. The hollandaise sauce was curdled and had a sour taste, the carrot bread was undercooked in the middle and burned outside, the mimosa was served in a small juice glass, and the coffee was terrible. The ambiance is nice, but I didn't like the casual feel of ordering food at the counter, not to mention the long line waiting outside and many tables empty inside. I hope they improve some of these things, because it looks like the owners put a lot of effort into making the place feel like home. I'd rather go to a place where I get more personal service. I'm hoping so much for this place!! I love food .. !! It was a let down for me and my family! They are not consistent with their food .. to give an example I ordered the egg salad!! I was sooo excited about this simple dish!! The bread was cold a bit hard . The egg were terrific. I saw the same order of egg salad from another customer the bread was thinner. And looked so much better but I don't know how it tasted like .. I can only speak for myself. The fries my brother ordered looked small and salty and stale some are.. a big disappointment.. but when I saw other peoples order they looked longer fresher hotter . Anyhow!! Tried this place on a Saturday morning. VERY BUSY!!! Food was great. Portion size is huge. A took a while to get my meal but I think it was due to the place being packed. I want to go back on a weekday morning when it may not be as crowded. I had the breakfast sampler and it was a lot of food. Pancake was double size just like the pictures. Everyone was so nice, food came out fast, and the portions are ENORMOUS. You can definitely split most of the plates with others. The house made granola in the granola bowl is is a family recipe and the best granola I've ever had. And the kumquat pancake is such a new and exciting flavor that elevate the pancakes to something so special. For lunch/dinner, I've tried the eggplant parm which was SO satisfying and comforting, and the cobb salad with the house made ranch was so flavorful. For vegetarians like me, you can get the fried chicken subb'ed for fried tofu!! SO GOOD.
