I called Oakland Rooter & Plumbing when my kitchen sink was clogged. It was Saturday - my dishes piled up waiting for the pre-rinse to the dishwasher. My sink stopped up - no plunger, no garbage disposal - nothing could move the blockage. I called these guys - never called them before, but took a chance. Jose (j-lo) came out on Saturday. He stuck with the snaking of this line for 4 - 5 hours. Rather than charge for their time, the company owner, Ignacio, called another company, - one they apprenticed with... And they came out on Sunday. Raul from Gladiator Plumbing worked on the line via snaking for another 3 hours. He did loosen things up, but, all was still clogged. Come Monday am - Ignacio made the arrangements to have Gladiator Plumbing come out, install a cleanout, and FLUSH the line. LINE CLEARED! The crap blocking the line was something I had no business flushing down my kitchen sink... It was a gel material that a prepared meal company uses to keep everything cool - (they claimed to be flushable and potable) - MY BAD!!! So, after spending 10 hours toiling on this, the cost of equipment, and materials - Ignacio (of Oakland Rooter) charged me $700! This was a prime opportunity to be gouged - BUT it didn't happen. Ignacio made a commitment to me - and the crew from Gladiator honored it. REALLY???!!! Oakland Rooter has a commitment to customer satisfaction. This was part of a tag-team deal. Ygnacio from Oakland Rooter came to my house and did me the awesome favor of unclogging our sewer drain. Knowing that Victor from Gladiator Rooter and Plumbing were working just up the street, he called them in to use a camera to inspect the pipe to the street. He found that there were still some roots in the path, and agreed to come back later to clear them. Imagine my surprise when I find out that Ygnacio and Victor had agreed that I should not be charged for the extra cleaning, saving me $100. This kind of community help and cooperation among our local companies is what makes me proud to live in Oakland. Victor finished up quickly and my drains were back to doing their job in no time. He took the time to show and explain the process, and now I know what the plumbing outside my house looks like. I had a leak on the main water line and called around to get quotes. Most contractors gave really high estimates and were not able to respond quickly. Gladiator Plumbing not only provided a quick and very reasonable estimate, but they also made some changes to their schedule and came to address the issue within 2 hours. Victor was very thorough and professional and identified the issue very quickly. He put in a quick fix to repair the leak until his crew could come in and replace the entire line. They know what they are doing, completed the work on the same day and left the job site clean. Best of all, they were at least 30% cheaper than the best estimates I got. Fair, honest and very professional. Don't look elsewhere - any plumbing needs, just call them and you will be taken care of. Our sink mysteriously clogged after running a bunch of pot roast through the garbage disposal... So I called Gladiator Rooter & Plumbing and set up a same day appointment. In another brilliant stroke of genius I called another company who's rate was less so I called and canceled my appointment. The tech from the other company came out. He struggled with his snake (only got six feet of cable into the pipe) and got combative when I said hey now the pipe is leaking when he reassembled the p trap. He said I needed a whole pressurized treatment that's would cost 2k so I kindly asked him to leave and called back Gladiator. They sent Salvador the next morning who worked efficiently to route of the clog. He was on time, courteous, and an all around nice dude. I want to shout out a very good recommendation for Victor. - He arrived within the time frame he had set with me. - He did not increase the price he quoted (even though, I think, he misunderstood me over the phone and thought he was to install a much easier part AND even though he went over one hour). - Because a connector on the other part was broken, he installed a new version of that part as well - with no complaint. I want to THANK VICTOR for sending a great team so quickly to fix our outside water leak that was flooding the drive way and street. Gladiator Plumbing arrived faster than the water company to shut off the water. The lead Technician, Cristobal, was a good organized leader, knowledgeable, and professional. They had to dig up lots of dirt and cut tree roots to find the broken pipe. It was a dirty job and they didn't complain. Once the pipe was replaced, they put all the dirt and plants back and removed all the trash. It was so clean, you wouldn't have know that there had been a huge dirty mess. These guys do live up to there 5 star ratings. Contacted a few other plumbing companies: not hearing back from any of them, I decided to trust yelp and contacted Gladiator. After giving my information to the friendly receptionist, she said someone would be out within an hour. 45 minutes later, a young looking fellow by the name of Caesar arrived. He worked at it like true professional the entire time. He finished after an hour and 20 minutes and only charged me for an hours work and ever provided me with a 10% discount on top of that.
