Golden Daisy owns our hearts. We drive about 30 minutes just for pickup. The place is pretty small and almost always packed with customers waiting on delicious goodness. Granted there is nothing inviting about the grubby exterior with blinds on window obscuring the equally lowbrow interior. Hole in the wall with amazingly good food. Their roast duck is delicious, tender with well marinated lite crisp skin with delicious duck/plum sauce. Roast pork is delicious as well! Skin crisp to perfection with great swt and sour sauce to it. They have other options in food as well, I've have their duck noodle soup and chow mein before. The shu mai, cha shao bao (pork buns), and ha gao (shrimp dumplings) are all pretty standard. Easy to get in and out (though sometimes a short line). This is a really great place for cheap eats. My friend and I walked in after driving by the previous day and it was filling. Ambiance is quiet and definitely a hidden location. They only have 6 tables here (1 that seats 6-8, the rest seats 4 or 2) so if you come here with a bigger party, seating may be an issue. Most people stop here for take out Chinese BBQ, which includes roast duck, roast pork , BBQ pork and hum bows, but it's also a good place for cheap and basic dim sum. They also have a wide selection of other Chinese dishes. There are less than 10 dim sum items but they have the good ones such as the pork shui mais and the steamed shrimp dumplings. Prices for the dim sum range from $1-$2, so you can easily feed a crowd for $20 or less. The place is small, dark and old looking but the food is excellent, people are super friendly and the prices can't be beat. Ok. I came here Saturday afternoon to get an order to go. This was my first visit here. The lady who rang me up and took my order was very nice. The order came out fast and we were happily on our way. I ordered a sweet and sour pork special and an order of shumai. The shumai were medium sized pork and shrimp filled. The meat in the ssp was nice and crispy outside, the sauce however needed work. It was a thin orange colored sauce I think was vinegar and sugar no other flavors, no. other vegetables. It would be nice to have a few pieces of onion and green pepper. It was edible and not unpleasing to the palate, just very plain and boring. So I got home and shared the ssp with my roomie and I ate the 4 pieces of shumai to myself since roomie is allergic to seafood. An hour or two later we went to sleep. I woke up several hours later I thought I was fine. Until my digestive system woke up, hijacked my body cause it decided something else. I had 8 bouts of what felt like pee shooting out my aho#e every hour from morning to sundown. I had to go to the hospital and get an IV drip. They believed it was food poisoning. I'm gonna speculate the source of the pathogen was likely from the pork and shrimp stuffing in the shumai. My roomie didn't have it bad he only had slight stomach cramps. So Please Beware! It was a waste of my Sunday. I'm waking up now Monday morning and I still feel I'm gonna be reaching for the Imodium next. I would like to give this place another go, but not in a very long time.
