    California Omelette

Golden Egg Cafe was one of those cafes I passed a few times and became intrigued to try! Finally my boyfriend and I made a stop for breakfast. We came at a good time so there were plenty of tables to choose from. My boyfriend and I opted for a little table by the door. For drinks, we kept it simple and had glasses of water. For our food, we got a cinnamon roll to start. It was soft and sweet but not too sweet. It was very delicious. For our entrees, I got chilaquiles while my boyfriend had a California omelet. A few minutes after ordering everything arrived. It was really good! I had a couple of bites from my boyfriend's plate and he had some from mine. Everything was very delicious. I think what I was hoping for at Golden Egg Cafe was exactly what I got! It was a really cute breakfast place with a variety of dishes sure to satisfy anyone's palette. I enjoyed my breakfast experience and would come again!

The food is soooo good! The staff is amazing and really connects with the customer. You feel like they are welcoming you into their home. They offer WiFi for the kids, it's clean and I highly recommend this place.

Service was great. Our waiter was hustling as he was the only one there besides the cook. Busy morning. Since they were understaffed, we had quite a long wait. The restaurant is a cute, lil, yellow house. Parking is on a first come basis. We both devoured our food. Chile verde sauce was tasty but I wish there was more w a different cut of meat.

Breakfast food might possibly be the most satisfying! Ventura County has a number of solid breaky options and Golden Egg Cafe is one of them! I like a good traditional breakfast cafe that isn't trying to be too trendy, just good food! Homestyle cooking and personable service. Always appreciate a cafe with outdoor seating and I enjoyed sitting on the front porch. Golden Egg operates out of what was most likely a residential home. Quaint and comfy vibes. I ordered a 3 egg breakfast with hash browns and English muffin. Solid choice, sometimes a basic breakfast is what the soul needs. My toddler had the French toast with fruit. So good. An eggy type of french toast and fresh fruit made it even more delicious. Parking can be a little tricky. Limited options on Main and a few spot in the back. Food was good. Service was excellent and I will return to explore the menu.

We looked up this little spot on Google and we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The coffee was good and our food was brought out on time. I ordered the chilaquiles verdes and oh boy were they good. I won't be eating again until tomorrow from how full I am. I complimented the chef on the scrumptious chilaquiles and they even thought of naming them after me (lol). I guess next time we go we will find out if the dish was named after me (beaming face emoji). 6 stars. I recommend 100 percent. Thank you.

This place wins breakfast. It is so cute, and the food is perfect. Most of the seating is outside. It is clearly a local spot. People come in and greet each other by name. Our waitress, Jennifer, is so kind and welcoming. She came right over to my little dog with duck jerky treats, asked all of our names, and made us feel super welcome. We had a lovely conversation with her throughout our meal. The menu is huge. There is everything you can dream of for your standard breakfast. The one thing I will say is there is no vegan meat option, but there is plenty of avocado and a huge mix of sautéed vegetables, and I personally like that better. I got the two breakfast burrito special and my partner got a scramble with fruit. Normally a side of fruit is tiny, but hers was a huge bowl of extremely fresh, local fruit. You can see that they prioritize locally sourced items, which I love. Our meals were fresh, tasty, and not overly greasy like a lot of breakfast places can be. Overall absolutely love this place and will be back often!!!

Curiosity got the best of me because it looked like a house so I decided to dig a little bit more into it. Apparently, it's a 1920s Spanish bungalow They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is attentive and very friendly. Now the food... Oh man, it was delicious!! I was eating healthy and got just a plain chicken bowl and that was really nothing to write about, but that was my fault because who gets that when surrounded by such yummy food like Strawberry Matcha pancakes or Churro French Toast with kiwi, banana, berries and chantilly cream ‍ Anyways, we got the maple bacon beignets for the table and wow, that was delicious. Warm, fluffy, sweet, salty... yummm!! My son got the 2+2+2. At $23 it was a little pricey for two eggs, 2 bacon and 2 pancakes, but the pancakes were huge and barely fit on the plate. The bacon was also very thick and tasty. Warning: That the house made vanilla caramel syrup they serve is super addicting and you're gonna want to drizzle everything with it!! Everyone else at the table was really happy with what they ordered. Someone also ordered a biscuit on the side and that was by far the fluffiest biscuit I had ever seen. Usually they can be dry and hard, but this one was quite opposite. I've seen other pictures online and I guess it can be a hit or a miss because they don't seem to be consistent. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town and this time actually try the other plates I was eyeing

So we decided to sit outside where it felt a bit more open. We got a corner spot that was secluded, which was perfect for the kids! Our waiter was very attentive and nice. We tried the chocolate French toast and presentation was amazing- taste... not so much. Overall the food is great for a demographic that doesn't value flavor and too much salt. We left 80% of the food because we couldn't enjoy it. If you like your eggs like they serve at hotel continental breakfasts-- you'll enjoy this place!

The employees were kind, place was clean, there's in and outdoor seating, and parking is what you make of it as PP is located on a blocked off street where cars are not permitted. All to say, research where you wish to walk about, find a meter or free parking lot - enough around, and put on your good yet cute walking shoes because you'll enjoy strolling about after your meal here - or drink. FOOD: I sooo loved my grill cheese. Instead of mushrooms I swapped for spinach - you're welcome. AND THE PICKLE ON THE SIDE - delish! So why 4 and not 5? Because of my limited lifestyle I found the menu a bit limiting. However, I am not a HUGE cheese person and I don't drink. With that said, I feel anyone else who loves to indulge in that world should have a super great experience. Mine was still great. WELL: I actually enjoyed my time and shall return. My mother loves a good red wine so I'll bring her too.

What left me uncomfortable was the service. Throughout the meal, I felt singled out and dismissed in ways that were hard to ignore. Staff were outwardly polite and seemed to be making an effort to be friendly, but the interactions often felt forced and noticeably different from the way other customers were being treated. Requests seemed to be met with impatience, and I repeatedly got the sense that I wasn't being welcomed in the same way as others around me. One example was when we asked if a finished plate could be removed to make room for new dishes that had just arrived. The request was met with hesitation, and it felt as though taking the plate was an inconvenience. Later, when I asked for to-go containers, the employee handing them to me appeared visibly strained to be courteous. It was one of several interactions that left me feeling like basic requests were being tolerated rather than accommodated. I can't speak to anyone's intentions, but the overall experience left me feeling unwelcome despite the surface-level friendliness. I came away wondering whether bias played a role in how I was treated. What stood out most was the contrast between how we were treated and how some others were treated. From where we were seated, I observed other customers receiving noticeably warmer service, including more smiles, friendlier conversation, and a more welcoming attitude. My party did not experience that same level of warmth. The food itself was very good, but the service experience would make me hesitate to return.

I thought the tacos would be decent, had a good attitude coming here, but boy, what a nice surprise this place was! Small line in front, you order, pay, go inside, wait for your order at pick up window. Simple! Tables on the pier, and they have a patio facing the ocean, nice view. Picnic tables! They sell wine, beer, margarita-s. Great selection! But the tacos!!! We got 4 between me and my husband to share and sample: Baja Taco (got fried fish) had fresh ingredients, lettuce and a nice lime flavor! Beach House Tacos (got grilled fish), nice pineapple salsa, tender fish, nice sauces and lettuce. Calamari Taco - fried calamari - fresh avocado and cabbage, nice sauce - chipotle. Marilu Taco with popcorn shrimp with nice chile lime crema, not too spicy. Even the fried seafood here is fresh, not very fried, just a tad, nice and crispy, but not greasy. Loved every taco, they are all different than each other, they use fresh ingredients and vegetables, each had a great, original flavor, they don't skimp on anything - seafood or ingredients. By far, some of the best tacos I ever had, they go in my Top 5. 4 Tacos (they are big!) are enough for 2 people. My and my husband we also shared a portion of guac and chips, they reminded us of Mexico. The guac had a lime flavor and well mashed, the tortilla chips are thicker and extra friend. Inside were three of the smallest "street tacos" I've ever seen. I've seen more substantial meals in Barbie's Dreamhouse. I ordered the carne asada, but apparently the salt shaker took the day off because the meat had absolutely zero seasoning. No salt, no flavor, no redeeming qualities. The punchline? Walked right over to Dukes which is literally foot steps from the beach. To my surprise, not only was it pretty busy with the World Cup on every TV, but impressively, it didn't stop the service or kitchen from being super fast. Very impressive. I ordered to go this time so I could get back to parenting and enjoying the weather. Had to be quick so I could enjoy my time before it cools down and my sunburn fully sets in. I ordered the Gizmo which is basically a grilled chicken club on sourdough. It was great. Really don't have anything to add to that other than I would highly recommend it. Anyone who doesn't love a chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich might have some taste bud issues... It came with in-house made potato chips and those were also wonderful. I smashed that thing and literally went right to sleep in my chair. What a perfect beach day thanks to Dukes. To add to my food experiences and recommendations here, the time before this, I ordered the fish and chips. In my case it was the fried fish and sweet potato fries. It was so flavorful and crispy. I highly recommend eating it there or hopefully near by so it doesn't lose that fresh crunch. However, you have to get any and all fries with their Ranch. I had to get extra as I couldn't seem to get enough. Obviously every fry needed to have a disgusting amount of ranch on it.
