However the food menu are entirely different now. We ordered some noodle dishes, I used to like their fried noodle alot because it truely represents the taste of Taiwan. However, its not the case anymore. They used the noodle that was served in Shanghai restaurant (thick) and the flavor...a bit lacking. Price went up alot too. They used to have a meal for 2 or meal for 4 deal. No longer exist. I think this place is in a transitioning phase but unless the old chef/owners return..I prolly not going to return here anytime soon. HOME COOKED MEAL AT 3 AM? I'M NOT COMPLAINING! So according to Yelp this restaurant is categorized under chinese/tawainese food. I would like to clarify, its actually a mix of Taiwanese/ Shanghainese. The best thing about this place is obviously its late store hours. It is definitely a nice change from the usual cafes. They serve everything very quickly. I see a lot of to-go orders as you'll notice the shop is pretty small. Review from my last order: Ru Rou Fan (Minced Meat with Rice, Pickled Cabbage, Radish): The minced meat is packed with flavor and they top it with a lot of white pepper so it gives it an extra kick. House Special Dry Noodle (Pork,Tempera, fish ball, tea egg, bean sprouts): The sauce is awesome! Even though they say its Dry noodle, the soupy sauce they use is very similar to Beef noodle soup. I only wish they use better noodles. Xiao Long Bao (XLB): Mmmmmm you can't complain about XLB, especially if they serve it after hours! Be very cautious as it is filled with soup/juice (Which is the best part). Stinky Tofu: I'm a really big fan of stinky tofu. Let's be honest, the main reason I like this place is because it's open ridiculously late (3 - 4am most nights) - which is incredibly hard to find in my area. Also ... the food isn't all that bad. This place has been around since when i was a child. My parents would always come here after a family night out bowling so I've known about this place for quite some time. Not much has changed. Still the same small place and still the same good Asian food. After a night of drinking the food here will sober you up. Majority of the popular items are on their wall and i only stick to ordering those. I don't even bother with the menu. I usually come here for the fried dumplings and fried pig intestines (again, to sober me up), but I've also had other stuff; Chinese sausage fried rice, noodles, etc. If your Asian, you really can't hate on the food they serve here to be honest. I've been living in the area for quite some years and I pass by this place almost everyday! I finally remembered and found the right time to try it last Thursday (note: they only open at night from 6pm-4am). This place serves Taiwanese food and it's run by maybe two people (a server and a cook). It's a fairly small place with 6-8 tables. They have pictures of some of the more I am guessing best selling food on the wall. We ordered three dishes- fried stinky tofu, minced pork over rice, and beef noodles. The food was average.. a tad bit too salty for my taste. The fried stinky tofu was really smelly but the taste was bland. It didn't have the distinct stinky tofu taste.. lacking a sour like taste?.. not sure.. but it was freshly fried tho. I end up ordering not just their stinky tofu but their xiao long bao as well. The stinky tofu is a must try on this restaurant. Legitimate Taiwanese food. My brother and I had the house special dry noodles, steamed dumplings, and the intestines. NOMS. Everything was made fresh and steaming hot and we scarfed everything down. The intestines are so crisp & light; the texture adds so much to this simple dish. They serve it with a white pepper/msg on the side so it's you can sprinkle on/dip as much as you'd like. The noodles were perfect, not too firm or soft and had an amazing flavor..sigh, I love Taiwanese food. What I really want to review is the service. The waitress is an absolute sweetheart--she was so patient with us (we walked in at 2am and couldn't decide what to order for the longest time), and just made us feel right at home. This place may not be the fanciest or the best food in town, but it does it's job at a time when every restaurant in the area is closed but you want xlb. The food is no frills, inexpensive, and decent with basic flavoring. They also have surprisingly a lot of variety, though I suspect the flavoring and seasoning for many of the dishes are similar.
