We found the place on yelp and were not disappointed. The staff greeted us right away and we ordered coffee and beignets. We ordered the French toast with bacon and eggs. The food was great. The side of grits was the best thing we ate. The vibe was nice and the owner came around and greeted everyone. Nice touch. We will be back read more

The food was really good. I got the 2 pancakes and eggs breakfast that also came with 2 extra sides. I chose the chicken sausage and cheese grits. Their beignets were also really good, and our server noticed that we enjoyed them so much that she brought out a complimentary fresh batch for us. The entire staff was very friendly and had phenomenal service. The ambiance inside is very nice and they also have a plethora of outside seating. They don't allow reservations but we were seated very quickly at 11am on a Sunday. The only negatives were that they were pretty busy so it did take some time to put our order in as well as receive it, but the server kept us updated throughout and did a fantastic job. The other thing to consider is that you'll need to pay for parking here. It's only $5 and lasts the entire day, but it is something to be mindful of. I'd highly recommend this place and plan to come back. read more

WHERE can you go in-town and get a wonderful brunch on a Sunday in Atlanta and not have an hour wait? This place! We tried to visit their Cumberland location twice but the wait was too long. Today we were leaving Atlantic Station and drove by their Spring Street location and quickly parked (adjacent deck about $6/hr). Came in and our party of 2 was quickly greeted and seated. We ordered the Maryland Crab Cake Benedict and Pork Chops + 2 sides (yams, collards). Everything was splendid, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The crab cake benedict was AMAZING!! Plenty of lump crab and perfectly poached eggs! Wonderful team, polite fast service and great food. Menu diverse enough to come back many times. Also, dope photo wall near bathrooms featuring our fav Mayors (shout out to Shirley Franklin!) We will be back soon! Thoroughly enjoyed everything. read more

Grits and eggs breakfast kitchen is delicious! It's a great place to go for breakfast or brunch but I personally go there for the chicken biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs on top which is always my go to .my friend ordered the lamb chops which he loved . The service is great, the location is great but the food is fantastic! read more

So I used to go to this location often when it initially opened. Food was amazing. Now, it's mediocre at best. Your restaurant should no longer be called Grits and Eggs when the grits aren't good.The last time I went I said..you know the food isn't as good but maybe a bad day. No, the food and service has gone down horribly and I will never go again...especially at the prices they charge. $37 for Red Snapper and Grits is insane. I ordered the avocado toast and my mom ordered fried snapper and grits and a ginger ale. Ok, server comes back and said "We're out of ginger ale" Cool, give me a sprite. She then comes back and said "We are out of snapper". Ok, fine my mom said give me Curry Shrimp and Grits. In addition to the flighty service, we received our food. Now we know what the menu says. Peppers and onions pretty much come on every grit dish in this place. They give my mom the shrimp and grits (5 tiny shrimp) no peppers and onions on the dish. They give me avocado toast and there are no purple onions. I said to the girl what the issue was she brings back the shrimp and grits with 3 peppers. Brings me back the toast with 3 white onions that looked like they dug them out the trash. I said, what is this and she said "Oh, we're out of purple onion" Girl!!!! All of the food had no seasoning and tasted bland. Forgot to mention I ordered a side of cheese grits. They brought me a side of cheese grits with a visible square of American Cheese sitting right on top. I also sent that back and told them I ordered Chedder Cheese grits. She never apologized for her slow service or for not having the actual food we WANTED TO EAT! I mean Costco is right up the street! You can go grab purple onion, ginger ale and snapper. Then she had the nerve to come back at the end asking if everything was ok. Saw my napkin sitting right on top of that toast (because I was done) and asked if I wanted a to go box. Whoever the chef is...doing a horrible disservice to this restaurant. Might as well go to Waffle House. read more

I've been to Grits & Eggs twice now and they didn't disappoint either times. On top of that, they are a black owned restaurant. The first time I went was a Sunday afternoon and I will say they tend to be busier during that time as Sundays are more ideal for brunch so we did have to wait some time to be seated, as well as for our food. The second most recent time I went was on a Saturday early evening and I was there celebrating a friend's birthday but it wasn't packed like it was the first time I went. Although we had a better party, they were able to accommodate, and I believe my friend had actually reached out prior to. The first time I went, I ordered more brunch food and I got their coconut pancakes along with a side of chicken and some grits with cheese. The pancakes were delicious along with everything else. Their grits are super creamy and filled with flavor. Oh and don't forget about the beignets! I had them both times, and each time they came out they were super hot, light and airy, and just right. My most recent visit, I ordered the salmon but got it fried and got a side of macaroni and cheese and the veggies. It also comes with a cornbread muffin. When I tell you the batter on that salmon was A-1!!!Along with everything being seasoned very well, all the food came out piping hot, which is amazing for a large party. Not to mention, the food actually came out fairly quick, given the size of our party. If you're a drinker, you can't go wrong with one of their mimosas as they have a variety of flavors, as well as their oui oui punch, which is like a rum punch. The customer service here is always great. I've had no issues or complaints with any of the staff as they truly make you feel welcomed and like family. I love their energy and attentiveness to make sure that their customers are truly satisfied. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the Vinings/Smyrna area and you're ready for some great food and amazing customer service. read more

I came here with a party of 4 on New Year Eve and was kind of expecting a lengthy wait since it was Sunday and NYE. This was not the case. When I arrived the hostess said it would be about an hour, however, once my entire group arrived we were actually seated pretty quickly. It definitely seemed to be busier from 11:30 until about 1:00, but the way the flow of the dining area was managed I would not have known had I not been facing the front door. This was probably one of the best experiences I've had with staff during rush hour at any restaurant. The ladies working the front of the house were great and kept everything moving seamlessly. Our waitress took our order pretty quickly and the wait for our order was not too long. I had the chicken and waffles, which were good. I'd order them again. The beignets were perfect and I'll definitely order them on future visits. I'm always looking for a good beignet in metro Atlanta and this is the second place to have legit beignets. There's valet parking for $10, but apparently you can also find parking yourself in the parking deck. The signage made is seem like valet was the only option. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I'll definitely be back. read more

The best grits I ever had in my life! I did add cheddar cheese but they were so fire. Coffee was great, yams were great and so were the crab cakes. Staff was insanely friendly. When to have breakfast and had to leave. Sunday 9am. Only very few people at the restaurant. The waiter was annoyed because I ask for a menu. Ordered coffee and beignets. About 10 minutes the beignets arrived. Continue waiting for my coffee. After a while asked the waiter what is the delay for my coffee. I noticed about 5 workers just talking and not doing anything. Got up and whent to ask for my coffee and nothing. Finally coffee arrives. Had to ask the waiter for sugar. He is again annoyed. He brings the coffee without a spoon. Had tu use the fork to stir the coffee. Decided to go somewhere else for breakfast. Absolutely the worst service ever! read more

After attending the Alzheimer's/Dementia Walk, my cousins and I were looking for a great brunch spot. I came across this gem on Yelp. Now, I read reviews and decipher who's just an angry customer or not. This place had outstanding reviews. We pulled into a tiny parking lot and a very distinguished woman stood out front informing people about paying for parking (this is also a residential property, as well). I knew then this lady didn't play. We walked in and the experience began. Mrs. Jean, the call her; and Tyler were amazing. The energy from the leadership to waitstaff was impeccable. The food was great. Now, sometimes we should just leave collards alone. No fancy stuff. Just that southern bowl of pot liquor. Now, enter with class because if you don't the staff is going to hold down their bosses and the reputation of 5-star, red carpet service. Now, we had a few snags but it was taken care of with ease. I will definitely be back. Oh, they have multiple locations. But, this one will always be on my list. read more

I just loved this place, it was hands down my favorite in my trip to Atlanta, they had little igloos set out outside for groups to enjoy their food in, I started off with peach Bellinis and mimosas. I tried the chicken that was amazing!!!!! Mac and cheese, greens, and sweet potatoes, they all were amazing! The guy at the bar was so attentive and suggested his favorites. I tried the lamb chops, I do wish they had some type of sauce on them, they were Marinated and had some type of seasoning on them but I feel like they were just missing something... overall, you've got to try this place out, you won't be disappointed. read more

My daughter and I were in the area when we decided to try something new, and I must say that we both were very pleased. The outdoor seating was very nice for the perfect weather. The hostess, manager, and server were all pleasant. The expresso martini with white chocolate was so amazing and my daughter said the apple juice was the best lol. Finally the food was fresh, hot, and oh so delicious! The grits were so creamy and the catfish was seasoned perfectly. My daughter enjoyed her bacon egg and cheese on the brioche bun (she finished the rest the next day and it was still amazing). Definitely will be returning! read more

Your traditional brunch spot but they do offer lunch items. HIGHLY RECOMMEND A RESERVATION ON THE WEEKEND, anytime I pass the restaurant there's a line. Our server was super sweet and helpful. The food came out very quickly, hot and fresh. The outside seating was perfect, shaded and relaxed. The grits were perfectly cooked I MEAN PERFECT and the shrimp was flavored very well, the potatoes were average, and the waffle was very soft (they forgot my strawberries and blueberries as stated on the menu) and by the time I got them I was halfway done with the waffle. The chicken was spiced well unfortunately including the salt, the chicken wings were very salty. Overall if you want a quick good meal, Grits and Eggs will do. Will be back soon. read more

Great place for a delicious breakfast. A good start with a ice latte with smoked marshmallow flavor with a side of hot beignets. Then feasted on southern classics like chicken and biscuits and mynwife said her plate was delicious with especially the grits. This was place was near the Cobb gallaria. Super quick walk and delicious. I got there when they open and was seated really fast. Service was great. Waitress gave us lots of recommendations. She recommended we get the beignets and they were not wrong. The beignets were delicious, hot, and not super sweet. Probably one of the best beignets I've had in a while. We came as a group. Avocado toast I would say is the least delicious thing we had compared to everything else. It was good but we weren't a fan of the chopped avocado. Chicken and waffles was really good. The best part of this was the chicken. The chicken was well seasoned and moist. Fried catfish and shrimp grits was sooo delicious! Definitely order this if you come by! read more

This place had been on my list to try for a while. We joined the waitlist for breakfast to eat around 10 am. It is located underneath a living space building. Parking is paid in the residential garage. They may have had valet. When we arrived we notified them we were on the waitlist. We were advised that there was a wait to be seated and we would be seated shortly. The restaurant is in one indoor room and not a large area. They also had outside seating. It was quite noisy and tables were pushed together in some areas to accommodate a large party. It seemed somewhat chaotic and unorganized. We left and went to a place that has better organized seating with a shorter wait. I see this place has good reviews. I may order a pickup to try the food. However, I do not intend on dining in the restaurant. The vibe and ambience is not my cup of tea. read more

10/10 experience! From the gentleman at the valet who checked on the wait time for us, the hostess Miss Jean, the manager (who allowed us to try the beignets on her, absolutely amazing!), and our server Jakai (hope i spelled it correctly), I had a phenomenal time from start to finish. The chicken and waffles i ordered were cooked to perfection as well. It's rare i have no complaints about a restaurant, but I truly enjoyed everything here! I returned to Grits & Eggs on a Friday afternoon. I was seated right away, but waited for a server to come over to my table. I believe my server was new because when I asked about a menu item he said he wasn't sure, then pulled a menu out of his pocket to look. Although he wasn't knowledgeable about the menu, he was nice. The Mac and cheese has not disappointed me yet!!! The yams very good, the cornbread honey get it! The service the best. The spot is very nice inside and the have igloos outside that you can sit in. Came in feeling good and left feeling even better. Ms. Jean was the perfect host to welcome me into the restaurant. She has an infectious smile and kindness that really sets a great tone for the restaurant. After a short wait I was escorted to my table where Mukilya was my server. She was nice and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. Especially the grits and pancakes. Listen..I'm a grits connoisseur and GEB has some of the best I've tasted. NOTHING was needed. No salt, pepper or, butter. My new go to! I'm always game to support locally owned, operated Black business. This one is my favorite because the menu is diverse, plates are delicious and service is a delight. Please go see Shemar by the Bar! He's got his personal brand as bartender and server. This was my 3rd visit - the first time for a networking event (about 15 people), Memorial Weekend brunch with my gyals and an early business breakfast this past Friday. I've enjoyed their avocado toast, eggs Benedict and those beignets! Others love their pork chop, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, omelets and more. Don't skip coffee and dessert! Also they have a full bar and cocktails are creative, presented nicely and taste great. Stop by soon! read more

OMG WHAT A FIND. Looking for a breakfast spot this morning. This place was rated pretty high. There's a reason for that. Seated immediately at a nice table in the center of the restaurant. Our waitress was awesome. She explained the menu and the items. She took our drink order and gave us time to go over the many selections and mouth watering choices. After a few minutes, the cook came by our table and asked how we were doing and if he could help us in any way. I asked about his shrimp and grits. He said that they were good but better yet was the catfish or snapper, shrimp and grits. Oh, that sounded even better. I was ready to order the picture on the menu of eggs, bacon, biscuit, grits, ect and now he brings this into play. Our party of 5 were all changing our minds at this point. I ordered the snapper, shrimp and grits. Two ordered the catfish. One shrimp and grits and one western omelet. The meals arrived and we all dug in. OMG. I've had great shrimp and grits but this place kicked its butt. The flavor of the fish and the batter was awesome. The grits were creamy and really fantastic. The shrimp were big and meaty and also tasted fresh and better than expected. My whole meal was fantastic. Everyone was commenting on their food and how great everything tasted. Not a single complaint or bad comment. That's is so hard to do with a group like ours. There's always someone that is not happy with something. Not this time. The service was non-stop. I was so full by the end. I wanted more but could hardly finish my meal it was so much and so rich. Everyone was ready for a nap. I ordered eggs, toast, sausage, potatoes, and milk. It cost $25 with tip and I got it to go. There was no toast or jelly as I had ordered - which normally isn't a big deal, but for $25 I want my toast. So I called the number on the receipt and it goes to a woman's residence. Wrong number. So I call the number listed on their website and it's an automated system who asks me who I'd like to speak to. I said human, customer service, operator, and the restaurant - it told me it was transferring my call each time and immediately hung up. FOUR TIMES. It started with a simple mistake and revealed a lot more problems with the Battery location in Atlanta. On a positive note, the girl who took my order was awesome. I don't think I can trust someone with my food if they don't know their own phone number or have a way to contact them. Even when I tried to send a message on FB, it says "Message cannot be sent." September 1, 2024 finally gives this place a try. customer service was 10. Didn't like that I had to pay for parking $10, they should validate parking. The wait time for Food is ridiculous. In Atlanta visiting this week and came across this restaurant and I'm so glad I did. Ambiance, music, service, and food were all on point. I ordered French toast and it came with eggs, turkey bacon, and potatoes. Everything was great except the turkey bacon it could have been fried a little longer. My cousin ordered the fried chicken plate. I tried her black eye peas, and they were seasoned to perfection. Veggies were good too. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in town. read more

I finally had an opportunity to check out the new breakfast spot in my hood. The restaurant is located directly across from Kale Me Crazy. They took over the location where Highland Bakery was located for a brief time. I did dine at Highland Bakery on a few occasions so I can confirm that the set up is basically the same. When a friend and I arrived on a Friday around noon the place was actually packed. I was not expecting the crowd! However, we did not have to wait to be seated. As most restaurants have done, they offer their menu by way of a QR code located at the table. As I was viewing the menu our wait staff came to the table and took our drink orders. I opted for water with no ice and a pumpkin spice latte with almond milk. The latte came out quickly it was good, but I did not taste pumpkin. My friend and I opted for the same meal- the Grits and eggs breakfast. This includes the following- Two eggs any style, grits or home fries, choice of bacon, turkey bacon, chicken sausage or pork sausage. Served with white, wheat or multigrain toast. The cost is $14.00. The only difference between our orders is that I opted for grits and she went with the home fries. We both opted for chicken sausage and a biscuit. The food came out quickly. My friend did request that her home fries be cooked hard and she immediately noted that they did not do that . However, she still ate them. The food was ok to me. The biscuit was comparable to a canned biscuit. The description just says "Fluffy buttermilk biscuit", so they are not advertising them to be home made. Overall, service was good, and the food was okay. I guess I was expecting to be wowed. Will I try them again?---sure. It's close to home and if I just don't feel like cooking I will stop in. read more

The fried green tomatoes and sweet heat wings were really good, and I started to rethink my initial assessment of the restaurant. Everything went downhill from there. My "Rich Boy" sandwich itself was good, but it came with completely unseasoned fries. When I mentioned that I was supposed to have the "Rolex" fries, the server told me the plain fries were what I got. After clarifying with another server, they brought out the actual "Rolex" fries, which appeared to just be fries with a little parmesan and parsley on top. Supposedly they were truffle fries, but there wasn't even a hint of truffle flavor. My partner ordered the veggie sausage, which was overcooked and dry. Their eggs came out over easy instead of over medium, and the "signature grits" were more like cream cheese with a little bit of grits mixed in. We were told more grits would be brought out, but they never came. Another person in my party ordered the Southern seafood pasta, which had literally one piece of spinach in it. When she asked about it, the server responded that there was "more spinach coming." At that point, it became clear that Barney's is selling the illusion of luxury in order to justify premium prices for subpar food and service. It really was a TikTok trap after all. To make matters worse, when the check came, we were charged an additional $1.50 for eggs that already came with the meal. The explanation was that the eggs "came from the shell." Others in my party were also charged extra for liquor on top of the listed menu price for their drinks. Overall, I absolutely did not enjoy my experience here, and I will not be returning. Oh, and that other party that was visibly irritated with the wait had to wait even longer because there was a hair in their food.

The homemade tortillas are the crown jewel here, turning good tacos into great ones. The guacamole is exactly what you expect, simple and comforting while the charro beans are the best I've ever had, seriously. I recently had breakfast at Grits and Eggs Breakfast Kitchen while visiting my parents for the weekend. Our group of eight waited an hour for our food, and two plates had to be remade--not at our request, but because the kitchen wasn't happy with how they turned out. While I appreciate their commitment to quality, those dishes took even longer to arrive, making the wait even more frustrating. When the check came, there was no offer of a discount despite the delays, and an automatic 20% gratuity was added. I understand this is standard for larger parties, but it would've been nice to see a bit of flexibility given the circumstances. This black owned brunch spot is top tier!! I've been in a mission to support as many black owned brunch establishments as possible and this one has been my favorite so far. The food was soo good I forgot to take a picture. It was fresh and a great portion. The wait time was supposed to be 30-40mins. I think I waited 20. The only bummer was they were out of beignets. Most of the table had the French toast and eggs and one person had the shrimp and grits. But I will definitely be back. They had a pianist playing music then Christmas music followed. It wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear my friends across from me talking. I loved the ambience! It was just such a classy brunch spot with great customer service. One of the owners was working as a hostess and she was so kind. I can't say enough about how great of an experience I had. We visited Grits and Eggs after a 45-minute to 1-hour trip. The host was warm and welcoming, informing us of a wait, which we expected. Once seated, our server was noticeably unenthusiastic and seemed bothered by our presence, which soured the experience. I ordered the avocado toast with turkey bacon and a hard-boiled egg, a dish that shouldn't take long to prepare, yet our food arrived much later than others who were seated after us. The toast lacked the promised everything bagel seasoning and any flavor, forcing me to season it myself. A friend's catfish and grits was decent, but my high hopes for the avocado toast were unmet. The ambiance was lively but loud. The host led a sweet birthday song for one of our group, which was a highlight. Overall, the lackluster food and poor service mean I likely won't return to Grits and Eggs for brunch or breakfast if I'm back in Atlanta. I live in a box!] I imagine TSS was the "go to" place for locals in years past. I sat at the counter and my order was taken immediately. My water and cup of coffee was placed in front of me immediately. The nostalgia was undeniable and I observed the front wait staff seemed happy (inconceivable!). I found myself grinning to myself at their small talk and humor. I ordered a bacon, egg & cheese biscuit (served open faced) with a side of hashbrowns. My food was served hot straight from the grill. My only regret was not ordering toast because the biscuit, to my disappointment, was not homemade. I compare it to the Mary B's Frozen Biscuits I use to buy when I wanted a biscuit but didn't have time to pull out my wooden bowl or had no buttermilk in the fridge. Two clean, single occupancy bathrooms for paying customers are assessable from the outside and entering through the door to the kitchen. That was interesting.. I imagine the building has not changed much over the years. Overall, I enjoyed my visit, (check it off the Bucket List ) but the ($16 + $4 tip) for my breakfast might make me consider The Waffle House before returning for a second visit unless eating for lunch or the Homemade Lemon Ice-Box Pie voted one of the "5 Best Pies in the USA". I do love PIE!
