French Toast Sampler - pick any 3
Pam B.

Nice brunch spot if you're looking for one in ktown with parking and less congested area. I was here last Saturday after 10am, found street parking in front. Got in and it was already busy and I was seated even though my cousin and her partner have not arrived. They ended up being late but the servers were really nice. I ordered latte and the French toast sampler while waiting. The French toast is really good - I picked 3 flavors- the Plain, Nutella and strawberries and crème. I will recommend this because you get a sampling of 3 different kinds of French toast and I like variety so this is perfect. The vibe is casual and I would say fun, very chill. They serve mimosa flights too and some cocktails if you're into that for brunch. They have a parking lot and I think they have a waitlist in yelp which I didn't even use as I might be early enough and got in before they got busy. When my cousin finally arrived they ordered the chicken and waffle and I believe a chicken wrap. I didn't try it but they seem to enjoy their food.

This cafe is attached to the hotel, so you'll walk into the lobby first and the entrance to the cafe is right there. We parked on the street nearby, but they do have a parking lot that we missed - not sure if it's free. It's a casual ambiance, good spot to hangout with friends and has plenty of seating indoors and shaded patio seating. Service was fast and friendly and food was yummy. I'd come back here again!

Chicken Caesar Wrap

Dare I say best chicken Caesar wrap I've had so far? I love that they toast the tortilla to a crisp. The food was good and we got seated right away. Our server was so sweet and passionate as he had created the menu templates so they are really part of the team. It's really cute in the hotel and at the time we went it was free parking as valet was not out yet. Also heard that they started happy hour and also have bottomless mimosas so we'll definitely be back.

What can I say! Still good. I come here occasionally for brunch when I can because of my hectic schedule, and every time I do come it does not disappoint. One of the best brunch spots in Ktown. Good Service, good food, and good brunch bevies. Ambiance is vibey, and there can be a wait on busy weekends but overall still one of my top places

I want to give the place so much more love I bought to mimosa flights and was very disappointed in the champagne choice. Promotions showed a higher quality brand. Service was the highlight. Everyone is very attentive and helpful. This small anquaint cafe and connected to the H Hotel.

Staff and service are always so nice. Been here 3 times and it's a beautiful brunch spot. I'm coming back to try more items on the menu! So good truly.

As a restaurant/cafe for Ktown, I would definitely recommend for the parking! Parking is free and valeted for this spot in Ktown! For food, the PORTIONS were HUGE and great! I got the Mac and cheese and it was nice and creamy with a panko crust which added a bit of extra crunch! However, for the California burrito, they had a LOT of potatoes which was really filling! For ambiance, it was pretty loud! However, for service, I raised my hand for about 3-5 minutes and didn't really get service until I flagged down a waiter/server by having direct eye contact with one. TIP: There's FREE parking where you can drive into their parking lot and they have restrooms!

Perfect brunch spot with friends or even for a date. They have a wonderful menu & everything is pretty flavorful. My favorites are definitely the chilaquiles! Would definitely come back

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and then I was suddenly in the area! It's casual but the food was good! I had chicken with waffles and it was not dry which happens with fried chicken most of the time and my boyfriend had the buffalo chicken sliders which also were good! And I had the Mimosa flight which you must try as there are so many flavours available. Our waitress was really nice and helped me pick which ones! We will definitely be back

H Café was always on my list but it being in k town made it not as immediate to try because of the location. Thankfully we got lucky with parking but it is very very rough at times but thats expected for k town lol. The menu had a variety of options but I had heard much about the pancakes and I knew I had to try it which ended up being pretty good! I didn't think the lemonade was really good as described but the service was decent and the ambiance was cute throughout it.

ORDER country breakfast burrito -- hot sauce, guac, gravy, and sour cream on the side it was honestly just so bland :') the flavor was so light, i didn't really taste anything besides the hint of gravy. i didn't want my burrito to get soggy, so i asked for everything the burrito would be topped with to go on the side. it is super filling. the burger was delicious though! SERVICE soso friendly and accommodating. AMBIANCE there is street parking and valet parking on the side (no one was working valet when i went). outdoor and indoor seating available.

The vibe was so mellow and chill with an eclectic choice in music. Brea was my server and was the realest serve making the experience so pleasant. She gave EXCELLENT recommendation when it came to deciding on a meal. Ended up getting the egg Benedict with crab and avocado and BAY BEE!! It was out of this world. Was able to wash it down with a dirty matcha latte that was right on point and the lavender sweetener couldn't have been the better choice. Must say this has definitely been a spot I will have to come back again. Definitely one for the books for me. Thank you for your service

Good thing we had a reservation because the place was very busy. It was EXTREMELY hot inside the restaurant that day. We weren't sure if it's normally like that or if their air conditioning went out. They had a large fan inside but it wasn't really helping keep the restaurant cool...unless you were sitting in front of it. Service was VERY slow. We were seated about 10:35 (with a 10:30 am reservation) and we received our food about 11:15 am. We ordered the Biscuits & Gravy, the Crab Benedict, and the Waffle Sandwich. It seemed like they were short staffed. Our server brought us water, took our order, and brought out two of our three meals. The third meal came out a bit later by another server. We never saw him after that. We had to get our bill from another server. The food was delicious. Portions were just right. We came hungry and we inhaled it all. We loved the hash brown brick and the chicken tasted amazing.

It feels like a…read morehidden gem in The Bloc, and is infinitely better than the always-crowded and usually-mediocre Joey DTLA right above it. This past visit I came with a large group and was still seated immediately. I didn't realize just how large it is inside, as I usually am towards the front or on the small front patio. ANYWAY The Korean wings were very good but admittedly could have been a bit spicier. The loaded fries had a bit too much melty cheese on top that oversaturated the other ingredients. The chicken quesadilla was I enjoyed but was a little basic. Last time I was here before this I had a chicken tikka quesadilla which I think was a more inventive dish that is certainly more memorable than this one. Small critiques but I do very much enjoy District and will one day come not just for happy hour. The cocktail of the day is usually good!

I ordered the pork ribs and they were delicious! They were tender, flavorful and served hot as in temperature so I was very pleased. For my sides I had ordered the sauteéd garlic spinach and a vegetable medly. I ate and enjoyed everything on my plate. I wasn't a fan of their margarita with a splash of soda, so they made another one without hesitation and it was terrific--well balanced. It wasn't too tart nor too sweet. I had been to The Bloc several times before but I had never noticed District's location until I took the Metro train and exited the station and passed it. District is on the lower level next to Starbucks.

It's the rooftop restaurant and bar at the DTLA Proper Hotel, a very stylish spot with killer north and west views, even with partial diminishment by a recently built residential high-rise. The hotel's cute pool is adjacent to Cara Cara, and hotel guests can order drinks (and maybe even food) poolside from the restaurant staff. Cara Cara has 2 levels, the lower level seems to be just for drinks. There's a DJ here some nights. Cara Cara initially was a small plates place overseen by famed chef Suzanne Goin, who also helmed Proper's then signature restaurant Caldo Verde on the ground floor. Suzanne is no longer, Caldo Verde is now named Cabrillo and serves breakfast only. Cara Cara's menu is revamped and includes larger plates on its varied menu. I ordered 2 spirit-free drinks, Passion Fire and Strawberry Lemonade, both appropriately fruity. I started with the Cara Cara Chopped Salad, which is now kind of Southwestern-ish with corn, jicama, avocado, tortilla strips, queso fresco and a tangy chili-shallot vinaigrette. Very tasty, quite different from the previous chopped salad I had here that had beets and sweet potatoes amongst its ingredients. My main choice was the Golden Hour Burger, quite substantial with cheese, lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. The house-made thousand island was flecked with red chiles, a bit too spicy for me. The herbed fries were great. Dessert was a Strawberry Churro Cheesecake Bar, a delicious short-in-height cheesecake atop a traditional graham cracker (I think) crust, topped with lime Chantilly cream, macerated strawberries and bunuelo (churro) crisps. Service was fine. My former regular server at Caldo Verde, Steven, saw me and it was nice to reconnect. Come for the view, stay for the food and drinks. I'd rank their rooftop view better than that at nearby hotels the Hoxton and the STILE (formerly Ace).

This restaurant is set in the Hauser and Wirth art Gallery complex and since we got there early we toured the front gallery with an incredible assist from a docent named Michael who pointed out the most incredible pieces and steered us to the gallery at the back of the complex behind Manuela's. Both galleries are worth exploring. However, back to Manuela's. Our very friendly server sat us on the large wraparound patio and after my explaining my celiac issues and getting some guidance on their incredible menu, we shared the following after my friend ordered a delicious Sangria while knowing as a lightweight and cheap date I would be having 6 cocktails later, I ordered the Ta Ta Tatiana- Watermelon, ginger, honey, lemon, mint, bitters: Cast iron cornbread, cultured butter, wildflower honey Kusshi oysters, Nantes carrot mignonette Arugula, emerald beauty plum, goat cheese, spiced pecans, aged balsamic Hokkaido scallops, brown butter-bacon vinaigrette, mustard greens The oysters came out first and had a delightful and unusual carrot mignonette. Small and not like Louisiana Gulf Oysters, they were fresh and delicious. Next came the Arugula salad that was tart and tasty as well as a generous portion. The cast iron cornbread was ridiculously so good I joked that I would just order two of them next time. This joint actually makes their cornbread without flour which is sadly rare for me so not only was this a gluten free treat, it was light and just melted in blissful corn flavor. Last came the scallops in a brown butter bacon vinaigrette with mustard greens that was so perfectly prepared these might be the best scallops I've ever eaten, which can sometimes be dicey. With the sauce they could have served blackened, sautéed asphalt and it would have tasted good. Well done to Manuela's all around.
