My boyfriend and I came here excited to try a place in the neighborhood. We were looking for a good sushi and sake deal, which we got. However, the service was terrible! It saddens me to write this, but I have to share. Food: $30 for all you can eat sushi. We had to ask twice if they had any specials going on, because they didn't present the AYCE menu with the regular menu. They are pretty much the same, minus a few special rolls. Fish tasted fresh. Drinks: $3 for a small hot or cold sake $4 for a large hot or cold sake - great deal! Service: These people were very rude! My boyfriend and I eat our frequently, and are very personable people. We like to have fun and play around. The servers visibly rolled their eyes at us multiple times, and often made it seem like they couldn't understand what we were saying. There was a decent amount of rice in the nigiri, so we only ate half of it, leaving the rest on the plate. They made a very big deal out of this. They said next time we have to eat the rice, or not order the nigiri. I would understand if it was fish that we weren't eating, but it was some rice. Come on! It is really unfortunate! I tried Hamachi 34 yesterday for lunch. I asked to sit at the sushi bar, but they said it wasn't available because they were doing prep; so I sat in a booth. You can get a good bang for your buck here, but the sushi is pretty basic stuff, nothing exciting. I ordered the sushi & sashimi lunch combo. It contained lots of fish, mainly tuna and salmon. Except for one piece, it seemed fresh, but it was served colder than it should have been. This huge plate of fish was $17. The lunch also came with miso soup, which was not very tasty. I also ordered a large hot sake, which was good. The restaurant itself, with high ceilings, was like a barn and freezing, almost as cold as outdoors. This was despite a heater 3 feet away from me. It is kind of hard to enjoy your meal when you are so cold. The service was fine, and the servers were friendly. I arrived at 2:45, and they stop serving lunch at 3:30. The thing that really turned me off was that, shortly before 3:30 I wanted to order another sake, and they refused to serve it, saying the kitchen was closed (Side note: sake doesn't come from the kitchen) . I wanted to chill for a few more minutes but, when I asked if I had to leave at 3:30 I was told: Yes. It is totally ridiculous that I couldn't just sit there for a few more minutes. Some Japanese restaurants are notorious for just throwing you out when they want to stop serving. I can understand this late at night when they want to go home, but at 3:30 in the afternoon, they had to be there anyway, and they had given me the check before I even asked for it (They are definitely efficient.) This totally turned me off, and I won't return. There are many sushi restaurants in NYC, but not many that are both reasonable and enjoyable. read more

This place is one of my favorite sushi places in the city and the ambiance in the restaurant has an anime vibe (even in the bathroom). The sushi taste great and the portions are very big. I usually only order this on uber eats since they have a discount. The only reason I didnt give this place 5 stars was because to my order adjustments with grubhub. A couple weeks ago I placed an order on grubhub for their 3 roll lunch specials at 4pm and it never stated on the grubhub site about the time length for their lunch special. I placed my order in for $16 but was surprised to find out that my order was adjusted to $21 out of nowhere when I was like 5 mins from the restaurant. This annoyed me because if I knew I was going to pay an extra $5, I would have just ordered locally instead. They need to fix their lunch special option on grubhub or at least put like Lunch Special from 11:30am-3:00pm or something like that. read more

This review is strictly about takeout, not dine-in. I had a fierce sushi craving, and the place I usually order from was closed for some odd reason. Hearing about Nomado 33, and passing it all the time, I figured why not give it a try. Though I know this spot is famous for its special rolls, I was feeling simple and ordered the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail combo. Mind you, I have a rule about eating raw fish on Sundays and Mondays (it's not as fresh), but dammit craving, ya got the best of me. The sushi was very good, very fresh, and usually when I order my rolls with brown rice, the rice itself isn't so sticky so it always falls off the seaweed. NOT AT NOMADO! They used very fine brown rice, and not much of it (thanks for saving me some carbs!) so you could taste more of the fish and less of the rice. Yummy. I ordered a side of eel sauce, which in my opinion was slightly watery, a side of extra ginger, which was A LOT of extra ginger, and a miso soup, which came in a bigger container than other sushi restaurants and was also very tasty. I'd come back to Nomado to try the special rolls. And when I stopped in to pick up my order, it's very nice and trendy inside, so perhaps I won't use my handy dandy seamless app and go out for dinner. read more

I've come here for lunch a couple of times since it's near my work. They have a pretty good sushi lunch special - 2 rolls with miso soup and salad for $10.95. The food is fresh and they're generous with the fish portions. It's enough food for me for lunch. I've also gotten the salmon teriyaki bento box lunch special as well and it's a lot of food. You get salmon teriyaki, rice, California roll, shumai, miso soup, and salad. They also have noodles (soba or udon) and donburi (pork cutlet or eel over rice dishes). I also like that they have free hot green tea with refills. Service is fast and attentive. It's a decent place in midtown for lunch. read more

There was no problem with seating the resturant was half full. The servers were very rude,unfriendly and outright disrespectful. The sushi it self was sub par and flat. I got horrible food poisoning from this place. We ordered crispy rice with spicy tuna, miso soup, a California roll, and agedashi tofu. The spicy tuna was the color of hot Cheetos and had zero flavor. The miso soup also had minimal flavor yet also tasted of toilet water. The agedashi tofu had moving shavings on top of it that smelled like rotten fish. Because of the appearance and smell of two of the dishes we didn't even manage to eat more than a bite of the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the agedashi tofu and somehow managed to get horrible food poisoning at 4 in the morning from the California roll and miso soup alone. I was looking at the photos of this place and studied the menu before coming here. I came upon a Yelper's photo of something that looked like tiny sandwiches, which I later found out were called "pizza rolls", but really didn't even look like rolls...more like sandwiches and they're not all that tiny. I just had to come here after how much I was salivating from that single photo. I ordered the nabe yaki udon and the pizza rolls. Waitress: "Are you really hungry?" Me: "Um, I think so...why? Are they really large or something?" For one person, an order of pizza rolls would've been enough. But for a greedy person, an order of pizza rolls and udon was more than enough. I was starting to feel full after my second pizza roll. Oopsie! I made a poopsie! I ended up finishing my udon noodles instead and doggy bagging the rest of my pizza rolls to go. So much for thinking of ordering dessert, after all that. The waitress, Anna was extremely polite and attentive. I really enjoyed her service. There's a coat rack in the middle of the restaurant, so you can hang up your bulky coats during the colder weather. I highly recommend trying the pizza rolls! Nomado 33 is one of those go to sushi spots located in Murray Hill. I went last week with my boyfriend to grab a bite to eat during lunch. They actually have quite a large selection of lunch specials, which are all very affordable. After looking over the menu, in my hungry state, we decided rather quickly to share a bento box & the sushi roll lunch specials. We ordered the chicken tempura bento box that brings chicken tempura along with some veggies, white rice, california roll, and shumai (dumplings). Nothing really stood out from the bento box except the shumai. I tend to get steamed shumai as the standard choice with any bento box, but this time around I got fried, which is why this stood out. Overall, everything was yummy. Now onto the rolls, we shared a spicy salmon, spicy white tuna, and eel & avocado roll with a side of eel sauce. Yum! The rolls were fresh, tasty, and extremely affordable at $12.50, I believe, for all 3 rolls along with a miso soup and salad. Not only was the food good, but service was quick and friendly. Holy pizza roll! This place is great! I went with some girlfriends on a Thursday night around 8 pm and the place was pretty packed, but in a comfortable sort of way. We ordered: - Pizza roll: I was hesitant given the name but it was flippin' awesome! The roll in itself could have been a meal, it was that big! - Dream roll: My favorite roll out of our entire order. It was flavorful with a spicy kick, and I want more! - Tempura banana: Can't comment since I ate most of the other two (oops!) - Shrimp tempura: Good tempura, not mind blowing, but good! Our bill came out to be just shy of $60 for four people with tip, which I thought was pretty good for all that we got, and a few drinks. I've been here several times and there is never a wait. At my most recent visit, they had expanded their Happy Hour deals to include sushi. 2 specialty rolls for $22!! And honestly even without the HH deal, the prices are extremely reasonable and the quality of sushi is fantastic. I've only dined here with pretty large groups so I can't exactly pinpoint specific rolls that I like. But I do know that every time I come here somebody orders the crazy roll and the nomado roll. I've said it before and I'll say it again: with great drinking comes great eating. I went to Nomado 33 for a late dinner on St. Paddy's. This was after having drinks and food at Death + Co. AND Angel's Share so I'm not sure where I acquired the stomach room for this meal. I must be a god. We were all very surprised I lasted that long in the first place but I was so very happy for sushi. At Nomado, I had a miso soup, spicy tuna roll, and some nigiri consisting of king salmon, fatty tuna belly and kanpachi. Even in my buzzed state I could taste that the kanpachi was fishy. Such a shame. The tuna belly was amazing though. Thick and buttery. I highly recommend that. The rest I do not remember as clearly. My tuna roll was decent but nothing memorable obviously. I also had bites of other peoples rolls which were quite tasty. I remember trying something called a "pizza roll" whose pieces were shaped like large tea sandwiches aka right triangles. Now that was good. I didn't mean to eat half of my neighbor's roll but these things tend to happen especially when sake is involved. Tip: I would eat those triangle pieces in two bites otherwise you're going to look like John Belushi from the cafeteria scene in Animal House. My group also had a bottle of hot sake and a pint of Sapporo each. We took our time eating, drinking and talking. Too bad most of the conversation was annoying and at some points insulting due to a specific individual but I still enjoyed my meal overall. Great service from our waitress. I'm sure I'll be seeing Nomado 33 a lot in the upcoming months so I look forward to eating more of that tuna belly. read more

I truly have to say, after reading some of the reviews, I am appalled. I have been coming to Nomado since the time it opened, so I can say from experience this place is good. I've tried many Japanese restaurants throughout the city and by far Nomado 33 is my favorite. The food here is great, the rolls are genuinely a good size, but when you order any of the special rolls; they are enormous. I enjoy coming all the time, I love how this place is not too fancy but just right. The wait staff are great too always polite and willing to do anything to help the consumers and when I am willing, I have never seen a restaurant where the manager is around making sure people are doing well. I also, don't agreed with some people when they said that they thought the miso was too salty. I also have the miso soup and it is always good. In regards to the tidiness of the restaurant, when I first started coming here, I happened to see 1 bug and I told the manager about the issue and right on the spot, the manager jumps to the situation right away. Never had i seen a manager take the concern and consideration of the customer so well. The minute i told the manager, they immediate apologized for it and assured me that it would be taken care of it and it was. Like i said before, I come here all the time and never seen anymore again. I will say this, everyone has their preferences, some more than others. You have to remember, this is not some fancy 5 star restaurant, its more of a nice local restaurant that is very nonchalant. But I will definitely say, you gotta give this place a try before you base your opinion from other people. Having a true experience, you have to take it by yourself.
