There are not enough ways to say how much I love this restaurant! I've had multiple dishes on their menu and have loved them all. The first one I get is the octopus that's on a hot pan with rice! It's amazing! And I don't even like seafood in general, but when it's good I appreciate it even more. My go to dish is their kimchi pork belly soup, it is the standard! All the food here tastes home cooked. I've never been disappointed. The service is second to none. I'm always taken care of. The service of quick and friendly. They're usually busy but always find the time to make you feel welcomed. The ambiance is great! The location itself is in a busy shopping center with valet. Earlier in the day you can self park. Craving jeon on a rainy Sunday, came back for the assorted jeon. It was superb! We stopped by at 2 pm and they let us know they close at 3 pm. We got our food quickly and everything was so delicious. We also ordered pork belly kimchi stew and beef deonjang which were both good and tasted homey. My husband asked why we didn't come back since the last visit and said this place will need to be put in our regular restaurant rotation...that's how good the food is here. It was my friends and I second time trying raw marinated crab and it was amazing! We were planning on going to an all you can eat place but was worried because of the mixed reviews so we chose HanEuem. The soy marinated crab was a bit salty but paired with the rice it was amazing! The crab meat was sweet and umami. We thought the crab itself had a really hard shell which made it hard to eat but overall it was still very good. We also got the spicy marinated crab and this one was so well marinated and it was a different type of crab. The crab had a softer shell and it was way easier to get the meet out. At first the spicy marinated is super sweet but it pairs so perfectly well with the crab. I personally liked the spicy marinated crab better since the meat was plentiful compared to the soy marinated one however both are great choices. The price was also really good with 5 soy sauce crabs for 45 and the spicy marinated crab for 32. The service was also great. They knew we were gonna get pretty messy so they brought us plenty of napkins and gloves to eat with. I would definitely come check this place out chef Kang never disappoints. read more

I live within walking distance of HanEuem and have been in for lunch a couple of times. I really loved it my first visit and was less impressed when I went back, but it's a decent homestyle Korean restaurant with a large menu. Always a good thing to have in my back pocket. HanEuem is one of Chef Kang's restaurants, of which there are several around Koreatown. Who is Chef Kang? I don't really know, but he puts his name everywhere, and I think he does well among non-Koreans, with a bit of a second-gen vibe to the branding. HanEuem has a detailed menu explaining each dish in English, and it includes a curated soju list. It's still a Korean restaurant in a KTown strip mall--a particularly big one at 6th and Western--next to what used to be Mr. Coffee. Valet parking even at lunchtime, the kind that might sign off while you eat and come into the restaurant to return your key and collect payment (helpfully, you can pay on VenMo now). The space is like 10% cuter than the average Korean joint, casual and put together, if not especially high on atmosphere. Service is pretty inattentive. HanEuem would be better with the standard Koreatown service button. The food is solid. Every meal includes purple rice and a nice spread of banchan: odaeng, japchae, namul, kimchi, maybe some fried anchovies. If you like Korean pancakes, there are several options available, all of which are probably good to share. I've tried the nokdu bindaettuk, made with ground mung beans and chopped pork and served with soy dipping sauce. Not a game changer, but a good enough version of a very popular Korean street food. HanEuem isn't a seafood specialist, but you can get saewoojang and ganjang gaejang here, and I find both of those hard to resist. The saewoojang is messy but great: bouncy, flavorful, soy sauce-fermented raw shrimp. The gaejang is a B+. I love ganjang gaejang, a dish of goey, gelatinous soy sauce-marinated raw crab. HanEuem's isn't bad, and it came with a bowl of toppings for a build-your-own bibimbap. Seaweed, pickles, fish eggs, sesame seeds, sesame oil, all ready to dump into a crab shell and mix with rice (not that we were given any instructions). I've had better gaejang, though, and it's just not the thing to get here. I like this place for the big, hearty dishes, satisfying and made to share. The spicy galbijjim is a winner, braised beef short ribs in a spicy marinade, topped with mozzarella cheese. It comes on its own little burner and the cheese gets melted with a hit from a blowtorch. The beef is spicy and addictive, as are the hunks of potato, which really take well to that marinade. I like the woogeoji galbitang too, a prime short rib and green cabbage soup. Is it better at, say, Sun Nong Dan? Sure. But HanEuem's is tasty, stewy and comforting. If you're here for lunch, I'd also recommend the kimchi cheese bokkeumbap, which is a lunch-only item. It's a delicious fried rice with kimchi and cheese, topped with a fried egg. I have a number of Koreatown favorites and HanEuem isn't one of them, but I'm still glad that it's around. It's close and easy with some strong homestyle cooking. I'm sure I'll keep going every now and then. read more

Super delicious raw crab spot! Probably my second favorite after master ha. I got the soy marinated as well as the assorted meat pancake platter. The crab was fresh and I liked the little seaweed mix they gave. I wish they also gave gim so I can wrap up the crab and rice to eat together. I have been wanting to try Chef Kang's new restaurant since his other pub closed down a few years ago. This is in a plaza with valet parking only, so be cautious of that. Parking in KTown will always be a struggle. The restaurant is quite small, but we came around 5:30pm so there was no wait. The menu is extensive for seafood and other Korean comfort food. The spicy squid was good, but on the expensive side for what it was. You might like the single portion with rice better than the full portion that we got. The soy marinated crabs on the other hand was SO GOOD and a really reasonable price for everything you got. I especially enjoyed the fish roe and seaweed rice that they brought on the side. There were so many dishes on the menu we wanted to try but a lot of items are already meant for 2 or 2-3 people. We ended up getting the spicy raw marinated crab, the spicy rice cake stew, the mung bean pancakes and the soy garlic bulgogi. Every was delicious. The raw crab was very good and they give you plastic gloves to use while eating. I mixed some with rice and it was awesome. The pancakes were my favorite. So flavorful and although they looked thick they were not too dense. I want to come back and try their other pancake options! Came here the other night to try their AYCE raw marinated crab. For $55/person it came with the soy marinated crab and shrimp and spicy crab. At the end, you also get crab ramen. The soy marinated crab and shrimp were a bit salty but with rice both were good. The shells were hard so I could not eat the claws. My favorite was the spicy crab! Sweet with a kick. They used bigger crabs with softer shell for the spicy version. Banchans were very tasty and refreshing. The ramen was a big surprise for me. Broth had great depth! Totally a great way to finish the meal. The inside was very modern yet cozy and very clean. Valet only in the plaza for $4. Highly recommend coming here. HanEuem is located in a small strip lot with $4.50 valet which I highly recommend and it makes it very easy. Even after eating I walked around to other spots in the lot such as Creek Tea and the liqour store and out the lot to Star Night and other pochas to keep the night going a little longer. The wait on a Friday night around 7:30 was about 10m which was real easy as the inside is quaint and not the largest but nice with split tables of seating and booths. The service was really quick and they brought out not only the beverages and drinks immediately but the food was served within minutes. 5 minutes after ordering we had our full spread. The banchan is pretty standard and we didn't bother to ask for more as table sizes are indeed small so if you're ordering several entrees to share you will have a space issue especially since the food is served quick. The toppoki is served with glass noodles and over a flame and got thicker over time and was delicious and basic. There's a good amount of fish cake in there and a little less rice cakes. There's seafood pancake was packed with seafood and thick over a hot plate and the two sauce trays vs only getting one was a nice touch. The cockle bibimbap surprised the whole table. It is damn good. The galbi jjim is tender and sweet rather than spicy and has your typical rice cakes, potatoes, and vegetables inside and was the star of the night. Overall I enjoyed my time here and have noticed that they open late and love that they don't have crazy wait times and quality food. I can't wait to come back and try stir fried squid, raw marinated crab, raw marinated shrimp, various stews, and other dishes in general alongside their "premium" soju bottle options. read more

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised, as a Korean I gotta say this place nails that authentic spice, lots of garlic, lots of ginger, IYKYK you can't replicate this flavor without going the OG way. Every dish we ordered was great but i gotta say the marinated shrimp was something else, they must have a solid seafood source because wow, I've had kbbq with less meat than that, even asides from the shrimp itself the marinade was perfectly sweet and tart at the same time. All the food was good, but if you get too many of the same type of food, they start to taste the same. For example the raw spicy crab, chicken with potato, and spicy galbi jjim with cheese started to taste too similar. Vary your choices. The staff was nice and attentive! I wish there had been more seafood in it, but it was really good. The star of the show was the spicy raw crab. The interesting thing about it is that the first bite tastes good. You don't initially think much of it, but after the fourth or fifth bite, it becomes more and more addictive to the point where you're craving more when you're finished. We came on a Wednesday night for a party of 5 and the wait was ~ 30 minutes for a table inside. We ordered first when waiting at the outdoor table so when we were seated, the food was served immediately. Banchans: They gave us 5 different type of banchans. A lot of them were different/unique but didn't taste good to me. However, my friends enjoyed them. I liked the kimchi.The bean sprout banchan was okay. The small mushroom banchan was a hit or miss. The shishito pepper was a no for me. And I don't know what the last one is but I didn't like it either. Jinro Chamisul Fresh Soju ($14.99): My friend likes to order this one since she says it's more alcohol. I don't like the alcohol taste and prefer the flavored version but this one is good for taking shots with. Stirred Fried Pork Belly With Boiled Tofu ($30): This was good & interesting. The pork belly didn't taste like pork belly nor was it fatty. It was more like thin bacon to me. The same could be said for the kimchi. They somehow cooked the kimchi and pork belly in a way that they're enjoyed as a cohesive dish. The tofu wasn't marinated so it served as a palette cleanser to me. Spicy Marinated Fresh Raw Crabs ($32): This was my first time trying raw crab and it wasn't too bad. It has a bit of a slimy texture which I don't like but it was heavily drenched in the spicy marinade so it helped mask the texture/raw taste. Overall flavor was good though. However, my Korean friend and friend who went to Korea said the raw crab is better in the soy based marinade similar to the one used for the wagyu beef back ribs. Korean BBQ Lateral Cut Angus Beef Short Ribs ($32): They gave us 2 slices of short rib which I think is too little for the price; I think it should be 3 slices. They didn't cut the meat either so we had to do it ourselves. I thought the short ribs were okay and that there are better short ribs at other restaurants. Braised Wagyu Beef Ribs ($50): This came with 4 ribs and were the star of the show. The meat was flavorful but a bit dry and hard to get off the bone to eat. The sauce was so freaking delicious we poured it on our rice and even took the leftover sauce home to marinate my tofu in. Recommend! read more

Pork belly, baby octopus, and bean sprouts with spicy Korean sauce... Delicious with the rice! - Tofu and mushroom hot pot stew (dooboo ungo), $40: this was an enormous portion of tofu and mushrooms served over a burner to keep the soup warm. They used different types of mushrooms (shitake, oyster) and diff types of tofu as well. Very simple dish, complemented the very flavorful pork and octopus dish perfectly. The banchan were all delicious too, especially the squid in the gochujang. There were so many other entrees on the menu that we wanted to try including all of their different pancakes, so we will have to come back another time to try them out! The servings are huge though. We had so much leftover food after ordering just those 2 entrees! Parking is tough in this area though (as it is for pretty much all of K-Town). They have a small lot but it's valet after dark - would still opt for it since parking is kind of rough around this area unless you're willing to walk far. She was very friendly and approachable and made sure we had everything we needed. Ok now the food! We ordered the rice cake stew and pork belly kimchi pancake. Today at Haneum, we tried the baby octopus dish, the seasoned whelk dish, and 4 wagu ribs. First off, the portions are large. We were a party of 3, and there was a lot of food leftover to take home. 1. Jukumi Baby octopus dish: the combination of baby octopus, pork belly, and bean sprouts on a sizzling plate was yummy. The spicy and soft chewy octopus was perfectly cooked. 2. Spicy whelk salad: this is a cold, but hot & spicier salad. This dish will hit the spot for anyone that can take the heat. The chewy seasoned whelk was tasty too, and a great combo. There was a lot left over to take home, and I'm already thinking of boiling some rice noodles to mix with this spicy salad for lunch tomorrow. 3. 4 Wagu ribs are so tender and tasty! The seasoning is not too salty, and just right. They give you purple rice, and it's so good together. Our friendly server kindly cut the rib meat off the bone with scissors at our table. I normally don't like Korean pancake because there's more batter than anything but this one has the perfect balance of batter to seafood. The chicken and potato stew was so flavorful and filling. Lastly the raw shrimp!!! First time trying raw shrimp and it was surprisingly good. I didn't expect it to have a subtle sweetness mixed with the soy sauce. The restaurant is super clean and service was great. Parking is valet only at $4. Overall amazing meal. Will be back for more read more
