I was really looking forward to this and to be honest after the food didn't really blow my mind. Here were some of the highlight dishes. Braised Waygu Beef Ribs $59- This was fantastic so tender and delicious the light soy broth wasn't to sweet which was great. Mo Doon Jun $42- Combination mix pancake. This was great. Simple drinking food right there. Banchan was fantastic especially the kimchi. Here are the dishes I wouldn't order again. LA Galbi $30 - Very disappointing. I was expecting a little more then 3 cuts of Galbi for $30. Plus the meat was chewy and mostly fat. Flavor were there. Pork Belly Kimchi Pancake $20- Size of a medium pizza but the barely any pork and flavor. The dipping sauce is delicious and helped a lot. Mix feeling dish. Spicy Skate Ray Fish w/ Veggie Mix $30 - Just way to sweet. It wasn't even close to being spicy. If this dish can out spicy than sweet it would have been fantastic. Love the texture of the skate ray. Located in a small strip center is a jewel. A small, quaint and clean restaurant with respectful and quick service. The walls are lined with wood giving it a warm feel. Parking is valet only so be prepared for that. The food was quick and hot. Most of all it was super tasty. Spicy but not too spicy. For a Korean restaurant in the heart of Ktown, I had some high expectations. HanEuem does some things well, but fell short of what I really wanted. The highlight of our meal was definitely the spicy seafood plate. It was flavorful, spicy and filled with octopus. I can see why a lot of people keep coming back. The service was quick and the ambiance is pretty lively even though we went when they just opened. The bulgogi was a disappointment however as the flavors just didn't work for me. A little too sweet and maybe too much sesame oil? I ended up dipping the beer in the sauce from the spicy seafood and that made it better. Hit or miss restaurant but overall great vibes and I can see myself coming back for the spicy seafood. read more

We were lucky to find a street parking on Friday night so we didn't really have to worry about parking here. Seems like there is a parking spot in front of the restaurant but I think it is a valet parking only. There was no line which was a plus The food tho..... Came by with a party of six for brunch. Was at first pleasantly surprised at the lack of a line. Unfortunately we found this to be some of the most over-salted food we've encountered outside of a chain restaurant. If you are here drinking a lot of soju, perhaps you may not notice, but at brunch, the over-salting was painfully apparent. Both my partner and I felt lethargic hours after our meal. The coating of salt on the inside of my mouth would just not go away. The seafood pancake was not fully cooked on the inside when it came out, either. I can't understand the hype. read more

We came during a Wed night at 7pm and there were plenty of open seating. The server quickly seated us and promptly took our order. The interior felt homey, like a classic no frills korean restaurant. The atmosphere felt pretty casual. Food: I ordered a couple of items to try: - Seafood Green Onion Pancake- Honestly one of the best I've ever tried. There's lots of substance and has amazing flavor. I was pretty shocked at how much they've elevated this dish. - Grilled Hagfish Eel- Flavorful with a nice spicy kick. Although I feel this dish is best paired with their soju options. I'll start this off by saying I probably made mistake ordering LA galbi here, but they didn't have the Wagyu Braised ribs and the galbi was recommended. Having said that....I will add this: If you're a Korean restaurant and can't even make LA Galbi properly IN LA...what are you even doing here? I have never in my entire life ever returned galbi before, but here we are. I've had better galbi at the Ktown Plaza food court. It was overcooked to death making it extremely chewy and unflavorful. Chef Kang's modernized traditional Korean dishes are the the theme of this restaurant. The menu reads like just another traditional Korean diner but many of the dishes have been enhanced with a modern though. The banchans are really good and they are a definite draw. The seafood pancake was enhanced with a bit of what appeared to be hash brown potatoes which gave the pancake a crunchy crust. While the flavor was decent only seafood I tasted was squid. I would've preferred a little more variety. The braised wagyu short rib was tender and delicious. Definitely recommend. I will be back to try some other dishes. read more

For most part SF Korean restaurants have underwhelmed. It's possible the focus being Korean bbq makes for a sameness, unless there's more to Korean bbq than meets the eye, or whatever sensory equipment you go to. There's also the fact that the community is relatively small in number, and there's no comparison with that in LA. The majority of Korean electronics distributors is the driver there. Cars maybe? Certainly need more than Korean ramen in a cuppa soup to keep this going, as after all it can't be that big an employer. Anyway on this trip we decided to eat Korean while there, this being the largest Korean population in the world outside of... well, Korea itself. If I recall correctly, over a period of 4 days we had lunch and/or dinner at perhaps half a dozen of these. They difered wildly, most being pretty sparse in atmosphere and while there were a few items common to all, there was a surprising number on the menu that didn't seem so standard. Anyway, this was the best of the ones we tried. My favorite was a mackerel and radish item, spicy o course, as well as a pork belly/octopus creation. Food was interesting and the venue stylish in comparison to most others. Still the location is typically corner minimall and you only hope there's room in the lot outside as otherwise it's quite a walk in the dark to find street parking. I don't think I'll do the other 6 or so. Korean restaurants, sans bbq, are fine but with nowhere near the diverse flavors of Chinese. All this is imho of course. YMMV... and most likely will. read more

Parking is a bit difficult in this plaza, especially if valet gets all filled up. Braised Wagyu Beef Back Ribs - Amazing ! These were so tender and the sauce was flavorful. The server offered to cut the beefy off the bone for us, which was super helpful ! Spicy Squid and Veggie Stir Fry - Delicious ! This was a bit spicy (at least for me lol), but the flavor was good ! This place is a gem in koreatown that I kind of hope stays low key so the lines won't go out the door. They do valet parking for $4, but it can be pretty hectic just like the rest of the Ktown lots. The place just feels clean and the service is always great. But the food is where this place shines. Almost everything is amazing... our favorites are the pork and octopus stir fry, prime rib and cabbage stew, and the sea snail veggie mix (gor bang yi moochim). Everything has a little kick but nothing that would kill you. The more common Korea dishes are also really good like the pork belly kimchi pancake and the galbi. 3/19/22 HanEuem was the place we were looking for because they make authentic Korean food and they have outdoor seating so Coco could join us. We were unable to find street parking close by so we tried for the parking lot. The parking lot spaces are super narrow, and you have to pay $3. After we parked in the parking lot, we asked one of the HanEuem staff if this was lagit and he said yes. Our waitress brought out menus and a water bowl for Coco. Here is what we ordered: 1. Spicy whole chicken and potato stew (share) While we were waiting, the waitress brought purple rice and four dishes of bonchon. The purple rice was really good and the kimchi was spicier than I normally eat but I enjoyed it. We waited about 20 minutes for the stew to arrive and we could smell it before it got to the table because it smelled delicious. It was very fragrant, also spicy but super good. Since it was a whole chicken chopped up in there, we had to get the meat off the bones; so a little more work to eat but so worth it. The potatoes were soft and melted in your mouth. The restaurant is located in a plaza near 6th Street and Western. Valet parking was $4, and the surrounding streets have meters if you want to try your luck. I would call ahead and make a reservation as a precaution if you're planning to go for dinner. They serve soups/stews, grilled meats, Korean pancakes, signature seafood dishes, and more. Beverages include soju, draft beer, ice tea, wine, and other soft drinks. We ordered the braised beef rib AKA galbi-jjim (갈비찜), which is good for two to three people. They brought out a portable burner to keep the wok warm. We were treated to a mini table-side presentation when the server used a blowtorch to melt the mozzarella on top. The meat was well marinated and seasoned. It came with a spicy sauce that was jam-packed with flavor. For me the spice level was on the higher end. Texture-wise, the ribs here didn't "fall off the bone" as effortlessly as I would have liked. Other restaurants make this dish better, but it was otherwise enjoyable. Came here at 7:30pm and it was half full. We got 3 dishes and 1 drink. The LA Galbi was so delicious and tender. I also love it came in the sizzling plate with some onions on the bottom of the galbi. The kimchi stew was delicious. It's a bit sweet and sour, but had a great balance. We also got the kimchi pork belly pancake. The pancake is very big and can feed 3 or 4 people. It was really good just wish it was a bit crispy. And as for the lavender milk tea, it was very beautiful presentation. The tea itself was very good flavor but really heavy on the milk. It was very milky and not much tea. I love all the banchan they provided and noticed that it's varies a bit day to day. We got alot of food for 2 people and they had to put in an extra table for us. I came here for the Yelp! Taste of Korea Elite Experience. Thank you so much to Yelp and to HanEuem for making this possible. I came with a friend to have dinner. The parking lot was valet only so we drove around and found street parking close by. It's free after 6pm. They were pretty packed but we were able to get a seat quickly. I think there were only two waitstaff working that evening so it took a little while but they were great and working so hard. I got the Kalbi short ribs and kim chi stew, as well as the spicy squid and vegetable stir fry. The ribs were absolutely amazing! The squid stir fry and stew were a little too spicy for me personally, but still yummy, especially the former. My friend loved the stir fry and ribs as well. It was our 1st visit and we brought some out of town guests with us! Egg omelette - We all agreed this was everyone's favorite! So soft and tasty! I wonder how many eggs were used to cook it because the size was quite generous! Braised Waygu Beef Back Ribs - 4 huge pieces! Tofu and Mushroom hot pot stew - This needed more salt and flavoring, but it was really good as leftovers with rice once the flavored settled in overnight. Delicious, modern, and authentic Korean food! Last night, my friends and I tried the mackerel soup, braised beef ribs (갈비찜), chicken soup (닭도리탕), and pancake (파전). Everything was immaculate, and reminded me of my grandma's cooking when I was younger:') My #1 dish of the night was definitely the mackerel soup as it tasted most authentic and traditional, while my least favorite had to be the braised beef because of its overly sweetness. You may find the braised beef at Sun Nong Dan to taste better. The service was amazing though! Waiters were fast with the food and attentive to our water. I will be coming back! What an amazing find - THANK YOU Yelp!! On our recent visit to LA, we were in the area and this popped up as a Yelp recommendation. We visited on a weekday around noon and didn't need reservations (for a table of 4) but the place soon filled up so I'd definitely recommend calling ahead. The portion sizes are huge and definitely meant to be shared. The spice levels are good aka authentic (and not for the faint of heart). We tried the Korean BBQ Lateral cut Angus beef ribs, Korean pancake platter (seafood, meat and veggies), spicy whole chicken and potato stew. The stew was served on a small table top burner keeping it warm. Each and every dish was delicious, unique in taste. The kids also tried the Lavender Iced Milk Tea and it was so yummy, we were all tempted to order more but were too full. The service was amazing, very gracious and friendly. I especially loved how they asked whether we would like cold water or hot water and were served hot water in nice double walled glasses. So comforting on a cold windy day. We got beer and wanted the milk tea but they unfortunately only have whole milk (whole milk destroys me) so I opted for the earl grey sparkling instead. It had a ginger flavour too that we both enjoyed! The short ribs were to die for. It came with scissors so you decide the cut which was fine with us. Perfect amount of fat and the flavour was rich. I wanted that taste to last forever!! GET THIS!!! We asked for purple rice for the kimchi pork belly stew cause rice is life! I'm not a fan of sour. The kimchi pork belly stew was a tad sour (as predicted cause kimchi!) but I am super sensitive to sour so I'm sure most people are fine. My hubby really enjoyed the soup and kimchi while I really enjoyed the pork belly, soup with rice combo and occasionally the short ribs ofc. If we lived in LA this would be our go to!!! My friend and I ordered the skate ray fish veggie mix and the LA galbi. We never had skate day fish so didn't really know what to expect but it was pretty good! It's definitely more on the chewier end but the sauces they mixed it with was really good! The LA galbi was delicious as well. The service was impeccable throughout the night - Won Mae Plum Liqueur $28: lightly sweet and a bit tarty, reminded me of umeshu but doesn't need diluting. Dangerously delicious -Imperial Ginseng Soju: housemade 5 year old ginseng, the flavor was naturally sweet and not overwhelming at all. One of the best meals I've had in ktown. The spice level for the food here is up there but the dishes are still enjoyable. Portions are also very large so they're meant to be shared. Got the spicy rice cake stew with fish cake and veggies, seafood green onion hot plate pancake, and spicy marinated fresh raw crabs. Would recommend all of these!! It was all very fresh and delicious!! Each dish came out at the right temperature and the stew comes on a portable burner for the table so it's boiled in front of you. They also give us plastic gloves for the raw crabs so we didn't get our hands dirty from the sauce. Would definitely be back!
