When I go here, it's usually for the spicy peanut noodles (dan dan mein), the beef rolls, and the green onion pancake - I can't say the place has the best beef rolls and green onion pancakes but they are better than most of the generic types you'll find in other Chinese restaurants. The noodle dishes are also well portioned for the 5-6 bucks you'll be spending. The place is clean, neat, and feels pretty easy going - in short, this place is just reliably good. I would come here just for 2 items; the eggplant in spicy garlic sauce and XLBs. Granted these are not the best XLBs I have ever had, but they are good. We went in and it was packed on a Sunday evening. We ordered: chitterlings - well washed and perfect texture with thinly sliced ginger and sauce. We wished we could finish it all but we always order more than we can handle spicy noodle soup - fiance wanted hand cut noodles so they came out looking like small pieces of fish (to me) The fiance loves it. It was noodle soup consists of 2 pieces of shrimp, 4 small pieces of squid, small pieces of pork meat & some vegetables. I used to buy food from this place years ago that's why I know how the what they call spicy seafood noodle soup looks & tastes like. This time it is really bad and for $12 per order, this restaurant surely cheats you. There are many Chinese restaurants around the area now that are way better. The restaurant secretly raised the price of each dishes without informing the customer. What would normally cost 34 dollar (after tax) for 3 dishes is now 42 dollar. If the restaurant had been upfront about the price increase due to the situation, customer would have understood. But doing it secretly and not even showing the itemized cost on the receipt?!! Probably one of the legit Chinese places in Chino Hills. Run by Chinese folk, they have traditional Chinese dishes like things with tofu, vegetables, and MSG. They also have a green milk tea drink (but it's not colored green - go figure!). Very tasty indeed. Bottomline: A tad pricey for Chinese food, but it is good. I gave a 3 coz some times I go in the place is real smelly from stinky tofu.(I cannot stand the smell when it's too much). If only they have that air suction that can clear the stinky smell. This place is a classic Taiwanese food establishment. In the sense that you will get some really good Chinese food if you are Chinese and can speak specifically Mandarin. If not then good luck. They have pretty much whatever you'd want for a Taiwanese place, dumplings, popcorn chicken, thin sliced marinated fatty pork, it's all here. You just need to know how to get it, the best way usually being to take one of your Chinese friends hostage and going here. The place is pretty small but clean. It had this weird classic dinner plastic feel with their upholstery and flooring. It doesn't help that all the cups are also plastic if I recall correctly. I remember eating here 5 years ago and it was less then good but today I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, mixed chow menu and jjiangmyun. The food came out quickly, piping hot. The orange chicken was the BEST I've had in YEARS so fresh, tangy and crunchy, really tasty. Both the Mongolian Beef and mixed (beef, chicken, shrimp) chow menu were delicious and flavorful. A huge perk, my toddler loved the chow menu, the first time he'd even consider eating it! The portions were HUGE and prices extremely reasonable! We have leftovers to last for days! The jjiangmyun was not to my liking, it's not the jjiangmyun I'm used too (the Korean version), this was not their fault. Service was prompt and courteous. read more

I'm writing one today because I could not believe this place only has an average 3.5 Star rating. That's just a little summary of what some of these poor reviews consisted of. The internet is like the Wild West and nothing is ever fair this day and age. There are many actual good places that don't get their credit and the over-hyped places like the Dirty Penguin which continue to gain customers based on ratings alone. Got a little carried away but this is my first yelp review ever tbh. I've been to many Chinese food restaurants and none of them do their Szechuan as good as Happy Kitchen. Although you do have to tell them to make it extra spicy, especially if you don't look like you can handle spicy food ;). It's the best mouth numbing and watering spice I've ever experienced. Other good things to order are black pepper chicken, fried noodle, and string bean n ground pork. Their service has always been great and friendly. I do have to ask for chopsticks sometimes because they give me a fork. And although they just use tea bags for their tea, they keep it refilled frequently. The wait is surprisingly never long to get a table for a big party and I have had some of the most fun and bonding experiences with my friends/family here. I recommend ordering several plates and eating family style for optimum flavor experience.
