The food was delicious especially the salad was phenomenal! It was fresh, crunchy and delicious. The fries were decent, definitely way too many but that's okay! It was my first time here, and overall, the food was decent. I ordered the beer-battered fish and chips. The restaurant was quite busy, which was noticeable in the service. It took nearly 15 minutes just to get a straw for water and another 15 minutes to get the check. The atmosphere was loud and chaotic, with dishes being dropped about every 10 minutes. I've tried it, but I probably wouldn't return. read more

Wide variety of food that we were happily surprised by! Hell's Kitchen had decor that ranged from a kinda-Cajun feel to a dominant Native presence, so we were not sure what to expect with the food. The menu on the QR code (& website) had clearly marked what could be made GF on request. Our waitress also confirmed that there is a dedicated gluten free fryer! I enjoyed the Northern Poutine with bacon and will definitely look forward to trying more! read more

First for you gluten-free folks: they have a dedicated GF fryer and GF buns. We started with the Poutine (this was my first time to get to try it bc I have never found it with a GF gravy, much less fryer, before), and then I chose the Peanut Butter Bacon Double Smashed Burger bc I had to know... Both were excellent! Sweet-savory combo on burger was great! Husband went with the Dante's Double Smashed Burger - again, the red pepper jelly it came with added a nice sweet (and in this case spicy) kick - he said it was like a spicy sweet and sour sauce. We liked it so much we went back the next day for breakfast. I tried the porridge and then eggs Benedict on a GF English muffin. Also quite good! I found the ham slice to be thicker than I would have chosen, but that's just a preference. Husband had the huevos rancheros which he said wasn't really huevos rancheros (we come from Texas) but was very good. read more

Wow, delicious with a slight twist of unique flavors that enhance the taste of regular fare foods. We hadn't been here in years but are walking distance and decided to retry it. Wow, are we so ever glad that we did. My husband had the Nic burger. The brioche bun is slightly crispy, chewy and complements a perfectly seasoned burger. I tried the country fried steak and eggs. The hashbrowns were seasoned with herbs and the country fried steak had a unique batter with a tempura-esque crunch. It was uniquely good and I would definitely get it again. The place has lots of energetic places to sit, and some areas offer live music. It was festive and decorated for Valentine's Day, offering great flair and fun. Service is prompt and helpful. Employee owned, you can tell that they care and want you to have a memorable and tasty experience. If you've never or haven't been here for awhile, give it a go! read more

My friend and I were visiting Minneapolis for a couple days to see a Vikings game and we decided to make a res here since it was so highly reviewed; and my buddy wanted to try their infamous Bloody Mary buffet bar. We went there for breakfast and were seated pretty quickly. The waiter was really nice but we could tell he was a tad new, which is fine obviously. I ordered the sausage bread and the Bison Eggs Benedict. The food came out pretty quickly. The sausage bread was unique and definitely filling since it was pretty dense. The Bison eggs benedict was pretty dang tasty. The bloody mary bar was definitely a site to behold. My friend loaded his up with chicken wings, beef sticks, and bacon. Previously they had crab legs, but they were absent this time around. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. I would definitely go back to try something off of their dinner menu. read more

I enjoyed my brunch experience here. I had the following items: -Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: I thought these were fine - they had some good lemon flavor, but the consistency and flavor of the batter felt a little flat to me. -Northern Poutine: these were good - I actually ordered these with eggs and that made them a bit more "breakfasty". There was some good flavor from the beef gravy and it added to the richness from the cheese curds. Overall, the food was good. They have a pretty large menu and I'd probably try some of the other items and explore other options if I visit again. read more

This place is fun, an employee owned restaurant that truly loves and leans into their theme. The dishes touch a variety of cuisines and some great spins on classics. Their shrimp and grits is really tasty. One of my favorite aspects is their kitchen serves breakfast any time. So diner but upscale. Had a great time at brunch at Hell's Kitchen a couple of weekends ago. Met up with friends around 11:45 am with reservations and we all ordered a bunch of different items from the menu. I ordered the Huevos Racheros "of the Gods" and it was seriously phenomenal! The flavor profile, crunch, ingredients, everything about it was sensational! I'm absolutely coming back for this dish! Friends ordered lemon ricotta hotcakes, lemon ricotta waffle, steak & eggs, and a breakfast burrito. All of the food looked so good and there were no complaints other than that the lemon ricotta hotcakes didn't really taste like much (just regular pancakes). Interesting enough the friend that ordered the lemon ricotta waffle loved theirs, so just something to note (get the waffle!). Great drink selection. I had a screwmosa which was a champagne mimosa with strawberry purée and strawberry infused vodka), it definitely got me feeling good! All in all a great time, great food, with great friends. Overall (B) This is basically an average place to eat. Not quite sure where the excellent reviews are coming from. If you are close by - swing by and get a bite - but no need to go out of your way. I think they are generating customers from the brand of Hells Kitchen or maybe the lack of brunch options. Food (B-) Got the Bison Benedict with hash browns. To be be clear you get one - not the traditional two in an order. It was okay - not bad, not great or memorable. I could make better at home. The bison was good - but again nothing special. Same with the hash browns - weren't bad but nothing good either. Service (B+) They were friendly and brought the food out fairly fast. But was hoping for a bit more enthusiasm. Felt like everyone was just going through the motions, surprising for being "employee"" owned. Maybe I was expecting more. Also they add a tip to the bill on their own and then list tip again on the credit card receipt. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I don't mind when explicitly stated on the menu and if there is a larger party but I was dining by myself. So shady. Value (B-) $22 for one egg Benedict and some hash browns - not worth it. So try it out if you like - but do not go out of your way. It's not bad but it's not good - just blah and a bit pricey. Note - update - the owner is correct that the 15% automatic tip is at the top of the menu. I didn't read it. read more

We went here for brunch on our last day in town. The Bloody Mary bar was huge and almost like a challenge: see how much you can balance on top of the Bloody Mary. It was basically a meal in itself after all the add ons. Aside from that, we had basic eggs and bacon but the potatoes were very good! They had bacon and onions added and were cooked just the right amount. The homemade peanut butter was the best though! I should have bought a jar to take home! The workers were also very accommodating. Since we were on our way out of town we had bags and they put them to the side for us so we wouldn't have to deal with them. read more

This was my first time to "the Kitchen". It was a fun experience as I was there on a team luncheon outing. We ordered the deviled eggs, which were a good appetizer. For my meal, I had the Dante's burger. I'm not one for any spicy food but I found the Red Pepper jam hard not to eat with its sweet heat! YUM For a side I did the cole slaw, which was really good. I had a little bit of a kick, but it was welcomed as it was balanced by the creaminess of the salad. The only downside of the meal was the female presenting server. She looked stressed it kind of bled into her service. When asked about the cole slaw, her response was "I don't know, I hate cole slaw." Obviously, it didn't deter me from ordering it but maybe some coaching on how she can sell it without such strong language used to deter others from trying it. Most of the others ordered bowls, fish or chicken. The person who had the fish and chips said it was really good but the other person who ordered chicken strips said it was a lot of breading and not much chicken. read more

Whoa amazing service. Even at the bar I felt attended to! thanks to Kyle at the bar. I ordered the sausage bread which was delicious: dense, savory, sweet. Tasted basically like a dark French toast. I couldnt tell any taste of sausage. If you do order this, get the jam and house made PB. Worth it. MUST ORDER! Speaking of.... The PB: holy crap. I'm not a peanut butter person but this made me change my mind. Crunchy, sweet, savory and a hint of salt. The texture feel is out of this world. Juicy Lucy: must get! Was in town for some baseball game with a few friends and this place was recommended to us. Wow-we were not disappointed! First of all the layout and design of the restaurant is super cool and inviting. The waitstaff was super friendly and welcoming when we arrived and during our lunch. We shared the nachos which were superb and enjoyed by all of us and I had a fantastic salad which was packed with protein and fresh veggies which was really nice. My friends also loved their meals--mac and cheese, eggs benedict and a chicken sandwich. The entire meal was super enjoyable and for a very reasonable price right in the heart of downtown. We were there during brunch time on a weekend and the menu was extremely varied with tons of breakfast and lunch types of options for everyone. Can't wait to return one day when they have live music and I also really want to try their Blood Mary Bar which I hear is amazing. read more

Delicious, perfectly cooked fish. We came specifically for the walleye as you can't find them in florida, and this was one of a few places I could find. Everything came out hot and crispy, the tartar sauce was amazing, the service was pretty good, as expected. The building and decor itself were pretty cool! Yes!! This is a must visit for sure. The first thing that will catch your eye is the wild decoration. It'll make you stop several times to take a few selfies before reaching the hostess desk. The unique cocktails are awesome, and I highly recommended you try one of their specialty Bloody Mary's... dang, they're amazing!! The food is delicious and the portions are large, so take a good approach to ordering. The service is friendly, but the place gets full quickly so be patient and understanding if the staff doesn't have a lot of time to spend with you. There's a lot of room with multiple seating areas and bars, but be sure to make reservations, otherwise you may be waiting more than 45-60 minutes for a table. I definitely recommend, in a big way, going to Hells Kitchen and enjoying a great breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a cocktail or two... just don't miss out on it! read more

I was very disappointed in the food and service after coming here. I got the mac and cheese with chicken tinga. It was not good at all. It wasn't cheesy or flavorful and the portion was small. I could make better homemade mac and cheese. The service was also really bad. We barely saw our waiter to get refills on drinks. I got the churro ice cream sandwich for dessert which was good but messy. My mom got the brownie with a scoop of ice cream which was better. It was also very loud inside and I could not hear my mom a few feet away from me. I was only visiting for a couple days but would not recommend coming here. read more

This place looks like it would be really fun in the evening. But we were there for breakfast. We were seated quickly. The server brought water and menu's just as fast. I had the breakfast burrito and my husband had the walleye scramble . everything hot and super delicious. The service was super friendly. I noticed on another website. They talked about the peanut butter. We were talking about the peanut butter and a guest at another table heard us mentioned it and recommended that we try the peanut butter and jelly . The peanut butter is really really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the jelly because it has ginger in it and I'm not a fan of ginger. I would love to go back to this place in the evening to see the show they can put on. This is definitely a must try. read more

Established in 2002.

Started by two renegade chefs (and their business-minded wives) with the desire to bring fresh, local, and creative breakfast and lunch to downtown Minneapolis, Hell's Kitchen eventually expanded into our current underground lair where we now offer our great food, drinks, and entertainment in a cheeky environment morning, noon, and night. P.S. Don't worry about the name... it's just how we feel toiling in the hot kitchen while you enjoy your meal. And NO, we have nothing to do with Gordon Ramsay's reality TV show of the same name. Our restaurant was slinging hash years before Ramsay's show started!

Meet the Business Owner: Cynthia G.

By the time Cyn, a Puerto Rican spitfire, married Mitch Omer in 2001, she already had her hands full as founder and owner of Creative Kidstuff, a beloved local chain of indie toy stores. Having grown her own business beyond what she had ever thought possible, it was a snap to offer to help her husband Mitch kickstart his dream. "A small restaurant? How hard can it be?" So she put together a business plan; found a bank to finance the place; designed the menu, signage, website, ads, press releases, and other marketing materials; set up the backend accounting, payroll, front end POS system, legal documents, tax accounts, insurance, city permits, Health Dept compliance, workers comp accounts; and on and on and on. Can you guess by now what happened? Yes, running the business end of Hell's Kitchen not only consumed ALL of her time, she eventually decided to sell the toy stores in order to remain sane while focusing on her CEO "job from Hell" even more.

My server wasn't kidding when she said the tacos were big enough to share between a few people. I ate the tacos by myself, and I was beyond stuffed. Alas, I wasn't a big fan of the spoonbread. The flavor wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the texture, which was a little too coarse for me. The dessert was gluten-free, and I could REALLY tell. It was also too spicy for me. The spoonbread was drenched in hot honey. But the sweet potatoes, tacos, and attentive & friendly service more than made up for it. The restaurant isn't cheap (especially for a solo diner), but I've seen worse prices for worse food. And I'm eager to check out their new location the next time I'm in Minneapolis.
