It's easy to order through their touchscreen menu, and they've got plenty of bowl and plate options. The food was fine, but the customer service, awful. I ordered and waited over 25 minutes. When I finally asked the girl behind the counter, she said it'd be ready in 5 minutes. Then I asked one of the guys behind the counter, and he checked, turns out my food had been ready and just sitting there the whole time. If I'm using your fancy touchscreen system, maybe try paying attention when food actually comes out instead of just vibing to the music.

    There's logo

Food is really good great portion pretty expensive though but good. Honestly it's almost the same price as Benihana's. We did see a roach on the outside patio and we didn't let the people know. They really didn't do anything about it, but the food was delicious. I'm not gonna lie.

I am pleased! Chicken plate with fried rice and veggies.

Would give ten stars if I could. Hibachi Papi is so flavorful and filling and I have most of my family and friends loving it which is why my godson requested them to cater his college graduation party. The large quantity of food did not mess with the quality. We ordered the steak and chicken trays along with fried rice and garlic noodles. One of the major stars of the show was the vegetable trays. Ordered two trays and not a veggie was left! So at least people were eating vegetables which is always good. We practically ordered all the sauces to suit everyone's taste. When I picked up the food, the owner was there to make sure everyone went smoothly and they brought everything to my car and packed it up with care. After the party ended, my godson and his friends went to some other parties and then came back to get left overs!

Ithis is my first time coming inside to buy Hibatchi Papi. Usually someone picks it up for me so i never got to witness the cooks cooking or the plates being made. The environment is chill with upbeat music. Its loud in here but thats to be expected with the grill going and utensils stirring the food around. Music is up to date with these young ones so it makes it an inviting environment for these youngsters/college crowd. The patio is very nice with the neon red lights and barstools in the waiting area so you have somewhere to sit while waiting for orde if your food is to go. They could update the soda pop machine its a little outdated. They sell Hibachi Papi merch.. everything is pretty clean but they do not have a public restroom which was bad for us being with a toddler that is recently potty trained. They also have self serve order so you can make your order and wait without talking to any employees. Which is beneficial if you know what you want and dont need assistance and your paying with card. Tonight they are closing for 2 hours due to a private event they put a paper sign on entrance door and have been turning customers away. The last customer that came in they did end up helping and making his order which was actually nice of them considering they have turned others away. Over all I would def. recommend this place to others. I enjoy the food and the price is very affordable.

I ordered the filet bowl with fried rice and veggies, and rare steak bites. hands down exactly what I needed in a hibachi bowl. The service was quick and friendly, I'll definitely be returning. I highly recommend their Diablo spicy sauce, it was bomb.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to give a shoutout to Bryan at the front counter. From the moment I walked in, he greeted me with a genuine smile and made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. It's rare to come across someone who's not just doing their job but actually enjoying it--and it shows. He answered my questions, made solid recommendations, and just brought a good energy to the place. The food was great (seriously, the hibachi never misses), but Bryan's customer service made it memorable. He's the kind of person that makes you want to come back--not just for the food, but for the way you're treated. If you stop by, hopefully you get to be checked out by Bryan. He's awesome.

Food was delicious. Good amount of protein and carbs. Love that they cook to order so although that means there will be a wait, the food is hot and yum! Place your order, find a seat in the outdoor seating area, and they will bring your food to you. Bowl portions are big enough to make to 2 separate meals. Definitely recommend!

    Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice

I'd had this place bookmarked after starting a new job in Westwood for a while and finally got around to trying it! What's good: the portion size is huge, I ordered a chicken fried rice and left with leftovers. It's pretty hard to mess up a chicken fried rice, but it was good regardless. My friend had the chicken and shrimp fried rice and also enjoyed it. What was not good: there is limited outdoor dining space, with tables covered in pollen and an army of flies swarming. There is an up-charge for actually everything, the fried rice came with no sauce so you have to pay for each sauce you get. The plates do not come with fried rice, but steamed rice, and you can pay extra for fried rice. Their veggie mix is insane (like 15 diff veggies), which I guess is cool, but it actually turned me off from ordering a bowl because I was unsure about the mixture. Overall, not sure if I would come back. Ordering took a while, but the food came out quickly!

So this little ass bowl is supposed to be a chicken plate lol I'll never come back here

Unfortunately, no part of the meal felt worthy of a special occasion, other than the 5 mins of magic & the presentation but that's it. Food was 3/10 Sadly, as foodies the meal did not justify the experience . Nearly every dish was overly salty, the medium steaks was overcooked, and the lobster was so chewy that three of the four lobster tails were left untouched. Horrifically the tried to serve us the wrong steak thinking we didn't know what filet looks like? Service 2/10 The service was disappointing. Our server seemed overwhelmed and even commented that we were asking too many questions, making us feel like an inconvenience. Was hard to find to her refills & I had to flag her down to bring and also pay our check. Dishonesty What concerned us most was being served the wrong cut of meat after paying extra for the filet and lobster upgrade. The chef was cooking us served skirt steak instead of filet. When I questioned it, the chef didn't apologize Instead, he told us he had "done us a favor" by giving us a bigger cut of meat" with attitude! substituting a different, less expensive cut without discussing it with us--after we had ordered an upgrade--was unacceptable. Even more disappointing, no manager ever came to our table to address the situation. My son also specifically requested plain fried rice with no vegetables, yet the chef cooked jf with vegetables. When he brought it to their attention, we were essentially told it had already been made and too bad he had to way which he didn't Overall 2/10 For a restaurant at this price point, we expected exceptional food, service, and attention to detail. Instead, we left disappointed, with our kids still hungry, and wishing we had celebrated at Yamato instead.

Once the whole party was seated & our order was taken, we received our delicious ginger salad and miso soup quickly. When our chef arrived he was ready to put on a show! He was so fun, engaging and very genuine. All of the food was amazing. I got the filet mignon steak w/ fried rice and my husband gets the sumo steak. The filet mignon is definitely worth it but if you prefer more meat, the sumo steak is the way to go. 3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.

He always greeted us and made a point of checking in on the tables throughout the restaurant. He genuinely seemed to care about the customers and their experience. We noticed he was no longer there during our last few visits and found out he had moved to another location. We were bummed, but we continued coming because Shogun had been a family favorite for years. Unfortunately, our last two visits have completely changed how we feel about this restaurant. We came the first week of June to celebrate my son's graduation. We brought our two kids, along with our nieces and nephews, several of whom had never been before. We had talked up the experience so much, and the kids were incredibly excited. Instead, the music at our table did not work, and our chef did absolutely nothing besides stand there and cook. No interaction, no entertainment, nothing that makes a teppanyaki dinner feel special. I mentioned to management how disappointing it was, especially since we were there celebrating with five kids. I was told it was because the music was not working. What was frustrating was that they apparently already knew the music at that table was not working and still seated us there. We decided to give Shogun another chance this week for my son's 10th birthday. This time, we specifically asked to be seated where the music worked because we wanted to celebrate him and avoid what happened during our last visit. We were seated, served our soups, salads, and drinks, and then discovered the music at that table did not work either. We had to move to another table with all of our food and drinks. Then the chef arrived and, what do you know, the music stopped working again. We listened to the same 20-second portion of a techno song on repeat for the entire dinner. But the music was not the real problem. We realized it was the same chef we had during our graduation dinner, and unfortunately, I now believe this is simply how he does it. Music or no music, there was almost no effort to make the experience fun or engaging. He did not even do the simple things the kids look forward to, like the heart-shaped rice or the onion train. Meanwhile, the chef at the table next to us was still entertaining and engaging with his guests even without music. The difference was impossible not to notice. We had made it very clear that we were celebrating our son's 10th birthday. We waited after dinner for someone to sing to him, but nothing happened. We had already paid and were just sitting there waiting. My son was getting so tired he was starting to fall asleep at the table. Eventually, I had to get up and find someone to ask if they were going to sing to him. The service was also disappointing. Our server barely came by, and our drinks sat empty for a long time. We did not get refills until after the chef had already finished and left. We did not complain that night because it was our son's birthday, and we did not want to spend his celebration arguing or becoming even more frustrated. But after reading other recent reviews, it seems we are not the only longtime customers who feel Shogun is not what it once was. Ironically, before our graduation dinner in June, a friend told us he had recently gone and had an awful experience with his chef. He encouraged us not to go. We assumed he had just had bad luck, and because our son wanted to celebrate his graduation at Shogun, we went anyway. Unfortunately, we should have listened. The next time our kids ask for teppanyaki, we plan to give Benihana a try. I truly hope we have a better experience there. I would not recommend coming to this Shogun for a birthday, graduation, or special celebration right now. After two disappointing celebrations in a row, we left feeling frustrated instead of happy. I do want to mention that Shogun has one server who is absolutely amazing. If you are a regular, you probably know exactly who she is and how wonderful she is. Unfortunately, we did not have her during either of our last two visits. At this point, she would be the only reason we would consider returning, and only if we could be guaranteed a table in her section. After 10 years of being loyal customers, it is genuinely sad to feel this way about a place our family once loved.
