The service is pretty good and fast for how busy it can be especially on game days because there one of the few who stays open late. Decided to try this place because i was craving hibachi. After scrolling through Yelp, i landed on Hibachi Papi. They have a nice offering of different types of hibachi and portion sizes. I settled on the Shrimp bowl with teriyaki sauce. You can pick from 5-6 different sauces I think. It's located in Westwood area and was quite busy with people coming in and out for takeout orders. The only annoying thing was having to wait a while before being acknowledged after walking in. There were probably 5 people working but everyone was busy packing up orders and no one was prioritizing the line of people coming in to pick up their order. If you have allergies, this also isn't the spot for you since they cook everything on the same spot. They make it fresh so it took around 10-15 min after ordering. This is another spot I haven't been to in person BUT we order delivery all the time, the flavor is top notch! I always get steak and chicken with shrimp fried rice. Finally tried this place and I wish I tried it sooner! It is absolutely delicious. Exactly like Benihana, but better because you don't have to sit through that awkward hibachi show! Starting off with the food, I got the salmon/steak/shrimp trio, with half fried rice and half garlic noodles, 2 garlic butter sauces And a few lemon slices. I asked for my steak medium rare and it came out well done but the flavor was still good. The garlic butter sauce definitely made the dish, I could eat that stuff by itself! My dish alone was about $50, but I did get the trio and subbed fried rice and garlic noodles instead of regular rice. Well worth the price to me. The total for two was about $100, so slightly on the pricier side. The lady who helped us out was really nice, I don't remember her name unfortunately. A few tips - parking may be tricky to find. I come for the red carpet premieres at the theatre so I get free parking at the outdoor lot right next to the restaurant, but I do know it's usually $20-30 to park there. I am unfamiliar with the area but I don't ever remember seeing cheap or free parking nearby. When it comes to the price, it may seem a little expensive but it is worth every penny! The food is so good and the portion sizes are HUGE! I was able to make three full meals out of my plate alone. They have a cute little outdoor patio section to sit and eat which is nice. Visited on 05/04/22 for the first time. This place used to be Pieology Pizzeria when I used to be an undergrad back in the days. The space is very huge indoors + outdoor. I ordered the following to-go: 1) 2 Chicken Bowls ($9.75 per bowl) = $19.50 OVERALL TOTAL: $21.94 The chicken bowl has a ton of white rice and less chicken in my opinion. You may also substitute the white rice with something else such as fried rice, garlic noodles, etc. (extra charge). The bowl also comes with 1 free sauce on the side - if you're not sure what sauce you want then you can just look up where you pay your order to see a list of sauces; they offer: spicy teriyaki, chili garlic, yum yum, diablo, and teriyaki. I got the teriyaki. The chicken was definitely on the dry side in my opinion and the sauce really helps add the flavor to the entire bowl. 1 sauce is not enough for the bowl. I would suggest to add sauce to the bowl already AND offer 1 sauce on the side, OR have some sauces near the soda area so that customers can grab how many sauces they would like in their order (Waba Grill-style). I ordered a chicken plate ($12.50) w/ fried rice (+$2.50), which came with sauteed vegetables and 2 sauces on the side. The total was around $16.40 w/ tax. For sauces, I chose Yum Yum (Japanese sweet aioli and delicious) and Spicy Teriyaki (not spicy at all and slightly too much ginger for me). The portion was HUGE and was mainly fried rice. The protein to carb to veggie ratio was not ideal, but regardless there was enough food for 2-3 meals. The food was tasty and the fried rice was well cooked. I was craving something similar to teppan food and came across this place in westwood village. I ordered a chicken plate with fried rice. My order took about 15 minutes to make. I was given a teriyaki sauce and garlic butter sauce. Both tasted terrible. The teriyaki sauce was more of a repackaged A1 than anythjng resembling teriyaki. The garlic butter sauce was sour. The chicken plate was mediocre. There were barely any chicken compared to the amount of fried rice they stuffed in the box. The chef overused butter and I could taste it in almost everything except the broccoli in the veggies. The chicken itself was heavily seasoned but very dry. The fried rice was way too salty too. The veggies were very oily. Honestly, this was quite disappointing. The food was not good and was expensive. This is not a place I would recommend people eating. read more

I don't know how they'll survive a college town like UCLA. I will say though, my food was tasty and very fulfilling. I got the combo plate with chicken, shrimp, fried rice, and garlic noodles. That plate came with 2 sauces, and I picked teriyaki and garlic butter. Both sauces were pretty good. I couldn't pick a winner. But yea that price though! I ordered a steak plate and was given the smallest portion I've ever gotten. They definitely made the meat portions smaller so I asked the young dark skinned man with dreads, wearing crocs if I could get the right portion and he started being very rude. So I was initially hesitant on trying because I noticed it's not a sit down type hibachi and also the reviews were mixed, but I actually really liked the food! I was expecting to be disappointed and my expectations were proven wrong. I got chicken, lobster and scallops with 1/2 white rice and garlic noodle and the food was so so so good. I also got the Diablo sauce and it definitely had a spicy kick to it. The chicken was a little over cooked but nothing to be upset about, the scallops were a bit on the small side but maybe I'm just used to jumbo scallops, and the lobster was really delicious. The veggies that come with are also awesome and come with such a nice variety. Similar to other reviewers, I think the protein to carb ratio is a little skewed where the plates are more carb heavy but it's fine by me actually I must've come on a good day because i felt like the service was actually amazing. The gentleman that was ringing people up, packing up the to go boxes, and taking orders was soooooo nice. He was awesome, 10 out of 5 stars on his friendliness. Waited only like 5-10 minutes for my food and totally loved every bite. Ahhh but yeah the price point is very high... $60 for my meal, ooof! You can get away with steak and chicken for $30 and that's more reasonable to me, but overall the price point for items range from $30-$60.
