From an easy ordering experience to high quality, delicious food, Highland Noodles did not disappoint! I came here for dinner on a weekday and we were seated immediately. It was not too busy but still had a good amount of diners around 6pm. We chose to share an appetizer and main dish because we were not too hungry. It was just the right amount for us. The cucumber salad was refreshing and crunchy. It had a bit more garlic than I would ordinarily expect in a cucumber salad but was delicious nonetheless. The spicy beef flat noodles were definitely the star of the show here. They were flavorful and included a great amount of beef and veggies. All the dishes were well made! For lack of better words since I forgot the name, I especially liked the pancakes with the green onion and beef! The meat had a slight sweetness to it, which I enjoyed. The spicy beef noodles were my favorite, and my table ordered the non spicy option which was the perfect spiciness level for someone with low spice tolerance. I liked the texture of the flat Lanzhou noodles and the broth wasn't too salty, and the flavor was on the milder side. I also liked that you could order everything online using a QR code at the table and the interior design was nice and spacious with the glass walls separating the booths. Most of the food here is really tasty! You can't really go wrong with any of their noodle dishes, as that's what they're known for. Of the three times I've been here, I'd say my favorite noodle dishes are the spicy beef noodle soup & the spicy chicken flat noodles. They are by far the most flavorful noodles dishes I've had here. The Lanzhou noodles are also a good classic. Aside from noodle dishes, I'd recommend trying their Beef Pancake Roll & cucumber salad. Both are super good! Would skip on the Pork wonton w/chili sauce unless you love a sweet/sour peanut butter flavor profile; definitely not much spice either. For dessert, definitely get their fried buns with condensed milk! If the service was better, I'd easily knock this place up to 5 stars. However, I found our server to be pretty dismissive and rude. He was dropping off our cabbage dish and spilled the juice of it onto the chair next to my friend (which had her keys). He saw it happen but did not apologize nor helped to clean, but rather walked away. When we ask for containers to go, he walks away without saying a word and comes back with the containers. I came here with some friends for a late weekend lunch and we only had to wait a few minutes before the staff seated us. My friends had brought their baby daughter, and the staff were able to accommodate her portable high chair that attaches to the table as well as the large stroller, which we tucked away in a corner out of the way. I ordered the red braised pork spare rib soup. The meat was cooked nicely and the noodles were nicely chewy, but the reason for the low rating is because there was barely any soup and my entire bowl was only lukewarm. I don't know about you, but when I get noodle soup, I want it to be piping hot! I ended up dumping my friend's broth, which arrived in a separate bowl, into my soup bowl to try and warm up the contents. Service was a bit rushed and they seemed understaffed, so I didn't think it worth asking them to remake or heat up, since it was already late in the afternoon and it looked like they were closing soon. I think I'd be willing to give Highland Noodles another shot if I were back in the area, but this one visit was a bit disappointing with the temperature of my noodle soup, even though I did enjoy the chew of the hand-pulled noodles and the taste of the red roasted pork. read more

We liked everything we ordered - the noodles were fresh, the dumplings were juicy and well balanced with sauce, and I personally really enjoyed the pickled cucumber salad. Came to Highland Noodles with a friend for the first time in March and really enjoyed the menu. Got in at 7pm on a weeknight and was seated immediately. There's a good amount of seating inside, and staff are quick and attentive. There's plenty of parking in the strip mall the restaurant is located in - I ended up getting there early and walking around the Lion Market. The pork spare rib noodles were tasty, and we also enjoyed the beef pancake rolls and soup dumplings. My friend got spicy soup noodles, and she did say they were just on the edge (of too spicy). They offer a great variety of quality dishes, and we tried several during our visit. We started with two of their signature hand-pulled noodle dishes--one in soup and one with sauce. You can tell their noodles were hand-pulled from their chewy, soft texture. The meat was tender in both, but the dry noodle version lacked flavor. Seemed like it was meant to focus on the noodles but felt incomplete. On the other hand, the broth-based noodles were much better. The numb spicy noodles were flavorful and packed with the classic Sichuan kick. Noodles were made perfectly, but the spice builds so be careful! The pork xiao long bao was soft, pillowy, and had everything you'd want from a good soup dumpling. The sweet and sour pork wasn't my favorite since it leaned more sour than sweet. I've been to Highland Noodles a few times, and I love it! I don't come here all too often, but I will make a stop whenever I'm in the area and craving Chinese noodles. The restaurant is relatively new so they have a more contemporary setting. It's very bright, modern, and clean when you walk in. There's plenty of tables and booths. Each table has a QR code so after the server directs you to the table, you can just order on your phone. They also give you complimentary tea. I'm the type to order the same dish every time if I like that dish. I have since always ordered the fried red chili flakes noodles with ground pork. Simply delicious! The dish is so flavorful and you can already get that from the aroma when it gets to your table. You get the option to choose the type of noodles you want. I've tried the wide flat noodles and thin noodles, but the wide flat noodle is better in my opinion. They also give you a side soup broth which is warm and nice to drink. If you're ever with a group, I would recommend the golden buns to end your meal. They're crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and goes well with the condensed milk. Very yummy! There is one vegetable dish on the menu, and it was delicious and garlicky and the portion size was generous! Big enough for 4-5 people to share. I love Highland Noodles so much! Anytime I have spicy stir fried noodle cravings this is my go-to. They're very generous with the portions here and it's super affordable unlike some other Chinese restaurants I've been to. I typically get their spicy braised beef noodle soup, spicy stir fried beef noodle, and their beef rolls. Each of these dish portions feeds two people, probably even 3, but my hubby and I are big eaters so it's perfect size for us. Warning: for those who can't tolerate spice, don't get the spicy braised beef noodle soup. I love spicy food but this soup definitely has heat! It has such a deep rich broth though that it's too addicting to stop eating even when your mouth is burning. You use your phone to scan the QR code and order from there. I have never been to a place that makes fresh hand pulled noodles and this place lived up to the hype. They were out of the lychee green tea so this was the next choice. Pork and mushroom bao was so good. The bao was fresh and fluffy. Chinese hamburger, not spicy. Very flavorful but very greasy. Get extra napkins. Beef pancake roll, spicy. GET THIS! Do not skip on this. Came in 6 pieces. We ate all 6 pieces. The spice comes from fresh jalapeño I believe. There is a little too much cilantro but the dish is amazing. It's very similar to the Chinese hamburger without the grease. Sweet and sour crispy pork. Another dish you must get. Just a tip, ours came out piping hot. And when I mean piping hot, PIPING HOT. Burned my mans lip a bit. Be careful since the sauce has sugar/honey in it for the "sweet" with the hot temperature. Spicy beef flat noodles. Another great dish. It was a bit spicy for me. The spice builds up but I couldn't stop going back for more because the flavor was addicting. I'm not sure but I tasted something that was very chewy. I didn't like the texture. I think it may have been tripe. Had I known I would have asked to omit that. Came to highland noodles after seeing all the hype on social media and it definitely did not disappoint. We came here on a rainy Saturday evening and were met with a short wait but once we were seated we got to ordering. We ordered a lychee iced tea which was so refreshing and perfect with our spicy and hot items. We ordered the tofu MaLa pot and the Lanzhou beef noodle soup. The tofu pot was definitely the star since the tofu was cooked so well and they also had soy skins and other veggies in the pot. So good. The beef noodle soup was a little salty for my taste but it was very flavorful. We got this with a tea egg which would definitely recommend if you've never had one since it was not just cool looking but it also tasted like tea! TLDR: Brown Sugar Sticky Rice. Sweet and Sour Crispy Pork. We came to the center at first to eat some Cantonese food. But even though the center was quite hopping, the place was not. Sooooo as we do in Silicon Valley... we pivot! Haven't been to this place before. It used to be a Sichuan place I believe. Still quite a bit of spicy dishes, but there were still enough non for us to enjoy. My wife saw the sweet and sour crispy pork and immediately wanted it. I was a bit more wary. I don't normally like ss pork with the pineapples... and the more sweet than sour sauce. This isn't it. It is a stack of maybe ten pork slices drowning in ss sauce. The sauce is a little more layered than the American Chinese places. And I think each slice is fried pretty well. I still don't like it as much as say Peking spareribs. We also ordered the cabbage w dry chili. Not too hot especially if you immediately brush it the diced chilis. The flavor itself was pretty good... salty and not oily. And the cabbage was mushy with sauce.. just the way I like it! We also ordered the pork belly knife cut noodles. I love knife cut noodles on general... to me it best represents home made noodles. Normally I like them al dente. But this time I agree with my wife in that the noodles were a bit too undercooked. A little stiffer than even I would like... DEFINITELY way too undercooked for my wife. The pork belly was very tender though. Green onion pancake... a staple of my usual wasn't very good. It's flaky but no onion taste. Normally we don't order Chinese desserts. But the wife HAD to try the brien sugar sticky rice. It was quite good! And unusual. It's slightly crispy pan fried, and chewy in the middle. One of the many Chinese noodle places in Milpitas! They have a wide selection of noodles on their menu. We ordered the Dan Dan Noodles and Braised Beef Noodles. I love the braised beef noodles because of its flavorful taste in the soup base and the tender texture of the beef. I'm not a big fan of their Dan Dan noodles because I think Dan Dan noodles are better as dried noodles rather than noodle soup. Also, there is not so much pork in Dan Dan noodles, whereas the braised noodle soup has a generous portion of beef. As for drinks, we ordered lychee green tea. Not going to lie, an Instagram reel of Highland Noodles was what brought me to the restaurant. Unlike the experience of the influencer, I was underwhelmed with mine. My friends and I arrived at Highland Noodles around 5:30pm on a Friday. The place was half full, so we were able to get seated right away. Glad that we came when we did because we saw several parties waiting around the foyer and outside the entrance doors by the time we left dinner around 7pm. Ordering food was made quick and easy. Scan the QR code on the table and order online. Multiple mobile devices can be used to add to your table's order. All the orders get tallied on to one receipt at the end. The restaurant had a modern looking interior for the kind of street food they offered. Hospitality wasn't the best, but I get that it's the kind of place that does the bare minimum. All our server did was bring out the food and close out our check. I tried a few items including the lamb skewers, spicy beef flat noodle soup, beef and cilantro, and beef pancake. Can't say that I enjoyed everything I ate. I was not a fan of the seasoning on the lamb skewers. The seasoning had a spicy mint flavor, which I found interesting, but I was not a fan of its pasty texture. The lamb meat was chewy like beef tongue. Best item I ate was the beef pancake. I ordered the non-spicy version, so it had a pleasant sweetness to it. The green onions were refreshing, and the outer wrap was crispy and flaky. The spicy beef flat noodle soup wasn't overwhelmingly spicy but I thought the seasoning was overbearing. This dish itself was such a sodium overload. I found that it didn't have that much beef, and the size of the meat was small. Did they bring their own or did they ask for it? Would've been nice if I had a pair to cut through my noodles. I always get the thickest bc what can I say? I love them thicccc. My favorite noodles here have to be their spicy mala beef stir fry noodles and ofc I have to get them thicccc. It's about $20 and it can feed me for two meals. It's packed with flavor and has a good kick of mala to it hence the name. I would say it's on the oilier side but very good! All of there noodle dishes are good, at least all the ones I've tried are good. They also do a really good sweet and sour. I like their fish and their pork. It feels more elevated than other places. This place is SOOO good! Each dish had really powerful flavors and good spice. I'd recommend everything from my photos - except the spicy pork and pickled mustard bao lol. It was just interesting... and not my flavor profile. 5 dishes was enough for 4 people. Order on QR code. Not much service interaction. Gave us tea and water. I like how you can choose to have your dish spicy or not. You can also choose from hella different types of noodles. Good noodle soup but the ordering system is kind of wonky and we all tried ordering on our individual phones and ordered 2 extra bowls of noodles. So really make sure just one person orders. I sort of tried to get them to take the extras off but relented and I think because I tried to be cool about it, they gave me a discount on one of them, which I really do appreciate. But it probably makes sense for them to double check an order when a party of 3 gets 5 bowls of noodles. read more

Casual hole in the wall joint that just hits all the right spots. My in-laws brought me here (ofc) && lately I've been on this Chinese noodle soup kick & couldn't wait to start slurping away. Service was quick, efficient, & direct (no frills) as expected from an Asian joint (lol). But let's just get to the important part...the fooodddd. (1) Hand pulled Beef Noodle Soup - sooooo goood!! The broth was super light but still flavorful. Fresh noodles had the best texture and chew to it + Beef was thinly sliced and tender + the daikon added a nice crunch and crispness to the whole dish. (2) Braised Beef Noodle Soup - also tasty but much more rich and meaty in flavor. Little spicy but more in chili flavor than actually spicy + Noodles were perf. texture here as well. (3) Garlic cucumbers - fresh and tasty. They were larger pieces that were smashed and made fresh, so flavors were light (which I liked) and the cucumbers were still perfectly crunchy. (4) Beef roll - this was not to my preference, there's a good amount of beef and filling with good flavor overall. But it was just too dry (needed more sauce) and also the beef was cold, which I know is likely the style but just not my preference. I've had this warm/hot at other places and def. feel like way better that way. (5) Egg Yolk Custard Buns - this was super tasty!! Lightly sweet with the perf oozy texture to it. Came out nice and hot, while the buns were beautifully soft and pillowy. (6) Dumplings - delish! New restaurant with clean interior, note it's located in the same shopping plaza as Lion's Supermarket, parking may be impacted. Ordering was easy, once you get seated, just look up the menu via the QR code on the table and place order accordingly. Braised Chicken with Flat Noodles (would order to share) Sliced Beef Pancakes (would pass) Tomato Egg Noodles (would order again) We settled for braised chicken with flat noodles, it is a little spicy (it's a huge plate/more like platter, comes with 2 forks and a pair of scissors to cut the noodles). And the sliced beef pancakes (the onion pancake is flaky but my tastebuds craved more flavor), and the tomato egg noodles (decent sauce but eggs were a little rubbery, however noodles are delicious). amazing place with good food. my favorite noodle dish is the chili oil noodles. i also got some sweet and sour chicken but i think i prefer their sweet and sour pork because it is so crispy and has amazing flavor. their custard piggy bao is also so cute and tastes good, my family and i ordered two of them (one order comes with 3 bao) because of how much we enjoyed them. the crab ragoons are also nice, they taste a little sweet which i also liked. the service was fairly quick as it was not too busy when we went. good amount of seating inside. i would definitely come again. read more
