Probably the best fish n chips I've had in town. The butter snapper rice dinner was my second favorite thing. I love how they use jasmine rice for their meals. It's a fast casual seafood spot, easy to get in and out. Very friendly staff and prices are very reasonable for seafood. It's a simple menu and the items will make every Arizona seafood lover happy. Went Friday night with high hopes of supporting a local business, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The grilled shrimp plate came with only six small shrimp for $14, which felt like a complete rip off. The red snapper sandwich, supposed to be garlic butter, was bland and under-seasoned with barely any tartar sauce. The fried fish sandwich was average tasting nothing special. The food was served on flimsy disposable plates, which didn't match the higher prices being charged. Portion sizes were very small--we actually had to eat again somewhere else afterward. Sadly, between the small portions, lack of flavor, and high prices, I don't see myself returning. read more

Hooked Seafood Market - Missed the Mark on a Pre-Father's Day Dinner My family took me to Hooked Seafood Market on Friday the 13th for an early Father's Day dinner--hoping to beat the weekend rush. When we first arrived, things started off smoothly. We were greeted quickly and told to seat ourselves. Our waitress came over promptly, took our drink and appetizer orders, and we were optimistic for a good evening. The ceviche, though fresh, came out in a noticeably small portion compared to similar seafood spots we've visited. Still, we moved on and placed our dinner orders, expecting the same timely service. That's where things took a turn. After more than 30 minutes--and watching multiple tables around us (who arrived after we did) get served--I finally had to get up and ask about our food. Our waitress looked confused and said she'd check with the kitchen. She came back to inform us that half our order had been "lost" (not quite sure what that even means), but assured us it was being remade and would be out shortly. She apologized and told us they would be giving us a discount due to the delay, which we appreciated. Still, even after that, we saw other tables being served before us again. When the food finally arrived, the presentation was a bit of a letdown--meals were served on paper plates with plastic utensils, which was surprising given that our appetizers had come out on proper dishware. For the prices listed on their menu, we were expecting a more elevated, dine-in experience--not something that felt more like fast-casual or takeout. As for the food itself--my wife and daughter ordered two different types of fish, both with teriyaki sauce. Neither of the dishes had any trace of teriyaki flavor, and both tasted like they were simply seasoned with salt and pepper. They ended up requesting a side of teriyaki just to add something to the plate. While we understand that this is a fairly new location and every restaurant has some early kinks to work out, our first impression left much to be desired. The service started strong but stumbled hard, the kitchen misstep was frustrating, and the food didn't live up to expectations--even with the 25% discount they gave us for the delay. In the end, Hooked just didn't hook us. With so many great seafood spots in the area, we're not in a hurry to return. read more

$40 for a lobster roll with no sides. Small and limited place to sit. Service was sort of good until it was time to pay. Then they had no idea who we were. The fish was not great. Square pieces of over battered something. The lobster was chewy and expensive. Side of coleslaw almost $5.00 which is insane. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

The wife and I were looking for some sushi that wasn't going to break the bank (we all know some places are just way over priced) and we came across "Hooked" on Yelp! I am glad we did! The food was great and there were a lot of options to choose from. The service was good and the restaurant itself was very clean. There was a small wait however it wasn't anything too crazy. Very good! Yummy Good fries amd cole slaw! We had to try the deep fried Oreos with chocolate dipping sauce. Who knew Oreos could be even better dipped in chocolate! Soooo good!!!! Love seeing a fast casual seafood option in town! Went in to try their fish & chips and a blackened swordfish sandwich. Fish & Chips: the batter is thin and crispy. The fish is perfectly fried. Meat is tender and juicy. The thickness of the fish is what makes this entree taste like great quality. The seasoning in the batter is also tasty. Swordfish sandwich: Again, fish was perfectly prepared. It's easy to overcook fish, but it was done just right. Flavor of the sauce was a great pairing with the fish and the vegetables. Overall the food is high quality, fresh, and cooked well. Flavors were great and on the slightly lighter side which I appreciated. Definitely will be back! read more

After hearing about Hooked, I just had to try it. I was told beforehand that the portions were very generous so I ordered the child's fish & chips. The fish was so good and not weighted down with batter. I like fish that tastes like fish! The fries were crispy, which I liked also. The service was excellent even offering a sample of 2 beers because I'm not a beer afficianado. I'll definitely be back! read more

Grabbed some incredible food today over at Hooked Seafood. Calamari was cooked to perfection and came with a couple of tasty sauces. I also had some chips and ceviche. Tangy yummy tasty and a perfect complement to everything I ate. For a main course I got the grilled swordfish (not blackened). So good! Got pulled in after seeing the announcement in Mouth by Southwest that they had opened. I ran over for a hot lobster roll and it was yummy. Perhaps not $37.85 yummy but the Lobster was fresh and cooked perfectly. Otherwise a nice warm greeting and spotlessly clean front of the house. Look forward to trying more of their menu. read more

My daughter and I popped in for a quick dinner and we appreciated the casual atmosphere and especially the great food. We enjoyed the ceviche appetizer together, then I had the fish and chips, and she had a mahi taco with a switch on the sauce prep. The service was amazing. We were asked by each and every waitress how our food was. The seating inside is a mix of low and high tables. It was full during lunch today from right after 11 to 12 when we left. We did take some time with the menus and the food came out quickly. I had the lunch special of the day which was the red snapper sandwich with fries (usually sold separately). Both were amazing. I had and recommend the chipotle aioli as a dipping sauce for the well prepared crispy fries. Mom had the fish and chips and said it was the best she has had in some time. She also took some ceviche home. We did get the last order of ceviche for at least their lunch service. We will be back! read more

We tried Hooked Seafood Grill on the spur of the moment this evening. We checked out their Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. I had the fish n chip combo. It came with additional calamari and shrimp. My husband had a fish sandwich. All of it was very well prepared, very tasty and a good value. The restaurant itself is very clean with a nice vibe. Our service was impeccable. We are excited to come back and try some of the other items on the menu. Great addition to our restaurant selections here in the southeast valley. read more

Wow, what an awesome find. My wife and I went there on Wednesday of this week, everything was so fresh. The clam chowder was the best I've tasted in the valley. Usually there's barely any clams and too much milk. This was perfect! We also had swordfish tacos, cooked right in front of us. Wife had fish & chips. Excellent. They even had malt at the table!!! Great service! Fantastic food! My wife and I split the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and the Alaskan Cod fish and chips. The shrimp was fresh and very tasty. The cod was lightly battered and fried perfectly. The fries were hot and crisp, the slaw was very good as well their sauces which are made in house every day. Happy Hour Monday thru Wednesday with $2 off beer and wine. Looking at some of the other reviews, I have to disagree about the prices and portion sizes. I stopped in for lunch on a Monday. I ordered the clam steamer and ceviche. Both were very fresh and tasty. Given the ceviche is an appetizer I was surprised by the portion size (it was large). The clams were perfect and the bread that came with the steamer was soft and perfect for dipping. The fish in the ceviche was fresh as well. This was my first time but I have a feeling I will be a weekly patron as I'm hooked! For fresh fish in AZ of course the prices will be a little more otherwise you're not getting it as fresh. I felt like the price was spot on. It's definitely a laid back vibe just like the little fish shops in California along the beach. If you like seafood...this place is a must try. I've been to Hooked 3 times now. It's pretty good. A little on the pricey side for fast casual, but the fish is tasty and seems pretty tasty. I've had the blacken swordfish tacos and they were very good. I usually get 1 since it's $11 for one taco, but it's filling enough. The fish and chips are tasty and crispy and the fries are crispy as well. Service is always friendly and it's nice and clean in there. The calamari is also very good! I will be back again. read more

Not so fresh. We were the only patrons in the place at noon on Monday. That should have been a clue. I asked if everything was fresh and she came back with a resounding YES! Not so much. The first batch of calamari was as tender as rubber bands. And not so easy to eat with a flimsy plastic fork. The first batch had a light breading. The second was naked but eatable although not pleasing to the eye. Then came the 1 pound of steamer clams. I'm from the PNW and know my clams. This wasn't even 1/2 pound! First bite (after I could get one on my flimsy plastic fork) and fishy clams!. Clams NEVER should taste fishy ........ unless they are old! $7.00 for a tiny Michelob Ultra. $60.00 lunch and we went next door to Ike's and had a delicious FRESH sandwich. Always love to support small businesses and since seafood is my fave choosing this new spot was a no brainer. Walking into a simple clean atmosphere was nice. I wasn't sure if we order at the counter or if there's a hostess to seat you but I saw my friend right away and proceeded to sit down. She said a server will come by and she had already ordered the crab cocktail. She was trying to save me some however she couldn't...that's definitely a good thing! I started out with an unsweetened iced tea which was so smooth and fresh. I always ask the servers what their faves are and for appetizer I was told, fried calamari. This is also one my deal breaker appetizers. They were lightly breaded, fried perfectly, not chewy, and tentacles!!! This definitely deserves a 5 star. I ordered the grilled red snapper sandwich with coleslaw as my choice of side. I like my coleslaw a little bit creamier but I was so very happy they didn't mix in raw onion. The snapper was so flakey and fresh, soft baked roll, tomato, lettuce and mayo were yummmm!! Lots of condiments on table to satisfy your appetite. When I saw the malt vinegar, I knew this establishment was for real! My bestie enjoyed the lightly battered crispy fish/chips and gave it a thumbs up. The grilled options, fried fish when I wanna cheat, and reasonable prices in this inflated economy for decent seafood and not having to go to the high end seafood restaurants is another reason to return. The jumbo shrimp cocktail were definitely jumbo but no flavor. My fish sandwich literally looked like that fish was all mangled. Came here after work on a Thursday at 730 at night and this place was packed. It's not a huge restaurant but the staff were friendly and attentive and food was relatively fast considering how busy they were. I ordered the swordfish taco recommended by Tanner our server and it was bigger than I expected and fresh. We also got the combo platter that had fish sticks, jumbo shrimp and calamari. I will say probably the best fish and chips I have ever had. Light and flaky, not greasy. Just everything was very good and we will for sure be returning!!!! read more
