Back in February, I had a sudden craving for lamb and beef gyros from Hummus. I suddenly felt the urge to make an order for this menu item vía DoorDash. For some reason, I am loving the tzatziki sauce as it does add great flavor to the lamb and beef. The food is fresh and delicious. I am tempted to order it again. I tried Greek Tzatziki flavored Lay's Wavy Potato Chips six years ago. That made me thought, if the Greek Tzatziki sauce turned into a meal condiment, how would it taste? The Gyro Platter I had two months ago was delicious and I am tempted to try it again. I am also thinking about trying other items from the menu. Being on the corner of Polk and Vallejo, it is close to work. This place is deemed a convenience. A great spot to turn to for lunch or dinner. So the meat combo plate was a 5/5 but the falafel plate was a 2/5. In my opinion the falafel plate is very overpriced for a couple tiny falafels. The falafel seemed overfried and didn't offer much taste or texture. I always love babaganoush, and I didn't care for this chunky one as pictured. On the other hand, the meat plate was delicious and fair for the price. Each meat was tender and moist. Thank goodness we got these plates to split, because the falafel was not filling, but the meat plate was very filling! I'd come back for the meat and avoid the falafel. I also had a glass of red wine, and the wine tasted like the bottle had been open too long. The pinot noir was no good. Service was great! read more

I've been going to Hummus in San Mateo for 7+ years! I've always wanted them to open one in SF and they finally did. I didn't know until last week when I found them on DoorDash! They're located in Russian Hill right on Polk where parking is very very tough. I would advise to park on Broadway instead, just 2 blocks over. I came in around 8pm for a chicken gyro plate. Very generous portions and the flavor was exactly like the SM location. It's really nice to know recipes don't change when a new location is open. The decor here is a little different, more modern with current music playing. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Fast and friendly service! read more

They gave us one piece of pita for our hummus flight but two would've been nice since there was so much hummus. The falafel wrap was crisp and cold (tho I expected it to be warm). The ratio of fillings (falafel/veggies) to wrap was perfect. We also ordered their rice pudding and that was so good. The top was nice and crisp but the flavor was 10/10. I give them a 4 out of 5 because the falafel messed up my stomach lol. It tasted good but it did not sit will with my system. :( read more

Favorite was the appetizer sampler, we loved everything on it including the dolma (one of the best dolmas I've had) and the falafel had a nice crispy texture on the outside. Next was the veggie plate, good grilled veggies and salad, rice was okay. My fav veggie was the grilled squash. And finally, fiancé tried the lamb beef gyro, she said it's a little dry, nothing special. I just received a take out order of two chicken wraps and fries. I was half way done eating half my wrap and I found a hair in it. It was extremely gross and disgusting. It is even more upsetting bc there is still covid and monkey pox to worry about and I literally had someone's hair in my food. Gyros the size of my head! I'm not kidding I don't know if it was just my day ----I've only been once-- but it was easily the biggest gyro I've ever had! I would argue easily worth the price. I was super excited to try this new spot in the neighborhood, but sadly my experience was awful. The service was horrible (a rude woman that obviously hates her job), and the food was cold and flavorless. I ordered a chicken plate that came with rice, salad and pita. The chicken was dry and bland, the salad came with wilted lettuce, and the rice tasted old. I was not initially serviced pita bread, so I had to get up and ask for it. The rude employee said she would bring to my table in a minute, but it took her more like 5 minutes. When she brought the pita it was cold and looked more like scraps. I stopped eating it when I saw a bite mark in the pita bread. Obviously my pita was scraps from another customer's plate. This place should be shut down for unsanitary practices! read more
