Disgusting. Vile. Nasty. This place brings the word "nasty" to a whole another level. This is not pizza. It is dough covered in cheese whiz and some kind of red sauce. It was horrible enough that I had to put the box outside the hotel room to save myself from the stench. We ordered delivery around midnight because the Sheraton's kitchen was closed. St Louis-style pizza? Really? All these years I've been debating whether New York-style or Chicago-style is better, not knowing there was another player in the game? Anyhow, I'm not trying to say that this style overtook my heart or anything. Deep dish still has a majority of my love, followed closely by the thin crust. I guess St Louis-style would fall into that category. We went here after a Cards game and decided to place the pizza on the hood of our car and eat it in the parking lot since there was no seating area inside. Three things that stood out to me: The CRUST. Really thin, but also really crunchy. I loved it. But that's only on the edges. The middle section is extremely soggy, and I didn't enjoy that at all. I got cheese, sauce and other things underneath my fingernails while trying to pry the slices from the cardboard box. Is there a way to order just the outer crust? The CHEESE. I didn't know exactly what it was about this cheese that seemed different from other cheeses until I read these reviews just now. Provel cheese? Provolone, cheddar and Swiss? Interesting. But I liked it. The BACON. These weren't bacon bits, they were pieces of bacon about an inch to an inch and a half in size. This allows you to actually taste the bacon. The phone was ringing off the hook the entire time we were waiting for our pizza; it's nice when people can still be friendly even when they're busy. Not a bad experience for my first time with St Louis-style pizza. I did have some stomach problems that night, but I'll blame that on the White Castle I ate right after. We decided to try St Louis style pizza and have it delivered to our hotel. We had ordered a Large- half deluxe, half veggie deluxe. Delivery took a lot longer because they had made it a full deluxe. Instead of remaking it, they just made another Large for the veggie deluxe on the house. What's better than pizza slices? pizza squares [mostly]! It is disorganized but more fun to eat. One word: Provel. Now this word means "happiness" to me, but apparently is an acquired taste. Growing up in Southern Illinois/St. Louis, I've had Provel on pizzas, pasta, and salad. Ok, let me preface this by saying I am a huge Imo's fan; I love the thin crust, provel cheese and quick delivery. However, I have to say this location let me down a bit in product quality. I ordered my regular, a pizza with extra cheese and mushrooms and a 1/2 house salad with extra ranch dressing. The guy on the phone seemed distracted, he kept repeating things incorrectly then saying "Oh, my bad" when I corrected him. As a positive though my quoted delivery time of 45 minutes was more like 20. But the pizza had very little cheese on it and they lettuce in my salad was about 30% brown and wilted. When you use bacon as a pizza topping, there is a noticeable difference between using slices of bacon and bacon bits. Sometimes it can make or break a pizza, especially if that pizza might not be a five-star pizza to begin with. We ordered delivery from this Imo's Pizza when we were staying in downtown Saint Louis. This particular store had no dine-in option. After a night of drinking at the bar and feeling very ill from not eating all day, Imo's really hit a primal spot in my belly. Our cabbie actually recommended Imo's after was asked him about a good pizza delivery place. And hey, if it's good enough for a Saint Louis cab driver, it's good enough for us. My friends and I ordered the Deluxe pizza which was topped with Sausage, Mushroom, Onion, Green Pepper, and Bacon. Real Bacon. None of that fake Bacon Bits shit. I think their cheese might have had fresh mozzarella added to it, because it was creamier than most. And of course we had to order some toasted ravioli to go with our meal. A "Tub of Toasted Ravioli" in fact. 30 pieces of mediocre ravioli actually. Imo's would realistically get a 3 Star rating from me, but damn if that real bacon didn't put a soft spot in my heart. The place is just your regular chain pizza joint decor, good thing is you get to sit there instead of carrying out although I saw most people came to carry out instead. Sunday football was on big screen TV which was a plus. Now the pizza, it is SO. GROSS! I mean, not because it is different, not because it is thin crust, it is because of that CHEESE! It is just a pool of melty gooey cheese on top of very thin crust which makes everything very wet and greasy. The more I ate the more I felt like gagging, so I stopped. Back when I used to visit St. Louis a lot more, I made a point of trying this pizza after I heard so much about it. With an open mind, I took that first bite and I was.....crushed. How could something taste so bad? Texture, taste, and appearance were all FULL OF FAIL. I did end up finishing a slice or two but I could not consume more, no matter how hungry I was at the time. One of her friends took us to Angelo's Pizzeria in Florissant and it was amazing. As we were leaving Busch Stadium and heading to the airport, my wife suggests that we try to find somewhere quick to have more St. Louis-style pizza. We had heard that Imo's is a popular chain in St. Louis, so we looked for the closest one. Sure enough, this one was right outside of Busch Stadium. The prices are good. I think we paid around $8 a piece for a drink, a salad, and an individual pizza. But in this case, you get what you pay for. The pizza was sub-par compared to the other St. Louis-style pizza we had earlier in the trip. It tasted more like one of those $1 Totino's pizzas. If you're visiting St. Louis, don't let this be your one and only St. Louis-style pizza. If you get a good quality pizza, it is quite delicious. Imo's is just . . . "Meh." read more

A co-worker insisted that we try Imo's while in St. Louis, so we gave it a shot. 1 star: for me not walking out when the girl who took our order was rude and the place was a disaster zone. The pizza really wasn't bad, pretty good actually. The service was awful and the tables and drink station were filthy. The straw container was full but not a single straw wasn't wet, paper sticking to it. Pass. We found the only table that the previous occupiers cleaned up after their selves, but it had not been wiped down. We debated sitting outside but the outside tables were just as filthy. As a new St. Louisan, I have learned to love Imo's. That crispy thin crust, creamy provel cheese, and sweet red sauce are a great mix. I'm a HUGE fan of their house salad with house dressing as well, a huge helping of provel cheese on top with crushed saltine crackers with a sweet vinaigrette, it compliments the pizza well. Imo's is often our late night go-to. It is expensive compared to national competitors, but it is still a "local" place with such a distinct style, we are willing to pay the extra buck. This is the first time I had ordered from this location, at about 11:30PM on a Saturday. We are always aware that Imo's takes significantly longer than other places, so we ordered well in advance and were told it would only take a half hour...AWESOME! But, after an hour and fifteen minutes, the pizza finally came. As we opened it up, we realized we had been cheated of our favorite crispy, thin crust favorite, instead, they gave us a flaky, half an inch "thicker" crust. Although is was good, it wasn't the phenomenal, favorite crust that we had ordered or hoped for. We had friends from out of town that were highly disappointed as they were looking forward to their occasional Imo's experience. I'm not sure what happened, as I have never experienced this crust from Imo's in my life, but you can imagine the disappointment in the room when that was what we had waited so long for. My point, confirm that you're getting the traditional crust with this location so this doesn't happen to you! Nutshell: Small restaurant, convenient for anyone downtown and wanting to try some St. Louis Style pizza. I could take it or leave this particular restaurant though. I haven't had Imo's in a while and I was craving. Luckily this location is close to work. It's in the lower level of the Hilton Hotel and seems to be kind of wedged into the back corner. It does have it's own entrance on Market Street. I went in on a Friday to take advantage of their lunch special (one topping 8" pizza, side salad, and a drink for $8). I kept it simple with pepperoni pizza and salad with french dressing. The overall appearance of the restaurant was clean and it's dining area is fairly small. The food was decent. Everything came in to-go containers and all the silverware is plastic even though you're dining in. The employee just handed me an already boxed up salad and if I'm honest the lettuce seemed a little sad. If you want to prep food before hand, that's fine, but maybe keep them in the back so it gives the appearance you just made it. The pizza was good. It hit all the right spots of my Imo's craving. The staff were friendly enough. For all the tourists and out of towners, here's the deal with Imo's/St. Louis Style pizza...it's very thin crust and the provel cheese has a very distinct flavor and texture. It's a processed cheese, so if you're expecting some fine aged pizza topping, look elsewhere. Pro tip: make sure to let the pizza sit for a second otherwise the molten lava that is the provel will kill the roof of your mouth and tongue. Imo's is an experience. I enjoy it, but I'm also not going to tell anyone that's it's the BEST pizza out there. This particular location is ok. I don't hate it or love it. read more

I'm a fan of IMOs pizza and the pie today was good as each of the other two times I've traveled to St Louis and made a beeline for it. Not a native or a resident but do love some cracker thin crust za and the STL-style. Today was my first experience with this store and I gotta say it was a fantastically disappointing piece of crap. Staying at hotel and looking for delivery this place said delivery would take an 1.5-2 hrs. A time frame never heard of in my city. So I hoofed over to grab and go. Inexcusably they gave me the wrong order. I called when I got back to my room and discovered the error but they refused to deliver the missing items saying they wouldn't due to the long delivery window. Total disrespect. Pissed off. This is not a great Imos. I can't comment on the pizza here, but I came in for lunch on a Thursday with a completely empty dining room and got the Roast Beef sandwich/salad lunch special. Somehow it took 20 minutes to throw meat and cheese on bread and sprinkle some cheese on lettuce, with a hunk of tomato with the big piece of stem. Besides taking forever, the sandwich was awful. Roast Beef that was dry and tough as shoe leather. Cheese, not melted at all. It was so tough and dry I thought I was going to choke. After hearing from Local people that most people outside of St.Louis hate Imo's and St. Louis style pizza I was very skeptical. Imo's pizza is beyond thin crust, more like a flexible cracker with a sweet tomato sauce and Provel cheese instead of the traditional mozzarella... And you know what?!?.. I actually liked it..not the type of pizza that I could eat all the time but it was a nice switch up. Provel cheese is creamier and less stringy than mozzarella and this pizza completed my St.Louis experience. I ordered delivery on a Tuesday night in STL (which is not crowded in any way shape or form) and 1) my driver was unprepared and wouldn't deliver to my room in the hotel, making me meet him outside of my hotel after I specifically asked the woman on the phone if they would deliver to me and they said they would. 2) I specifically asked for extra crushed red pepper (I only eat my pizza with crushed red pepper) and of course upon delivery I find NO crushed red pepper, but multiple cheese packets.
