Tell me how I had the best burger in my life after a long day of work. This place is 10/10 and the people are super nice!

It dosnt look like much, and isnt when it comes customer service. Dont try to order anything over the phone. If they dont understand you they just hang up. You try to call back and they let it bo to voice mail. When i got there I asked for a turkey bacon cheese sub. Then i asked if they might do the bacon extra crispy because i dont like flabby bacon. The owner / cook started to yell at me " why do you have to be so difficult? " I dont think that was being difficult, just wanted my sandwich the way i wanted it, because im payed for it. This little place in El Monte is one of my favorite sandwich joints. Run by a very sweet couple, the selection of food is good and the subs are sizable and delicious. The bread is soft and fresh and the meats are tasty. Better yet they will make it how YOU what. I get the Italian with Swiss cheese instead, then add more Swiss. I eat here regularly as it's just a block away from my office. The food is always good. The owners are nice. I usually order an avocado burger and fries but their steak and cheese is really good too. First of all, I got seriously sick from here. this place is gross! It's dirty. Everything inside looks greasy. I do not understand how it has such high ratings. I tried it because of the rating. I got the Italian sun and it was so bad. The meat was slicked so thick that it only had one slice per half of sandwich. I had about half of it before I threw it out. I got so sick with stomach pains, I was in the bathroom the rest of the day. My husband got the bbq beef and cheese. He said it was the grossest sandwich he had ever had. Their food is good. Ordered pastrami burger and Italian cold cut. Their cold cut has a great amount of meat and fresh quality. It looks a bit rundown. I've been here twice and sadly their customer service is poor. I would rather not deal with the encounter. Asking simple question like "does it come with mustard?" makes me feel like I'm burdening them. Asked if I can get extra napkins and she handed me 1. Even though she only gave me 1 the first time. For what I ordered and spent it's not hard to have better customer service or give me more than one napkin LOL. read more

This is a solid sandwich shop on the north side of El Monte. I have been coming here since I was a kid, but hadn't been in a while. I always remember enjoying their sandwiches and they were one of the few convenient food locations in the area for quite some time. The area has gotten more options to choose from, but it's still a good option for a quick bite or to-go orders. They have sandwiches, both hot and cold as burgers, teriyaki bowls and cooked sides. I almost always choose something different when I go. Their cooked sandwiches are always a great option as well as their cold cut sandwiches. Everything is made to order and their fries and onion rings are hot and fresh. Service has always been solid as well. Can't really go wrong here. read more

Well! Just another place in the Great City of El Monte that is hit or miss! I have been here before a few times and Jack's Subs is okay. Just Okay! We were on are way home when we said lets give this place a try. We saw that they had a Hamburger Special for $5.99. The Burger was Bacon, Avocado Cheeseburger with fries and a Drink. The meat was dry but they did give you a lot of Avocado which helped. El Monte is just a town that doesn't try or need to have great restaurants. I don't know what it is but there are so few places that I would even call GOOD! Jack's Subs is more a Sub shop. So maybe that is why the burger was just OK. I have come here in the pass and gotten the Turkey Sub which was really good. They also had a 12 inch Pastrami Sub for $4.99. On another note they did have 60 ounce Pitchers of Bud for $6.00 bucks. Jacks is a good spot for a quick bite. You won't get 15 sauce options or 5 bread choices. The toppings are solid, the bread is fresh and they're very nice. The fries are always really good: salty crispy and hot. Onion rings are also good. Think of the sandwiches here like your mom or wife made one for you. Then made one for me. read more

Jack's is the place to go for a great sub. The ingredients are fresh, prices are decent, service is fast and the owners are really nice. I stick to the turkey, sometimes with bacon, sub. I recommend eating at the restaurant though. One time I took it to go, mind I live 5 minutes away, and when I got home the bread was already soggy. The hamburgers are just okay, nothing special. On the other hand, the teriyaki chicken plate is a must try! The teriyaki sauce may not be original but the rice, veggies and chicken are cooked just right. I also noticed the owners don't really enforce the "one refill" rule posted on the soda machine so drink up! I gave 5 stars for the food and service, but the floors need some serious cleaning and the restroom is really musty. read more

A real local hole in the wall, Mom and Pop shop that is run by a Korean or Chinese couple. I like this place and have had sandwiches from Jack's Sub on at least a dozen occasions. This joint seems to subsist on blue collar workers and locals (from what I've seen of the patrons around lunch hour). I'm sure people come back for the same reasons I do: Good food and reasonable prices. The ingredients are fresh and the offerings are tasty. One last point. I just read a review down below that the place is dirty or unclean. For what it's worth, I've never seen that. In fact, the dining area is always quite tidy. Run down and worn/aged? I come here often to support local Mom & Pop business. At times, you'll even see their kids doing homework. The food is good and fairly priced. I recommend the tuna sub and the chicken salad. Their cheese burger taste pretty good too. I usually do phone orders and my food is usually ready within ten-fifteen minutes. Very friendly people. read more

Found this place through Yelp. Decided to give it a try since it had everything I was currently craving for lunch, teriyaki chicken bowl, sandwich, fries. I couldnt make up my mind on what to eat but I seen they had a teriyaki beef sandwich. Never heard of that but sounded good so I thought I'd give it a try. I called in my order prior to picking it up and when I arrived they had it ready for me. This was a hole in the wall restaurant, family owned, but the best sandwich I ever had. I manage the Circle K across the street and my lunch break usually needs to be pretty quick. Jack's fits that. The prices on their combos are great. Everything is made to order and not cooked until you order it. I especially think that, for the price, the quality of the pastrami is really good.
