Good lord, terrible experience! Mediocre cheeseburger (the smaller version) with no extras, nothing else included: $12.78. Small, not very good onion rings: $8. No tap water available ("Sorry, we don't have cups") so another couple of bucks for a bottled water. Meanwhile, TV BLARING sports talk ("So I can hear it when I'm cooking," sole employee -- at lunchtime!! -- tells a customer who asks him to turn it down). He's totally overwhelmed, yet the entire time we're there, he's having a very loud argument with Venmo customer service on his phone, so he's doing the cash register and the cooking one-handed. I bought a cheesesteak from this place a few years ago and it wasn't very good, so I went to the Cheesesteak Shop and it was 1,000 times better. Today, I decided to give them another chance. I ordered a Jake's Cheesesteak with American cheese and fried zucchini on the side. The zucchini was cold, mushy, bitter and didn't taste fresh. The cheesesteak wet (not toasted as specified), mushy and very disappointing. I threw half of it away. The delivery person "Fernando" refused to hand me the order, so he left my dinner near the gate by the street. WTF! I guess walking up 1 flight of stairs is too difficult. The online order form was misleading order no toast but got no bread lettuce wrapped Sandwich was tasty and delicious otherwise. Mom had chicken sandwich meat and sauce was tasty and delicious but the bread was too soft and the meat fell out. All in all a great meal I would do it again but will order bread next time. Their menu offers a lot of options and customizations - perfect for us. From adding more cheese to deciding if you want grilled, fresh, dice or sliced onions. The roll was soft and plenty of meat and toppings on the cheesestake. Be sure to have some napkins because it's a messy eat (in a good way). The waffle fries were perfect. They just opened up and it's their soft opening right now. Their staff was busy still setting some stuff up but super friendly and I got the straight up cheesesteak combo with waffle fries. They use real Amoroso rolls and Cheese Whiz by default though you can choose other cheese options. I went with the whiz since it's kind of the more authentic way to go but I typically prefer other cheese options. Ordered a mushroom cheesesteak last night with the lettuce/tomato/mayo add-on since I needed some extra nutrients. My first time ordering from this place, usually getting my cheesesteaks from Phat Philly's in the same area. I gotta say, it was pretty great. The amoroso roll was fresh and well made, white American cheese (which I've never been able to find in a supermarket outside of New England), and finely chopped steak. Will definitely order this again. Also, not shown, I ordered a chicken parm sub with no additional add-ons. For new places I like to order extra items to test their performance in non-specialities. It was also pretty legit and in SF a solid chicken parm is pretty hard to find. Would order that again too! I met the owner and apparently i was the first to do a pickup order on grubhub! The trick is I ordered through Yelp (which works using grub hub) and the good news is that it works great. The owner was putting up eagle's paraphernalia when I visited which makes it really authentic. The food was great. The fries wasn't as crispy, slightly grainy and super bland. I like how there are many options for your cheesesteak, you can upgrade to a hoagie style to add lettuce and tomato's and there are many add-ons to choose from. However, at that price point I really wish they would've added more meat and mushrooms in my sandwich. read more
