I visited Java Earth Coffee with my friend on a Sunday afternoon. The street by the building was crowded, so we just parked a couple of blocks away & walked over. The cafe was crowded & had a line when we arrived. I ordered their #12 smoothie while my friend got their banana cream top matcha. I appreciated the lively atmosphere of the cafe, & loved that its location is only a short walk to the beach--my friend & I headed over to the beach with our drinks afterward. I enjoyed my smoothie, but I would most likely reconsider visiting again if there's a line.

My review is purely for 1 specific item as I don't drink coffee. However, coffee shops always have tasty breakfast items and I honestly think this is one of the best breakfast bites I've had in years. The place was super packed with a line out the door but service was relatively quick and the workers were all smiling. All the outdoor seats were taken, so they must have other awesome items to order and I would happily wait in line for the coconut square every single time. Small interior but kept clean and price is great.

The coffee was decent. I got a cappuccino that was very foamy on top, so I'll get the latte next time for more blended/integrated taste profile. Tons of seating outside. Tables inside fill up fast which is the main downside.

Sadly, this smoothie was terrible. Very watery and full of ice chips. No flavor at all

Love this place, such a cute local spot. The place is very bright with lots of windows giving plenty of natural light and they have a decent amount of seating (inside and outside). The service is amazing and the coffee is amazing. I got a Cali bowl and a regular latte. I wish there was some seasoning on the bowl, however, I added my own salt and pepper which definitely elevated the bowl. The latte was amazing and the staff was super sweet.

I ordered the 16oz iced brown sugar cinnamon latte and added maple syrup and an extra shot of espresso . 8/10 for the latte. It was really good and not too sweet however the coffee flavor could've been stronger. I also had the lox bagel which was phenomenal. It came in a big portion, great for splitting if you want a smaller breakfast. The salmon was fresh and the veggies on top even fresher. The pickled onions added a great touch! The service here is great! The staff were friendly and the order came out quick, even though it was pretty busy. This place has a great airy atmosphere which is great for a quick breakfast or a study day.

the vanilla latte was very very sweet but the cookie butter latte was surprisingly less sweet compared to it. they also had a larger size for the drinks and food too. expect a wait on the weekends but it moved fairly quickly

Dropped by with a friend while on a walk down Cass. The place was busy and we were lucky to grab a table because someone was getting up. It looks like people stay and sit so seats are hard to come by. Once inside it's calm and cute. Ladies behind the counter are sweet. Good choices on the menu. There was no line dispute it being so busy outside. Coffee was ok. Not strong and nothing out of the ordinary. I usually have the lavender coffee and it is good, just a bit sweet. I wasn't wanting anything sweet today so just had plain coffee and that's what it was, plain. Pastries liked great but didn't try any, maybe next time.

I got the brown sugar iced latte! It was great, I really enjoyed it. My friends got the matcha, which was also good, but we collectively agreed their coffee was better. I also got their banana bread because I saw some reviews raving about it. It was good, definitely more "cakey" than a traditional banana bread. Super cute shop with good seating and quick service. Overall a 7/10 and cute place to stop by for a weekend coffee :)

This is the best matcha I have ever tried! I requested to have it made with oat milk and they kindly informed me that it already is which I think was wonderful. The place is so cute and had a good amount of seating. Parking was okay but not horrible! 10/10 would recommend! :)

Update: after the initial review below, we were quickly contacted by Java Earth, and they provided us with a refund and gift card. Very professional - we'll be back soon. Wow - we've been going here for a while, as the location is convenient, but today we had some of the worst avo toast and tuna melt ever. By the time we got to our picnic spot, we noticed both were super burnt, along with the tuna tasting sour. Super disappointed in the food quality. Best coffee shop in San Diego! My go tos are the vanilla latte, SoCal burrito, and green smoothie. My daughter loves the overnight oats. Kid and dog friendly. The staff is welcoming and make is an everyday visit for the long list of regulars and out of towners. In a city with a coffee shop every other block, this is the one to visit. We were staying in an Airbnb that was walking distance from this cute breakfast spot, and we came here two days in a row! Lots of great pastries and hot food options as well. The coffee is also delicious! The service is so quick, so this place is perfect if you want to get your food and coffee to go or if you want to eat at one of their tables. Cute coffee shop a little off the main tourist section of PB. We got cold brews, an açaí bowl and the lox and avocado toast. The açaí bowl was a big portion, but it was tasty and fresh. The toast wasn't bad either. read more

Pleasant ambiance and service with tasty breakfast. We enjoyed the outside patio and the truly delicious bagels and green smoothie. This is tucked out of the way of the maddening crowd--a great respite for us because we've been the maddening crowd for the last four days. This looks like a great place to linger--people are here with their laptops, books, lounging dogs and families. We'd definitely be back if we lived here. read more

I can only rate their coffee but the dirty chai with oatmilk that I had was absolutely amazing! I loved sitting outside in the sun while enjoying it as well. We were waiting for a reservation nearby and they were fast, and staff was kind. Would love to come back and try the breakfast. read more

Cute cafe! I ordered the SoCal burrito that had eggs, hash browns, cheese, and your choice of protein with a side of salsa. Also ordered an iced chai latte. The chai was delicious except I wish they had put more ice in it because it felt like a warm chai instead of iced. The burrito was meh. Pretty basic and flavorless and even the salsa didn't have any flavor and was watered down. I had to douse my burrito baby in tapatio! The best way I can describe the flavor is white persons burrito lol They have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating so they won't be a problem. I prefer to sit outside to marvel at all the cute San Diego pups! read more

So would give Java earth a 5 stars for their maple or latte but also tried their SoCal burrito and it wasn't my favorite. The maple oat latte tastes like a cinnamon maple milkshake and comes with oat milk and would highly recommend - it's definitely sweet but that's how I like my coffee :) the burrito was okay but a little bland in my opinion, was excited about the hash browns inside but overall wouldn't order it again. read more

This is by far one of my favorite local coffee shops! I'm obsessed with the pistachio latte. I love the overall relaxed aesthetic. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have food (which is pretty decent). It can be busy with a long wait on the weekends. read more

Delicious coffee and decent food make this place a worthwhile visit. Living in the area, we like to ride our bikes to grab coffee and a light breakfast on Saturdays. Java Earth is one of the few spots we have patronized more than once on these jaunts. While always busy, the coffee they serve up is awesome and always made with care. I grabbed a honey vanilla latte with oatmilk while my wife tried out the pistachio latte. Both drinks turned out very tasty and, over ice, are the perfect accompaniment to an otherwise warm morning. For food, the SoCal burrito and PB bagel, with a molasses cookie for us to split. The burrito was saved by the decent salsa they give you on the side to add as you please, my wife loved her bagel, and we both seriously enjoyed the molasses cookie we snagged on a whim. Of course, we will be back, but I will probably switch to a bagel next time, however. read more

My friend told me about Java Earth and I'm happy she did. This is a wonderful Coffee Shop. Conveniently located on Cass street and not far from the Fig Tree cafe. It doesn't have much seating and if usually quite busy. They have the best breakfast burrito I've had it a long time. They pan fry the outside of the burrito so it is golden brown and has a slight crunch. It is to die for! read more

First timer! My fiancé and I always pass this cute spot on our morning bike ride. The avocado toast w/ feta was amazing. Not a fan of red chili flakes though....so make sure to order it without the flakes. My fiancé got a regular ice tea. He said it was a little watered down but still good. I had a lemonade. A true great neighborhood coffee shop. I have lived nearby for a while now and Java Earth is my go-to for coffee (best iced oat milk latte in town) or a quick bite to eat. The staff is friendly and the coffee is solid - from house coffee to specialty drinks. They also have a nice patio area to hang and get some work done if you are the works-from-coffee-shops type. Perfect coffee place! The coffee, smoothies & food are all great. I have tried several things and none have been a disappointment! I come here to work frequently. The Wi-Fi works great, but beware if you sit inside it can get a bit loud with machines, people, etc. They have tons of seating inside and out. read more

Stopped in for a quick coffee while the husband cooked some breakfast and the vibe was chill, the staff was very nice and sweet to my daughter! I ordered 2 iced breve latte with cinnamon and white chocolate (mock of a cinnamon bun) and a cinnamon roll for my kids! The hubs got the pizza bagel on a plain bagel and this wasn't so exciting. It had pepperoni and a good amount of it but we weren't too impressed with it. The Jersey Girl was good too. We appreciated the Taylor ham and finally glad we were able to try this. It's almost like spam but not as salty. This was on a plain bagel as well. I would get this again, as well as the bacon, egg and cheese bagel. We also ordered the lox and dill cream cheese to take home and ordered a jalapeno cheese, Asiago, plain, salt and two cinnamon raisin. All bagels need to be toasted. The cinnamon raisin was a nice treat, not too sweet but wishing it did have sugar on it. The lox and dill cream cheese was so so so so so good with all the other bagels we got. You can definitely taste and see all the lox and dill in the cream cheese. I would order all these again. It was just so so good. The place is also cute and the staff are super friendly. Some of the sandwiches are a bit steep but for good bagels, I'll pay for it. Overall, I would definitely return on another random weekday.

The Iced Cinna Bee, which I was told is one of their most popular drinks, was just as disappointing. It was bland, barely sweetened, and the cinnamon completely overpowered the coffee. It was honestly gross, and I couldn't finish it. To make matters worse, I waited over 20 minutes for my order. Parking was also a hassle since I had to park on the street. The only reasons I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 are because the staff was friendly and the café has potential. Nothing overly aesthetic, nothing that click baits you, PL Bagels is a good reminder of what food was and still currently can be in this world of hyperbole, influencers, and maximalist food.

This past Sunday, I decided to head over for a morning walk and finally stopped in again. The shop is pretty small with limited seating, so it's not really a place to hang out. It seems more like a grab-and-go coffee spot. There aren't many great coffee shop options in this part of Coronado, so I can definitely see why it's popular with both locals and tourists. I arrived just before the morning rush, so I was able to order and get my drink almost immediately. The cashier was super friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. I also really appreciated that they offer a military discount--it's always nice to see businesses supporting the military community. I ordered a medium cold brew with coconut cold foam and asked for very light ice. I was so happy they actually listened! So many coffee shops still fill the cup with ice even when you ask for light ice, and I hate watered-down coffee. This one was perfect. The coconut cold foam was absolutely delicious and added just the right amount of sweetness to complement the bold flavor of the cold brew without overpowering it. I also love that they serve organic coffee. I'll definitely have to remember to stop by more often whenever I'm in Coronado in the mornings. Next time, I need to try one of their donuts too!

Unfortunately, this experience has left such a bad impression that I won't be returning. There are plenty of other bakeries in the area, and I'll be looking forward to trying those instead.

One couple was ready to leave when their food came out at that exact moment. The servers did apologize and told us that they were having issues with the kitchen. They also offered us all free orange juice. However, if they knew they were having issues with the kitchen then they should've told us earlier before we got seated so people could go elsewhere rather than waiting an hour for their food. Overall, service here was very poor. In terms of food, it was unfortunately pretty good but not worth the wait. I really liked the simple toast with matcha cream on top as well as the curry hamburg. My friend ordered the shakshuka (not pictured because it came last and everyone just wanted to eat at that point) which was also pretty good. For the avocado toast, the toast was too hard so I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered a yuzu and matcha yuzu mimosa. Both tasted like yuzu. The matcha yuzu one was basically a green yuzu mimosa. They have a vero water purification system so their water was really good lol.

This place has gone through 3 owners in the past 10 years. It has had its ups and downs. I like the Bldg. I usually LOVE this place because of the fact they allow dogs inside, have lots of space for studying or just chillin' with friends or your computer. But, unfortunately, like everything, it has changed. The quality of food is POOR. Made with no Love. Seems like the girls get too stressed to be REAL people, when its not even busy...I am more understanding of these things when I see workers are over the top busy, AND are maintaining a happy, non fake, face. Makes me wonder,are they there for themselves, or to serve others? A smile can only go so far, especially when it seems un-genuine...goes even shorter. So, its so-so now. Fig Tree Cafe and Turquoise Cafe are also near by, and have great coffee AND really good food/pastries. Not sure about their dog policy though, so if you are set on having poochy sit inside with you, this place is still kinda cool. read more

I love this place. The adorable, hippie, sometimes Aussie staff are a great group that make the local coffeeshop experience. One of the girls remembers my roommates' name and order, and though I am wildly hurt that she still doesn't know mine I have really high hopes for next time. I was recommended an iced coffee blended with spiced chai one day here at Java Jones (I like the old name better than Java Earth), and now I order it every time. The egg white breakfast sandwich is also a favorite of mine- if you like pesto then this will be your jam. This is my favorite place to study and job hunt, and I always meet really great people who are inclined to help me professionally or academically. It is a weird consistency, but they are helpful so I am down. One tip: Don't take phone calls in here. It's echoey and really awkward, and everyone listens because it's impossible not to. I am not a huge coffee drinker...so I can't say that I am one of the regulars, but if you are, they know you...your name, what you drink, what you have been up to, your interested, etc. Its really cool and super personable....I love it!! The young lady that was servicing us today was super nice, very helpful, and cute of course!! The pastries are all bomb....I usually just get the girls to pick the best one of the day, and they haven't steered me wrong yet!! So yummy! I have lived one block from Java Earth for 3 years. I have stopped by at least a dozen times because I so badly want it to be our great neighborhood coffee and breakfast spot. Unfortunately, Java Earth has just never been good. The coffee is pretty funky. I am fairly confident their baristas don't know anything about coffee. Their food is so so but I think the worst part is how rude the staff is! If you are in North PB and in need of breakfast and coffee and friendly people I recommend either Fig Tree Cafe or Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. read more
