I came here on a Friday afternoon, and the place was not too packed. There is a lot of outdoor seating divided by the sidewalk with around 10 tables and a long table with 4 chairs. There is inside seating too with several tables. This place is super dog-friendly! I got the turkey sandwich with no avocado, no mustard, and added bacon instead. For my drink, I got the hot earl grey tea with 2% milk and agave. The sandwich is a cold sandwich on sourdough bread and tasted great. The employees are super sweet and kind. Jessica was helpful with my decision on what to get. Usually, I feel kind of rushed when I don't know what I want and just stand there, but Jessica made me feel the opposite with her hospitality. Overall, great coffee shop, and would definitely come here again. They do offer free wifi, but I found it a little bit slow and ended up using my own hotspot. read more

Stayed nearby while in town. Had coffee here one day and breakfast next. Coffee was good. Staff friendly. Wide variety of options for breakfast, wraps lots of toast, etc... Only negative there were sooooo many flys inside. Doors were open but just not great. read more

Cute coffee spot next to a beautiful gallery, I had a cup of pumpkin spice latte at a beautiful fall morning, feeling so warm and cozy. I wish they were a little quicker on the register or have a secondary cashier ready to decrease any line that may form. I absolutely love this coffee shop and find myself here 3-4 times a week. I live close by and love the coffee and smoothies. The food is meh, I usually just get an bagel or something small if I'm hungry. Generally when I come, the staff is all talking to each other, ignoring me as I'm waiting to order and it seems like an inconvenience when I place an order. When they notice I'm there (once they have finished their conversation with their coworker) they just stare at me. No hi, what can I get you, it's really odd. I prefer ordering online now, but half the time I see my drink sitting there just waiting for ice to be put in it as the staff is chatting. Really wish the service was better here but still one of my favorite coffee shops in PB. read more

While waiting for our food at Clay Oven next door, we stumbled upon this cute cafe and decided to try it out. The service was decent. I asked about the matcha, and the cashier kindly gave me a sample of their happy matcha. It was fine, but from the color I could tell it wasn't ceremonial grade. I still decided to try their strawberry matcha because I just needed a drink, and it was terrible. The staff claimed it was ceremonial grade matcha, but it clearly wasn't from the color and taste. Ceremonial has a very vibrant green as opposed to dull and dark green, and their oat milk was not great either. I couldn't tell which brand it was, but probably not one of the top brands. The store uses cheap ingredients but still charges very high prices. Won't be coming back. read more

I absolutely love their drinks and the place itself is adorable, unfortunately their service takes away from both. I have spent a lot of money at this place because I can't seem to find any other coffee shop that makes drinks like they do but almost every time I experience the same disappointing service. The last two visits, when I walked up to the register to order, the girls working were having a full on conversation and did not acknowledge me standing there, no greetings, no nothing. One worker who is blonde and has a tattoo on her arm is one of the most unwelcoming workers I have ever experienced which is surprising for a popular coffee shop in pb. I would recommend hiring a better staff because I don't plan on giving my money to a place who can't treat their regular customers nicely. So unfortunate. read more

Love coming to this cafe for a good cup of coffee or a solid açaí bowl and bagel. They have a great variety is menu options for breakfast and lunch perfect for someone like me that walks in with no idea what they want. I love Java! I think they are super reasonably priced and have great keto options. Lots of breakfast bowls, burritos, and coffee options. They are always super busy and the staff is able to keep their cool. It's a loud grab n go environment with limited indoor outdoor seating just because of how busy it is. Not too many baked goodies were on display last time i was there but banana chocolate bread that ive tried was absolutely delicious and it was a generous cut, which i appreciate. What's important for me in any coffee shop are the beverages and food. Ambiance and location are subjects for discussion, everyone likes different things. Java Earth offers a very good selection of breakfast staples, like sandwiches, burritos, bagels and toasts. On my last visit ive tried LOX bagel with cucumbers, tomatoes, capers, onion and top with microgreens. Outstanding! The staff is friendly and accommodating. I'll be back fore sure. Pretty busy on a Saturday morning, especially on a beautiful sunny day since there's a good amount of tables with umbrellas right outside. Could be about a 5-10 minute wait to get to the front. Tried the chocolate cold brew, cinnamon bun, and shared a breakfast bagel with my friend. Everything was overall good with no frills, although the breakfast bagel really needed some hot sauce which they thankfully had. The egg inside was nice and fluffy. Am I the only one who thinks this place is overrated? I live within eyesight of Java Earth and every morning there is a line out the door. I have gone about 5x since moving here and all I have gotten is rude service (every single time), the coffee is mediocre at best. TBH if the service wasn't so bad I'd still drink the mediocre coffee as it is a fun menu, decent food, and conveniently located to me. Great coffee place in PB! Came here for the first time yesterday post run club and was just planning on grabbing a coffee but then saw these guys eating a breakfast burrito outside that looked really good so decided to try one (I normally don't grab food from coffee shops, and normally don't feel too hungry in the morning but I was feeling it yesterday!). I don't have super high hopes for coffee shop food, and especially not breakfast burritos, but I was very pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed my burrito and the salsa that came with it was really good. The tortilla was the perfect balance of crispy and chewy. I asked for no bacon and got to choose avo/turkey instead and went with avo. I also wanted an iced latte and had a hard time deciding which one to get! They have quite a few different latte options and I was thinking of trying the pistachio latte as that looked more unique, but it was a bit more than I felt like paying on top of my burrito (It's over $7) so I went with the basic vanilla honey latte. Was yummy though so can't say I went wrong there! Definitely want to go back and try the pistachio latte next time though read more

Java Earth is a great mainstay for takeaway breakfast. We routinely swing by after a walk in the Pacific Beach neighborhood. They have good coffee and hearty portions that are very vegetarian friendly. The food travels well as well! Friendly service and beachside casual ambiance top it off. Pros: - the place is cute, good indoor space for people who also want to use their laptop and work with coffee - good outdoor space too - Employees were very nice Neutral: Cappuccino was ok, not bad, not out of the world, very wet i d say. I dont think i would get a cappuccino there next time i go. Cons: - croissant and chocolate/almond croissant were stale, not good at all, one might say taste is subjective, well to an extent. when something is stale it s easy to have a consensus. There is a reason bakeries only sell same day croissant (or discount them by 50% if they have leftover from the day before...) - coffee bean package has no mention of weight which is very odd, (and also against the FPLA requirement). When I buy a bag of coffee, i d like to know what is the weight of the package... (and when it has been roasted, no indication about that either) OVerall: Anyway disappointed by my experience at the Cass St location because I went to the torrey pines one a few times and liked it a lot (including their pastries). read more

Food and Drinks - worth a visit. The coffee was great, they had unique specialty flavors, and the breakfast food was delicious (their pesto is so good). 10/10 would come back here. Service - the people were so nice and don't mind that I took a little longer to order (at least I couldn't tell if they minded). Best coffee shop in San Diego! My go tos are the vanilla latte, SoCal burrito, and green smoothie. My daughter loves the overnight oats. Kid and dog friendly. The staff is welcoming and make is an everyday visit for the long list of regulars and out of towners. In a city with a coffee shop every other block, this is the one to visit. They took our order, I wanted a decaf maple oat milk latte and my partner wanted a vanilla oat milk latte. He's allergic to nuts so he let them know about his allergy. When they delivered our drinks (they gave me my drink but with caffeine even though I ordered it decaf) they re made it but weren't friendly. For my partner, when they gave him his drink they basically said something along the lines of "we cannot do this again, maybe get something iced next time". Which was ridiculous considering we've been to many coffee places before and they have been very understanding and friendly. It was almost like they made him feel bad and singled him out for having an allergy, that is out of his control. The coffee quality? Nothing to write home about. read more

Update: after the initial review below, we were quickly contacted by Java Earth, and they provided us with a refund and gift card. Very professional - we'll be back soon. Wow - we've been going here for a while, as the location is convenient, but today we had some of the worst avo toast and tuna melt ever. By the time we got to our picnic spot, we noticed both were super burnt, along with the tuna tasting sour. Super disappointed in the food quality. Really good coffee here and fresh avocado toast! Our first time was great. We brought our dog and sat outside. For a week day morning it was pretty busy and we waited maybe around 15 minutes for our food. I'd come back here for the coffee for sure. The menu wasn't super thrilling but what I had was really fresh and yum so hence the good review. The employees were also nice. read more

The cracking of eggshells in my mouth made me loose my appetite. We paid (still tipped of course) and left. It was great the first time and mediocre the second time. I prefer consistently in service, especially if I'm waiting an hour to be seated.

The Salsa Secreta was our favorite; a creamy 3-chile salsa with an artichoke flavor, this one packs an enjoyable amount of heat. The Chipotle was another yummy and creamy option, making your nose run but still very enjoyable. Frijoles Puercos-7/10: They were pretty standard. I've definitely had better. They served their purpose as a good side. Concha Rellena-7.5/10: Another creative menu item. Whipped cream and whole strawberries sandwiched between two french toast-style concha halves and drenched in cajeta. It was sweet and warm, but would've been more enjoyable with fresher and/or sliced strawberries. Fun to order, but a regular concha is better suited for enjoying with your coffee. Service-6/10: Again, Cocina 35 gets packed, so service isn't as attentive. Our party had to order and wait for water, ask for refills, call the server over for more orders and again for the bill, and wouldn't speak to us in Spanish. I witnessed other tables be spoken to in Spanish, but upon ordering I'd only be responded to in English. I know I'm a white Mexican, but native tongue is nice when I make it clear I'd like to order in Spanish. Overall, a fun spot with solid menu items. The samplers are pricey but probably the best bang for your buck. They do the classics very well, and are very much worth your visit!
