We've always enjoyed the shabu at Jazz Cat over the years - their ingredients never fail to be fresh and good quality, and the portions are generous with tasty sauces and a wide variety of broths to choose from. You start by choosing your meat option, then the broth and sauce - and you can also add sides and snacks from the decent sized menu. I almost always go with either the Angus beef or premium pork selection. I also like to make sure I add an egg to my order - I love the creamy yolk when it's been poached in the broth and broken over the rice - YUM! You have two options when it comes to your meat/veggie ratios in the portions - regular or "T-rex". The "regular" option gives you more veggies and a "regular" serving of the meat while the T-rex option gives you quite a bit more meat. I can't say I see a difference in how much veggies you get with the T-rex - it almost looks the same as the regular and for the same price so it's a good deal imo. The meats are consistent in their quality and always taste great to me with soft, delicate textures - sliced so thin they cook up fast in the boiling broths. I love to dip them in the satay sesame sauce (my fave one here). The veggies come in a surprisingly wide variety - cabbage, bok choy, some type of squash/gourd, zucchini, broccoli, baby corns, onions, and you even get a fish ball and imitation crab piece! For the broth, I pretty much stick to either the pork bone broth (my usual) or the Japanese creamy miso if I'm feeling something lighter. I've also tried the tomato broth and the creamy milk/corn broth and they were good but not ones I'd get regularly (personal preference). The broths are all tasty but rather light and mild and could definitely stand to be a bit stronger in flavor. I almost always find myself wishing for a little salt or soy sauce. The satay sesame sauce is complex and sooo flavorful with the peanutty satay complimenting the umami sesame profile and adding that much needed boost of flavor that's missing from the broths. The Japanese sesame and thai satay are also solid sauce choices. The meals come with a bowl of rice but you can sub vermicelli noodles if you want. They also include a little portion of the noodles with veggies so you get both either way. The vibes are sleek and modern with very swanky jazz-club style decor and intimate seating for your party. I love the cat theme too - even their hotpots have paws and ears - it's so fun! Service is often a tad lacking - they're nice but inattentive and go long stretches without checking on you (even when they aren't busy). You almost always have to flag someone down for the check or just make your way to the front to pay. That's the main reason for my four star rating as opposed to five. Prices are decent for the quality and portions. And they also have an AYCE option! There's a decent sized parking lot in back of the building but when it's busy parking gets challenging - especially since they closed their San Gabriel location. All in all this is a solid choice for shabu - we've been coming for years (my review is long overdue lol) and definitely will be back!
I use to love jazz cat since set menu hot pot places are pretty rare to come by now since AYCE is a better business model for a lot of hot pot places but over the years i feel like the quality gone downhill. The service was good as always but i feel like the quality in meat declined. However the set menu was large enough to make me feel satisfied towards the end of the meal. There's plenty of seating and the table size is really big! perfect for a good spread of ingredients. They also have an AYCE option here ! Plenty of parking! and Molly tea is the next plaza down to finish the state flow
I have to admit this was our first choice however we were pleasantly surprised with our dinner. We were in Arcadia area, so knew there were a lot of choices for a hot pot let struck out at the first two since we didn't have reservations and the wait was extremely long. We found this place on Yelp and immediately went on the waitlist. We were seated immediately upon arrival. All the tables are booths within individual burners/pots for each person. They have an option of all you can eat and Ala cart. That all you can eat for an adult was $39.95 for dinner. My only complaint was we had to flag the server down each time we wanted something. They weren't really checking on you voluntarily. Once we did ask for an item, they did bring it promptly. The way this one works is: you pick your soup base which they have a lot of options. I chose the Japanese miso, which was so flavorful. Next, you choose two sauces. Now it's time for all the stuff inside starting with the meats. They didn't have any seafood on all you can eat menu. Next was the veggies. I didn't see bok choy on the menu, but we asked and they had it. Lastly, you can ask for noodles or rice. They bring everything to your table so there isn't a buffet type area where you get your sauces or veggies. It was such a cool day in shabu shabu hit the spot.
Awww this place is such a vibe! Came in on a rainy night, perfect for some hot pot. The restaurants decor lives up to their name Jazz Cat. I love the low lighting on each table. It's a perfect place for a date night or a group of company. Their sweet potatoe fries as a side were good w a crunchy outside and soft inside combo. The server was attentive and helpful with suggestions for flavoring Soup was super yummy and they give an abundance of topping amounts, I was full from one serving, imagine AYCE :0
First time at the Arcadia location! Parking was a little hard to find but there's a lot in the back and you can only enter the restaurant from the back. Service was pretty good. We had a party of 8 and were seated immediately on a Saturday night at 6 pm. The first round of food came out quickly but the rounds afterwards took some time. Recommend the kelp and sukiyaki soup bases. You can also order multiple items at the same time for the ayce menu without limit. We didn't realize there was also green onions and garlic and some other condiments in the hallway so keep an eye out for that. They also had a promotion where they gave out free Jazz Cat pots too!
My party arrived at Jazz Cat around 6:00 PM on a weekday and experienced no wait to be seated, which was a great start to our visit. The staff greeted us warmly and promptly asked whether we preferred the a la carte or all-you-can-eat dining option. We chose the a la carte option, and it ended up being more than sufficient for everyone in our group. For our meal, we ordered the Japanese Spicy Curry soup base in the T-Rex style (more meat, fewer vegetables) and the Japanese Miso soup base in the regular style (a balanced portion of meat and vegetables). When comparing the two broths, the Japanese Miso soup is more flavorful, as in saltier (in a good way!) where the Japanese Spicy Curry was more mellow. Regardless, both broths were flavorful and enjoyable. One tip for future diners: opting for the regular style may be the better value. The T-Rex style does not provide a significantly larger portion of meat when compared to the regular option, making the upgrade less worthwhile. We also tried the Japanese sesame, ponzu, and Thai satay dipping sauces. Each complemented the hot pot ingredients well, and we were satisfied with all three selections. The service throughout our visit was attentive and responsive. Additionally, the restrooms were clean and well-maintained. Parking is free and conveniently located in front of the restaurant, which is a major plus. Overall, a pleasant dining experience with solid food, good service, and convenient amenities.
Jazz Cat in Arcadia offers all-you-can-eat (AYCE) shabu-shabu. There is a variety of broths and sauce to choose from. ::Food:: We enjoyed the Premium Angus Beef for its tenderness but the beef short plate was overly fatty. The Japanese Spicy Miso and Spicy Tomato broths were flavorful and packed with spice, while the Satay Sesame broth was watery. The best AYCE shabu shabu restaurant in the area. There are not many AYCE places around anymore, but this one is the most worth it and most affordable. At only $40/person you get all of the meat options, vegetables, noodles, and others hot pot essentials. The quality of the ingredients is great and the sauces are also very delicious. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the interior is huge. The AYCE option is super worth it, but they also have a la carte options.
I haven't been to many shabu shabu restaurants, but this one had the biggest portion sizes out of all of them. Loved their lamb and beef. Their miso broth was better than their bone broth, but both were delicious. Definitely add an egg to your soup and choose their spicy bean sauce which went very well with the meal. Service was very fast and I like how big their booths are, packed with 6 burners at each. I'd like to go back to try different combinations.
I had a good experience dining here. I considered this place to be a classic hot pot place in the San Gabriel Valley area. The staff was nice and hosted us efficiently and attentively. They came coming to our table to ask if we needed anything further. The golden fish ball was probably a stand out from everything that we ordered. All the other items (broth, quail egg and meats) were pretty standard and nothing too different than from other hot pot places, but still really good. The price isn't too bad either, considering all the food you are getting. Overall, this place hits the spot when it's a cold day out, or even if you are just craving casual hot pot. Sad that their valley location closed down, but this new location still does it nicely.
Ambience: pretty picturesque. Big chairs and tables with build in hot pot. Food: ok. It's edible. I like my t- Rex size meat and but the veggies portion was a bit small. Vermicelli was about 4 to 5 strands. Portion was smaller than if you go to melange pay by pound places. Service: Quiet bad. Put in back corner. Not check often. Waiter mixed broth, have uncommitted answers, and attitude like they didn't really to be there. But found out later broth were mixed. Had to wait about 30 minute for my milk tea. And flag a waiter to ask. ( they forgot) Soup was almost dried out before they refill with plain broth. Had to flag waiter from common area to get service. Pricing: 28 for beef T- Rex 25 for regular chicken 8.50 for about 1.2 cup of fried tofu 4.99 for green milk tea that taste funny... Total was 100 bucks plus. And they have a promo spend 100 you get a cat hot pot ( I gave it away). Tip: I gave bare minimum because in the end my sister had to get up and get more napkins and spoons. Since there were no one to come to check up on us after giving us our food. Our water was gone. Tables were not cleaned. If table next to us didn't have guests we probably be ignored until check time. Amazing huh? When they have check they check table 2x and I refused to pay until they gave us to- go containers. Location: not noticeable at the front main street in the dark. But Google map found the place. Pokestop: 1 gym and 2 Pokestop within reach. Maybe there's a reason why there's a lot of Pokestop....
I've been coming to this place for eons now....their other location on valley is closed now..... Overall this place is clean consistent and nothing is ever wrong...it is kind of hidden and I think business used to be more bustling..... I just got the veggie miso with the veggie combo almost all the time It is one of my go to places for shabu. Service was good and the place is generally clean. I'll be back as I always have!!!!
Jazz cat now has ALL YOU CAN EAT! $37.95 for dinner/premium menu Seafood add ons for $5 more I was surprised to find out they changed to ayce and had to come try for myself. Background: I had jazz cat once before and got the corn soup base set before it went ayce, enjoyed the experience and see their selling point in having unique broths, but couldn't help thinking it would be more worth to go ayce with an extra $10-20... And lo and behold, here they are! Since it's ayce, went with a safe soup base pick, the pork broth, and then ordered a bunch of meat. (You could change ur soup broth for an extra $3.) If u eat well, the soup base may lose a bit of it's flavor towards the end. The Angus beef, beef short plate, and lamb were good! Ordered the chicken once to try and it was better than expected (but still focused on beef and lamb for money worth). DON'T get the pork. I tried it so you don't have to!! It was dry and the chicken tasted better. Didn't try the seafood add on so can't speak for it. Was already getting stuffed from the reg menu. Sauce wise, I like the ones with sesame in it. Kinda wish there was a sauce bar available like how some hot pot places do it. Jazz cat gives individual portions of veggies and sides you ordered. It helps me to try more things. For the price, I do wish there were more or different "hotpot companion" such as meatballs and tofu skin to pick from. I'm not a fan of the corn kennel as it's individual pieces and will just swim around in the soup, refusing to be caught and eaten. BUT I do like corn, I think it'd just make more sense for it to be on a cob for hotpot. Lastly, gotta appreciate all the cut cat decor the restaurant has. Even soup pot holder handles are wittle cat paws!

Man I've been coming here since this location opened, mainly because they closed the Alhambra location for a while. I'm done visiting this location, service went from bad to worse. I got in line via Yelp and was told to check in with the host, some guy named Andrew was punching in his order so I waited for him to finish and before I could say anything he took off. I'm waiting at the front counter when a party of six show up, this dude has the audacity to ignore me and talk to the party that just showed up. I was #2 on the list and he walked them to their table before me, then he let another group of 2 ahead of us. Rude as hell, that's the last straw for me. You combine this with the rude wait staff and it's easy to ignore this location, I'm going back to the Alhambra location or the industry one. Garbage service read more
Came here early for dinner before 6pm and there was absolutely no wait! Wanted to try this Jazz Cat location to see if there was anything different from the one in San Gabriel. Upon entering the restaurant, it was spacious and definitely a bigger lobby area. Parking outside was not bad, but I can imagine it getting crowded pretty quickly. Service was quite nice. We got our food pretty quickly. I more of a meat eater when it comes to hot pots so I like to "T-Rex" my meal. I chose my tried and true Seafood Essence Broth, Sesame Satay sauce with beef. There's actually a lot of broths to try with different soup and sauce combinations. Portion size was pretty decent. Drinking the warm delicious broth is perfect for any cold evening day or any day that you're craving some hot soup. Definitely recommend trying this location especially if you have groups. It just feels more spacious overall. I noticed there was stairs to another level. Possibly a 2 story restaurant? Even better! Jazz Cat is my go-to hot pot place where it's simple, easy, and just really good. read more

I think one of my favorite dinner spots is hot pot/ shabu style food. I enjoy eating a meal with friends and family and this is pretty much like a nice experience. You can sit and chat with your party for quite some time since your cooking the dishes yourself. I usually get the Trex which is more meat and less vegetables. I feel like this is a better deal and you are so much more fuller at the end of it. My favorite soup base is the tomato now but it does change from time to time. Plenty of different choices to choose from. So look over the menu before deciding on what you want. Overall I don't have that many complaints with this Jazz Cat location. It is very organized and all the staff members seem to be helping each other from time to time, which is nice. If you haven't been or never tried, I think you should! You might have a long wait during the weekend so maybe try it on a weekday night. read more

Let's start off by saying that I love Hot Pots! Jazz Cat is a great place to take your family for a good lunch or dinner. The staff is some of the best I've ever been around. Fast, friendly and cheerful. And you know that hard to do all the time but they can make it happen. We wanted to go to one of our favorite places before moving out of state and Jazz Cat was number 1 on the list. The Jazz is a nice clean restaurant and the food was really good also. We've been craving for hotpot and were happy to find Jazz Cat! We used Yelp waiting list and were seated immediately after check-in. We all ordered the T-Rex beef and the portion is good for one person. It comes with rice, meat and vegetable platter. We especially like the individual pot so we can each order our own soup base. Will definitely come back. read more

I go to Jazz Cat when I'm craving for hot pot and don't want to go to an all you can eat place. It is a two story restaurant that shares a parking lot with a bank. They get busy during winter nights. Thank goodness for Yelp Waitlist! The seats inside are spaced apart so that everyone can get their own pot. I usually get the Taiwanese Spicy Satay broth with Premium Beef. Their broth is good and not too salty which I like. I also like that they offer a "T-Rex" option for their protein which means they give you more protein and less vegetables. Every hot pot meal comes with a default side of vegetables and items to throw into the pot along with a side of rice. It's lame that they charge $0.75 to substitute rice for vermicelli. The restaurant offers a nice variety of dipping sauces with the meal. Their sesame sauce isn't nearly as flavorful as Kokumi's down the street but it'll do. The beef has a good ratio of meat and fat which is great for hot pot. I've had the Chicken Nuggets (popcorn chicken) appetizer and it's not something I would order again. It's soaked in oil and overpriced. It's $7.50 for the portion that I can get elsewhere for less. I find that service is better downstairs than it is upstairs. They seem to not staff upstairs with enough servers so service is slower. However, servers are always nice and get me what I need. The restaurant's booth seat backs are high which makes it hard to see if there's servers around. It'd be better if they had the service call buttons like some Korean BBQ restaurants do. read more

My boyfriend and I came here on a Tuesday night for a quick dinner. We were disappointed by the experience-- the wait was unnecessarily long. At one point we were sitting by the door waiting while at least 5 separate groups walked out the door. Yelp waitlist showed we were 1st in line, and yet no movement from the house staff. When we finally got seated we saw that at least half the tables in the restaurant were sitting empty. For our meal, we decided to split a deluxe wagyu beef, and added a few meat and veggie side plates. The portions were extremely small for the side plates.. We ended up paying $6.99 for a mixed fish and meat ball plate with maybe 7 balls, and $3-4 for a very small plate of tofu. The rest of the meal was okay, except that one of the corns had turned. Lastly the service was pretty miserably bad throughout the entire meal-- we had to ask for nearly everything since it wasn't brought to us otherwise (including waters at the beginning of the meal, plates to eat on). Our hot pot had literally completely dried up by the end of the meal because no one had come by to fill it up the entire meal. (See photos) What an experience. read more

Love going to jazz cat! If you added yourself to the waitlist on Yelp, make sure to check in with a host when you go in! The waitlist made everything more convenient since there was such a long wait. This is a Shabu restaurant so make sure you're comfortable cooking your own food. My friend got the Thai spicy soup base, which was alright, but I got the creamy milk n corn. If you get that, I would highly recommend to add chili paste and Japanese sesame sauce into the soup. Top it off with garlic and green onions and it's *chefs kiss* We both got regular premium beef to go into our soups and it's honestly more than enough meat. I don't usually get the t-Rex size because I prefer more veggies than meat, but it's honestly preference. They also come with an egg to either boil or crack into the mix as well read more

The second location to the OG in San Gabriel. The food is super consistent. The wait staff is FEF. Fast. Efficient. Friendly. Parking: easy. They have a lot. The seafood essense brother. Beef. Regular. That's the only way I roll. Can't forget the seseme doing sauce. Overall: will return for hot pot. read more

If you don't burn your tongue, are you REALLY eating hot pot? (not suggesting you inflict self harm) When I first came here, i remember how shocked i was because of how luxurious it felt eating just casual hot pot. I usually go to the San Gabriel one and this place is more grand. Food: Mmmmmh so yummy. 9/10 They have an extensive wide variety of soups. I suggest the milk and corn or milk and kelp soup for all my cheese lovers out there. It's not heavy at all and tasty. Environment: bit noisy, but my friend LOVED the playlist they were playing. the workers were super nice and willing so don't be afraid to ask for more soup! A tip: Use your spoon to cook the meat by placing it in the soup to your desired surface level. A way to eat: Dip your meat into your sauce and eat it with a raw piece of white onion. read more
04/08/2018 It has been a while since this location belong to Din Tai Fung. Once they moved to the Westfield Santa Anita, this was available. I am so glad Jazz Cat took it over because it was confusing which location Din Tai Fung to go to when meeting with friends for dinner. Jazz Cat is taking full advantage of utilizing both upstairs and downstairs. The seating does seem sort of weird when the booth is so far away from the next person you are sitting across. I have been here quite a few times with different people. It is harder to seat larger parties than smaller ones. I have been seated upstairs and downstairs. Service I think is the same no matter which floor you end up on. I am able to ask for garlic, parsley, and green onions. I like the satay and ponzu sauces. One thing I do miss is the daikon radish to help cut the fattiness of my meal. They do come around asking if you want more broth added to your pot. It is very cool that they get these pots that has paws and ears on the pot. I get the T-Rex size beef or lamb. I recently discovered you get different veggies depending on what size you order for the meat. Glad they open until midnight so I don't have a fear of missing out. Definitely great for these cold nights in LA. read more
I have always loved jazz cat. I normally go to the one on Valley but have recently been going to this location because I've noticed that my clothes don't stink as much after eating here (better ventilation is my guess). I always get the regular lamb with Japanese spicy miso broth and satay sauce. Don't forget to ask for cilantro, garlic and green onions to add to your broth! Friendly service but it does take a while to get seated and your food to come out. So GET APPETIZERS. I almost died today because I was starving and forgot. read more
I've always went to the Jazz Cat on valley until they opened this one and I started coming to this one pre-covid. Waited around 45 min on a Thursday at 7:45pm. Waitlist on Yelp was closed so we had to check in when we got there. We were told to be ready by 8:05pm but once 8:05 came we still had to wait an additional 25 min and didn't get seated until around 8:30pm. When we walked in there was 4 empty tables so I wasn't sure why we had to wait so long for 2 people. I received a call to let me know to check in with the host within 5 min and when I walked inside the girl at the front with glasses was doing something on the tablet and I didn't want to bother her so I waited for her to finish to let her know I received the call to check in. When she finished using the tablet she just looked up and stared at me not saying a single word and there was some awkward silence so I just told her I was there to check in. She had an attitude but whatever. When we got seated another female server took our order and she had an attitude too! Later on some of the male workers helped us and they were so nice. I don't remember service being this terrible. Onto the food, I ordered the T-Rex beef with spicy miso soup and everything was so good besides the beef, it was very tough to chew. Finally made it to Jazz Cat! Before I get into the shabu shabu part, let me say their salt and pepper fish is BOMB. Order it. Or order anything salt and pepper on the side. Onto the shabu. They have various broths to choose from, which makes me want to come back to try something else already. I had the pork spicy broth which I recommend for first timers. Cream corn is next for me. I got T-REX style, which means less veggies and more meat. It's a decent tradeoff and even after the extra meat I still didn't feel like I had enough. Top it off with two dipping sauces of your choice. I recommend the sesame variety. Can't wait to go back to try another soup! read more
I love Jazz cat so much. I can eat their food almost everyday. I don't even care if it is 100 degree outside. Yes, I am their regular here:) This place is located in the old Din Tai Fung Spot. It has two floors. They definitely did some great renovation. I love the décor, it has my favorite color of red, leather booth and chandelier. This place has its own free parking lot. You can also RSVP via yelp. They are known for their excellent and variety of premium meat. the meat are sliced to order. They don't use artificial additives to their soup base and they only uses fresh ingredients.Their prices are fairly reasonable between $11-30. I like this place because I have my own hotpot. I love it to load up on veggies and proteins. This is one of the busiest hotpot place in town. Expect to wait during peak dining hours For those that has never been here, you need to start by picking an entrée (ex: Chicken, Lamb, Pork, Beef, Veggie Combo). They also have Deluxe entrée ( Ex: Certified Angus Beef, Jumbo Shrimp, Salmon, Sliced Fish, Seafood Combo). Now chose from their many delicious soup base (ex: Taiwanese Spicy, Pork Bone, Thai Green Curry, Japanese Creamy Miso and Mongolian Herbal). Lastly, you pick your dipping sauce (ex: satay, sesame, thai spicy, ponzu and spicy bean sauce). If you are hungry, I would get the T-Rex vs regular size entrée. When you get a T-Rex , you will get more meat vs veggies. Overall, this place has delightful, exceptional and savory broth. The service has always been superior and amazing. This place runs very smoothly and the wait is not horrendously terrible. Yummy hot pot restaurant! The food was decent, miso broth and spicy pork bone broth were delicious! Spicy Taiwanese was good but could have used some more seasoning. I wish they gave more food, but the restaurant was reasonably priced ~$25 per person The servers were wonderful! Great service and really quick. Would definitely recommend! read more

Arrived here around 5:30pm and had to wait about 10min to be seated. Make sure to use Yelp to get on the waitlist and be on time to check in. If you don't check in on time, they will move someone in front of you. Location is spacious and great for groups. There is parking so that's not a problem. Service was quite nice and welcoming! Started us with menu and water right away. Servers were always around and ready if you want to request something. Started off with the Premium Beef T-Rex option with tomato soup base and it was great! Choice of sauce is ponzu and you can ask for hot sauce (other sauce) on the side. Comes with white rice. Also got the French fries with Thai spicy sauce (can also ask for ketchup). Veggies side are lettuce, tiny corn, tofu, imitation crab, onion, pumpkin, noodles, fish ball, and broccoli. read more

I always visit Jazz Cat when I'm back in the 626 and this location is nicer than the old one! They have more booths and there are two floors (and their pots are actually shaped like a cat!). We luckily didn't have to wait for a table at 5:45pm on a Thursday. My favorite combo has to be the T-Rex lamb, spicy pork bone broth, and preserved bean curd (with garlic and a little bit of cilantro mixed in -- you can ask for a plate of garlic/cilantro/green onions). The spicy seafood essence is really good too when I want something a little heavier but gets a little too salty at the end. Good portions for the price and I always end up being super full! read more
I am a fan of the Jazz Cat in San Gabriel, so I had somewhat high expectations of this newer location. It seems smaller than the SGV location, but we were seated immediately during a weekday lunch hour. I tried my usual pork bone broth with the certified Angus rib eye. For my sauce, I tried my usual TW BBQ sauce, which is a satay sauce. I enjoyed everything, from the fresh tasting vegetables to the rich pork bone broth. For whatever reason, I found the service better at this location than the SGV location. I think it's because newer, so I'll have to return once this place has been around for a while. The rib eye meat was thinly cut and tender when cooked. The satay sauce was flavorful. For the price, I wish the large rib eye would come with a few more slices, but I appreciated the quality over quantity. Another difference with this location is that it's easier to self-regulate the temperature of the cook tops. At the SGV location, usually the servers need to regulate the cook tops, but at this location you can adjust it from the top of the table. Much easier. read more
TLDR; probably my favorite hot pot place in America. It's a decent price, I'm always full after, and the quality of the food is pretty good. I personally don't like hot pot places like Boiling Point, where everything is served already cooked and in the pot. I prefer having my own individual pot and cooking things at my own pace. This is one of the main reasons why I like Jazz Cat so much. It's super customizable with a ton of different soup bases to choose from. Same thing with the dipping sauce. I always go for pork bone broth and Japanese sesame. Pork bone broth for a cleaner, lighter soup base...I just have all the food flavor the broth. I got the premium lamb. You have the option to make it "T-Rex" style for no additional cost. It just adds more meat but you get less veggies. Each order comes with a bowl of rice and a raw egg. To add flavor to the broth, there's green onions, garlic and cilantro. If you need more broth during your meal, just ask the workers. I always have a great experience here. The quality of the food is decent and I'm always full after. Most of the time I can't finish everything so I at least finish all the meat. Workers were great and they speak both English and Mandarin. Everyone is supposed to order $5 minimum but we had two people in our group who already ate and they let it slide. read more
I had a terrible experience here, wish it was better and I was acknowledged at my table. Customer service needs to improve. I was in the middle of the isle and all staffs cannot miss me. Took them that long to get some assistance after I waved them down. Literally, staff walked past by me and said hold on. Then the next. Food: Ordered the T. rex protein with sukiyaki, I like how they give you more protein which was fulfilling, but was not satisfying. The quality of the meat was awful and chewy. It's not a premium protein. 2/5 The popcorn chicken was actually the best dish than the shabu. 4/5 Also, ordered a soju bottle, but the young man totally forgot about it . You had one job to do. Moreover, staff needs to be more attentive to their customers and remember their orders or at least write them down and follow up. They don't really follow up on you there. I love this newer location of Jazz Cat, because it is more spacious, has more privacy between different parties, seats guests generally faster than other locations, and it has cute cat pots! Jazz Cat is best for customizing individual hot pots. Guests may choose the meat, soup, and sauce. They may also choose whether they want regular (less meat, more veggies) or T-rex (more meat, less veggies). The total for one pot would round up to $15. My favorite meats are beef or pork. My favorite soups are Japanese sukiyaki and milky cream and corn. My recommended sauces are satay, satay sesame, and ponzu. I can eat hot pot in any weather, and Jazz Cat is a great choice to fulfill that craving. read more
Like all other Jazz Cat restaurant, you know what you will be getting. Which is good, consistency is key. This place took over what used to be Din Tai Fung, parking can be found in their private lot in the back and there street parking in the surrounding area. Jazz Cat's strength is their vast offering of soup broths to choose from... i would say easily 20 variations of broth.. definitely something to suit everyone. Solid place for hot pot & opens late. Yayyyy, finally a Jazz cat in Arcadia. I no longer have to drive to San Gabriel for this. The menu is a bit confusing here. They have snacks and rice dishes that you can order, but for the Shabu Shabu, You basically choose an entree (type of meat or vegetarian) dish, then choose a soup base and lastly, choose a sauce to go with your meal. For the entree part, you can choose regular or T-rex. Regular means you get half meat (of choice) and half vegetables (cucumber, lettuce, tofu, fish ball, vermicelli). T-rex is basically mostly meat. You can always order add-on sides for extra if you'd like. I got the coconut milk broth and it was heavenly good. The coconut flavor is very strong. Pair it with sesame sauce and it's to die for. read more
A Hot Pot with cat ears and paws, anyone? Since I am more of a cat person, this place was on my radar and I was anticipating coming here one day. I came here for my friend's birthday because she chose this place. We were a party of 11 and took up 3 tables. It was so much fun and the servers were very good with waiting on us, and I meant that literally, too! They even brought out plates and forks for the birthday cake which was brought in by a person in our group. There is a parking lot in front which is FREE! The tall 2 story front with the logo and signage makes for a grand entrance! I like the red and black decor here. The picture of the three cats in the group "'Jazz Cats" is cute! The restroom plays fairly loud music...funny thing is that in actuality, it is a good thing! I was debating on whether to get the regular or the T-Rex Hot Pot. Both are the same price, the only difference is you get 50% more meat/less veggies with the T-Rex. I wasn't too terribly hungry, so I chose the regular one. You pick the portion size, broth, protein or veggie, and your dipping sauce. I got the Premium Beef and I can't remember which broth I chose, maybe Pork Bone? It was mildly spicy, just as I requested. As you run low on soup broth, they refill it for you. I chose the Japanese Sesame sauce, it's usually my favorite one! The meal also comes with the veggie assortment, an egg and a bowl of rice. It was all so very satisfying! The one nice thing about the "stove" is that you can control the heat yourself. The birthday girl chose this place to celebrate her special day and dine with friends... It was a great selection because this restaurant has its own parking lot, convenient restroom, excellent service, and good food! Since their specialty is Hot Pot (aka Shabu Shabu), I ordered the Beef set which came with a variety of veggies, a raw egg, one choice of dipping sauce, one choice of broth, and white rice. For $14.95, it was quite filling! The Kelp and Chinese herbal broth reminded me of the soup that my Popo (grandma) used to make with goji berries and red dates... mmm! Our glasses of water were filled often and more broth was brought several times to us. At the end of the meal, they provided plates and forks for a birthday cake that we brought in! They cleared away the used dishes quickly so we could serve the cake! They didn't rush us out and made us feel welcomed and thanked us sincerely for our business. If we were in the Arcadia area again, I wouldn't mind returning to this restaurant because we had such a pleasant experience! Yes, many of the broths have vegetarian options. If you look in the broth section, any broth with a green leaf has a vegetarian option!
