This was a pretty fun little coffee shop. The breakfast items are all as close to perfect as you can get, but when you go past that, you can tell the other items are not their priority. I order the Texas omelette at least once a week and modify it with a side order of french toast instead of regular toast. Today I attempt to do that, buying two orders. When I was told the total I thought it sounded a little off but I figured there had to be some tax or something I didn't calculate. The prices are similar to another well known 4 letter breakfast place however, this establishment only includes pancakes with one breakfast plate and two pancakes cost north of $5. For my money and the quality, the other well known breakfast eatery is a better bargain...I HOPe you know which eatery I'm speaking of. If pancakes are not a big deal for you, this place will absolutely work for you. This establishment does display the 30.07 signage, which is perfectly acceptable and diners can feel safe. read more

I visited this place on a Sunday morning in which I was met with a 15 minute wait.(What else would you expect if you stopped by on a Sunday) Once our table was prepped-our sever Chernest brought us our drinks. He was very kind and attentive. I ordered the Spanish omelette and my guests and I didn't find ourselves waiting too long for our food to come out. The food was standard from your ordinary Jims restaurant. However, it wasn't relatively hot, more on the lukewarm side.(Whatever, no big deal) It's possible the food was laying around for a bit prior to being served. Nonetheless, I was able to enjoy my meal. I found the other staff to be very attentive towards their tables as I was observing another woman serving her guests. Being new to the area/state, we decided to try Jim's, since we see them around town. As the stars show, kind of a middle of the road experience - not great, but not terrible. A diner place, from the look and feel, to the menu. One thing for this location: we'd bring a jacket or sweater next time. It was a warmish February day, but the back end of the restaurant was cold - colder than needed. For the food, I was happy enough with my fried catfish sandwich, and I loved the cup of tortilla soup I added. (The menu called it 'famous,' and other reviewers mentioned it, so I had to try it. Was glad I did.) My wife was less enamored with her BLT - could have used more mayo. We both felt the food could have used more seasoning overall. My grandson was happy with the kid's spaghetti. The restaurant was clean, and the service was friendly. We liked our time there well enough, and will go again. It probably won't make our "regular rotation," though. read more

OK folks! It is 2 am on the morning of 1 November, and the Halloween crowd is shuffling in. I see four workers in the whole restaurant. Two in the kitchen, one of which is the manager who is cooking and popping out to run the register. The server on the floor is Anthony. He's a busy guy! It takes him a while to get to me, but I order and my food comes out hot and tasty in about 15 minutes. And guess what?! There are no issues. We were looking for a breakfast spot and came across this one while driving on the highway. Decided to give it a chance and I'm glad we did. Our waitress was attentive and it didn't take long to get the food. Everything was hot and we didn't have any issues. I was pretty impressed with the time it took for us to get our food given that the restaurant was pretty busy. I order Jim's through DoorDash all the time for pickup because honestly it's easier than using their ordering system and I get points through my card for it. Today when picking up my order I was greeted by extremely rude staff that has completely turned me off to the entire business. I just got off a 19 hour shift overnight at the hospital while extremely pregnant. I just wanted to get food so I can go home and sleep a couple hours if I'm lucky before I go back and do it all over again tonight. When I got there, I selected curbside pick up like I always do. I don't know if the boy who brought me my food was having a bad morning or what but, he was extremely rude to me about how they "don't use curbside for customers who order through DoorDash." This literally doesn't make sense as I am a paying customer just as I would be if I ordered through their system. Not to mention being very pregnant it is hard to get in and out of my car whereas it's easy for them to run my food out to me. I am extremely disappointed with their service and probably won't be back. As a pregnant woman, I literally was ordering from here every day. Time to find a new pregnancy craving I guess. read more

Jim's newest location on Culebra and 1604 provided a much needed repast after a night of sampling fizzy lifting drinks at the Yard House. Jim's is straightforward with no frills but is always a good ending to a fun evening. Tonight we shared the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and spinach. Nice breading on the CFS surrounding a tender cutlet and smothered with a peppery rich gravy. Nice and lumpy mashers also accompanied by the gravy but the spinach had a metallic flavor, no doubt from the can it was poured out of, and was unappetizing. Now, home James. The food was good but I only received a portion of what I ordered. What I did get was good. Took over 10 minutes to get a waitress after we waved her down. It really wasn't that busy and they had at least 10 waiters. Took over 30 minutes to get our meal. If you need good food fast and have a toddler with you - go somewhere else. Great place to eat. Very comfortable atmosphere and everyone was nice and very friendly. The food was really good as well. I wasn't sure what I wanted since I hadn't been here before but my waitress (Irene) was very welcoming and took her time and gave me some suggestions. Ok. So I have probably eaten at Jim's restaurants over 50 times in my life. I've been to this location around 5 times and I have to say the service here is consistantly excellent. We all know what to expect from the food but the people that work here just make it for me. Today we were waited on by Rodrigo, and it was my best experience yet at a Jim's resturant. Rodrigo is an evil genius and together we created a breakfast to rule all breakfasts. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast and asked for a side of sausage gravy for my biscuits. When he asked if I wanted the gravy on my chicken fried steak my life changed. That's right. Sausage gravy on my chicken fried steak!!! No shame here. Goodbye size 38's I'm moving up. One of the worst experiences I ever had dining out was at Jim's on Mother's Day, 9 May 2021. I realize it was Mother's Day but me and wife had to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes. We experienced a rude waitress you made a couple smart remarks and ignored my wife on two separate occasions when she was attempting to get her attention. The last straw was when a couple and their son who was sitting directly across from us and was seated after us was served their food before us. During this terrible experience, there were 10s of meals piled up on the kitchen counter for countless minutes. After my incident with the change they made with the chicken tender basket (which should now be called the mini chicken filet basket) i gave this Jims another try... big mistake. The mozzarella sticks weren't fried enough and were soft. My chicken tortilla soup which normally comes with cheese inside came with it on the side and the tortilla strips were extremely greasy. My half BLT was terrible.. how do you mess up a BLT?!? They gave me a round slice of a thin tomatoe on the half slice of bread. I sliced it in half to make sure it fit the entire slice of bread but it was so thin it was basically a bacon lettuce half.. the only thing good was the onion rings. My parents and I went to eat breakfast at this location. Leslie was outstanding! Quick, efficient, and very accommodating. The food was delicious and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. I would highly recommend this Jim's. I live in Houston so I don't get to enjoy Jim's often, so from now on when I come to visit, Jim's will definitely be on my list to visit for grub! read more

Sucks to give such a low rating because there is a lot of potential for this place if they just invested & restructured. First the food, I ordered the 3 eggs with bacon, toast & hash browns.. I got scrambled eggs & they were watered down.. it was like I was eating mush. The bacon & toast were the only appetizing thing honestly, the hash browns were drained in oil though. My sister ordered the grilled chicken sandwich & when her plate came out it was very sad, her fries were uncooked yet filled with grease. The grilled sandwich bun was so soaked from the grease coming off the chicken.. it was just awful honestly. The service was kind of aggressive, could've been more nicer & welcoming. I couldn't help but look up at the ceilings & noticed the structure looks like there is a bunch of wet marks & stains above it, not really something a customer wants to look at while they are eating. I'm a fan of Jim's for a quick lunch or late night meal. This particular location is just not what I expect from Jim's. My first visit, was off peak hours and not busy. The service was just adequate but the tortilla soup was just barely warm. My second visit, the restaurant was fairly full and we waited for a table as we had a party of 5. Service was extremely slow. By the time we ordered the restaurant was clearing out. We waited 25-30 minutes for 2 pancake plates, a burger, a salad and a soup & salad. I'm not sure what the issue was, but would not dine here if in the area again. read more
