I'm usually more of a dipper typa guy but the sauce being all over was really good. Tried their jjamppong and it was good. If you like spicy food you gonna love this bowl of noodles. Good amount of spice and can still taste the umami from the seafood. The spicy crab still amazing as always. We went on a Sunday around lunch time and sadly, there did not seem to be any online waitlist so we had to show up, write down our name on their paper list, and just wait nearby until your party is called. They have a nice outdoor heater from those waiting to be seated inside. Very thoughtful given that it's starting to get in the 40's out here. What a gem! I finally visited Jjamppong after all the buzz about Korean marinated raw crab these past few months, and I think this is one of the few places in the Bay Area that offers it. I looked around, and almost all the tables ordered a few staples: chicken wings, black bean noodles, raw marinated crab, or string beans. We put our names down on the clipboard and waited for about 20 minutes on a Sunday night. I absolutely loved the chicken wings! They came out piping hot and were loaded with aromatics like garlic, green onions, and dry chili peppers. Each wing was coated with a savory glaze, and every bite was so meaty! The star of the show had to be the spicy marinated raw crab. It has all these different textures going on. You get the freshness and crunch from the mixed greens and onions and the firm, yet gelatinous, squeeze-able meat of the raw crabs. The marinade is not liquidy (like what you'd find with soy-marinated raw crab) but instead, a mixture of chili powder, ginger, green onion, and garlic paste that was spread onto each crevice of the crab. It definitely has some heat to it. There were about 3 small crabs in total in the dish, which is enough for sharing between 2-3 people. It also came with a pack of seaweed and a bowl of rice, which was just meh. The mediocre white rice was the only let-down. We also devoured the garlic string beans. Went for Lunch Food - 5/5. I enjoyed that they used the western cabbage for their kimchi because the extra crunch it provided paired well with the other foods. Jajangmyeon noodles were perfectly chewy and the sauce rich with umami chunjang, rich pork and aromatic vegetables. The fried dumplings had the crispiest skin which contrasted well with the soft kimchi filling. The spicy gejang made me change my mind about gejang. I am normally not the biggest fan of gejang, but the gejang here was so fresh, meaty and just the right level of spicy seasoning with notes of sesame that I could not stop devouring it. Each piece of the crab from the body to the legs all had a distinctly clean finish to them and were very easy to peel. Paired with the gim and rice, the combo was fantastic. A must try! Service - 5/5. Very friendly and quick with requests. As a complimentary treat after the meal, they provided a nice brownie. Awesome way to finish a meal, especially along with the complimentary tea! The spice level is tolerable. Think kimchi level type of spice. They provide you gloves to eat with, so your hands stay clean. The crab comes with seaweed and rice so you can make a small wrap. Heck yes! JJamPPong has been strong on my radar now so it's incredible that I finally get that chance to try it out. Known for their marinated raw crab meat on TikTok, I needed to try it out. First and foremost, I really respect the customer service here. They're very quick at their job and they do things automatically without you saying anything. This place has a cool combination of Chinese and Korean food merged together and the food is really good too. We ended up getting a couple things. The first thing that is a must for me is the Jajangmyeon, or black bean noodles, Jjamppong which is like this korean seafood noodle soup, garlic eggplant, and the marinated raw crab. Everything was delicious! The black bean noodles were super saucy, lightly flavorful, and the noodles were cooked smoothly to perfection. The jjamppong had a good generous amount of seafood and the soup broth held so many noodles. I loved it. And the eggplant was super soft and delicious too! I loved how tender it was and the garlic sauce really gave it that extra mmph of flavor. And last but not least, the marinated raw crab. For $28 I thought it was really good for what it was! I never thought I would have raw crab meat, but I thought it was really good. It's so soft and the marinade that they mixed the crab legs in was lightly spicy and good. I recommend trying it out.
