We went for their happy hour on a Friday night. They have an amazing happy hour Monday-Friday 3-5. All their snacks are 50% off. House cocktails and all glasses of wine are $10. You can't beat that! The space is chic and quaint. It looked like there was outdoor seating, but with it being the hottest days of August we gladly stayed in the AC. With the small space and all hard surfaces, it gets loudly very quickly. Having a private conversation could be difficult. But if you want to eavesdrop on the relationship drama from the table across the room, get your popcorn ready! The staff were awesome. All our courses were timed perfectly. They kept our glasses full and they were very professional and friendly. Since the happy hour was so good, we ordered everything but the beef tartare. The charcuterie board was amazing. The surprising star of the board was the smoked, pickled carrots. You get the smokiness first followed by the tanginess of the vinegar. The sourdough bread was fresh and an excellent compliment to the board. The beet & feta was delicious. The lemon oil added a nice complexity to such a simple dish (and also tasted great with the bread). The brussel sprouts were fine, but nothing special. They weren't as crispy as I would have liked. The burrata dish was delicious and refreshing. The Josephine burger was a healthy portion. It was cooked to perfection. The aioli and grilled onions were delicious and added the right amount of flavor without overpowering. The frites had just the right amount of crisp and a fatty finish. So delicious. The cocktails were smooth. The Cabernet was disappointing (but for $10, it was ok). The Malbec and Pinot Noir had a richer body and worth it. We had an excellent experience here. Always love a stop at JH for steak frite nights on Monday or brunch on the weekends. Based on that.. they're a 5. I have to dock a star from my last experience. Our reservation began 20 minutes late, which they apologized profusely for and I would be normally fine with that.. but instead of gently nudging the party of 2 out, they rushed us instead. When I say rushed, I mean I'm two bites into my salad and they're asking to box it up. Three bites into my steak, they're asking to box it up. By dessert, I had a pile of boxes and out came the bill. Honestly the food was little pricey for the quality, took about 35-40 minutes to get our food and unfortunately when we did my steak was cold . The potatoes could've been more seasoned but were decent when dipped in the red chimichurri sauce. My boyfriend's sandwich was good, but the sourdough bread was thick and messed with the flavor of what was actually inside, maybe the croissant would've been better but they ran out. The salad was ehh but the seasoned tomatoes were good. We got a lemonade, but seemed like it was prepared with some type of sparkling water, it was sour so didn't finish it. Nice cute little house offering brunch- we sat inside in one of the cozy rooms over looking the outdoor patio. The service was excellent and attentive yet also allowed us to visit without too much interruption. The latte was so creamy that I ordered a second one! Chose the "Citrus Cured Lox Scottish salmon, potato hashbrown, sour cream, soft boiled egg, capers, dill" for $24. My friend has the Avocado Toast for $19. Both dishes were excellent. The service was absolutely wonderful and our glasses were always full. I will be coming back to experience their full menu, as I was disappointed in the Monday special but think the place has potential. The steak-frites menu is roughly $50-$70 depending on what steak you choose, and it includes unlimited house wine, an appetizer, a steak and fries entree, and a dessert. The house wine options are white, rose, and red but be warned: it's boxed wine. The rose was so terrible and vinegary that I thought it was corked. The white wine was palpable and the red wine was very sweet and fruity. But with unlimited wine, beggars can't be choosers. I ordered the wedge salad and my friend ordered the pate as our appetizers. They were both extremely flavorful and I was especially impressed with the quality of the blue cheese in my salad. The biggest disappointment was the steak itself. We ordered the meal with a New York strip and it was so chewy and fatty. Finally, for dessert I ordered the incredible goat cheese cheesecake and my friend ordered the chocolate mousse. read more

Although it was decently cold outside, our table on the patio was still nice and cozy. They have heaters going in every corner, along with blankets behind each seat if you need it. The server was attentive and ready to go throughout our entire meal. I drink a lot of water so having a waiter ready to top you off throughout the meal really means a lot. The burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with the fries delivered hot and crunchy. My only negative is that they definitely charge a premium on their items to keep with the style and name. My friend and I went to Josephine House for their Monday steak frites menu. We didn't make a reservation but got seated immediately which was nice. They only have the steak menu on Monday's so please be aware and it consists of an appetizer and choice of steak(different prices for each) and a dessert, but let's not forget the best part - the unlimited wine(before the last course). If you want to get an actual steak you're looking at around $65 and up for your whole experience. I thought it was worth it considering the unlimited wine. I got the chicken liver mousse for starters and was very impressed by the quality and flavor of the dish. For entree, I got the ny strip medium and although the flavor was good, the steak was super chewy. Definitely not tender but the fries were good. I got the double chocolate bar for dessert and that was amazing! As well as the goat cheese cheesecake it's a must try. This is a quaint little spot, in an old house on a corner. Feels very off-the-beaten-path. Booked reservations for a Thursday, but probably didn't need them as it wasn't super busy. There is lots of outdoor seating- both under some umbrellas and on a little patio area. We sat inside as it was hot, and there are not many tables inside. We sat in the 'front room' by some lovely windows, and had a view of the counter covered in goodies and fresh baked breads. My husband and I split the lemon ricotta waffles and they were absolutely delicious. They came with a bit of strawberry sauce, a drizzle of maple syrup, and some strawberry bites and they were fluffy enough to eat plain. I'm not a huge pancake person in all honesty, but we both agreed these were one of the best we've ever had. An order is 4 smallish pancakes- perfect to share with ham, bacon, and eggs. Josephine House is definitely a restaurant that someone has told you to visit. Through word of mouth, I had heard how amazing, cute and quaint Josephine House was so I waited two weeks for reservations. What I've found is the optimal brunch times get reserved quickly, but the later afternoon times stay pretty available. Josephine is exactly as people describe- it's a cute picturesque restaurant in a cute little Clarksville neighborhood. I came on a Sunday and it was quite warm. We were sat on the back patio and there was general zero air circulation. While there was umbrella cover, it was uncomfortable to say the least. I originally booked reservations inside for this reason, however, the party grew in size, so last minute changes were made. Our waitress was pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed. I can't say my experience was "bad" but below are the reasons I can't give 5 stars: 1. The menu is good, but I honestly expected more for a widely known brown spot- something like biscuits, a traditional breakfast, or something southern at the very least. What I got was salad, buddha bowl, and yogurt. 2. All of the items were grossly overpriced. I ended up getting the steak and eggs and it was $30 I want to say. The steak was decent, the eggs were decent, but there was nothing special about the plate. If I'm coming to a "must-try" spot, I want something more than a cute picture. 3. One of the things I noticed with the company that owns basically all of clarksville is the increase in price in lieu of a truly stellar experience. I don't mind paying higher than average prices, but I want a great experience alongside that. The party I was with was great, but we all left soaked in our own sweat. My husband and I have been passing by this spot and wanting to go for as long as we have lived here. As we sometimes do, we let one person telling us it wasn't worth it sway us from going time and time again. This last Fathers Day, I decided it was the perfect ambiance for us to go and enjoy together as a family and find out for ourselves. I'm not sure where parking typically is, but we found street parking fairly easy, right around the corner. A server saw us walking up, pushing our stroller and rushed to go grab the door, so immediately I was impressed. We were greeted very warmly and placed at a corner table. We were instantly in love with the cute little house, fresh flowers, adorable tables, and the entire ambiance. This was totally our vibe and reminded us of some of our favorite spots back in Colorado. Our server was Kirstie and she was just so sweet, so helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. We tried a little bit of everything and before making final decisions, asked for her personal recommendations and we took them all! We have zero regrets and nearly went back again two days later. The food was so delicious, the indoor space SO CUTE, Our server was perfection & we even made friends with some of the other diners. If I had to say anything at all, it's an old house so it got a little toasty inside, but that is the only thing I can possibly think of. Don't let these negative reviews sway you, GO! Let me start by saying we had an amazing waiter who took care of us to the best of her ability. We started with a scone and yogurt. They were both delicious as expected. The drinks were okay. We had an orange mimosas, grapefruit mimosas, and a brandy drink. Our stomachs were set for the steak and eggs. It's our favorite and we don't stir from it. The steak portion took us by surprise.
