    Beef rolls with cucumbers inside

I love this spot. Pretty good beef rolls and dan dan noodles, which are two of my must try's at any spot authentic Chinese spot that sells them. Love the hole in the wall vibe. The service was okay though, as expected at least lol.

JTYH is located in a small plaza next to Starbucks with its own parking lot. This Mom and Pop run restaurant is a hidden gem in the SGV. If you are looking for Chinese food, definitely come and check this place out. We actually came to this restaurant twice in a span of 2 weeks, so this review will cover both times. The service was quick and the owners were very nice and courteous. The ambiance felt like a cozy sit down restaurant. During our first visit, we ordered pan fried dumplings with pork, beef stewed noodle soup with knife cut noodles, and don don noodles with hand pulled noodles. Just a quick tip - some noodle dishes allow you to choose between two types of noodles. One type is the knife cut noodles, which is a larger, thicker, and chewier type of noodle. The other type of noodle is the hand pulled noodle, which is your thin noodles. The pan fried dumplings with pork were your typical fried dumplings and were okay. The beef stewed noodle soup was pretty good. My wife enjoyed the knife cut noodles and the soupy base. One thing that I noticed with this dish was that there were a good amount of pickled vegetables within the broth, which my wife also enjoyed. The Dan Dan noodles with hand pulled noodles was definitely the star of the show. Personally, I enjoyed the thin noodles much more than the thicker knife cut noodles. The Dan Dan noodles come with spicy sauce base and peanuts, a combination that was very tasty. Make sure you mix it well before you eat it! On our second visit, we ordered the pan-fried bun with pork, the Mooshu fried noodles, and, of course, the Dan Dan noodles again! The small order of pan fried bun with pork came with six buns. The buns were fried to a nice crisp and it had a generous amount of pork filling. The bread was a bit doughy, though, but definitely worth a try. The Mushu fried noodles were delicious. I really enjoyed the egg mixed with vegetables and shredded pork pieces that were on top of the noodles. Lastly, we ordered the Dan Dan noodles again because they're so Dan good! Overall, we would definitely return to try the other items on the menu!

After a couple of years of coming here, I realized I haven't written a review for them yet. Shameful. I discovered them a while back when I was across the street at a dentist's office. Looked them up in Yelp and brought my family back to try them out, and immediately liked them. They specialize in handmade noodles, especially knife cut. Though there are several in the SGV, JTYH seems to have that great chewy texture ( or Q ) Add some high heat wok flavor and you got yourself some very tasty noodles. Their soup noodles are also very good, with the same chewy consistency. Besides noodles, they also have handmade dumplings. On a few occasions when we walked in, they're at a table by the kitchen making them. I've tried their stir fried noodles, soup noodles, scallion pancakes, beef rolls and other items, and I've always leave with a happy and full stomach. JTYH is the place to go for some authentic handmade noodles. I hate to say they're a hidden gem but I've only seen them busy once. They share a small parking lot with a meat market next door but usually there's no problem finding a spot. Check their hours on Yelp because they take a break in the afternoons. It's a little out of the way for me to eat here but I'd gladly take the drive then go somewhere that's closer, but not as good. Plus, I love supporting small family businesses.

Portions are pretty generous for the price. If you're eating inside. It can get pretty warm with the stuffiness of the summer heat. Nevertheless, what brought me to here was the hand cut shaved noodles. There were a lot of pictures of people ordering mooshu cat ears. It's essentially a mix of fried scrambled egg with mushrooms on top. Their portion size for the pig ears is definitely bigger than what most other Chinese restaurants serve. Lamb had that great smokiness to it without the overpowering game to it.

This place was busy. The food was very good and the service was good. The price is average. I think this place is overlooked by people because there are a lot of noodle places in this area. The noodles here are freshly made and the wonton that I had was full of flavor that you want in a dumpling. I think what could have been better was the beef in the noodle could have been cooked a little longer to make it more tender. But the noodles and dumpling were spot on. I hope they can improve on the beef because that would be important to my family and me to enjoy our noodle dishes.

Small restaurant/ cafe that specializes in noodles and dumplings. And more specifically, shanxi knife-cut noodles. The place feels family owned and operated and this was reflected in the friendly, warm service. I came in on a cold evening, looking for some warm soup. So I ordered the beef noodle soup. I ended choosing the thinner, hand stretched noodles (as apposed to the thicker knife cut variety), because it seemed like it would go better in the soup. The noodles were very well done and chewy. Great texture to go along with the comforting spicy broth. I also ordered fish and leek dumplings. Great flavor and structure. I took most to go because the two dishes I ordered was a lot of food. I enjoyed the vibe here. While I was eating, there were two ladies preparing dumplings off to the side. It reminded me of my mom and aunt when I visit my parents. So there was a nostalgic factor. Like a lot of other restaurants in the area that I really enjoy, this place feels like a great value for delicious noodles and dumplings because of their great selection and very reasonable prices.

This place needs more credit. I definitely prefer this spot over Noodle express on New and Valley. From the delicious sides and fresh cut noodles, I left thinking what im going to get next time. The sesame noodles are crazyyyyy good. Chewy and toasty, it's a must. Beef rolls are also on point. It has a small parking lot but you can always park on the street. It's rarely busy, so it won't be a problem.

Parking: JYTH is located in a small plaza with limited parking next to Starbucks. Service: The restaurant is family owned and the people are very nice. It takes a while for them to prepare the food since there are not many people on the staff. Interior: The interior looks relatively new. It was not very crowded when I went to pick up my order. It looks like most people order takeout. Food: I got the pan fried bun with pork and pan fried bun with leek. They probably make one of the best pan fried buns in the area. The buns were huge, not too greasy, crispy on the bottom, fluffy inside, and stuffed full of filling. You can order a small portion with six pieces or large with ten. I will definitely be back to try their noodles.

Haven't been to teh restaurant for a long long time and was happy to see their new decor and almost new menu! The server was very friendly and helped us with the order. I was thinking about the moo- shu shrimp and he immediately explained their moo-shu dish doesn't come with the pancake wrap; for me, a moo-shu without pancake is just another stir-fried veggie!! I appreciated him for the reminder! Mom was craving for the stir-fried pancake with veggies, a very home-style dish but hard to find in LA. JTYH's stir-fried pancake was delicious!! A generous portion of mixed veggies and the pancake slices were crispy not soaking in sauces. My thick knive-cut noodle was a bit oily, but still had great flavor! The beef pancake roll has a good balance of sliced beef and lots of scallion, cucumber, and cilantro. We also bought their frozen hand-made dumplings in Fish ($26 for 50 pcs) it was yummy as well. Overall, the restaurant offers great food at a reasonable price. A good local spot worth the support!

    Dumplings in the making

I wouldn't think I would enjoy Chinese food this much as I had been staying in Taiwan half the time in the past 2 years and have all the good Chinese restaurants within reach. Came here mainly to get frozen dumplings and wontons for lazy days when I don't feel want to cook. The exterior of the restaurant is very dated but once inside, it's clean and has more Chinese themed decoration than I had expected. Ordered frozen dumplings and wonton, also ordered few dishes to go, Mooshu fried noodle with knife cut noodles, beef roll and beef/tendon noodle soup with knife cut noodles. The lady took my order was very friendly and told me to sit while waiting Bec knife cut noodle will take a while to "cut". My love for knife cut noodle started when I was maybe in college or high school when there's knife cut noodle shop near NTU. But years later I am without motivation to brace the hot humid weather to go out of my way for food. I tried UberEat once but by the time it got to my hand, the noodles were already soggy. Food was well packed, stewed beef soup and noodles were in separated container, I like seeing how well food was packed to get a idea if someone who made the food sloppy. Everything was delicious and I am truly enjoying the food:) since there's nothing I would like to complain, definitely a 5 stars!

Wow this place exceeded my expectations! My so and I shared everything and we still had extra. For appetizers we got the cucumbers and pig ear. There was a lot for a cold side dish which was great. The pig ear was sliced thicker than the other ones I had. It also had cilantro and red bell peppers that added more flavor to the dish. I would definitely recommend the beef roll here. The cucumber beef and cilantro worked so well together with the outside being perfectly flaky and delicious. You can tell the knife cut noodles were handmade. Perfectly seasoned as you mix in all the ingredients with cucumber egg beef and savory sesame sauce. The lady was super nice and food was delivered pretty quickly. The restaurant was clean and spacious with plenty of parking outside. I would definitely come back to try more dishes!

This is definitely my definition of a "Mom N'Pop" little S-hole in the wall kinda joint! I've been coming here for years since one of my good high-school friends introduced me to this hidden gem. This family owned business has weathered through the economic storms of the past and present. I am grateful that they are still in business and still serving good nothern Chinese/Taiwanese cuisine at a fair price. My two must haves here on the menu is the beef fried dumplings and their house made hand made beef noodle soup with chunks of beed stew and tendon. The flavors are authentic and very tasty. I have tried several other dishes on their menu and they have never disappointed. I will always come back and support this business for as long as they remain open. P.S. Their customer service may not be superb but that's typical of Asian places like these. I come for the good food not the quality of the people serving it.

    Raw veggies and rotten seafood

Ohhh they dont deserve any stars, got 2 fried noodles to go yesterday and the shrimp and fish were rot! Yes rotten as cannot consume! And the vegetables were raw. They should close this place seriously! They most horrible fried noodles ever.

The rice plates are totally good value for money! Very flavourful cuts of meats. Previously we…read moretried their braised beef noodles (#53) and it was so delicious. One of the best braised beef noodle soups in sgv. This time we tried the rice dishes. Braised pork and braised pork elbow. So much food for $16!! Very tender and packed with a lot of flavour. Would definitely order again. Service is good and quick too

My daughter found this restaurant on Yelp because of its high ratings and description of Taiwanese…read morefood. She wanted to try their braised pork rice. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, there were only a few tables. It's a small restaurant. The owner (I think) and waiter were both very welcoming and friendly. They gave us complimentary cups of chicken vegetable broth. We decided to try some items that we regularly order at other restaurants and some new items. Chicken vegetable broth: 5/5 - I thought this was the best dish we had. Very umami broth. Beef burrito appetizer: 3/5 - This is more commonly called a beef roll at most other restaurants. It was okay, they don't fry the wrapping like some other restaurants. Braised pork rice: 3/5 - Good portion size and reasonably priced. The flavors are less Taiwanese and more Shanghai. Braised beef noodle:3/5 - Compared to other beef noodles soups we've had this was just okay. Braised intestine rice noodle: 3.5/5 - they were nice enough to make mine without peppers. I enjoy intestines and wanted to try this dish. The owner suggested I have it with vinegar which I tried and after eating maybe a quarter of the dish I felt nauseous from the vinegar. The vinegar does enhance the dish but at the same time you can only have so much of it without feeling queasy. I would rate this place 3.5 rounded up to 4. Food wise I thought this place was just okay. But I really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and might come back again in the future to try new dishes.
