Please do not go there I ordered the most expensive item they offered costing $13 plus tax and tip hoping it would be enough food . In my entire life and I'm 53 never ever have got such a very very very small amount of food you could not even serve that as a child plate. I told them when I saw the plate this isn't right. They pretty much told me too bad that is your serving size. If you're on a starvation diet go there. I was so unhappy with my experience there. Delighted to find a place close by that served acai bowls, and decided to check it out with a friend after we had a meal at Outerlands. Glad she agreed to indulge in my gluttonous antics. Day 4 being vegan and I was really nervous about losing flavor and overall taste of food as well as being stuck ordering salads when ever I want to go out to eat..... but this place really gives a showcase of how delicious vegan food can actually be. This is a cool little organice juice place I discovered one day on my way to "Other Avenues" a few doors down. Some pretty tasty organic smoothies, but a little on the pricey side. Around 6 bucks for a smoothie. I'm something of a health nut and try to eat organic whenever possible, even though it get a little pricey sometimes. One of those places where vegans have too many delicious sounding choices. After staring at the menu for awhile (the young woman at the register was very understanding) I went for the special, which was a raw dish involving a marinated portobello mushroom cap stuffed with other raw veggies and topped with some cashew cheese and raw crackers. I didn't bother with the juices or smoothies--they sounded nice but I can make such stuff at home for a tiny fraction of the price. I'm intrigued by raw food but probably only end up really liking it about half the time--sometimes my palate thinks a bunch of raw zucchini sounds alright at first only to be disappointed and a bit weighed down. Though I love mushrooms, I was a little skeptical about this dish, especially because you rarely see raw mushrooms and I was wondering how it would taste as well as digest. But the balance of flavors and ingredients was just right, and I enjoyed every bite. Considering I was eating an entire large portobello mushroom, and various labor intensive and somewhat exotic components, the price seemed reasonable. I walked away happy, and if it wasn't completely out of my hood, I would be back. The little chocolate-covered concoctions in the cooler looked particularly tempting. read more

Really stupid business practices. The guy at the counter says, "we're only allowed to make a certain amount of acai bowls a day and because we made our limit we can't sell any more." Me- "if you have the product, can't you just make it for me? Why is there a limit?" Counter guy- "no, they won't let us." Me-"so you have the product and its on the menu but you can't sell it." Counter guy- "they only let us use a certain amount of Acai a day." I walk out shaking my head. Wtf man this is ridiculous. Go elsewhere for your Acai bowls. This place is stupid. Yay for juice! I've been here a couple of times now. I love their veggie juices - great variety and pretty good prices considering the huge mug that they serve it in. The food is also quite good but very pricey, so I just try to stick with the juice. They took the orders of 2/3 of our group and then the person taking orders stopped and went to make people's food. After waiting for 10 mins without ordering and seeing that they were only making 3 smoothies and none of the dairy options I decided not to spend my money for something I didn't really want. I love raw food and as such, had to finally check this place out. The raw menu was small but decent, but I am a tiny bit disappointed by the lack of creativity. Also the cacao covered granola bar was great, but WHY put a non-raw ingredient in such a lovely treat? Hey guys, if you're reading this, why not try almond butter instead of peanut butter?? It will be delicious. The Medicine Man smoothie was AMAZING. Nice job. Hey, FYI you are one of only a FEW places featuring raw and (organic?) food in the city, why not step it up a notch, and maybe stay open for dinner, too? Thanks for doing what you do anyway. Zero stars for the service and three and a half stars for the food averages to two stars. Service: Horrible. Surly wait staff that look and act put out by you being in their presence. I'm repeatedly disappointed with myself that I put up with that to wait 30 minutes for a $12 smoothie in an overly heated cafe with no music playing. Food: I like it enough to make the 30 minute wait and $12 smoothies a repeat occurrence. I'm a big fan of the Superfood smoothie, but haven't liked the others my boyfriend has tried (Velvet, Sunset). The Elixir juice was also a miss, with the main flavors being carrot and beet--hardly a trace of daikon, ginger or garlic. Probably my least favorite version of this juice combo that I've tried. I've tried: Sem sandwich (good flavor and fresh veggies but not much to it), soup (good, again nothing innovative but tasty), Nori roll (I liked it but it's not a lot of food), chocolate cake (delicious), thumbprint cookies (ditto), and pudding (pretty decent--I'm a fan of vegan pudding, which may be a pre-req for this item). Next time, because despite my gripes there will be a next time, I'd get the Sherpa sandwich. Based on eye-humping other diners' plates I think that's the way to go in terms of food. Have only tried the raw items so far and everything has been delicious so far! The only thing I would change is to have everything served in real plates. It's a bit hard to cut items when served in the plastic baskets with parchment paper. read more

Here's the thing, I'm not in any way a vegetarian or vegan inclined person, as I love my meats (minus pork, can't eat the stuff), but I can eat here all the time and give up meat 6 days a week. Well this was a very healthy breakfast....a little too healthy. I have lived in the neighborhood for nine years, and finally my dad and I decided to give this place a shot. I mean they constantly have a line going out the door, so there had to be something good. We each got a smoothie (I forgot the names already), but they were delicious! Very thick, and full of flavor, I will certainly come back for them. Then we each got the what-we-found-out-to-be-famous acai bowl. Now this was something interesting. It tasted like a puree of berries, but I guess it's a puree of acai (which is as healthy as a fruit gets). It is also covered in bananas and granola, which adds some flavor to the acai. And interestingly enough, we got really full of these bowls! I mean we aren't small dudes, and we were pretty stuffed. And I know the meal was healthy, so I will have to come back! My only complaint is that the staff wasn't very friendly, I could even go as far as to say a little rude. Maybe the couple workers were having a rough morning, so I will give it another shot soon. Went back because I was on the coast with a visiting veggie pal. We were pleasantly surprised to not only have people who gave a lil' mo of a f* in the kitchen, but the food was also quite tasty. Food is still on the pricey side and the portions left us with a need to support the grocery co-op next door. All in all, there aren't too many options for raw, veggie joints in SF so... The raw "nekked" burrito is filling and energizing, and the flavors are so bright you'll want to lick the cashew cream sauce right off the plate. It's near my yoga studio and I dropped in just out of curiosity. Now it's a regular weekend spot! I'm not vegetarian or vegan but like the *idea* of it and can really eat anything anyways. I tried one of their raw tacos and smoothie for lunch the first time -both good and just knowing it's waaaay better for you than a real taco or jamba juice I could compromise a little bit on taste anyways. Today, the beloved Acai Bowl and it was sooooo good. It's like eating a heaping healthy dollop of blueberry sorbet with granola for breakfast- heck it could be a dessert! It is hard to make vegan food interesting. They do a decent job. I eat here periodically and appreciate that they exist.
