Kami seafood buffet is right off the 60 Freeway. The parking lot is big and easy to find a spot. Inside, you pay first before getting seated. They have several sections, including a salad and cold bar, sushi/sashimi bar, hot food bar, soup/ dim sum section, and my favorite, a Mongolian noodle section. For dessert, there are several ice cream flavors and pastries to choose from. The Mongolian noodle section is a self-serve bar, you choose what you want and then give it to the Cook to stir fry it for you. The salmon sashimi is not bad, but they cut all the slices and stack them on top of each other. There are also different rolls available. I enjoy their hot and sour soup. For seafood, they have crawfish, fried shrimp, and fried crab claws, although not fresh. Their grilled fish dishes are also good. It's clear that most of the dishes have a Chinese influence to them. Burned the noodles. Waitresses walking around are attentive. However, one of them spilled some soda on my shoe while refilling and walked away without saying anything. :/ Be alert. Kami Buffet & Grill is a bit of an oddball. But with more pluses than minuses, they're a winner in my book. We came here for dinner and found prices to be a bit higher than at a typical Asian buffet. Given this, it was odd that guests were provided with styrofoam plates and plastic utensils to eat with, and our used plates weren't taken away. I suppose this is what happens when you have inflation and a labor shortage. The higher prices were more palatable given that the food here was on the whole better than at similar places. The sashimi at the sushi bar was very fresh, something that's typically not the case at Asian buffets. The pepper beef was excellent, the shrimp and fried rice were good, and the chicken in the chicken and broccoli dish was made well (people seemed to be taking all the chicken and leaving the broccoli). They have shark fin soup here but it had a lot of enoki mushrooms and imitation crab in it. Not sure how much actual shark fin there was, but it was still good. I also helped myself to some clams and found several that were not open (not a good sign), though this might've been because people took the good ones and left the bad ones behind. There's also roast beef, a Mongolian grill, and a passable salad bar. Another oddity is that the signs don't always reflect the food that's actually there. So you learn to take the signs with a grain of salt and go by what the food looks like. Kami also has a decent dessert bar. The ice cream was enjoyable, but the consistency was very hard and it was quite difficult to scoop it out of the tub. Maybe their way of preventing guests from eating a whole tub of ice cream? The price for lunch was $20, but the variety is extremely lacking and everything placed is cold even under heat. Most items tasted old like they prepare everything the night before and left it in the fridge for a week. Service is quick to clean up plates but that might be because they want you out. Disgusting staff at the entrance to the restaurant, my 3-year-old child has a diagnosis and he doesn't eat food there every time we go there. (he has a special diet) I feed him at home before going out. Came here after a funeral. We had a little over 100 guests. Didn't understand why they made a big deal about seating. They didn't have a lot of customers. Food was mid. We wanted to get a couple more tables so people didn't have to pack in, however they didn't allow us. While we were there no one else came to restaurant because we were there at like 2 in the afternoon on a Friday. They didn't even come around to clear used plate often. They were just not nice. I can't stress enough the abundance of seafood dishes they have on their spread. It easily outnumbered all other kinds of protein they were serving. Crab legs were probably their most popular item and it never ran low. Great selections of sashimi included salmon, tuna, yellowtail, mackerel. The never-ending row of sushi. Ditto their desserts. Most buffets have 3 kinds of soup: this place had 6. The salad bar selections were out of bounds as well. Fried items were in in great quantities as well. Sheesh, they even had a teppanyaki station! (I didn't bother with this. There was a long line and only one person doing all the cooking.) FOOD: 5. Quality and quantity. SERVICE: 4.5. It wasn't a lot of interaction, but they were quick with table clean up and drink refills. They were easily accessible given we were with a big party. VALUE: 5. Although it wasn't out of my pocket, $20.99 (weekend) is a bargain! PARKING: Private lot. I got lucky. OVERALL: 4.75. I was stuffed but didn't feel too bad because my plates contained minimal carbs, mostly fresh seafood. Almost perfect. I'm torn on giving it one more star. We came here thinking it was a K-bbq spot. It's not. It's a buffet. It looked classy enough to call it a date so we walked in. It looked huge! The buffet sprawls throughout the ginormous restaurant. Still classy looking. You pay first then walk in and notice the paper plates and Styrofoam cups. The options are similar to most Asian food buffets. They have the tiny egg rolls, French fries, greasy chow mein, shrimp everything. But they did have a nice Sushi bar. They also have a Mongolian BBQ grill, but you need cash to tip the cooks or your food will come out bland. They had a few other rare options like tasty roast beef with Au jue and shark fin soup. This place is so disappointing. The nicer photos are also extremely misleading. They had a small variety in food but because my entire party had about 40 people we were sat in a "private room" in the corner of the restaurant. This room had trash cans, chairs and tables all over the place. Instead of a private room it felt like a forgotten storage room. It had a really musty smell and it was poorly lit. The tables and the utensils were sticky and there were cobwebs and tiny little bugs everywhere. Honestly it made us all kind of sick and it gave me butterflies in a bad way. Not only that there were OBVIOUS spots of mold and mildew. Because of this my family found it really hard to eat anything because we were so paranoid about other areas and hygiene. They use styrofoam plates here instead of reusable plates and plastic utensils. It really felt like the staff/manager/owner here couldn't care less about presentation, clients, or cleanliness. Waitresses needs improvement for their customer service. My friend asked the waitress if she can have fork and a knife. The waitress told her to go to the buffet area to grab it there instead of offering her one. Went here with my bf for dinner before going to the movies on a Tuesday. The buffet was open for dinner, tables were socially distanced and everyone wore plastic gloves when grabbing food. The buffet had a nice selection of sushi, lots of delicious tuna and salmon sashimi and lots of seafood like crawfish, various kinds of shrimp, crab and other Chinese/American dishes. Came here with a group of about 15ish people and were sat outside (COVID protocol). We were seated on plastic lunch tables that are def not big kid friendly. I tried a few of the rolls and they were okay, above gas station sushi quality, but no where near some of the better sushi spots. I also tried some of the Chinese dishes and they were just okay as well. The one dishes that surprisingly stood out the most for me was the cubed beef dish, I don't quite remember the name of it, but it was delish! Location: Located right off the 60 FWY, this location is quite easy to access. It is not too far from the Montebello mall, and there is plenty of parking around it. This place was pretty busy when we came which is usually a good sign as the food turnover is usually higher. For the price you pay it's very fair as they offer a lot of variety and really good food. Our favorite part was the Mongolian bbq which was really good!! Their sushi section was good as well. They were constantly making fresh rolls as it was busy so it was very fresh. Their Chinese food section was pretty good- there was a spicy shrimp dish with tons of shrimp which was one of the best.
