We ordered one to go and she asked how far away we lived because she was concerned that the ice would lose its texture during the drive. We ate the dessert in the car and it was so good. There's just something so comforting about the tea here. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon, no one was at the front, and so we waited a while for the kind lady to come out of the kitchen. She was busy making a massive snow ice. Our wait was just long enough to normally make me annoyed, but for some reason, I wasn't. After lady delivered the gigantor snow ice to a waiting party, she came right back and got right to work on my matcha strawberry latte (with boba, sub w/oat milk). When I saw her make the matcha in a bowl with the little wooden whisk, I knew this was gonna be legit. First sip was pure amazement. There was something about it that was totally unique. For one, the boba was perfectly cooked and still warm. The strawberry syrup was something special. It had a pleasant ever so slightly floral essence like soft white lilies swaying in the wind on a warm spring afternoon in France. Anyway this no frills hole in the wall is well deserving of its 5 star rating. You'd be hard pressed to find another shop with this much quality and love put into each drink. read more

The aunty/ cashier is always friendly and tries her best to get the drinks out as soon as possible. Always polite with a bright smile. The hardest working woman in town! She was essentially running a popular tea shop by herself. There was a line and wait for our drinks but as soon as I took a sip of my HK milk tea, I could see why! The tea tasted strong and you could tell she steeped it with fresh leaves. The drink was not sweet or artificial like other shops so I agree with the other Yelper that said no sweetener adjustment needed. This is coming from a fellow 25% sweetness order adjuster. She can also make things off menu, as my friend wanted just a simple coffee and my HK milk tea was not even on the menu. The others (floral milk tea, roasted hojicha milk tea, matcha, etc) sounded good but I'm a basic traditional milk tea kinda gal. This cute lil cafe is so fricken good!! I can't stop going here! I've been going almost three times in a row (almost because it was closed for one of the days). I got to admit. When I first walked in, I thought they were closed because it was pretty unfurnished. But, I decided to order a drink anyways because the yelpers were raving about this place! Their menu is very limited but all the drinks look super tasty. I've been getting the matcha and rice latte with oat milk and boba. OMG, it's so addictive and good. Everything is freshly made, and you can really taste the quality and care in each drink. It's organic too! The boba is REALLY good. Super soft, well cooked, and not that sweet. I definitely do recommend this place if you're into drinks that have more of the tea and coffee flavor rather than fruit. All the times I've been, it's always the same sweet lady. She seriously runs the show and is holding down the tent. Since it's just her, it's a bit slow but all so worth it! The only thing I'd caution is the price you have to pay. Since it is organic, the price tag will be hefty. Best part is that they're a small business. Found Kamurocho on Yelp and was drawn to its menu offering drinks and shaved ice in traditional Japanese flavors like matcha, hojicha, kinako, toasted rice, and others. I was so pleasantly surprised by how simple the shop is, given the pics of beautiful drinks and shaved ice I saw. As mentioned by several other reviews, turns out this is a one woman shop - so please be patient and understanding even if you end up having to wait a bit! The owner is very kind and attentive with preparing each order. Despite running the whole store alone, she personally brought and served the shaved ice to us at our table and even made sure we're comfortable by putting the blinds down to block the sun. You don't get hospitality like this in many other places! This is not your trendy/aesthetic dessert place, so don't expect that, though I personally love the homey feel of the place. But trust me, the quality of the food/drinks is what you should come here for! I got a matcha shaved ice (kakigori), which also had red bean and pieces of mochi inside, and it was delicious!! I could definitely taste the quality in the ingredients. The shaved ice was so fluffy, milk was perfectly sweet and creamy, and the red bean and mochi were yummy cherry on tops! A small local business that opened during the pandemic in 2020. I been meaning to come since their opening last year and finally paid them a visit today! Like the other reviews, the woman who took my order (I assume the owner) was so patient and gave me recommendations. Not many know this but you can add boba to your drinks! TLDR: The service was phenomenal and I love that there is a place that offers various Japanese tea drinks here in the Tri-Valley so I bumped it up to 5 stars. I got a roasted matcha strawberry and requested it less sweet. I also went with regular milk. The entire drink was very sweet. It tastes like a kid drink filled with syrup. The sweetness was so strong that you could barely even taste the roasted tea. And she had to poke the straw in for me, which made the drink splash. The latte was just ok. I've been wanting to go here for a long time and was intrigued by the fun Asian inspired flavors, but honestly I was pretty underwhelmed. I got the honeycomb latte and my drink barely had any ice with some small pieces of honeycomb candy floating around. It was pretty mediocre taste wise, I really wish I liked it more. Service was fast so maybe I'll have to go back to try other things. I've been here around three times now in the past 2 months and my experience each time is amazing! I usually get the roasted matcha rice latte (my personal favorite!!) since it's not too sweet and it has a strong matcha taste as well as the roasted rice. I also buy the strawberry matcha latte from here for my mom since she really enjoys the drink! Today, I decided to try the honeycomb latte and was afraid that it would be too sweet, but surprisingly it wasn't bad at all. A little sweetness never hurts right!? I really liked the honeycomb latte since the coffee was super smooth and it also comes with little honeycomb(?) pieces that add the perfect amount of crunch. The place is a a bit dark inside but don't be afraid to go in anyways if they're open! The lady who works there is extremely sweet and really welcoming. When I first went, she was really patient with me since I couldn't decide what I wanted. Today she asked if I wanted the coffee to be strong or not before making it and I appreciate that she was accommodating. If you decide you want to change the sweetness or ice, be sure to tell her since I don't think I was ever asked. The drinks itself aren't terribly sweet anyways so I never really change it. (For reference, I usually get around 25% sweetness when I go to tea shops!) the HK style milk tea is also really good and I got it with the boba which was pleasantly chewy! read more

I tasted the strong quality coffee and bits of Honeycombs. And Hojicha flavor was one of the more stronger ones I've tasted in my recent memory.
