The service was good for a crowded restaurant. It was Nadine C who picked the place to celebrate Friendsgiving and a surprise birthday. Donna O for letting us know that Khan had a restaurant week special. Since the special comes with the Skewers in sets of 3 .Our group of 9 decided to Tri off for the special. First to come out was the edamame beans followed by the mushrooms. Next came the fried Chicken Tenders. The Tenders were crisp and tender. my pick for the night. Next up were the Skewers. Service is decent and it gets busy so make a reservation or go early. There's free shave ice at the end too. There's a wooden box on the table where they light a few tea lights under it, which I wasn't sure the purpose... they don't see to keep the food warm is that's what it's intended for...and I thought that was a little odd. Khan Skewer is located on Isenberg St across from Old Stadium Park. Parking is abundant with its own private parking lot. Reservations are preferred as there limited tables and the restaurant is small. The food was delicious and came out at a timely pace. Standout dishes were the beef skewers, the garlic eggplant, and the gizzard skewers. Service was attentive even though it was a busy Saturday. This was my first time trying Chinese bbq/skewers. The food was good but not my favorite. I don't think I'm a huge fan of their spice rub but the type of skewers we got were moist and tender! We got mostly beef tongue and pork belly skewers and some appetizers. I tried my friend's century egg with tofu salad and that was surprisingly tasty! I liked how creamy the egg was and it went nicely with the tofu and the sauce had a nice kick to it. We also got the fried calamari and scallop with vermicelli and those were ok. The green onion pancake was tasty. Dessert was included and we chose the chocolate flavor for the snow ice and that was pretty good! It was a nice way to end our meal. The restaurant itself isn't too big and we had to wait a bit for a table. But as we sat down the service was quick and efficient most of the time. Wow amazing! Everything tasted soooo good. Flavorful, tender, juicy. If you love the taste of cumin like me, you're gonna love it here! Chinese bbq is one of my favs type of izakaya / bbq style because I just love the bold flavor. This place knows how to cook it. Nothing was chewy or overcooked or over seasoned! My top choices are the beef tongue, lamb, king mushroom, chicken gizzard and heart. Also try their seafood too! Abalone, scallops and oysters. Fresh and yummy! Their complimentary shave ice was delicious too! The ice was soft and the honeydew and brown sugar flavor both tasted good. Raising the rating from 3 to 4. I went again today and the odd smell that i smelt last time is gone. The service could have been better (was desperately wanting water but it was hard to flag someone down). The music was fine and TV screens entertaining. This time the dessert was brown sugar, which was quite good! I tried the glucose skewer, which was weird. I also thought the tofu curd and cilantro was too strong. And if you love the fermented duck egg get the thousand year old egg and tofu. We love the north Chinese style cumin spice mix that is on majority of their meats. This place has quickly become one of my top favorite restaurants on the island. The meats, the flavors, the variety of menu items... the service!!! My boyfriend surprised me on Valentine's Day 2025 with reservations here, and prior to that date night, I'd never heard of the restaurant or tried Mongolian food, or a skewer kind of restaurant! It was such a memorable experience with the sweetest girl as our server (I never got her name!) and trying all kinds of foods. Surprisingly, my favorite was the Maui venison, and I also really loved the pork intestine. I really like how they allow you to choose if you want your food mild or spiced, and serve the spices in the side if you prefer mild. This works great as my boyfriend cannot handle spicy food too well, but I love it! The meal ended with the most amazing dessert - the softest shaved ice of my life, drizzled with sweetened condensed milk and your choice of fruit puree (between peach and lilikoi, we choice lilikoi), and topped off with Frosted Flakes??!!!! Absolute insanity and so so freaking good. I'd come by just for that dessert, easily! Since that Valentine's date, we've come back 3 more times and I daydream about it constantly. Eat experience is 10/10. The service is incredible and the food alwaysssss slaps. After years of driving by this restaurant, my wife and I finally stopped in for dinner. And boy am I glad we did. There's a lot of options on the menu and the skewer format allows you to easily share with others. We decided to order the green onion pancake, dried bean curd with cilantro, salt and pepper corn, beef tongue and pork belly skewers, and fried pork. Everything was quite tasty with the different seasonings and Thai chili pineapple sauce which is delicious. The service, food and atmosphere here were great. And to our surprise, all meals come with a complimentary fluffy ice dessert. We got the lychee which was the perfect ending. We learned that you can bring your own booze too for a $25 per table corkage fee. And love the fact that they have tons of free parking. Check them out the next time you're in the University area. Have dined here twice. Once for restaurant week and another time on a Thursday evening after 9pm for happy hour deal. Both times the staff was attentive with water refills and quick to take orders. I will note that if you come after 9pm for happy hour deals on food or drink, you get 10% off your order. Being one of the few places that stays open late in this part of town it can get busy. Food comes quickly and is well seasoned and good flavors. Favorites are Maui venison , lamb and beef skewers. The eggplant is beautifully seasoned with nice kick of spices. Mushroom soup dish is also very good. Restrooms are accessed outside via key. Parking in front and back and is well lit. There is a gate and fence as well to provide some space between the sidewalk/street and lot. There are several tvs showing various Chinese travel or cooking shows as well which are fun to watch while you wait for your food. The meats are fantastic, they cook them for you, put them on a warming plate in the middle of your table, and you can add their spicy powder to make it more spicy or apple sauce-like dipping sauce to cut the spiciness. I liked the pork belly, sausage and beef skewers the best. But they were all really tasty. WATCH THE SPICE LEVEL! Easy spicy was little too spicy for us so the next round we did no spicy. It was perfect for us without the spice. GET THE OTHER STUFF TOO Don't pass on the vegetables, the corn ribs are SOOOO GOOD, and the zucchini was perfect too. The scallop vermicelli was also really good. The drinks are instagrammable and come in the best looking dispenser. They have non alcoholic ones and they can add soju if you want alcohol. We got a variety of skewers, and our favorites were the lamb, chicken gizzard, cartilage, and chicken skin. We also got the venison and pork with enoki and found both a bit chewy/difficult to eat. The king oyster mushroom skewer was a bit bland. We also ordered the garlic Chinese baby cabbage, which was tasty but a bit expensive at $9 for what it is. We also tried their eggplant, which was good but not great - it wasn't too oily but also could have been more flavorful. Service was super prompt, attentive, and friendly. Despite the restaurant being absolutely packed when we went, our server constantly checked on us and would circle back with clarifications on the skewers. You also get a free shave ice dessert as part of the meal. We opted for chocolate, and the shave ice was actually quite good. The ice is flavored, and the toppings were tasty. In the spot that used to be Agu and Papa Kurt's, Khan Skewers is a new spot that is usually busy on every table. All skewers and dishes come as no spice, mild, or spicy. Everything we ordered we tried as mild. What follows is below: Onion Pancake: 7/10. It's quite tasty and fresh. Nice crispy outside and easy to eat. It's a shame there were only 4 to the order. Clams with Vermicelli: 9/10. The portion was very generous, had a nice flavor, and the clams were nicely cooked. This is a great value overall. Also, it helped with the spiciness of some of the skewers. Venison Skewers: 6/10. I tend to like the gamey Venison taste overall. I am not sure if it was the spice or preparation, but it did not have any of the gamey flavor and just seemed like a firmer cut of a different meat. Good for if you want to try Venison for the first time and not be overwhelmed by the gamey flavor. Yellow Yofu: 4/10. Personally, it was not my favorite dish. The other guests that ate it enjoyed it, so it wasn't like it was bad or anything. The tofu is cooked nicely, and the mild spice was a bit strong for my preference. Fried Calamari: 7/10 Interesting take on the traditional fried Calamari. It was crispy with a small layer of spice on top. The preparation was interesting and worth trying. Bacon wrapped Enoki Mushrooms: 9/10. It's my favorite skewer of the night. They were grilled nicely, and the mild spice packed a little punch with each bite. It is a great mix of savory and spicy to go with the mushrooms. Peach Shaved Ice: 9/10. Our mouths were burning from the spiciness of the whole dinner. This shaved ice was a nice reprieve from the burning sensation and had a nice flavor as well. They offer 1 per table, so be quick and eat your fill before your friends do. We all chose their pre fixed menu that serves 2 to 3 people. The service is consistently great -- the staff know their stuff and really take pride in what they do. The vibe is always great -- casual and relaxed, perfect for a laid-back night out. They open at 6 but are open late! It's definitely recommended to make a reservation on weekends since they stay busy! Khan has become our go-to spot whenever we want to treat ourselves. The food is always full of flavor and cooked just right, every time. The menu has so many great options, and while we definitely have our favorite skewers, the prices make it easy (and fun) to try new dishes we've never had before. 1st time here and it's not for me. Difficult parking situation. Made a reservation which I'm glad I did. Place was packed. Seated and was given 2 menus. One with food the other with drinks. Server lit the candles that were in a box with a metal tray used to keep the skewers warm. Server also brought out 2 different types of dipping items. 1 was a pineapple sauce, the other was a chili powder. He mumbled something trying to explain what it was. Honestly the place was so small and SO loud! You can barely hold a conversation. Ordered the basics since other items were a bit too funky for me. Pork belly, beef, oysters, garlic clams with vermicelli, chicken wings and rice. Skewers can be ordered in 3's or 5's per order. Could not wait to try them! Out came the skewers and it was a bit underwhelming. Portions small. Tried the pork belly and beef, dipped it in the provided sauces and it was ok. No flavor. Meat they used were sub par. Fatty, chewy not good. What was good was the clams and oysters. It was so busy service was eh. There was a table that was seated before we left that was obnoxiously loud. I don't get her swearing in such a tight space which also had children dining. Sadly after paying $90 I felt it was the worst experience I've had. This place was amazing! Came here on a weeknight after doing the Manoa Trail hike. I would imagine normally the parking wouldn't be an issue, since they have a small lot in front and more parking in the back, but the building also has what looks like to be a community space, and there was an event going on, so we had to park elsewhere. We ordered a bunch of skewers, and they were all well done. I do wish that there's mor variety of spices on the meat, because it's all fairly cumin forward, but that's just a minor thing. They bring you a warming plate to keep your food warm as you eat. The table also gets a free dessert, which was the lightest fluffiest creamy snow dessert. The skewers came cooked and you just keep them on the hot plate to keep warm, which is nice cause you won't be stinking like how you would be after kbbq. But as we ate each skewer, regardless of whether it was a meat or veggie skewer, we noticed that they used the same spices on pretty much everything. Got a bit boring after a while. We ordered from a variety of lamb, beef, pork, and chicken (wing) skewers. Got to have rice too...it was sooooo good (lamb #1 by far). Scallops are a bit small. Don't be deceived by the noodles on top or pics. IMO, not worth the price. Oysters were vvvvv yummi. The staff worked very efficiently and were extremely quick to flip tables. They made a 'mistake' on our desert and gave it to us as a complimentary. The manager outside did a great job tonight.
