Just ordered the yellow curry with chicken. It was just as watery as the soup that we also ordered. Very disappointed.

Absolutely delicious! The owner was very kind and explained the menu beautifully. He also helped us achieve a spice level that we would be comfortable with, so whether you like spicy or not, they have something for you! I had their house curry and it was to die for. We also had the fried crab ball (not the real name) appetizer that was delicious; it had a sweet and spicy sauce that complimented it wonderfully. More like 2.5 stars but rounded up. My friends and I took the long trek here specifically for the khao soi. For a Saturday night, there was no wait, but they had a steady flow of traffic. Service was good, very friendly, but food took so long to receive. There was a wait in between the few appetizers we got, as well as our main entrees, but they seemed apologetic. Thai sausage: reminds me of the sour pork (nem) but with bits of rice in it. This was alright but not memorable. Shrimp balls: was a favorite of the group, crispy outside and shrimp center. Came with a sweet and sour sauce. Beef larb: Also forgettable.. We got it medium spicy, but barely had any spice, came with lettuce and cabbage wraps. It was a bit sweet on our palate so we added more lime and thai chilis to spruce it up. Crab fried rice: This was probably the best entree of all the ones we ordered. Good amount of crab and flavorful. Crab khao soi: I was going to order it spicy but our server psyched us out a bit. She said their medium was spicy and their spicy was very spicy, so our entire table ended up ordering medium for our dishes. To be honest, it wasn't nearly as spicy as it was made out to be, so I added extra fresh thai chilis. The curry soup itself was a bit heavier than what I'm used to, and again, a bit too sweet on the palate and made it overbearing. I wasn't able to finish the bowl. Good amount of crab, but the texture of the crab meat was too mushy. Check-in for free thai tea, only one per table. At the end of night, I assume the owner came to check up on us and even offered refills for our teas. Preface: Food outweighed my overall experience... I love Thai food and this is very good Thai food! Kinda tucked away but worth the trip. We got there fairly close to closing time and they kinda didn't make us feel as welcomed as we would have liked as we were there before they closed. Best Thai food in LA and you could make an argument that it's the best Asian cuisine in the city. Had the fried wontons to start followed by the Khao soi with crispy pork and the pad Thai with veggies. All of it was on point. We saw good reviews and decided to try out. Disappointed . I have been to many thai restaurants but this place skim on the food . I had duck curry. Not even a piece of of duck meat, shredded thin skins and some meat, pineapple and watery curry. Flavor is good but way too selfish in food amount. The curry is $11.95 and plus $2 for a bowl of rice . Most thai restaurants, entree come with rice. Pineapple rice come with more rice than ingredients. DIS-GUST-ING Seriously I could have just gone to Ralph's frozen food department and get the same thing. Yelp let me down on this one. The reviews drew me to Khao Soi and I am writing this review to make sure you do not make the same mistake my wife and I made. Its like eating Thai food in the Disney district of Orlando, Florida with a bunch of people in town to see the mouse from Nebraska. We are throwing it away as I write this so we do not torture ourselves anymore. THE ENTIRE MEAL WAS FLAVORLESS! Any flavor we did experience were not the flavors we are use to from MOST of the Thai restaurants in the area. The egg rolls were mushy, the Pad Thai tasted like asian spaghetti with a ketchup sauce, the shrimp had flavor sure as in frozen shrimp that taste fishy because its not fresh, and the spicy egg plant was spicy but there was no flavor besides that spice in the sauce. The best part of the meal was the brown rice. Where was the fresh basil, where is the peanut sauce, why does the chicken taste like frozen chicken from a diner, how old are those shrimp, and why was the egg plant sauce all watery? Serious WTF Yelpers. How can anyone think this place is any good when there are so many places like Summer Canteen, Rustic Spoon, and Soo Rah Thai in the area that understand how Thai food should taste. This is my favorite Thai food restaurant! Food is always fresh and delicious! Everything I've ordered has been mouth watering. The crab fried rice is on point and so are all of the noodle dishes! I love that you can order things as spicy as you want and I get my food "Thai spicy" which is very very spicy! The soups are yummy too! Ordered my favorite Thai dish (garlic pepper chicken) & it was pretty good. I rather have the dish served with shredded lettuce, but it was good with the white rice too. I wish it had more garlic flavor because i love garlic, but i would rank it on my top 3 from all the Thai places ive tried in the past. Placed a pickup order on DoorDash & it said it'd be ready in 10 minutes. Got there & there were 5 or 6 people standing there waiting for their orders while the woman working the desk (I think the owner who's older) flat out ignored everyone. Waiting there for 30 min.
