Catered delivery! Friendly service. Delicious food. The presentation of the summer rolls were pretty and included labels for the variety.

    Too Good To Go

I got a Too Good To Go meal at Koja Kitchen on Friday night , March 28, 2025. Total cost including tax was a little over $6 which would make this a great deal. Keep reading. In it, there was fried rice, French fries, some spring mix salad, some chicken pieces, and if you look at my photos, there's HALF a shredded Egg Roll. It's not a clean cut half egg roll. It's shredded in half! I took photos of both sides of the half shredded eggroll. The other half was NOT in this container box. I'm like... what??? I don't know why the eggroll wasn't CUT in half. Because seeing a half shredded egg roll to me, looks like someone took a bite of the egg roll, and didn't want the other half. Nasty. This may not be the case, it just looks like that. I rather get the eggroll that's a full eggroll or I rather they didn't include this half eggroll that looks like someone took a bite from it. I'm a germaphobe and I decided to not eat the box because of that half shredded egg roll. I really home that wasn't someone's discarded eggroll and Koja Kitchen decided to place it in my Too Good To Go order. I rather not have that eggroll at all to begin with.

    Short Rib KoJa (w/ pineapple)

I found out of Koja kitchen through their excellent food trucks. I'm a huge fan of the unique rice buns and how it can create a "burger" and yet be its own thing. My short rib with pineapple was juicy but wasn't overly saucy. I've been enjoying this yummy place for quite sometime and I highly recommend both the short rib AND the teriyaki zen.

Perfect place for a delicious lunch, quick take out etc. Small space with limited seating in and out but the food makes it all worthwhile. Japanese/ Korean Asian fusion with super fresh ingredients, friendly staff and prompt service. We had Ahi tuna bowls that were delicious, fresh ingredients, nicely sauced, including seaweed salad and a crazy good imitation crab salad. Nice that they offer both brown and white rice.

First time since they moved to this location. I went with the Ahi Tuna Salad - mixed greens topped with crab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, and spicy ahi. Everything tasted pretty fresh and it was quite filling.

Signage of KoJa Kitchen & the Yellow awning of Little Vietnam Cafe!
    Russell H.

While strolling through the Inner Richmond District of San Francisco on Clement Street...tucked away on 6th Avenue I came upon an awning in Bright Yellow that had "Little Vietnam Cafe" scripted on it...and then if you look up you too will see a sign for "Kojo Kitchen"...with a little bit of searching I discovered that both of these establishments are swished together in one kitchen...(talk about smart business practices). Anyhow I was thinking about ordering some Vietnamese cuisine but I was diverted to the KoJa Kitchen menu...I asked the friendly guy behind the cash register what he liked and he asked me which menu...I replied with KoJa Kitchen...I then asked what dish he would recommend for my first order and he replied try the "Beef Bowl"...I said lets go for it and along with that I ordered their Strawberry Mango Mint Lemonade. When my order arrived (quick I might add) I was pleased with their Beef Bowl which I ordered with Brown Rice but along with that it came with just the right amount of Kim Chee, the Beef was marinated with a sprinkling of Sesame Seed, and finally Salad greens...I would call this dish a well balanced meal!!! The Lemonade was a bit sweet but it went well with my meal. So to sum up my experience with KoJa Kitchen they deserve a 5 Star Rating. I sat inside and ate my meal on their counter facing 6th Avenue. There is seating outside but it was a bit chilly..."Karl decided to show up but he is a huge welcome because of the HOT Spell weather we just experienced"!!!

Umami Fries, Short Rib Koja, Ahi Tuna Bowl, Short Rib Bowl, Beef Koja
    Sarah L.

Delicious fusion food! My favorite was the Umami Fries; probably the best fries I've ever had. The Koja was dry and not my cup of tea; the garlic rice was hard to eat. I still think the Kojas are worth a try though! The bowls were very delicious. I would totally come here again just for the Umami Fries; the pork on it was to die for. The ordering process was a little confusing as I didn't know we had to go the cashier to order, but it wasn't difficult to figure out. Solid restaurant!

The coconut braised pork koja. Like the filling.

Recently had lunch here. We dined in. Special note: As of right now, 9/7/2021, you will need to show your vax card to eat inside all restaurants in San Francisco, including the semi-outdoor areas. If it's outside dining, no need to show proof of vax. Back to regular review: We had the short rib bowl and Kamikaze (bbq beef) bowl. Both tasted too sweet. My Hb thought his special menu order of the Kamikaze bowl was overrated. It's too sweet, too much sauce, nothing really special about it according to him. I didn't eat his bowl, but I feel the same about my bowl--way too sweet. Like they used too much sugar to compensate for flavor. I used to really like Koja, so this is really disappointing.

    Umami Fries

Koja Kitchen is a great stop for some asian fusion snacks! They have things on their menu like rice burgers, bowls, and tacos. My order was the Umami Fries which includes Crisscut waffle fries, miso-coconut braised pork, red sauce, garlic aioli, green onions, masago, fried onions. The flavors were perfect enough to satisfy my comfort food needs. The pork was soft, but did have a couple of fatty piecesin there (not for me, but good if you like that). Ordering is walk up, and they have cups of water available. Napkins and ketchup and a bit in the back near the soda machine. It didn't seem like there was indoor dining but their outdoor seating is nice, more of like a patio situation. Overall, a good place to stop by for a bite if you're craving for some unique food in the area.

I've been to this Koja Kitchen as well as their other locations and food truck for awhile now, so this review is long overdue. We always get the kamikaze fries no matter the location. It's the right amount of spice, meat, sauce, and fries. They're always consistent no matter the location so that's a huge plus. This time around, my husband and I both got the ahi tuna bowl along with our fries. We both found the bowl to be delicious and very filling. Since there are not many poké places around the Richmond district, it's nice to have this dish to fulfill that craving. In the past, we've had their kojas and tacos as well. All were really good. This location and its staff are usually really chill. If you get it to -go at an off hour, expect your food to be ready in 5-10 minutes. During high peak times, they usually take an average of 15 minutes.

    Camille L.

My partner swears by KoJa but I really preferred it as a good truck. It was cheaper, more efficient, and packed more of a punch. While I see people of the neighborhood line up to eat here, I just found it to be okay. The fries didn't blow my mind, the Bulgogi was dry in my opinion, and was just so much fusion and not enough traditional for my preference.

The food was good, although it wasn't quite as memorable as it used to be. The spicy boneless chicken was crispy, juicy, and flavorful, but there was absolutely no spice. I'd rate it 4/5 because if you order something labeled "spicy," you expect at least a little heat! The pork buns were decent. The pork and fresh cucumbers were delicious, but the bun itself was a little leathery. The biggest disappointment was the house hot sake. It tasted different than I remembered, and after pouring our second round, we poured out a fruit fly that had been inside the bottle. That definitely ended our sake for the night. I hope the restaurant inspects bottles before serving them, as that's something that can easily ruin an otherwise enjoyable meal. Despite those issues, the outstanding service is what earned this visit five stars. With a little more spice in the spicy chicken and better quality control on the sake, it'll be easy to make an already good restaurant even better. We'll definitely be back.

They had a cute neon light with their name. We got a couple appetizers, which included the pan fried dumplings and tteokbokki. I ordered the Spicy Japchae for my main dish. They brought the banchan out pretty quickly, which we all devoured in seconds because we were so hungry. Then our main dishes started coming out of the kitchen. My spicy japchae was just the right amount of heat. Spicy enough to still be enjoyable. While eating our main dishes the pan fried dumplings came out, which was odd since we ordered it as an appetizer. And the tteokbokki we had ordered, never was added to our order by our waiter. After being told that by another waiter, we just decided to cancel it. The meal was pretty filling without feeling too heavy. Overall, it was decent.

Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.

We started with the escargot and milk bread, which was incredibly garlicky in the best way. The escargot itself had an almost mushroom-like texture, with subtle Asian influences, though it also reminded us of classic American garlic butter. Regardless, it was delicious and a great way to start the meal. The kumquat highball was probably our favorite drink of the night--refreshing, balanced, and full of bright citrus flavor. The oolong tea was good, although we've had better elsewhere. The Xinjiang lamb skewer was an interesting interpretation, almost like a flavorful meatball rather than a traditional skewer, but it worked well. Our favorite dish was the claypot rice with Chinese sausage and bacon. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor, and the combination of smoky, savory, and crispy textures made it an absolute standout. The special of the day, fried sole with fermented mustard greens, was also memorable. The fish itself was excellent, but the dish had two distinct personalities. The side coated in the sauce had deep, savory flavors that felt unmistakably Asian, while the top with the mustard greens had a surprisingly Western character--we even thought we detected dill. It was an unusual contrast, but an interesting one. The dessert was also an interesting take on the mango pudding - strawberry sorbet was a nice addition with the mango pudding with almond flakes and real strawberries. Overall, Four Kings delivers creative, memorable food in a vibrant setting. We had reservations at 6:30pm via Resy. *Seoul Crudo limited quantity per day *contains raw fish: hamachi crudo drizzled with sesame oil, beet, seasonal citrus (yuzu luxe and mandarin) cho-gochujang (gochujang vinaigrette), and topped with fresh mircogreens (cilantro, wasabi, spring onions) $25 This was one of my favorites! Wagyu Beef Tartare (YUKHOE): seaweed mayo aioli, fried scallion, grana padano, housemade potato chip $24 I would prefer it to be more chopped up. This was a miss for the whole table Perilla Oil Noodle *contains buckwheat: buckwheat noodle, roasted seaweed crumble, perilla oil, perilla leaves $19 Highly recommend Korean Popcorn KFC: kfc comes with yang' yum' sauce & housemade soy vin pickles $23 I enjoyed the soy vin pickles! Rigatoni Alla Kimchi Vodka: not-too-spicy rigatoni vodka with washed kimchi, bacon & cheese (add burrata +4) (can be made without bacon) $23 This was really good and flavorful! Pork Jowl Jeyuk (allow 20-30 mins to cook) : marinated in gochujang for 24 hours, slow grilled over charcoal, with salsa verde and tomato ssamjang Would definitely get this again with the ssam and they timed it perfectly where it didn't seemed long before they brought it out Injeolmi Banana Pana Cotta *contains soybean K-pana cotta with soybean, banana cream, sugar, eggs, gelatin $12 This was so good that we each bought one individually to go Makgeolli Flight $40

They recommended 2-3 dishes per person, we got 4 savory dishes and 1 dessert. Tteokbokki: spicy and sweet and a good staple, the rice cake was nice and chewy but honestly nothing crazy and a bit expensive so I wouldn't get this again I feel like I could get more umami ones from somewhere else. Perilla Oil Noodles: people might think this is boring but I actually loved it, very simple flavors, and it really brought out the nutty flavors of both the perilla leaf oil and the soba. Crudo: This was probably one of my favorites, very refreshing and the sauce was a slightly tangy, spicy and sweet korean sauce that's also very unique. It's not the typical just gochujang flavor but had more depth and I loved it. Pork Jowl: Okay this was ACTUALLY my favorite one. The pork jowl has the perfect chew and bite to it and wrapped in perilla leaf and lettuce, they also had 2 sauces that were very flavorful. Even this one is pretty unique. Banana bread panna cotta: Lovely light dessert that was strong banana flavor with some rice crumbles on top! Overall this is a great place for a social dinner I'd come back again!
