    Assorted Summer rolls

Catered delivery! Friendly service. Delicious food. The presentation of the summer rolls were pretty and included labels for the variety.

    Too Good To Go

I got a Too Good To Go meal at Koja Kitchen on Friday night , March 28, 2025. Total cost including tax was a little over $6 which would make this a great deal. Keep reading. In it, there was fried rice, French fries, some spring mix salad, some chicken pieces, and if you look at my photos, there's HALF a shredded Egg Roll. It's not a clean cut half egg roll. It's shredded in half! I took photos of both sides of the half shredded eggroll. The other half was NOT in this container box. I'm like... what??? I don't know why the eggroll wasn't CUT in half. Because seeing a half shredded egg roll to me, looks like someone took a bite of the egg roll, and didn't want the other half. Nasty. This may not be the case, it just looks like that. I rather get the eggroll that's a full eggroll or I rather they didn't include this half eggroll that looks like someone took a bite from it. I'm a germaphobe and I decided to not eat the box because of that half shredded egg roll. I really home that wasn't someone's discarded eggroll and Koja Kitchen decided to place it in my Too Good To Go order. I rather not have that eggroll at all to begin with.

    Short Rib KoJa (w/ pineapple)

I found out of Koja kitchen through their excellent food trucks. I'm a huge fan of the unique rice buns and how it can create a "burger" and yet be its own thing. My short rib with pineapple was juicy but wasn't overly saucy. I've been enjoying this yummy place for quite sometime and I highly recommend both the short rib AND the teriyaki zen.

Perfect place for a delicious lunch, quick take out etc. Small space with limited seating in and out but the food makes it all worthwhile. Japanese/ Korean Asian fusion with super fresh ingredients, friendly staff and prompt service. We had Ahi tuna bowls that were delicious, fresh ingredients, nicely sauced, including seaweed salad and a crazy good imitation crab salad. Nice that they offer both brown and white rice.

First time since they moved to this location. I went with the Ahi Tuna Salad - mixed greens topped with crab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, and spicy ahi. Everything tasted pretty fresh and it was quite filling.

Signage of KoJa Kitchen & the Yellow awning of Little Vietnam Cafe!
    Russell H.

While strolling through the Inner Richmond District of San Francisco on Clement Street...tucked away on 6th Avenue I came upon an awning in Bright Yellow that had "Little Vietnam Cafe" scripted on it...and then if you look up you too will see a sign for "Kojo Kitchen"...with a little bit of searching I discovered that both of these establishments are swished together in one kitchen...(talk about smart business practices). Anyhow I was thinking about ordering some Vietnamese cuisine but I was diverted to the KoJa Kitchen menu...I asked the friendly guy behind the cash register what he liked and he asked me which menu...I replied with KoJa Kitchen...I then asked what dish he would recommend for my first order and he replied try the "Beef Bowl"...I said lets go for it and along with that I ordered their Strawberry Mango Mint Lemonade. When my order arrived (quick I might add) I was pleased with their Beef Bowl which I ordered with Brown Rice but along with that it came with just the right amount of Kim Chee, the Beef was marinated with a sprinkling of Sesame Seed, and finally Salad greens...I would call this dish a well balanced meal!!! The Lemonade was a bit sweet but it went well with my meal. So to sum up my experience with KoJa Kitchen they deserve a 5 Star Rating. I sat inside and ate my meal on their counter facing 6th Avenue. There is seating outside but it was a bit chilly..."Karl decided to show up but he is a huge welcome because of the HOT Spell weather we just experienced"!!!

Umami Fries, Short Rib Koja, Ahi Tuna Bowl, Short Rib Bowl, Beef Koja
    Sarah L.

Delicious fusion food! My favorite was the Umami Fries; probably the best fries I've ever had. The Koja was dry and not my cup of tea; the garlic rice was hard to eat. I still think the Kojas are worth a try though! The bowls were very delicious. I would totally come here again just for the Umami Fries; the pork on it was to die for. The ordering process was a little confusing as I didn't know we had to go the cashier to order, but it wasn't difficult to figure out. Solid restaurant!

The coconut braised pork koja. Like the filling.

Recently had lunch here. We dined in. Special note: As of right now, 9/7/2021, you will need to show your vax card to eat inside all restaurants in San Francisco, including the semi-outdoor areas. If it's outside dining, no need to show proof of vax. Back to regular review: We had the short rib bowl and Kamikaze (bbq beef) bowl. Both tasted too sweet. My Hb thought his special menu order of the Kamikaze bowl was overrated. It's too sweet, too much sauce, nothing really special about it according to him. I didn't eat his bowl, but I feel the same about my bowl--way too sweet. Like they used too much sugar to compensate for flavor. I used to really like Koja, so this is really disappointing.

    Umami Fries
    Cheri L.

Koja Kitchen is a great stop for some asian fusion snacks! They have things on their menu like rice burgers, bowls, and tacos. My order was the Umami Fries which includes Crisscut waffle fries, miso-coconut braised pork, red sauce, garlic aioli, green onions, masago, fried onions. The flavors were perfect enough to satisfy my comfort food needs. The pork was soft, but did have a couple of fatty piecesin there (not for me, but good if you like that). Ordering is walk up, and they have cups of water available. Napkins and ketchup and a bit in the back near the soda machine. It didn't seem like there was indoor dining but their outdoor seating is nice, more of like a patio situation. Overall, a good place to stop by for a bite if you're craving for some unique food in the area.

    Ahi tuna bowl w/white rice

I've been to this Koja Kitchen as well as their other locations and food truck for awhile now, so this review is long overdue. We always get the kamikaze fries no matter the location. It's the right amount of spice, meat, sauce, and fries. They're always consistent no matter the location so that's a huge plus. This time around, my husband and I both got the ahi tuna bowl along with our fries. We both found the bowl to be delicious and very filling. Since there are not many poké places around the Richmond district, it's nice to have this dish to fulfill that craving. In the past, we've had their kojas and tacos as well. All were really good. This location and its staff are usually really chill. If you get it to -go at an off hour, expect your food to be ready in 5-10 minutes. During high peak times, they usually take an average of 15 minutes.

    Camille L.

My partner swears by KoJa but I really preferred it as a good truck. It was cheaper, more efficient, and packed more of a punch. While I see people of the neighborhood line up to eat here, I just found it to be okay. The fries didn't blow my mind, the Bulgogi was dry in my opinion, and was just so much fusion and not enough traditional for my preference.

Quality/Quantity - We had a large group, thank you for accommodating. I believe we made reservations, where we would not be seated until everyone showed up. Good thing the group all showed up on time (for once, lol). Ordered the following for our table, our other table had our larger half of the group. But due to the door mishap, I did not want to walk over to take pictures of their food/order. Okonomiyaki Fries - Was too soggy for me, but everyone else on our table enjoyed it. Popcorn Salmon - I did not enjoy this, but everyone else on both tables loved it, so it was "a me problem." Boneless Fried Chicken - I enjoyed it, but no one else did?!?! I guess I have very different tastes from this group...? Tonkatsu Ramen - Good. But very basic. Beef Short Rib Plate - Three orders, both people enjoyed it. Actually, our young eater ate 1.5 of this plate, 1/2 from his mom's order. This order also came with a side salad and steamed rice. Bulgogi Plate - I can't remember if I got my rice?!?! Well, the beef was of decent quantity, I actually brought a little back home for leftovers, with the boneless fried chicken. At home, it was a little too salty, too much soy sauce. Sizzling Bibimbap - My daughter's dish which was also good. I believe she had leftovers. Our other table got the regular bibimbap, they said next time they will try the sizzling as they felt that was better. Lastly, our guest on the other table ordered one of each dessert for both tables. Mango Panna Cotta & Chocolate Tartufo - I am not a chocolate person, but enjoyed the Tartufo better. Our guest wanted Soju! The first time, so we ended up ordering two hot larges. Smooth and went down too easily. I then finished my meal with a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. Boy I miss this beer, I have not had in a while. Too busy supporting local breweries. Overall, the food was just okay for me and my daughter. Ambiance - Outside looks good, and new. Love the menus and the happy hour information. Might come back for HH. Small local restaurant. A few tables and bar seating. Clean restrooms, two unisex. Street metered parking, free after 6pm. Plenty of street parking. Service - Okay, the front door has issues... It stays open, then does NOT close. It is slanted, so you have to "force" it to close. When we ALL got here, I guess we left the front door open by accident. Well, the waitress did NOT appreciate that (I stayed outside taking my Yelp pictures while everyone else walked in). She gave me a LOOK... While I was still outside, more people came in and I tried to close the door for them and because the door is slanted, it did not close and had to be "forced" resulting in a slam, sorry. Got another look... After that, I went straight to my seat. Menus on the table. Price - Expensive, or did we order too much? I think our bill with tax and tip came out to almost $800. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2017; look forward to trying your happy hour.

Everything -- from food to service, to ambience -- was EXCELLENT through and through. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a wait staff immediately. We were seated at a bar height table as requested. And throughout the evening, the wait staff was helpful, courteous and attentive. They did not miss a beat in offering us water refill, checking on us, or changing our plates. Excellent service!! Between the three of us, we offered a variety of appetizer and dishes; what stands out is the quality of their ingredients, and the sophistication and perfection in their usage of spices, creating excellent and balanced flavors. * Spring Roll wrap - A must order dish. Perfectly fried spring roll with lettuce wrap and spiced dipping sauce. Excellent! * Clay Pot rice - I really like the clay pot rice here. They use Chinese sausage and the flavorful pork neck meat, over fragrant jasmine rice.. it was cooked for perfection and packed with flavors. Note, their clay pot rice does not come with crispy rice bottom, but just ask if you want it. ;) * Beef Tartare- excellent flavor and soft fresh beef tartare... so good! * Blue Shrimp Ceviche - another dish that highlights their culinary expertise. Sashimi- grade blue shrimp in their special sauce.. well balanced flavor and just perfect! * A highlight was definitely their sake and cocktail list... they have plenty of good drinks here. My default is their Lychee Drink and the blue bottle sake. Always a good choice and Le Soleil offers the perfect setting for great friends to gather and have a few drinks! Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.

Getting a reservation here is nearly impossible so we decided to line up an hour before opening and…read moreended up first in the walk-in queue. Once they opened the doors we were seated immediately so the strategy paid off. The menu looked incredible across the board so we went in and tried almost everything. We ordered a ton for 2 people and had a lot to bring home. Here's the breakdown: Order these: Squab Liver Skewers: Rich and packed with flavor, a great way to start. I dont even like liver, but this was good! Typhoon Shelter Soft Shell Crab: Really well executed, would order again without hesitation. Salt and Pepper Tiger Prawns: Simple but done perfectly. Singaporean Chili Crab with Fried Milkbread: Delicious but one note here. The bread is a bit much and doesn't add a ton to the dish. This would be even better served over noodles to soak up all that chili crab sauce. HK Black Pepper Steak: So juicy and flavorful. One of the standouts of the night. XO Escargot with Milkbread: Another winner. Beef Chow Fun Noodles: Genuinely the best chow fun I've ever had. Do not skip this one. Mapo Spaghetti with Beef: A fun and unexpected combination that really works. Salt and pepper squid skewers: Packed with protein. Super flavorful! Yuzu Sake: The perfect drink pairing for this menu. Skip these: Chong Qing Fried Hawt Rabbit and Peruvian Chicken Fried Rice were the two misses of the night. Save your stomach space for everything else. The flavors here are exceptional and the service matched it perfectly. Will absolutely be back and already trying to figure out how to snag a reservation next time!

    | June 16, 2026 |…read more Girls night out! We had reservations at 6:30pm via Resy. *Seoul Crudo limited quantity per day *contains raw fish: hamachi crudo drizzled with sesame oil, beet, seasonal citrus (yuzu luxe and mandarin) cho-gochujang (gochujang vinaigrette), and topped with fresh mircogreens (cilantro, wasabi, spring onions) $25 This was one of my favorites! Wagyu Beef Tartare (YUKHOE): seaweed mayo aioli, fried scallion, grana padano, housemade potato chip $24 I would prefer it to be more chopped up. This was a miss for the whole table Perilla Oil Noodle *contains buckwheat: buckwheat noodle, roasted seaweed crumble, perilla oil, perilla leaves $19 Highly recommend Korean Popcorn KFC: kfc comes with yang' yum' sauce & housemade soy vin pickles $23 I enjoyed the soy vin pickles! Rigatoni Alla Kimchi Vodka: not-too-spicy rigatoni vodka with washed kimchi, bacon & cheese (add burrata +4) (can be made without bacon) $23 This was really good and flavorful! Pork Jowl Jeyuk (allow 20-30 mins to cook) : marinated in gochujang for 24 hours, slow grilled over charcoal, with salsa verde and tomato ssamjang Would definitely get this again with the ssam and they timed it perfectly where it didn't seemed long before they brought it out Injeolmi Banana Pana Cotta *contains soybean K-pana cotta with soybean, banana cream, sugar, eggs, gelatin $12 This was so good that we each bought one individually to go Makgeolli Flight $40

Only reason for 4 stars is because I'm not convinced the prices are worth the portions…read more However, the food, service, and vibes were 5 stars! My friend got the makgeolli drink flight. I had one tiny sip of each. (I don't drink.) But my favorite one was "rice to meet you" which the server said is one of their most popular ones. It tasted like Milkis to me, very sweet. Three of us shared (and slightly over ordered) the below: Maitake fries - lightly fried mushrooms (delicious) Seoul crudo - delicious Perilla oil noodle - cold light noodle dish (good but not memorable to me) Wagyu beef tartare - good flavor but not my fave version of tartare. I like when the beef is smaller pieces or minced Rigatoni - delicious and even though the portion is smaller, it can be filling Pork jowl - delicious but on the heavier side since it's fatty KFC - tasty but not very unique to me (side of pickles are yummy but you can order those alone if you don't want the fried chicken) Banana panna cotta - SO delicious that after the 3 of us shared one, we each ordered an additional one to go...I love banana, and I love panna cotta, so this was my fave from the night! Service was very friendly. We ate outside, and they never forgot about us. I was 30 minutes early for our reservation, and luckily I was able to sit at our table and wait. The outdoor patio is cute with string lights and heaters, but it's uncovered so we got lightly misted on. Bring a coat if you eat outside just in case, but my table mates got too hot from the heat lamps while I loved it. Would come back to get the dishes I liked the most.
