I had the spicy tuna roll and the eel. Both were good. Another member in the party had the fire dragon roll. It tasted like straight everclear. Music was awful.

We had an amazing experience at Kona Grill Gilbert. Mark Savage was our server and he rocked the house! The happy hour is incredible! You can try everything at a really reasonable price. I really enjoyed the macadamia nut chicken, the chicken sauté, and the beef sliders. Great space for large parties.

We came in at 2 on Friday, there was hardly anyone there, maybe 8-10 tables filled throughout the place, which is decent size for busy hours. It took us half an hour to get our food from when we set and ordered. Our food was actually pretty decent accept for my son's mac n cheese, both him and our daughter said it tasted like dish soap so maybe the dish it was in wasn't rinsed well or the container they cooked it in wasn't rinsed? Our waitress Erica was great, she seemed to be the only one there and managing more than tables as the whole hour plus we were there we only saw a hostess (who doesn't say much, not even a thank you for coming in" when we left) and Erica and another worker. We enjoyed our food but more likely won't come back with how slow service was when it wasn't busy, if it was slam packed busy then it be more understandable for half hour wait for our food.

We came here around 1 pm on a Sunday and there was a woman waiting at the front lobby to be helped when we arrived. No one was around until a server Erica came by and assisted us with getting seated when the host/hostess was nowhere to be found. We were seated on the patio with our dog and it was a nice day out. Plenty of parking on that side of the plaza as most people park towards the middle of the shopping center. Erica was our server during our meal as well and she was friendly and nice. We ordered the fried pickles, KG cheeseburger, seabass sliders and a kids pizza. Fried pickles (3/5) I love pickles and I enjoyed them but it was also pretty salty. My boyfriend also felt they were a bit soggy. We were expecting them to be more breaded. KG cheeseburger (3/5) Average cheeseburger and nothing special, my boyfriend also said it was a bit dry. Seabass Sliders (3.5/5) subbed fries instead of chips. This was my favorite dish out of everything we got but it still fell a bit short. Didn't taste the miso or furikake, mostly tasted the slaw. The Hawaiian bread felt like it came straight out of the bag and wasn't toasted or warmed but overall it tasted good. Small portions for the price. Kids pizza (2/5) Was not expecting this to be on a flatbread. Fairly simple - flatbread topped with pizza sauce and cheese. But it tasted like it came out of a cardboard box or the freezer. I know you can't really expect much for a kids meal but I've had much better pizzas for cheaper at casual fast food places. All in all the service was good and the food is okay but definitely not worth the prices they are charging. If each item was $3 to $5 cheaper then that would be more on par with their quality.

Hubby & I had dinner here last night. We were seated right away. It took a very long time before our server came over. So long that the manager finally came over & took our drink order. Hubby got a draft beer & I got a sangria. Both were good. When our server came over he was not friendly at all. We ordered the pot stickers. Hubby got the fish and chips. I got the sliders. The pot stickers are really good, but not worth $21. We really liked the sauce they come with. We had just as good pot stickers at other restaurants for a lot less money. Hubby liked his fish. It was lightly breaded & not greasy at all. The "chips" were nothing special. Just steak fries really. Again, not worth the money for the amount of food you get. My sliders were okay. I wanted the chicken sandwich until I asked the manager if it was chicken breast or thigh meat. She said it was dark meat. I don't like dark meat chicken so I got the sliders. You get 3 sliders & fries. Whatever sauce is on the sliders was very sparse. I dipped them in the ketchup because more sauce was needed. I would like to go back & try the sushi because it looked really good from the table next to us. In my opinion, the other food is too pricey for the amount you get. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the pot stickers before we started eating them.

New Review as of 11/18/25 About last night. After being disappointed in the first restaurant bar we went to, my friends and I decided to go to Kona and get dinner. We haven't been here in forever and I know they changed their menu all the time. We got seated outside and chatted. Got our drinks and ordered food. Everything was amazing. The food was delicious and the desserts as well. Thank you to my friends and the waiter (whom I forgot his name, but he wore glasses and had a cross over his neck) but he was super nice and gave suggestions on what to get. He said he liked the French Dip as it's one of his favorites. Will def come back again. Will be seeing more new added items on the menu. Thank you for celebrating my birthday.

We made a reservation through Resy to take advantage of our Amex benefit, but our server told us when we went to pay that they are not part of Resy--which was strange, since they were still able to find our reservation. We paid via the kiosk on the table. Hopefully, we'll still receive our reimbursement. Food-wise, the kids loved their bento box kid's meal with the "bear orange." It's definitely a great value at $8, which includes a main entrée, two sides, and a drink! The happy hour menu was also a good value, especially the chicken and shrimp lettuce wraps and the sushi rolls. The potstickers were tasty, but I didn't feel they were a good deal for happy hour. The surf and turf was good as well, although we requested medium and it came out medium-rare. Since we were in a rush, we didn't send it back. The grilled shrimp was very good! The rice on the sushi rolls were a little dry for me, but overall it tasted decent for the price. The spicy tuna roll was not spicy at all. The large fish tank behind the sushi bar was fun to look at, and the background music wasn't too loud, which was nice. The place is family-friendly, and we would definitely eat here again!

The service was great and attentive. We went in with our Resy credit from American Express. They have a special running right now with pre fixe menus (restaurant week and taste of Kona). There are some good options. The food is decent for their sushi options but the salad and steak were not fresh. I would recommend getting another option like their burgers. They also have some great happy hour options Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 PM, there is a 6 dollar burger meal, and again from 9 PM to close. The decor is a modern design with a dsrker ambience. Would give the happy hour a try just for the deal but would not recommend the steak options. The brownie dessert was great. The brownie was moist and soft on the inside. It is served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that really paired well.

"Well done burger" and salad untouched! That was the salad without us eating even a bite. And yet that cost us $17?!
    Meredith B.

I ordered for delivery and the driver kept messaging me apologizing for the preparation taking longer. It literally was almost 2 hours late! I could be more understanding if it was made to order but we ordered burger well done and it was totally pink pink! And the salad was so small and mediocre for $17! Delivery or in person, we won't be frequenting Kona Grill again.

Ambiance great we had outside patio seats. The service was fast we had a good waitress. Food was a little pricy for portion. Two kids orders and a Macadamia Nut Chicken. The chicken was raw in some edges. The manager was able to make things right. Over all not a bad experience just the undercooked vibes has me staying away for awhile..

    Angry Edamame and Red Sangria
    Jessica A.

Came for dinner/HH on Friday night and had a pretty good experience. Sat on the patio which was surprisingly cool enough despite how hot it actually was outside. Our server, Erica, was great...she was definitely hustling all night. Things we loved: Meatballs - the crust, the gravy, the potatoes, the peppercorns - yum! Margarita flight Crunch roll Filet Things that were good but not amazing: Red sangria Franciscan wine Bonanza wine Things we didn't love: Angry edamame (the sauce was really sour and not at all what we were expecting) The fries and green beans that came w the filet Overall, definitely a good little spot for date night - trivia at the table was a blast!

    Steak Frites

Visited on a Friday night for date night. We made a reservation on Open Table for 6:30 and were seated immediately upon arrival. The waiter came in inder 5 mins to acknowledge us and to get our drink order, water for me, Sprite for my wife. He came back shortly thereafter to get our food orders. I order the Steak Frites which was a 6oz NY Strip and fries and my wife ordered the sweet chile salmon w/fried rice. The food came quickly and was got. I will say I was disappointed with the portion of my strip, you'll see in the picture. It looks smaller than 6 oz however it was tender and flavorful. I ate it in 3 bites. My wife's salmon was very good though, and I'm not a salmon fan. The fried rice was just as good, although it was a weird combo; we've never had salmon and fried rice. The bill for all this was a little north of $70 so quite pricey. Only reason for 3 stars is I've been to other places and ordered steaks and their 6oz is bigger.

It had been quite some time since I had last been, and my most recent visit didn't disappoint. Every time I've ever been here, it's always been busy during the dinner rush, but service has always remained quick and attentive. For an appetizer, we enjoyed their bread and butter, which was fantastic. The bread also came with olive oil and seasonings to dip it in, which was also very tasty. For dinner, I enjoyed their grilled cod with French and sweet potato fries, as well as coleslaw. While the fish was slightly overcooked, the meal overall was still delicious, filling , and well worth the trip back to High Tide. Definitely swing in if you've never been!

The location has a quaint, house-style feel with beautifully manicured grounds. The large doors were open, allowing a lovely breeze to flow through, a welcomed touch. There's also a convenient parking lot right next door, which was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant offers a variety of seating options: outside patio, high-top outdoor seating, inside bar seating, and traditional indoor dining. We arrived in that sweet spot between lunch and happy hour, so the restaurant was quiet and relaxed, exactly how we like it. Drinks My Blue Hawaiian ($15) was absolutely amazing, it really hit the spot, and I was still feeling great when we left! My husband ordered the Pizza Port Chronic ($5) and said it was a nice, refreshing change of pace. Our Server Andrew Andrew greeted us immediately, walked us through both the food and drink menus, and was genuinely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was the highlight of our visit. Exceptional service. Appetizer Butter Board & Bread We started with the Butter Board ($14), served with toasted bread. The butter itself, whipped with ricotta, herbs, and what I believe was a honey drizzle, was absolutely delicious. My only note is that the bread edges were toasted a bit too dark for my taste, leaving a slightly burnt crust flavor and aroma. Entrées I ordered the Seared Scallops ($48), which were plated with white potatoes, purple potatoes (possibly ube), and sausage over a rich sauce. Unfortunately, the purple potatoes had a burnt taste that was off-putting, and I wasn't able to finish much of my meal. My husband, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed his Grilled Striped Bass ($48), beautifully plated and well-executed. Final Thoughts While my entree missed the mark this visit, Andrew's outstanding service and the overall ambience more than carried the experience. The space is gorgeous, the concept is lovely, and I can absolutely see returning when the seasonal menu refreshes. In my opinion, it's worth a second chance, we will be back.

I also loved that the porch was dog friendly, so even your furry family members can join. It's surrounded by adorable local shops, so the whole area makes for such a fun outing. The menu had so many options that it was honestly hard to choose because everything sounded so good. They also had an extensive drink selection, and I loved that they were able to turn one of the drinks into a mocktail for me. It was so refreshing and perfect especially since the Arizona heat is starting to kick in. The staff and service were incredibly sweet, attentive, and accommodating. After we finished eating, we walked around all the nearby shops to check everything out and walk off our food. It turned such a simple lunch date into a memorable little day together. Definitely a place we will be visiting again.

My husband and I came in for a light dinner after a movie last night. We got our food and were just sitting, enjoying our meal when Chester walked by with a couple plates of sweet potato fries and I made a comment only to my husband about how good they looked. To my surprise less than 5 minutes later Chester came over and dropped off a plate of fries at the table for me. That was literally the NICEST thing someone has done for me in forever - I was SO impressed. WOW!!!! So if you're Chester's manager - please tell him thank you again for going above and beyond. The atmosphere is upbeat, bright, and welcoming with a really good energy whether you're stopping in for lunch, dinner, or meeting up with a larger group. The setup works especially well for groups since there's plenty of seating and the ordering process keeps things moving even when it's busy. One thing they do very well is efficiency without losing hospitality. They have both a dine-in ordering counter and a dedicated to-go counter, which seems necessary because this place stays packed. Even during busy times, the staff stays friendly, attentive, and organized. You can tell there's real attention paid to each order and that management understands how to run a smooth restaurant operation. The menu has a lot of solid choices whether you want something lighter, comforting, vegetarian, or protein-packed. Portions were satisfying, and the broccoli deserves its own mention -- somehow simple but absolutely addictive. My only real note is that pricing feels a little high for an order-at-the-counter style restaurant. That said, the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience do make it easier to justify once in a while.

Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! New food menu tomorrow too?! What?! I was almost tempted to back today to get more of their amazing dishes from the main menu!! Thank you Cat for the amazing hospitality! I learned so much about Gaea in one afternoon too :D Love it. To update about the food I tried but some of you may not get to try since they're changing it up :P *Tiger Shrimp - DIVINE - JUICY ZUCCHINI STUFFED WITH CURRY THAT MAKES YOUR ENTIRE MOUTH WATER JUST THINKING ABOUT IT ONCE ITS EVER TOUCHED YOUR TONGUE - the prawns are BIGGER THAN YOUR MIDDLE FINGER *Thai Salad - zesty spicy, VERY filling and made in lettuce cups, so very much not your typical salad but very tasty *steak skewers - much more like the juiciest steak I've literally ever had on a skewer - LITERALLY...but not because it's fat, just because they somehow made this steak completely juicified - don't ask me how - ask Cat *Mole Chicken Skewers - My favorite...you should just try it.

We were setup in a separate dining area from the main dining room, which allowed for better conversation without added noise. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive the entire time we were there, which was a couple hours. The milk bread is an absolute must! It's so pillowy soft and the flaky sea salt perfectly compliments it. I ordered the Wise Decision cocktail, which was refreshing. For my entree, I had the shishito Caesar salad and was advised I could add a protein from their skewer selection of chicken, pork belly or oyster mushrooms. I asked the waitress about the chicken and she advised that they are smoked and will appear pink from that, so not to be alarmed, but are moist and really flavorful. While the filet was tempting (and what everyone else at my table ordered), I wanted something lighter. Thankfully I was not disappointed in my selection. The chicken was as delicious as described and could be cut with a fork. The Caesar salad was well dressed, but not soggy. Do I think it was worth the money to add the chicken? Not if I were paying, but since my company paid for it, I think it was worth it. This is a great spot for a date night or special occasion.

I had it on my list, but it's not in an area I usually go to. It's tucked away in commercial/ industry area around other businesses. Pretty well hidden. You would have to know its location to drive back there. Once you drive into the parking lot, you see all the trees and the white brick building. The interior and outdoor patio is a beautiful space and we opted to sit out there during some nice weather. For a Tuesday night it was surprisingly full, we had a reservation for 6:30 pm and were sat right on time. The service of everyone we interacted with was great. Our server was friendly and did a great job explaining the menu and making suggestions. We ended up splitting a few dishes- the burrata appetizer, octopus picatta piccante, scallop spaghetti, and roasted airline chicken breast with risotto. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The cocktails were also well balanced and very enjoyable. All in all, glad we ventured out to that area of Mesa to enjoy a lovely dinner!
