This review is from my visit for the Fruits Basket S2 promotion in 2021. As a long time fan of Fruits Basket, I was extremely excited to hear that Funimation was having a collab with Kung Fu Tea and giving out Fruits Basket stickers. The promotion was supposed to be 1 sticker per drink, so me and my sister came early to make sure we got one. We ordered 3 drinks expecting 3 stickers. The lady working there called us up and gave us our orders with no stickers. I had to call her over and ask her for the stickers and she reluctantly gave us ONE. I asked about the promotion, which said 1 sticker per drink and she told us that since the stickers were so popular, we could only get one. She seemed extremely angry and unwilling to compromise/sympathize with us as fans who came here specifically for this promotion. If we had known that they wouldn't honor their own promotion, we wouldn't have ordered so many drinks. The drinks themselves weren't that great. The strawberry slush and mango drinks were way too sweet. We ended up not finishing them. The taro slush was the best drink, but not worth the experience we ended up having. One year later, and I can still remember how upset I was about the promotion and the way we were treated at our visit. After reading the reviews saying that the punches (fruit teas) were better than the milk tea, I was hesitant on trying this place at all. Since we were already getting poke next door, I decided to make the decision for myself. Getting a plain milk tea is the best way to judge how good a boba place really is. I ended up ordering a large Kung fu milk tea with boba and less ice. The drink isn't super milky which is what you would expect when you get less ice. If you're into that strong tea taste, you will like the kung fu milk tea, though it is not at all overwhelming. The boba-sweet and not too soft or chewy (just how I like it). The first time we ordered on DoorDash, they handed us the wrong order and we didn't realize until we got home. I had gotten an insanely sweet strawberry lemonade that was disgustingly sweet so didn't drink that, but the oolong peach tea was pretty good. The second time we ordered, we got the Kung Fu milk tea, and their seasonal Pumpkin milk tea. At 25% sweet (which is how we normally buy our drinks) it tasted so watered down and flavorless that we tossed it. Mind you- I NEVER toss my drinks I mean at $5-6 dollars a drink now they're liquid gold! That being said, I enjoyed their fruit teas. They call them Punches, but they're just the same syrup sweetened fruit teas. I had both the Sunshine Pineapple and Mango Green Teas. The only tea place that I've found that lists gluten containing and caffeine free drinks on their website menus and in store. I ordered the winter melon a milk cap tea and it was delicious. I got the Spirit Halloween tea for my husband (it contains gluten and caffeine). It was like a matcha tea I think because it was green. He loved it! read more

I want to give this place a 5, but honestly the Boba was way too clumpy. Not sure if this is the case all the time. BUT, I'm super impressed they have Lactaid infused Milktea for people like me. Cocoa Cream Wow: Couple things, make sure you shake the drink instead of stirring it. I realize at the top there was cocoa powder that didn't mix well once I inserted the straw. Unfortunately it pains me to write this review ! First and foremost the drinks are amazing and nothing has changed. I am a big supporter of kung fu and been waiting for a location to open in the Bay Area. To my shock it they have food on their menu unlike their Carrollton TX counterpart. I had to order a pork belly and shrimp tempura bun to try. This is where things turned south real fast... waited 20 minutes and was told it was almost ready... check in another 15 minutes... still had to wait asked if it wasn't ready for a refund of the food I didn't get. They told me it's almost ready and asked me to wait 5 more minutes. Then the food finally arrives! The buns... for the price they are HUGE! Pork belly was good a lot of pickles vegi's . The Shrimp tempura, the shrimp was very crispy which is a huge plus but overall it was bland. I might have been ok with the wait or not as mad if there was communication of why it was taking so long, maybe technical difficulties vs me having to ask what was wrong. Went here the second time. First time I thought their milk teas were bit too sweet although I had adjusted the sweetness level to 50%. Second time I had iced honey green tea with the same sweetness level of 50% and still too sweet for me. It's funny since I have no problems with sweetness level with other bubble tea shops. It seems that their sweetness level has been inconsistent. Husband ordered an iced oolong tea and he didn't like it. I tried it too and felt like their oolong tea didn't taste like any other oolong tea, which was weird. I don't want to label them with poor words, however, two times is enough for me to not go back to this store. I gave them two chance that was it. Heard about Kung Fu Tea from a few people, they seem to be a chain with locations in SoCal, the East Coast, in AZ and have managed to open up here in the Bay Area. Wasn't able to take advantage of their BOGO on grand opening week and took a chance. This location is small for a boba shop, a lot smaller than your average. There are multiple flyers showcasing specialty drinks they carry from milk teas, flavored teas, slushes, snow cream, yogurt and seasonal specials. I decided to go pretty basic, but a favorite flavor of mine: Wintermelon Green Tea with boba, less sweet (75%). The drink was pretty typical, I would say their drink runs a bit on the sweeter side but accurate for 75% sweetness. Good green tea flavor, no bitterness and the Wintermelon was not too artificial tasting. Their boba is good, more soft and tender than chewy. You could easily get a drink like this elsewhere like Gong Cha. Service was fast and the drinks are reasonably priced. Menu has a good variety of flavored drinks that are more common in Taiwanese culture that are difficult to find elsewhere. Tea flavor is prominent in the drink. I still think the shop is a bit small. Might come back to try something else if I were in the area, but nothing too significantly amazing about my experience here. read more

I visited around noon on a Monday and it was pretty empty. There was a person ordering and then there was me. I was able to order my drink and get it in about ten minutes which I think is fair. I got the Cocoa Cream Wow Milk Cap and it tasted pretty good in my opinion, but I can't help but think that all it consists of is Lactaid milk and caramel drizzle. The description for the item is very vague so I'm convinced that it's a very basic drink that you can make yourself at home. They give A LOT of boba here. I personally don't like a lot of boba in my drink but I know the average person prefers more than less so a plus for that :) Their boba was very warm which can be a good or bad thing depending on anyone's preference. It was pretty soft in my opinion so yay. Not the best, but definitely on the better side. It was also very sweet which I love ^_^ Also, I paid $3.50 for my medium drink because of rewards I had but it's originally $5.50 which I do noooooot think is worth it at all. I ordered a medium Kung Fu milk tea with pearls, 50% sweetness. Had to wait about 15 minutes to get my drink, but there were a lot of people who'd ordered before me. The drink itself was very meh. It tasted really watered down and weak. I couldn't taste any tea, which is weird because I can usually taste more tea when I order 50% sweetness. The pearls had good texture and were sweet - the taste of the pearls was actually better than the overall drink. I don't know if I'd want to come back again. read more

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon for the promotion of T-Mobile, it was pretty busy. When I got there, only two women in the bar, one of them would come and take orders and handing out online orders as well. I wish there was one more person taking orders and handing out online orders, because she looked rushed. :/ overall she was very friendly! First thing that caught my eye was how clean this place is loved the black walls. Also behind the bar spotless. You could see behind the washing station where you pick up your drinks everything looked well organized and put together I give that 5 + Stars! i've been wanting to try this place for a while just because i see it so often. they have so many locations even in places you wouldn't expect. sesame matcha milk; (7/10) i love matcha and black sesame and then together are a match made in heaven. here it was not a bad attempt but i felt the drink was a little sweet. the employee said you could adjust the drink to be less sweet but then you would have to change the amount of matcha so i just kept it regular. the black sesame flavor was definitely present though which i am so happy for i do wish it was a little stronger. overall i enjoyed my drink and thought the service was fantastic. if i were to come back i would probably get this drink. read more

I've had Kung Fu originally when I first went to New York. I wasn't expecting that they would open one in San Jose, so I decided to give this a try once more. The shop itself was pretty small, but not too small. Drinks: Kung Fu Milk Tea - My sister wasn't that too happy with the drink itself. She just says its not her favorite. Pomelo Tea - My brother got this and said it was ok. I tasted it and it was fine. I think I could make due with it IF they had let me less sweeten it a bit though. It was just a bit too sweet for my preference. Oolong Milk Tea - I got this. This was ok and hot that craving spot. Kung Fu Tea takes over the old Tapioca Express spot in Saratoga Square in San Jose. I've heard of this chain in the Southern California and East Coast regions, but this might be the first Bay Area location, so I decided to check it out. There was plenty of parking since it was at a Food Lion. The staff were friendly and ready to take my order as I looked at the menu as well as the interior of the place. I decided on the Strawberry Lemonade Green Tea with Aloe Jelly. The drink was ready in a few minutes which gave me time to snap a few pictures. It was tasty and refreshing. We had Kung Fu Tea for the first time when visiting sunny San Diego last summer and were excited to see one opening in the bay. I did notice their menu being very scattered and busy and not easy to navigate if you don't know what type of drink you want. In addition to the busy menu, they have a bunch of flyers all over with seasonal and special drinks that I didn't see until I sat down to wait for my drink. Tea is very flavorful and fragrant and the boba is a perfect bouncy, chewy texture that I look for in tapioca pearls. This is the first time in a long time that I got pearls perfectly cooked to my preference. The milk green tea with half sugar was my perfect cup of heaven. My husband prefers black milk tea due to the robust, bold flavor that we love. Both drinks were delicious. We will be back again for tea. read more

We wanted to try something new, so we went with left to right, winter melon milk tea with herbal jelly topping, Wow Milk Oreo with boba (I wasn't sure if I should get with boba, but it's actually good with boba), and the usual, Kung fu milk tea. They have Lactaid for the lactose intolerant folks! It did my hubby very well because he didn't get a stomach ache after having boba! He loves boba so much that he will have it even though it irritates his stomach! This is definitely an added plus! They randomly have fun flavors that they switch up depending on the season. Right now, they have purple yam made with the real stuff! Parking here is average, and it's a hit or miss. It's unpredictable, but definitely worse on the weekends. We always end up getting parking, so nothing to deter you. They have plenty of tables inside. We did move a few tables around this past time to sit all 7 of us, but it worked. I had a try because I was next door to get some great poke. KungFu green milk tea was the perfect treat to wash down the spicy poke. Good flavor and fresh boba so nothing to complain about. I had it with 50% sweet and less ice so it was perfect for me. Lots of other choices and they do a good job of highlighting their most popular drinks. Huge disappointment after seeing all the Instagrammed teas with the fried chicken hanging off of the sides and whatnot. It's just another boba shop...with bad boba. Their menu is pretty extensive and that worries me a bit because it usually means that they aren't using a ton of different fresh ingredients - just mixes and powders. They have a digital ordering kiosk but there was a cashier there to take orders as well. Apparently you can customize your drink there but she didn't ask me (only my friends) so I wound up with a very sweet milk tea. I tried their Kung Fu Milk Tea that had kind of strange undertones of earl grey which I do like but when I order earl grey and am not expecting milk tea. The bubbles were terrible. They were mushy and falling apart. I'm glad I just went with a medium so I didn't have to suffer through the whole thing. One interesting thing is that on menu they have some Lactaid options for people who are lactose intolerant. Overall this one is a pass for me. There are so many better options nearby. read more
