The food was great and the service was good, but we felt rushed since there was a very long line. We ordered and within minutes, our food started to arrive. The cold noodles were delicious, and the galbijim was tasty and tender. We enjoyed it more than at other places because it included pumpkin. We also ordered two soups, one of which was spicy and reminded us of tofu soup without the tofu. The steamed tendon meat dish was perfectly cooked. When you walked into a highly touted restaurant and their menu only has limited selections it's usually a good thing, this was no exception. Make no bones about it, Tang (汤) is their specialties here. Galbi Tang: easily the best Korean soup I had in recent memories. Broth was excellent, packed with natural flavors from the galbi, red date, green scallions, etc... Not too greasy. As part of COVID protocol all the seasonings were already added to the soup. Galbi was tender and falls off the bone, the dipping sauce on the side was descent. Each order was prob intended for 1 individual, the container was slightly larger than the average tofu soup bowl. The galbi-tang came with a bowl of white rice and 3 bonchons. The kimchee cabbage and cucumber were very good, but the daikon was the bomb. You can tell it's relatively fresh: crisp, crunchy and chunky; with perfect blend of flavors. After we devoured the first plate, they brought a second without any prompting. At $17 per Tang it's not cheap, but then again you pay the same for a subpar French onion soup in a generic French restaurant. I really love how the menu isn't extensive and just a few items that they execute so well! Bibim Naengmyun - truly a fan favorite ! The noodles are perfectly chewy with a great balance between sweet savory and refreshing. I love that they had pear slices - it gives it the nice refreshing sweet crunch. However - my all time favorite dish here the Dogani Tang. I'm for sure a beef tendon girl and hate when it's over cooked and mushy - this was not the case here! They're were perfectly cooked :,) and love how they set the pepper and salt on the table so you can season it to taste yourself. The broth was so delicious ! read more

On cold winter nights this place REALLY hits the spot. The food is light but hearty and wholesome, and every slurp of broth makes me feel so warm and fuzzy from my nose to my toes. The banchan (here it's basically just three variations of kimchi) is really fresh and made in-house, and these ommas don't play around - the kimchi here is top tier!! I recently made a huge mistake on dining at Kunjip for a family's birthday celebration. Please see my previous review for details. I'm reconciling my credit card bill now and noticed the charge Kunjip processed is more than what I authorized that day. Based on the lousy service & attitude of waitress, I tipped them 15% based off of the pretax amount of $78.50, but apparently the dishonest business people running Kunjip decided it would be okay to tip themselves more. The final tip Kunjip rung me up for was 15% based off of the after tax amount of $85.66. You can't believe Kunjip is so dirty? Neither could I believe my eyes. But see the photo I've attached which shows the receipt I kept from the visit versus the amount my credit card was rung. I had a suspicious feeling that the waitress would play such tricks (based on the unbelievable reviews I've read from fellow Yelper regarding Kunjip's entitled tip culture), so I made sure I kept my dining receipt. Don't worry though, I've disputed the charge with my credit card company and overcharged has been credited back to my account. I was so excited to try this place because I thought maybe I would find a good place that makes sul lung tang like Han Bat in LA, but I was kind of disappointed. The sul lung tang was lacking the beefy flavor but there is a good amount of meat and noodles. For the sul lung tang, you had to season it with green onions, salt, and pepper. Even when adding the seasoning myself, it didn't really bring out the flavor. The cucumber, kimchi, and radish sides were really good though! The kimchi is on the spicier side but i love it. The service was quick and servers are very friendly. There is a good amount of tables inside. Me and my friend did not have to wait on a Sunday night. Very delicious food, the short ribs in the galbi jjim are just the right texture and are nice and chewy. The flavors are pretty good though I would probably get the spicy version next time. I liked the cold noodles, but couldn't finish it because of how large the portions are for each dish (probably a good thing). I liked the restaurant's modern contemporary Korean design and aesthetic too. The service isn't the worst, but it wasn't the most pleasant though. In typical Asian fashion, the servers are a bit cold and reluctant to help, and they are always very hurried. Before I could finish reading the menu, I was already being pressured into ordering, and halfway through the meal, the check was thrown onto the table. Came here during Labor Day weekend this year when it was 100 degrees+ outside. Their cold noodles hitting the spot is an understatement! So flavorful and refreshing. This place can get pretty crowded but they have a sign in system and it moves relatively quickly! For two we ordered the Mul Naeng Myun and the Hwe Naeng Myun. The first one is more beef based and the second one had seafood and chilis. Both were great but I think I preferred the beef option a little more. Delicious korean food! We waited a while on a sunday night, but it was worth it. We got galbi tang which was so beefy and flavorful! We really enjoyed it with the glass noodles. We also got Seolleongtang which was also tasty but not as beefy as the galbi tang. It came with sooo much meat and was worth it to me. This one you had to season to your own liking. The soups were so comforting and I wish I could get it all the time. We also got galbi jim which was so flavorful and super tender! The meat just falls apart and was delicious! This is my second time coming here with my grandparents. My grandparents are Korean, and they rarely eat out since they usually cook Korean food at home. But this place is an exception. My grandma loves noodles, and she always gets the Mul Naengmyeon (cold noodles with a vinegar-y tasting soup). It definitely hit the spot when we went during this year's wild heatwave. My grandpa usually gets their Cha Dol Gomtang. Gomtang is a hot soup with clear noodles, and it comes with rice too. It also usually comes without salt, so you have to season it with salt to your liking. They also have a jar of chopped green onions/scallions (which I love), so I kept putting more into my soup. Also hits the spot. Their only complaint was that there was too much brisket in both soups, but I thought that was a plus (: The three kimchi side dishes were amazing too (cabbage, radish, and cucumber). 10/10 Dittos. Amazing service and high quality authentic Korean food, love it here! The seolleongtang here is to die for and warms the soul especially in rainy/cold weather. Regardless of the season, I love coming here for any occasion. The workers here are the absolute sweetest and will greet/consistently check up on you! The portion size is very large so I definitely recommend each getting something different and sharing so you can try more things :D I will say though when I'm feeling under the weather I love having a bowl of seolleongtang to myself haha! The broth is so rich and smooth, it pairs perfectly with the rice and banchan. Speaking of the banchan, the kkakdugi here is SO SO SO GOOD! I could not stop eating it before my food even came. The food here is amazing! They don't have a big menu so they are good at the ones that they do offer. I've always ordered the Galbi-Tang and Spicy cold noodles here's and it always seem to hit the spot. Usually I'm not able to finish one pot by myself but stuffing yourself is worth it. Please be vary that there maybe a language barrier if you don't speak Korean. Otherwise everything here is delicious. There'll be a wait then you get there but they move tables along quite quickly. Their Galbi-gem is also good but don't expect thick sauced like Daeho, it's more of a family style galbi gem. It still fall off the bone though. read more

One of my go tos in South Bay! The Korean food here is amazing and I love their kimchi. I've been coming here for years and they recently remodeled the interior to look more modern. Thankfully the food quality has stayed the same! Every dish always comes with their 3 types of kimchi: Napa, radish, and cucumber. All of these are amazing and there's unlimited refills. My go to dish is definitely the galbitang which is perfect for when it's cold. The flavor is very homey and has good depth. If you are going with a group I would share the galbijim. I personally like this better than Daeho and I find it to be less salty but it has a rich meaty taste in the sauce. Would highly recommend making the trip and trying this place out! read more

The reviews here looked solid and it was chilly in the evening so we trusted Yelp for the dinner recommendation. I got the kalbi tang and my mom got the sullung tang. The broth, along with rice, and kimchi hit the spot. The servers were kind and refilled our kimchi too. We came back the next day and my mom got the kalbi tang and I tried the nang myun. Probably the most authentic Korean restaurant I've encountered besides your typical KBBQ joints. Right now they have about 5-6 tables outside and 4 tables indoor. All side dishes (bonchon, rice, sauces) come in plastic containers. They have hand sanitizer on every table. Cup are disposable too. Galbi Tang (#3) - $17 - perfect for a chilly day. It's comforting and flavorful! Comes with side of rice, glass noodles and bits of beef short rib. Would highly recommend! Bibim Naeng Myun (#6) - $16 - not your tradition noodles. It's cold sweet potato noodles in a spicy sauce. They give you vinegar and mustard on the side to add on. This dish has a lot unique flavors going on, which I'm not sure a lot of people would like, if they're not used to Korean food. I personally love it and would recommend. read more

7/30/23 This one is a bit hard to rate for me. I mean, some of the food's pretty good, definitely rich and flavorful soups and noodles (some not so much), but at the same time I'm not sure that I actually like eating here despite my happy stomach. Most waitresses were unhappy, and overall most people here aren't very nice, and maybe borderline rude. Also, the menu is really small (which is both good and bad) but they basically have NO food a kid would eat. I think the only thing our 3yr old would eat was some white soup broth and white rice, which were one of the few things not spicy not. They have no appetizers at all. No Korean dumplings, which he would have loved. Nothing. And... they are CRAZY busy. My friends got here around 3:10-ish, and they wouldn't let anyone get seated without all of us arriving (waiting for me, my boy, and my baby girl.) I finally arrived and were seated around 3:50pm. When we finished at 5:20 pm there was a HUGE line outside already, 5pm on a Sun night!!!! I'm guessing at peak times it must be insane to get a table. Anyway, as I said, the food's pretty good: 8. Hwe Naeng Myun $25 "cold sweet potato noodles in spicy sauce topped with marinated skate fish, cucumber, radish, Korean pear, sesame seeds, oil and boiled egg": This was mine, and it was great. The noodles were ultra thin, and super elastic. The sauce was awesome--spicy and flavorful, and super thick. The skate fish was interesting--it wasn't actually meat but more like marinated slices of fish bone with some surrounding meat, which I assume was raw. I thought it was interesting--the marinade was strong enough to have softened the bones I think. so if you take small bites you can eat it all. I gave some to my gf's friends to try, and well, they aren't foodies I guess and tossed the best part away cause they said it was weird. Typical. Anyway, good to try. 9/10 4. Do Ga Ni Tang (Non Seasoned Soup) $25 "please season to taste with salt and pepper, ox knee bone soup with beef tendons, green onion and dried jujube": This wasn't what we expected either. I will note--there IS NO MEAT. It's basically all tendons--you'll find no meat. Also, there wasn't much else besides that--very little of that jujube (dates). The soup is super flavorful though, but I do feel a bit jipped with this one. 3/10 My friends said they've been here before and have tried the $65 Mo Deum Soo Yook plate and said it was okay, but nothing special, implying probably not worth $65. Same deal with the $75 Galbi Jim they said. My issue with this business was that I WAS CHARGED MORE THAN I EXPECTED. The food was okay and the servers were not the most attentive. For the most part, everything was okay. I mainly had an issue with how they charged my credit card. I noticed a significant increase in what they charged me vs. the amount I signed off on in the receipt. I called to settle things because they charged me about $15+ more than what the receipt said (after tip and taxes), and the person on the phone barely tried to help me. They rushed me through the whole call. They found my information and said a price that was less but not exactly what I had on the receipt. Long story short, I didn't try arguing with them because they were clearly busy and I was worried they won't give me any money back at all, so I agreed with the amount they claimed to owe me even though they owed me back more. This whole situation pissed me off. It was my first time trying this restaurant because my friend LOVES this place, but I have never experienced this issue from any other food establishments. I decided to write this review after a few months of this incident because I didn't want immediate repercussions and wanted to warn others of the same thing. Classic Korean hole in the wall restaurant that focuses on the flavors of the food above all. The menu is simple and sticks to traditional Korean dishes including some that are rare to find in America such as soo yook and hwe naeng myun. Fair warning, both of those dishes are an acquired taste and can be difficult to execute. I did not have the confidence to try and stuck to the basics. The basics being the galbi tang and seol leong tang. After trying both, I can say this restaurant is a broth house through and through with rich, nourishing flavors complemented by the refreshing spice from the kimchi. The tangs did not skimp on the meat either. When the check came out, the server gave out Yakult, which was the perfect end to the meal. Kunjip itself is not glamorous nor does it try to be with its decoration clean and simple and service fast and down to business. However, that simplicity lends itself to Kunjip's charm that is reminiscent of mom and pop shops that I would go to in Korea. While not nearly as good as those restaurants, Kunjip does justice to the homey, comforting flavors that I crave when sick or hungover. read more

I've been going to Kunjip the past several months and it's become popular on TikTok as well. They actually just remodeled the place, they got rid of the carpet, updated the decor, and all the furniture! It looks beautiful inside and the food is still just as amazing. You have to come here!
