We gave this place the benefit of the doubt but we should have known better considering it was the only place with any available tables on Sunday night this holiday weekend. The grande pork nachos were served cold with very little pork. They weirdly came with beer cheese which would have been okay hot but beer cheese cold is gritty. So gross. They also served our sodas with so much ice there was barely any actual drink in our drinks. Check out people and wait staff also seemed unhappy. Pina colada was awesome received shortly after we ordered. The place was pretty empty, ordered pork nachos and they were cold, like out of the fridge cold. Cheese was canned, the worst nachos I have ever had, the kraft Mac and cheese was dry, fries were way underdone. After we placed our order we waited at least 30 to 40 minutes for our food. The order was wrong and we had to wait a bit longer to get the correct nachos. I guess we should have read the reviews ahead of time, looks like we weren't the only ones to complain about service and nachos. This waitress was very rude, we asked her about our drink coz the other guy already took our order # and she just brushed us off like we she wasn't interested to what I was telling her and the huli-huli chicken and came out a little raw! I've been here twice because all of the other restaurants in town were unable to seat our large group of 10 on a Saturday evening at dinner time. We got the Volcano Bowl to share at our table of 4 and it is pretty watery but super fun and worth getting. It's "gauranteed" fun. I got an Ahi burger and she asked me how I wanted it cooked and that totally threw me off guard. Seared obviously, how else would it be cooked? They cooked it perfectly though, and the fries were good too. No one else really liked their food though. And the servers were brusque, if not outright unfriendly. read more

Truly awful place. My group and I were clearly discriminated against because of our race. We were denied entry twice on 1/20/2024. The first time was around 9pm. We went inside to pay, there was a group in front of us paying, and the security looks at us and tells us they are closing, we found it weird because the sign said they were open till 2am so we tried asking him about it, but he ignored our questions and repeated that they were closing and told us to get out. So we did. A line had formed outside so we told them that they had closed and everyone looked confused. As we were walking away he comes out to tell the people outside that they were moving chairs around as they transition to nightlife and would let people in soon. I heard this and went back to ask what time they would let people in, and he said he didn't know but that there would be a cover fee, and that we shouldn't wait around. He told me there was another bar straight ahead. We decided to just go to the other bar because we didn't want to wait around and we had already gotten out of line (because of him). We had a GREAT TIME but they closed at 11pm, so we decided to give Lakanuki another try. Mainly because they were the only place that is open until 2am. So we get in line, wait for about 30 minutes, and when we get to the front (it's the same security as before), he tells us to wait so we do. And then he lets a group of people he knows cut the line and go in. The people behind us start getting angry but we don't comment on it. Then he addresses us again and tells us it is cash only and that the cover fee just increased to $25 each. We think it's crazy for a place like this, but hey we had just waited in line for 30 minutes, so we say okay but we needed to pull out more money. Then he says they don't have an ATM. We had seen the ATM the first time we walked in and I heard the security tell the group in front of us they could use the ATM because they didn't have cash either. So we all look at each other confused. He tells the group behind us they can go in because they had cash. And before we can say anything, tells us they reached capacity and would be closing the doors for a while. Realizing exactly what was going on and that this guy was not going to let us in, we left. We had been having a great night, we didn't want to keep holding up the line, and we didn't feel like arguing. I'm sure it would've been pointless anyway and he would've painted us as "acting crazy". We were the only Mexican Americans there and two times is not a coincidence. This was such a terrible and saddening experience. I didn't get the security's name but he was the only security we saw there that night. Tall, heavy, and of course white. This makes me wonder how long this has been going on at Lakanuki, and how long it will be allowed to continue there. After doing some research and looking at other reviews, there is a reoccurring pattern of racial and sexist discrimination. read more

Bar service is subpar. I have been here twice and the bartenders are slow and ignore women all together. I will give anyone a pass one time. However, two times in a row, three weeks apart, I have experienced the same behavior from the bartenders. They move like icebergs. And the whole idea of opening a tab before being able to order from the bar is STUPID! You have a line of 40 people trying to order drinks from one person because they don't have a tab open when you have 4 bartenders standing behind doing nothing! If you're coming for dinner, steer clear. We were excited to try something new while in Mammoth but were very disappointed. I ordered the lepo rice which was supposed to be jasmine rice with mixed vegetables, an egg and breaded chicken. When it arrived, it was a big bowl of mostly just rice with a little bit of corn and a few tiny flecks of carrot and an over hard egg. The chicken was fine but I was looking forward to some vegetables which were non existent. My husband ordered moco loco and was equally disappointed. The burgers were frozen patties with no flavor and the gravy was scarce. The 2 stars were because his egg was cooked well and his fries were good. Overall very disappointing. I guess this is where you come when you are staying in Mammoth if you want to go out and meet people. There was a $5 cover to get in for everyone. I have a strict rule against paying to get in to pay for drinks, but a good Samaritan helped us out. Margaritas were very sugary, so stick with beer or something simple. Don't think about paying as you go or adding another drink to your bill because "This is why we open tabs." said the bartender. Or I could pay as I go like I want and I will end up tipping you more, but hey we all have bad days. It kind of reminds me of a frathouse basement dance party. Great spot with a variety of selections for the family. Staff was very nice and accommodating. The staff even came out to clean off the snow that had melted on the tables outside. They had a fire heater in-between each table, but as temperatures kept dropping, they weren't as effective and we had to quickly chow down our food. We had a larger party and didn't mind splitting tables to follow covid regulations. Half our party ordered burgers which were delicious while the other half had ordered chicken tenders. Good: It was great to sit outside on their big tables. We had a table of eight and the food was very quick. The staff was super nice and helpful. Bad: Honestly, the food was not good. The jerk chicken was so dry none of us could finish it. The coconut shrimp was not cooked completely and had a battery texture. The pineapple "kabobs" were strips and the sauce was more of a syrup with peanuts in it. The fried rice was probably the best thing we tried and it was relatively bland and dry. Also get the rice without the aioli - It's not good. You also couldn't order soda's or water for the kids through their online portal. I BEG TO DIFFER. ‍ My wife and I ordered some cocktails at the bar and they were really nice. We also ordered some chips and salsa. They gave us a number and we went and sat down. We were talking and realized 20 minutes have gone by and no chips and salsa. I asked a waiter and they said it will be coming soon. Still no chips and salsa. I went to the bar and asked again about where our chips and salsa were at this point it was about 30 minutes. The person was surprised and chuckled. A little bit she said it will be out shortly. The chips And Salsa came out finally 35 minutes later. My wife and I grabbed one dipped it in to Salsa, and it was like chewing on cardboard so I spit it back into the basket . I brought the chips back to the bar and said I would like a refund and don't want chips and salsa anymore because these were pretty horrible. The bartender grabbed one and tasted it and he said I beg the differ. I was pretty shocked that he was arguing with me, and even more shocked that he was eating the chips that I spit back into the basket. I give it a one star because our drinks were good but not great. More importantly the fries were cold and when I told my server about this she said she'd bring my plate back and get hot fries. I thought this was a strange approach as now my burger would be gone too. A few minutes later she came back with"new hot fries." They weren't hot at all and now the burger wasn't hot either. My husband was about half way finished with his meal about now. I have never sent a meal back.... But I sent this back. I guess they we're going to remake my meal.
