Absolutely delicious meal, and a great evening being taken care of our "host" Phil! The lump crabcake appetizer was outstanding, and that's coming from a couple that lived in Baltimore for 15 years, Phil promised we would not be disappointed and we were not. For entrées, we had a perfectly cooked fillet mignon and the scallops on risotto (as a substitute for the okra at Phil's suggestion) was absolutely delicious. For dessert, we tried the Tres Leches cake , which was some of the best we've ever had, unlike many that are soaking wet, this was a delightfully light cake, and a giant piece easy to share. We will absolutely be returning the next time we are in town!

Went here for an anniversary dinner celebration! Our waiter was so kind and attentive. I ordered the mushroom ravioli and he told me to add blackened chicken, totally worth it! He seemed very knowledgeable of the menu and even recommended drinks for us! We shared the she crab soup. Then my boyfriend got the steak! Mashed potatoes were okay but the broccoli was good!! Wondering what to do M-F from 4-6? Well wonder no more - you're going to Larkin's to enjoy the best happy hour deals. $5 martinis with a $12 plate of steak frites? Say no more. Wouldn't recommend this place, let me break it up: We went for happy hour on a very warm day, since we were bringing our dog, they offered us a table on the patio. It was sunny and 83 degrees outside, they had some umbrellas next to the tables but the one they offered us was still sunny so when we asked for a different table with more shade, our host simply left us he had a terrible attitude. There was a discrepancy between what the menu said and what we got charged for. Menu stated that during happy hour the oysters are $1, but they were actually $2. We were charged $6 for martinis that should have been $5, and the menu items were meant to be half price, but they were charged full price for a couple of them. Although I don't think pricing is excessive, you shouldn't say one thing on your menu and charge something else entirely different. The food was ok--nothing particularly noteworthy. The steak frites were the best so far; the meat was juicy, soft, and tasty. The calamari was good too, but there was a hair on them.

Went for happy hour as the deals are terrific. $1 oysters and 1/2 price appetizers! Deals on certain drinks .. oysters were great. Also they served spinach artichoke dip with potato chips because they ran out of pita/ nacho chips...it was odd and didn't go together that well. My dirty martini.was so so...it was " clear dirty mix".. I would NOT order this again.. it was like salty vodka .. not even that cold and no blue cheese olives... Super clean ..and we timed this right on Christmas vacation week so it was not that busy. Just watch what you order!

A Father's Day Fiasco at Larkin's - A Meal Best Forgotten What was supposed to be a celebratory Father's Day brunch turned into a two-hour culinary trainwreck, thanks to the bafflingly bad service and dismal food at Larkin's (32 E Broad St, Greenville, SC). We arrived full of excitement but left full of regret. From the moment we walked in at 11:15 a.m., the experience was a slow descent into disaster. It took two full hours for my parents to get through a meal that was barely edible and certainly not enjoyable. No wonder the waiter never told us his name. The waiter seemed lost in a fog of confusion. When I ordered shrimp and grits (clearly listed on the brunch menu), he confidently told me it was a dinner item. I had to show him where it was printed under 'Brunch', only to be met with a blank stare and a half-hearted excuse. Things only went downhill from there. My father's simple request for steak, mashed potatoes, and vegetables turned into a tragic comedy of errors. First, after putting in our orders, the waiter came back about thirty minutes later and said there were "no potatoes of any kind, except fries". LOL ... fine. My dad settled for steak and vegetables. Another twenty minutes later, our server returned to let us know there were no vegetables either. What arrived instead (after patiently waiting over an hour) was huge plate with a burnt hunk of meat and a side of nothing! This is what Larkins served my wonderful dad for Father's Day! His plate was a dry and joyless as our experience turned out to be. And my mother's meal? A beet salad with salmon that looked like it had been fished straight from a bonfire and placed on top of a bed of wilted weeds. Apparently, someone in the kitchen thought it was clever to plate the burnt side down, as though we wouldn't notice their presentation trend. We did. It was shameful, for the waiter, the kitchen staff, and Larkin's management. Any place that serves food this carelessly and with such little regard for their guests should be embarrassed to call itself a restaurant. We came to Larkin's expecting a warm, memorable brunch with family. What we got instead was the kind of meal that makes you want to write a scathing review. So here it is. The only silver lining? Asking for the check and having it arrive swiftly so we could make our escape and find a restaurant that respects its guests and knows the difference between a delicious food and burnt offerings.

We were here last night for our anniversary. When I made the reservation I was asked if we were celebrating an occasion, we were and that was noted. At no time during our meal was our anniversary mentioned. Not a big deal as we knew what we were celebrating, just curious why go to the trouble to ask if it is not going to be referenced in any way. Our steaks were not cooked as ordered. My husband asked for medium well, his steak was still bloody. I asked for well done, in fact, I said it can't be too well done, it was medium well. We should've sent them back, we didn't (our mistake). We did discuss with our waitress. She acknowledged the steaks were not right and said they had a new chef. We were offered a 12 dollar cheesecake as compensation for a hundred dollars of steaks that were not edible. It was also incredibly hot in the restaurant to the point of being uncomfortable. This will be our last experience at Larkin's, this was a mediocre meal at best, and for a meal that cost several hundred dollars, mediocre is certainly not what you hope for. We'll stick with the Strip Club in Greer. read more

My wife, two friends, and I arrived to Larkin's on a whim for a celebratory dinner. I spoke to the hostess who was younger and very friendly. We did not have reservations and the hostess informed me that the two tables next to the entrance/bar would be available in approximately 15 minutes. She asked which I preferred and I told her the first one would be fine. We stood off to the side as we patiently waited as the two tables were bused, cleaned, and set for dinners. They sat empty for approximately 30 minutes. We watched customers come and go, wearing shorts, flip flops, and hats. A party of two stood waiting for their table as well, while they were offered wine, sadly we were not. As the party of two was waiting the gentleman kept turning the hostess lamp off and on. Yet this was a nonissue and was never addressed. They were then lead to their table outside. As we stood next to the two empty tables that had been set, another party of two without a reservations, walked in, and sat down immediately. I know for a fact they didn't have reservations because we were literally standing three feet from the hostess station at the entrance. At this point I asked a different hostess (Because the friendly hostess was away from the station) if we could sit at the table we were offered when we arrived. She stated that they were waiting for a table in the back to open before we could be seated and that the Gentleman, who I assume is the floor manager, should have spoken to me about it. As we stood there for another 10 minutes, the same hostess came up and stated she wouldn't make us stand any longer, and we could have a seat at our original table, once a member from our party removed his hat. At this point, we walked away and ate a wonderful steak at a different restaurant. This confirmed the sentiment. They did not want us sitting at the table next to the entrance/bar. I'm just wondering why? It was quite apparent that they did not want us sitting at the front due to our appearance and/or sexual orientation. I've been to numerous affluent restaurants across the county, from BLT Steak in Manhattan, to Saskatoons in Greenville, never have I been treated so poorly. This was my first trip to Larkin's, and unfortunately could not try the menu, due to the terrible treatment we received, so I cannot speak for their food. However, I would recommend trying any one of the many wonderful restaurants across Greenville. read more

Food was excellent (shrimp and grits). Very large portion. But the inside is a bit too loud for my taste if you're looking for a place where you can talk. My date and I had to really talk loudly to even carry on a conversation. Just needs a redesign inside to help with acoustics. read more

For the price, I do not think Larkin's is worth 5 stars. I enjoyed the restaurant and we had great service, but the food was just ok. I had the 3 course special with filet and it was good but the meat was tough not juicy. The crab soup was delicious as was the creme brûlée. A couple of my friends complained that they felt sick after dining here but the vast majority of us felt fine. read more

Oh Prom Night at Larkins. But great service and great food - once again. With a great friend to share, we started off with Two Dozen Oysters on the Half Shell. Fresh, briny, nasal opening atomic horseradish on the side. Next up: Four delicious, beautiful Applewood Bacon wrapped Diver Scallops. Onto the seasonal salad of Spinach, Arugula and Goat Cheese. Fun presentation and a nice pairing with the Scallops. Splurge on the DeBragga Dry Aged New York Strip cooked perfectly hot pink (medium), Au Poivre. A juicy, hot, fantastic steak, complemented by Fresh Asparagus, Wild Hunter Style Mushrooms (deep robost umani flavor) and a fan favorite with the Potatoes Au Gratin. Had a wonderful meal orchestrated by a superb server (Shannon) at Larkin's on Saturday, Oct 21. On top of the food and service, there was the excellent people-watching afforded by a large wedding at the outdoor venue next door. Thanks and congrats to them! Would recommend anything on the menu. We are seniors so we split it all: a starter of seared shrimp and scallops, a 14 oz au poivre filet, a wedge salad, a side of mashed mushroom potatoes, and a bourbon bread pudding a la mode. Worth the splurge (money and calories!) And then we went next door to see the great Old Crow Medicine Show at the Peace Center. Some nights are just meant to be amazing! read more

Went for brunch and wasn't impressed. I've had excellent food and service here before but this visit was lacking. My mimosa arrived at the table after our entrees. The chicken and brie sandwich had no flavor. And we were charged another table's bill. read more

Nice location. We ordered soups and an entree with one side. It took 30 minutes to receive our cups of soup. After 25 more minutes we asked our server when we could expect our entrees she said their working on it which would have bee acceptable if it was busy but it was 9 on a Friday and things were slow there. My husband ordered a ribeye and it looked like no other ribeye he has seen. More of a strip while tasty not what he was expecting. I ordered the mahi mahi. For $32 for about 4 ounces with no sides is a ridiculous price for a slice of fish Good atmosphere but slow service and a long time waiting between courses with a wait staff that didn't seem to be concerned read more

Caught a late lunch last Friday. Staff was so accommodating! Normally start serving oysters during the dinner hours, but made exceptions. Raw and Rockefellers were well presented and delicious. She crab soup was to die for and the drinks perfection! Great experience, look forward to a return visit for full dinner!!! read more

Larkin's is probably my favorite steakhouse in Greenville. I've tried Hall's and Ruth's Chris and think that Larkin's is the best steak for a reasonable price point! They also have a lot of other non-steak options on the menu which are also very good. Steak: I've tried the filet and the New York strip. Both are fantastic with a delicious salty sear on the outside! Larkin's doesn't try to do anything gimmicky with their steaks (I'm lookin' at you, 500-degree plate at Ruth's Chris!). Seafood: the seabass is fantastic!! The sauce is delightful. And it was a huge portion, I couldn't eat it all! Salad: The table-side caesar is famous for a reason, definitely worth a try. Fresh, crisp and a unique twist on Caesar dressing! Sides: all of the sides I've tried were very tasty. The mac n cheese is some of the best I've had! The broccolini is also good, and there are two mashed potato options which are very enjoyable. They have a great wine selection to pair with the delicious food!! And the atmosphere is upscale but not pretentious. Highly recommend!! read more

We had really high expectations. Perhaps too high. Let's start with the good... The service was excellent. The servers were attentive, helpful, and very friendly. We went there to celebrate our anniversary and they were kind enough to offer us complimentary glasses of champagne. The side of truffle fries was delicious. Now for the not so good... I went with the dry aged ribeye. She went with the bone in filet. Both steaks were ok. They were both cooked exactly to order but neither had very much flavor. When you buy high quality steaks at that price point, you expect more flavor than what I'm capable of making any night at home. Our desserts were both good, not great. I had the bourbon bread pudding and she had the tres leche cake. This is a good spot to visit but next time we're in Greenville, we will try to find another place. read more

Nice atmosphere but overpriced food. She crab soup was tasty but a little too thick. NY Strip steak was good but I had to send it back once to adjust the temperature. Ala carte sides seemed decent but I would have at least one included with the steak. read more

-Having previously dined at Larkins at the old location (not E. Broad) on the river, which was very nice and very upscale, we found this new location to be a huge disappointment. The atmosphere is like a bar?! The food is mediocre. Such a bummer as we really liked Larkins as a date night spot. We will not be back. The server didn't seemed concerned other than making sure we would confirm our complaints when she relayed it to manager, he didn't bother to follow up with us other than offering to replace a torched piece of meat and to clear dishes off the table. Good luck to the restaurant at the new location! read more

Today was our second visit to Larkin's and we loved it just as much as the first time. It's the absolute most perfect spot in Greenville to celebrate a birthday, special day or to go for a nice brunch. A Sunday bunch was on our to do list this afternoon. Even with it being Mother's Day and artisphere fest going on a couple steps away there was no wait to sit outside. We ordered a couple rounds of Moscow mules and their Pino Gris - both great. My man ordered the Benedict burger which was cooked to perfection and made to order with hollandaise on the side. I ordered the bacon crab and egg sandwich along with the she crab soup. We both melted over our meals. Our waitress Anna was delightful, making sure we weren't going to miss an event at the festival as well as being a perfect amount of present making sure our drinks were full without over doing it. To top it all off we ordered a cinnamon roll to split for desert and this thing was bigger than my head. Delicious! read more

Larkins is/was one of my favorite spots in town but they really dropped the ball today. After seating our group of 10 people they informed us they only had one menu that we had to share. This was odd as the restaurant was only at about 30% capacity. So we had to pass around the menu which was awkward and took some time. The next issue was the 35 minute wait on food of which in itself doesn't seem too long but when combined with the slow ordering process it was nearly an hour from the time we were sat to the time we received our meals. The food itself was good (nothing special) but the menu was very limited to sandwiches, burgers and salads. Larkins, You can do better and you'd better. There's plenty of other great options in Greenville. read more

Larkin's is a popular eatery located near the Peace Center and of course, the famous Reedy River walk. We decided to dine here as we were planning to attend a concert at the Peace Center. We were promptly seated, given menus and drink orders. The cocktail menu here is extensive, and I opted for an autumn type rum drink which was delicious! The menu has a good selection of appetizers, salads, and entrees, but what is emphasized the most are the steaks----both bone in and dry aged. My husband and I opted to share a salad and bone in NY steak. Our choice of salad was the Clemson Blue----bibb lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and Clemson Blue Cheese dressing. The lettuce was very fresh and cut in a wedge with a very tasty dressing. We asked that the steak be split and assumed that the bone would also be removed. It wasn't. My husband chose the bone portion and I had the other half. His portion was chewy and sinewy. Mine was fine, although I've had much better NY steaks in other restaurants. We made our views known to the server and manager, so they reduced the price of the steak by half. We ordered mashed potatoes with rosemary and garlic for a side and while it was very flavorful, it was lukewarm when it was brought to the table. We chose tres leches cake for dessert and that was excellent. It was four layers of a white cake, very moist, and with a creamy white icing. So salad and dessert here were a big plus. This is a beautiful place located in the heart of Greenville. Our meal started out with drinks and the short rib poutine. Drinks were great, felt app lacked something. Perhaps needed more cheese. My husband had a ribeye and I had a filet. His ribeye came out medium mine came out Med rare, which was flipped flopped from what we wanted, but both still were really excellent. The bread that came with wedge salad was great as well as salad. I would not order the au gratin potatoes again, they were blah. Also ordered strawberry cheesecake, which was just awful, had a weird medicinal taste. I had ordered a lobster tail that was over cooked. So the experience was a mix bag. Service at bar and table were great, so I do think I would try again, just wish food was better, especially considering the price. read more

I am a local Greenvillian. I am well versed in the upscale restaurant market here, and I am thoroughly unimpressed with Larkin's. Yes, your food is delicious. No, what I experienced was not worth the high price that I paid. Y'all could stand to take some hospitality notes from Rick Erwin's or Soby's, or really any other restaurant in downtown. I feel better when I go to Chick-fil-A than I did when I left here. I can find delicious food anywhere in Greenville, but if I'm paying a high price, I expect the service to be great. The service here SUCKED. No one made eye contact, no one smiled, it took 3 hours. Please, train your staff to at least pretend like they care. The pomp might work on the tourists, but I am not going back any time soon! read more

Excellent in every way. The service was way above average. The server, Amber, was knowledgeable and guided us through the menu. We settled on the Chef's Selection. Every course was beyond excellent. Crab cake appetizer, spinach strawberry walnut salad, filet mignon and creme' brûlée's desert all served with a chef selected wine. We were served a 20 year old port with dessert because it was my birthday. Can't say enough great things about this restaurant. read more

This place I had really high hopes for--the location is beautiful and we sat outside as the sun was setting so they already started off on the right foot. I ordered the 3 course special they have because I wanted to try a lot of what they had to offer. I got the crab soup and it was the best crab soup I've ever had; there was crab in every bite and it was so creamy--I highly recommend this. But then the entree came out; I ordered a beautiful 7oz filet with mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese. The filet, unfortunately, was terribly under seasoned and tasteless really. The only saving grace was how beautiful that cut of meat is. The mac n' cheese was one of the worst I've had; it was far from creamy and very dry. It was as if someone put some noodles on a plate and put cheese on top. Ew. The mashed potatoes were over peppered but a good texture. The dessert is what made me give them 3 stars over 2. The crime brûlée was gorgeous, velvety, and had a beautiful vanilla hint in the custard. All in all, not a bad meal but I definitely expected better. read more

I came here for a quick bite to eat as an appetizer one weekend morning. They were extremely busy and the wait was fairly long. I ended up with a seat on the patio and it was nice, although slightly chilly that day. It had a great view. The service was the reason for the lack of stars. It just wasn't as good as it should've been. We had to wait for a long time to be seated and then had to wait a long time for the server and also waited for the food, for her to check on us, and to get the bill. It was kind of annoying. I ordered the she crab soup and it was alright. A little watered down compared to what I'm used to. I just wish the experience would've been a little bit desirable all around. read more

Lunch was fabulous! Ok maybe it was the 75 sunny atmosphere and outside dining, but I have zero complaints. We were seated promptly outside. We got our food quickly. And the food was fabulous. I had an arugula salad and my two lunch dates both had the brisket grilled cheese with truffle fries. It was all so good. Of course we proceeded for a leisurely lunch walk around the river. I would highly encourage you to stop in for lunch. I was initially jarred by the three dollar signs, but pleasantly surprised that our final bill (3 people) was only sixty bucks. read more

We called ahead for same day reservation. Glad we did, not sure if it was worth the wait. The steak was amazing! The sides were cold, they quickly replaced so kudos for that but.. still. We ordered off their cocktail menu as well and they were good, not great. Wished for wine.... Staff was friendly but it seemed to be an off night for staff. Not sure if we would go again, esp considering their prices. read more

My boyfriend & I ate here tonight for Valentine's Day! Omg! First off, the service was great even though our reservation was at 5:15, we arrived at 5:45 due to traffic and I did call and there wasn't an issue! We were seated immediately! We ordered the shrimp and crab dip && it had a nice lil crust in it. I got lamb chops and omg they were delicious!! This place is low key and very elegant. I wouldn't bring small kids because there is glass everywhere especially on the tables. Their She Crab soup is the best I have ever had!! read more

Larkin's is great for any occasion: drinks, brunch, dinner, or events! Their Sunday brunch is what I go to the most, and they have some excellent burgers and beer to choose from. If you want some rich southern food, great service, and a perfect view, this is the place. It is decidedly a step up from places like Smoke on the Water, so keep that in mind for both its prices and quality. Highly recommend! read more

Great brunch spot if you sit outside! Nice view of some greenery on the patio. Drinks were just OK. Bloody Mary was fun, you fill out a personalized sheet. I had the steak salad and we also got the the twin filet eggs Benedict! We both loved it. read more

Have Had many wonderful experiences at Larkins over the years. Today though my wife and I were not so impressed. Staff was fine but the rest only fair at best. We were allowed some leeway on the new menu changes so we had oysters 2 ways, 6 raw 6 Rockefeller. Very small oysters that were okay but not chilled whatsoever. The Rockefeller were decent but they were lukewarm. Same with the she-crab soup. Lukewarm. The restaurant only had a few tables seated so no mad rush in the kitchen. More attention to detail should have been a simple task. One more small thing was the temperature inside was terrible! Very humid. Of course we chose to sit inside due to the 90+ temperature outside. Uncomfortable to say the least. Also an issue with the rewards system they are attempting to use but just need to familiarize the staff with the program. We will return but certainly Hope improvements are implemented. read more

We stopped in before heading over to the Peace Auditorium for a concert. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. Oysters on the half shell were tasty - the spinach and arugula salad was dressed a bit heavy for my taste - even after asking to be lightly dressed - but if you are someone who likes their salads with a lot of dressing - you would love it! The filet bites with chipotle and pita chips were good -- they marinated the meat with Worcestershire I believe - we didn't even need the dipping sauce - liked it by itself. The sesame tuna ordered rare was terrific - served with edamame and quinoa - we didn't want something really heavy - this was perfect! Had a bottle of wine - they have a decent selection. I visited this last Thursday for a company catered event. Our event was held in the Cabaret room. This room was gorgeous and really gave a feeling of being outdoors even though seated inside. With it's exposed wooden beams, and brick walls along with hardwood floors, lights in plants and around the beams plus a view of the river, this room was rustic, cozy and just a super place to hold an event. Everything was set up when we arrived. Service was attentive and everyone from the bartender, to the bussers and chefs preparing/serving the food was friendly and professional. The space was more than enough to very comfortably accommodate our smaller group of 50 or so. All of the food was just delicious. We started with small bites; cheeses, meats and roasted vegetables. For dinner, more small bites and choices of carved beef, fish or pastas. For dessert, mini servings of cheesecake, crème brulee and this delicious stuffed chocolate cake. The wines, which I imagine were their house wines, were a perfect accompaniment. We left around 9:00 and there were plenty of people seated in the enclosed outdoor, heated patio which leads me to believe the inside of the restaurant was full because it was a very chilly night. I would definitely stop in to check out their regular menu if my schedule allows. I highly recommend Larkin's if you are going to be sponsoring a catered event. read more

We made reservations to gather and enjoy their Monday night special for $5 martinis and dollar oysters. We had a lovely table that overlooked the Peace Center plaza by the water. It was busy but not overwhelming and the atmosphere was wonderful. However, we never saw any oysters...and at 7pm we were told they were out. Somewhat of a let down but we proceeded to not let it ruin the evening. However, our dishes didn't come out the same time and we found a rather alarming hair in our calamari. They replaced it promptly and that was fine. The rest of our food when it came was tasty but not enough for us to rave about. Our waitress was good and I feel as if they are just struggling in the kitchen area to keep up and with all that is going on, I don't fault them. Perhaps in a few months we will try again, don't deter from going but maybe skip the Monday night or get there right when they open at 5pm. read more

The execution didn't rise above the idea. It was a fine, forgettable plate rather than a memorable one. Good portion for two, though. A few months ago we had just a couple of drinks at an outside table here and decided to redo it for a longer drinks, appetizers and dinner, and we were not disappointed in any way. I highly recommend this if you are fortunate enough to get good weather! Edit: Almost every dish offered has a gluten free option available

I have lived in the Greenville, SC area for over 20 years and have enjoyed it's vibrant restaurant scene. During that time one of the restaurants my wife and I have enjoyed is Larkin's on the River. My dining experience last night (14 November 2018) failed to meet my expectations or my previous experience. Larkin's has positioned itself as an upscale restaurant with meals priced accordingly. We made dinner reservations at 5:30 pm before attending a show at the Peace Center. We arrived shortly before 5:30 and checked in with hostess. She escorted us to a booth set for 2, but then redirected us to a much smaller table situated in the main traffic pattern of the restaurant. My wife politely told the hostess we'd prefer the booth. The hostess told her they were expecting a large group and that table was reserved for 5:45. We pointed out the table set for two was clearly not going to help her with a large group and we also had earlier reservations and were already in the restaurant and preferred the booth. The hostess then flatly accused my wife of being rude to her and mumbling that she "only got paid $2.00 an hour " before she walked off. We did register a complaint with the manager who offered the perfunctory apology and reassured us the hostess got paid more than $2.00/hr (miss the point much?) We did not request any form of financial consideration for the insulting behavior of the hostess, none was offered, and I would have declined it had it been offered. Then came the meal. I ordered the lamb. It was cooked to the proper temperature, but was completely bland in flavor, served with no seasoning or even mint jelly, pretty much a staple for a lamb meal. All in all a very disappointing experience. But wait, there's more! After we got home we received notification from Open Table (the app we made the reservations through) that our reservations had been canceled because we were "no shows" for our 5:30 reservations. I suspect that "no show" will not extend to Larkin's processing of my credit card bill. Could it be they are simply trying to prevent me from providing negative feedback on Open Table? For the young hostess- if you are correct about your pay rate I would offer the observation that Mc Donald's is currently hiring at $10.00/ hr and they are even offering a signing bonus! That would give you both more money and s place to hone your interpersonal skills. read more

We visit Larkin's every chance we get... they are typically busy so we always make reservations, and get seated promptly. - Once we had to wait about 10 minutes, but the Manager offered us complimentary drinks, and was very gracious! The food is delicious, big portions and presented well...the servers have always been well informed, professional, but not stuffy or pushy. - Just generally GREAT PEOPLE! We visited on a Thursday night last week, and had a chance to sit on the Patio, listen to some great music, and were offered a "VIP" menu that included Salads, Entrees (the steak is AWESOME!) and dessert - next time we go when a concert is going on I hope they have this same special going on! The biggest and best part of Larkin's is that they offer a truly sincere experience... I really feel that everyone there cared about us, wanted us to enjoy every aspect of the experience, AND WE DID - there are so many restaurants to choose from in Greenville - and some really good ones, but this one is the best - probably in the region and one of the best that I've ever dined at. Walking into this restaurant, we were immediately struck by its modern, stylish, and incredibly open design. The ambiance, delicious food and wine, and the superb service created an exceptional dining experience. We ordered the conch fritters, potato & leek soup, crab-crusted mahi, braised short rib, and crème brûlée. The potato and leek soup was creamy and rich. The fritters, with their crispy exterior and fluffy interior, were a hit. However, it was the crab-crusted mahi and the braised short rib that truly stole the show. These two entrees were bursting with flavor. We finished our meal with a classic crème brûlée. It was a great dining experience, perfectly capping off restaurant week. read more

Larkin's in Greenville is a great spot with a pleasant, modern feel and plenty of indoor dining space. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and comfortable. I love their lunch menu -- my salmon was excellent, perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I was also told they offer a happy hour that includes half-off bar food, which is a fantastic bonus. My wife & I (Ed & Judy) were recently married at Larkins On The River. This was always my first choice for the venue. It is in the heart of downtown Greenville. Jennifer, the Larkin's representative, was a joy to work with. She was very receptive to all of our requests and suggestions. My wife & I feel very lucky that we were able to be married in this beautiful, 150 year old historic site. Every one loved the food, and the service was outstanding. My girlfriend insisted that we have dinner at Larkin's for our GNO. What a waste of money! Our steaks were overcooked, the potatoes were unseasoned and tasted like they were burnt and the veggies were soggy and over cooked. I reluctantly had dinner here because my last visit a few months ago was also terrible. I am not sure what has changed in the kitchen but the flavors are just not there anymore. Great place to eat in the Greenville area. We stopped in after a performance at the Peace center. Great staff and service that was at our table serving usduring the entire visit. The appetizer of cinnamon rolls had a raw center another time. My bill was disorganized. I'm not going back after four tries. Not bad, but the she crab soap doesn't compare to Emeril Lagasse's clam chowder. It was a bit grainy and bland. Could have benefited from just a little something else.
