Really cute French brunch place, half inside, half outside on the sidewalk. On a SF-ian weekend morning, the vibes are wonderful. And anything buckwheat always gets me excited. However, I expected a bit more from the crepes: my ham/gruyere/egg yolk one was paper thin -- not enough filling to support the buckwheat, a friend's strawberry tasted like straight up jam, the only redeeming one was the mushroom crepe.

A cute french bakery perfect to grab some cafe food/drink. I like their baked goods abd drinks. They are located near dolores park. They charge a little extra depending if you sit in the bakery or do takeout.

Brunch date with the hubs and been wanting to check this place out. It was busy but we were able to snag a table. We ordered the soft scramble and Eggs Benedict. Had to try the pastries, so we also ordered a chocolate croissant and butter croissant. Love the big mugs of coffee. Ordered a vanilla latte but it didn't taste like vanilla - wonder if they just brought me a regular one. I liked the butter croissant. As for the chocolate, I think we've had better. As for our egg dishes, I enjoyed the soft scramble. Comes with a side salad and smoked trout. Hubs enjoyed the benedict. At no time did we feel rushed. Nice start for our morning.

My friend suggested this place for brunch, and oh my gosh it was so good! I got the 5-item bistro board, and it was the perfect light breakfast. I loved being able to try so many items at an affordable price, and everything was delicious. I also liked the set-up where you pay first, and then your food gets delivered to your table. After we found a table, it took mere minutes for our food to arrive. After our meal was over, we lingered to continue catching up, and the staff never rushed us. Really appreciate that!

Fungi (mushroom) crepe with buckwheat flour. Good for gluten free diets

I came here with my former boss who was up visiting her son and is one of their go to places. I know parking can be a bit of a pain so we got there around 945. Scored a park 1/2 block. There is out door seating and some indoor. When you walk in you are greeted to a large case of scrumptious display of various deliciousness.. there are menu you can perused and you order at the counter and seat yourself. The staff brings your order according to the number on a stick they give you to stick at the table you choose. Settled on the fungi crepe, which are supplied by Fungi West. My favorite mushroom company. The crepe is made out of buckwheat flour and very good. My boss ordered the quiche and we split a crossisant. The also have a case of frozen croissant you can take a bake. I made a mental note to come back an purchase some. This is also great for people and dog watching and a large majority of folks patronizing the place had their dogs with them. The portions were just right and you didnt feel over stuffed or sluggish afterwards. Will be returning.

Mediocre is the only way to describe this place. It's been consistently ok for food, they don't seem to service / clean the tables very often, and I never leave there feeling full. It's got a cute European charm, but that's about it.

This place has been recommended by neighbors so we decided to check it out on a Saturday afternoon. The food was pretty good and well presented. The service was okay. You pay at a POS and grab a seat. We had to venture inside to ask for cutlery, salt/pepper, and another plate. The patio area definitely could have used a sweep because there was trash on the floor. The real star was the coffee - I had a delicious mocha. I would return for the coffee!

Le Marias was voted the best croissant in 2023 by the People's Choice. So I decided to try their croissant. Their croissant was a big disappointment for me. Why? The croissant was not crunchy on the outside. The croissant was not chewy on the inside. The croissant did not have that buttery taste. The croissant had a sour aftertaste. I am puzzled this croissant won People's Choice as the best croissant in San Francisco. In my opinion, this was one of the worst croissant I've tasted. DJ's rating: 1.0/5.00 Would I come back? Definitely not.

Although imperfect, Le Marais is a solid spot to grab a bite for brunch with some friends. I had mixed feelings about some of the food. The freshly prepared food was quite nice, but the pastries, I'd consider only to be okay. Your mileage may vary on seating, depending on when you show up. For the group I was with, it was quite a challenge to find enough space for our group to sit and eat. That said, when we decided we did want to stay, the staff handled a couple of us switching our orders to dine-in very gracefully. If you're here when it's a little less busy, you might not have the same issues. All things considered, it's definitely a solid spot to check out.

I came here for brunch with a friend and unfortunately had an incredibly frustrating experience. It started when I ordered an iced Americano and was given a hot one instead. I had to talk to multiple staff members before they brought out the correct drink. We were also never given water cups. Other tables around us had them, but they never gave them to us. After my friend had already finished his entire meal, we had to get up and get water cups ourselves. The worst part was that my food took over 50 minutes to arrive. I had ordered a salmon crepe, and it was actually the first item we placed. When we asked about it, we were told it hadn't been entered into the system. They said it would come out in about five minutes, and eventually it did, but it was extremely underwhelming (almost wished it hadn't). The crepe itself was dry and had an odd texture. The filling was just some spinach, a few slices of cucumber, and some salmon that tasted unusually fishy. It didn't feel fresh, and overall the dish was just not enjoyable to eat (I took a few bites and left ASAP). The table next to us was also waiting a long time for their food. It felt like the staff were trying their best, but they were clearly stretched too thin. I understand places get busy, but the basics were missed here. I really hoped this would be a nice brunch spot, but it ended up being disappointing. I won't be coming back.

If you're looking for that perfect summer brunch spot that feels like a sunny getaway, Le Marais Bakery in San Francisco checks all the boxes. The café itself feels like a slice of summer in Europe -- bright white walls, pops of blue, sun-drenched corners, and leafy plants that give off total Santorini brunch vibes. It's the kind of place where you can sip on a hot cappuccino lose track of time, and pretend you're on vacation. Loved The Pain Suisse.Think about layers of flaky, buttery pastry hugging rich belgium chocolate and silky cream (not sure about it's ingredients though) -- each bite perfectly balanced between indulgent and light. It's not just a pastry; it's a moment. Crisp on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. Next time would love to try their proper brunch menu, so many options to choose from.

    Croissant, almond croissant, and palmier
    Tyler S.

I first found this place from Instagram because of the giant croissant that they make. You have to order it at least three days in advance online, which I did. A few minutes before my pick up time they called me telling me there was a baking issue and I wouldn't be able to get the giant croissant I ordered, and if I could come the next day instead. I had just arrived at the bakery and ended up talking to the staff in person where she explained what happened, refunded me for my order, and then offered me free pastries because they couldn't fulfill my original order. While I was initially annoyed that I wasn't given more notice, I appreciated the comped baked goods. The palmier was a bit stale, but the croissants were amazing. The plain croissant is the best croissant I've ever had in the US and tasted just like the croissants I've had in France. You can really taste the butter in these croissants! And the almond croissant was very tasty as well and had a lot of filling. The place itself was very cute and I loved that the tables outside were set up in the style of French cafés. And all the staff working here had brunch accents so it really felt like I was in a French boulangerie.

Food Quality: * (Dry, Overhyped) Service: * (Unhelpful, Slow) Ambiance: ** (Standard Bakery) Value: * (Overpriced Disappointment) Le Marais Bakery was a massive letdown. We drove quite a distance specifically for their supposedly famous gigantic croissant, advertised as the largest in SF. Imagine my frustration when I was told it requires a 48-hour advance order... information nowhere to be found on their website or the article that raved about it! Highly disappointing after the long drive. To at least try something, I ordered a regular croissant, and it was terrible - dry and completely unremarkable. Adding insult to injury, the service was unhelpful. We brought our own coffee cups, trying to be environmentally conscious, yet our coffee took significantly longer to arrive than orders placed after ours. This place is definitely a 1-star experience, and I certainly won't be returning. Lesson learned: always check Yelp reviews first.

The inside of the restaurant is charming, with plentiful bar seating to watch as dishes are prepared in front of you in an open kitchen. The menu itself is constantly evolving and may be different with every visit. That being said, the main menu is a prix fixe 4-course meal with the option to add on 2-3 additional dishes to share. The meal starts with a amuse-bouche, generally a cold soup. For us it was a chilled golden beet soup, which tasted a bit like a nice, creamy sweet corn. One of the add-ons was the pâté de campagne, a blend of pork and fatty liver. Paired with a dijon mustard and fresh sourdough bread, it was surprisingly elevated for such a simple dish. Next were a pair of fish dishes that were the highlights of the meal, including sierra mackerel with fennel and peach, and monkfish and smoked butter. The monkfish was a particular standout as it was coated with a dill sauce, and complimented with the sweetness of diced rhubarb and earthiness of hazelnuts. The monkfish featured a smoky and lightly spiced flavor. The dish was extremely well-balanced and paired sweet, savory, sour, spicy, and smoky to a tee. Really excellent. The octopus and yukon potato was an add-on - the octopus was extremely tender, not rubbery at all, and the potatoes were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and soft like a mashed potato on the inside. The meal ended with a hanger steak which was solid, but compared to the other dishes, less extravagant. The dessert featured a rose sorbet, with milk foam and strawberries. As a whole, Mijoté dishes are simple, layered and extremely satisfying to eat. While presentationally may not blow you away, the taste will leave you feeling satisfied. The blend of French and Japanese culinary tradition and cuisine, Mijoté is comforting, elevated, and balanced. Very rare to find fine-dining that tastes so great while also feeling homey at the same time. If in SF, absolutely worth a visit.

When I reached the entrance, I noticed the sketch board and wrote my name below the names and guest numbers already there. When I asked the hostess, she told me it was likely a twenty to thirty minute wait. The dining room was packed as well as the sidewalk tables and outdoor dining structure. Being hungry and antsy, I walked the various tables to observe the service progression to estimate when we'd be seated. About 35 minutes later, we were seated at the sidewalk table next to the entrance and given menus. It's been a while so a menu study was needed. After some discussion, we decided on our meals and agreed to share bites of each other's food. First came the Acme French baguette and butter (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=b_xeRM764lejQiCnELp7OA), a necessary vehicle to sop any gravy or sauce. Two of us had the French onion soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=rJ9tQeC9Al9A0yCiHnA3Fw); it was as I remember, hearty broth chocked with tasty onions with gooey stretchy cheese underneath a nicely browned top. Their staple is consistent with what I remember. My friend ordered the Les Moules 24, poulette (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=ZgxJSrYmiEuwipp8uvkJHA), garlic, shallots, bacon, white wine, cream, parsley; the mussels were good, most if not all opened shells in a variety of sizes. The sauce or broth is the key especially with the baguette slices to enjoy the delicious flavors. For my main meal, i had the pork chop (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=tk0gypyufB2AL0olq-KPHA), Brussels sprouts, bacon, apple cider mustard sauce, suggested and cooked medium; I really enjoyed this as it had a nice outside sear while the meat was tender and still juicy after I cut in. The flavors from the accompaniments paired well and the portions were generous. In fact, a fellow diner mostly ate the accompaniments as our shared format in trying the other dishes filled my tummy. I tried a few bites of my friend's roasted duck confit, French fries (subbed from potatoes gratin), haricot vert, port reduction; sorry, no photo as this disappeared relatively quickly; the duck was tender and fork tender with a smoky flavor as it came right off the bone. I also tried another diner's fettucine, creamy white wine sauce, mushrooms (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=X5em6PctUtXUbiuM7uLmPg); the balance of sauce to pasta was perfect and you know me and mushrooms. It was tasty and is definitely hearty, portions and taste wise. As we dined, more diners added their names to the wait list until there were only two names left when we left around 8:30 pm. The guests were a mix of neighborhood locals and sports fans who came from events since Chase Center and Oracle Park are nearby. I saw a table with guys wearing Giants and Braves jerseys. Thanks to J. Garen who waited on our table and the bus staff who cleared empty plates and bowls and refilled out water glasses. Big thanks for Naomi, the hostess, who kept all waiting guests updated and kept a watchful eye to make sure the tables turn efficiently. As we left, we greeted waiting guests in Valkyries jerseys and we briefly talked about the game and, of course, gave our "Go Valks" cheer. Looking forward to our next meal here.

It's a cool location near Fisherman's Wharf, but it's not touristy. It feels old-school SF. Service is wonderful, of course. I like that it's a customizable tasting menu. You can pick 3-5 courses! There'll be something for everyone. The lobster and duck were wonderful. The Squab pasta was fine, but not as good as the other mains. The desserts (including the souffle) were such a treat! So light and fluffy. Best souffle I've had in SF! They were accommodating to my mom's allergies. Staff handled a misbehaving child so well. She carried him and walked around! I will be back for sure! They also gave us Pineapple cakes to take home.

Made reservations about a month in advance for a Friday night 6:30pm reservation. 5 courses for $185. Good sized portions and we were quite stuffed - probably overly so. All the dishes we ordered were good but the standouts for me were the glazed oysters, scallops, and the salmon. The cheese course is always my fave course - wish I could remember the names of the ones I liked. Could never pass up the chocolate souffle, but I really liked the profiteroles. The French toast was another good one. Service has always been excellent. Although not right away, I'm sure we'll return again.

The decor was minimal and nice, and definitely felt like a more upscale lunch spot. A majority of the group ordered the chicken sandwich which everyone said was delicious! The duck and steak frites were also a highlight for the group. I got the BLT croissant sandwich, which was tasty but I honestly didn't love their fries. The portions were huge and overall we were happy with our lunch! Service was phenomenal and they navigated serving a large party well. Even on a random Wednesday there were a ton of customers. I definitely want to come back for dinner and to try more of their menu items.

The lady servicing water kept coming to do refills - without me asking - that's incredible service for a small place with limited staff. The duck confit exceeded my expectations. I loved the bread and butter. The Salmon was rare and very tasty . The cauliflower was well flavored and mixed very well with the other ingredients. We didn't have enough room for dessert - I will come back to try the French onion soup and mussels in white wine.
