Nice local taco place. They are right off of the Promenade in downtown Long Beach. I visited here for the first time on taco Tuesday. Really good deal on tacos and they are cooked pretty fresh. I am interested in coming back and eating some thing other than tacos, look like they had a variety of things on the menu. We tried the Carnitas, Asada, fish, and chicken tacos. We had some of them crispy and other soft, as well as street tacos. They were all pretty good. They also are served with chips and three different salsa. Restaurant is doing very well complying under COVID-19 circumstances. The staff wore mask and they also had hand sanitizer for guest. There is outside seating available, and they limit the amount of people that can be in a restaurant ordering. Very glad this restaurant is in the area and I have a good taco Tuesday place that I can grab tacos and head back home! When it comes to vegetarian burritos, this is in my humble opinion, the best vegetarian burrito. it's not what you would expect when it comes to a vegetarian burrito. Woohoo! My new taco spot in my neighborhood! If it's as good as the one off Broadway and Long Beach Blvd., then I'm stoked! Super excited they're open till 9 on the weekdays and if it's a poppin' weekend, I hope to grab some grub on my pub crawl back home! I liked the taqueria before Leo's came in. The worst fish taco!!! One bite is as far as I got. It had fishy smell. I didn't realize until after I bit into it. I ordered 3 tacos and two potato. It came out to less than eleven dollars. Portions were large. 5 stars for pricing. The price was 9.98 per Chimi. A Steal! I have paid allot more for Chimichangas that miss the mark. I honestly felt bad I didn't tip more than 20%. We paid by card and never carry cash. They had a condiment bar with 3 Salsas. All 3 very authentic. The lighter colored sauce was especially tasty and hot. This gringo mixed the red with the hot. I want to give them a 5 stars but I'm stuck on a 4.5 (though I can't accurately input 4.5 stars). The wet chicken burrito was sooooo bomb! Compared to every burrito I've had down here in LA county, this felt/tasted the most authentic. The tortilla was soft and thin, the meat had little to no fat (tasted shredded), the rice was standard and tasty (not some Mexican American fusion type of ish), and the beans were good too! The whole burrito was HUGE and I ate every bite without remembering to take a pic. I ended up paying $20 for 2 burritos. The salsa is where I want to subtract 0.5 stars. It just didn't taste like a spicy, chunky salsa that I was looking for. They have a salsa buffet so I grabbed all 3 choices. The chunky red was mild, green had a little heat, then the orange-ish one was spiciest. Out of everything I got from Leo's the salsa just fell kinda flat in my opinion. Awesome place to try if you want some comforting and classic Mexican food! Makes me miss burritos from the Bay Area where ALLLL the taquerias are pretty poppin. Safe and solid choice! Got the carne asada torta with no guac for my mom, and replaced the side of fries with rice. Also got Horchata. She liked it. Woo. They accept credit with minimum $5 purchase. They offer 1.50 tacos on Tuesday and Friday. On Saturday they have menudo, caldo de res, birria. I've had the fish tacos in the past, but didn't like them and would not get it again because they tasted like and reminded me of fish sticks. I tried their birria, lengua and al pastor tacos on "Mexican" tortillas today and they were really fresh. Possibly because I got there before lunch rush. I liked the slight crunch to the corn tortilla. The other tortilla options are soft flour tacos with lettuce or fried tortilla. I have a stronger preference for the lengua and birria. I wish they had other cuts of meat like cabeza... I think the caldo de res was good, definitely needs the lime, onion and cilantro to add more flavor to the broth. Sadly we made the mistake of coming to this place to try to eat on Thursday June 4 at 10:45. The employee that was at the door had the worse attitude ever. We walked in really happy, greeted her and asked if they were already open. She rolled her eyes, mumbled something that sounded like a yes and went inside. Didn't hold the door for us or anything; as a matter of fact she let the door go when she knew we were coming in. The whole time she kept giving us dirty looks. We decided to leave and before that I asked for a manager. She said nobody is available. So I told her that we decided to leave because her attitude. She just responded ok, bye. This place is a local gem. The service is great and the restaurant is always clean. The staff is great and will fix the food anyway you want it. It's one of the few restaurants that gives you a taco Tuesday deal. They also do a deal on Fridays, too. The food is very good and tasty. They give you a great breakfast burrito daily at a discounted price before 10 am. . You can eat in or call and pick up. My nephew goes there at least twice a week. It's close to home quick way to get a bite. I have tried many of the dishes and never been disappointed with anything. They provide salsa bar with 3 different kids. I like Leo's. The food is good and so is the price. The problem I have is with this location's service. I frequent the downtown one and never have issues. With this one, it's chaos. Twice I've come to this one and every time they mess something up. First order I asked for black beans, of course no black beans. I ask for no onions, there's definitely onions. Second time I ask chilaquiles to eat in and take a burrito to go, please delay making the order and they bring out both in to go containers. Then they label the burrito "chicken" and it was beef. I ordered the "sopa de Res" or beef stew which was not what I expected... it certainly was tasty and full of crunchy well cooked vegetables (not over cooked and mushy). Always order CORN tortillas with traditional dishes. Flour tortillas are best left for burritos or northern dishes like machaca.
