To be honest, I had mixed feelings about coming to this place due to a number of yelpers complaining about the quality of the goods here. However, my morbid fascination got the better of me, so I thought I'd check it out anyway. If you're looking for this place, it's on the south side of Parmer Lane located in the middle of a strip center. If you're looking for something to go on your early commute, they do open at 5:30 a.m., but they do not have a drive up window. I tried a sampling of five different items, and the unfrosted cinnamon roll tasted stale, and the other four items were good, just not great. If you're looking for something to get you going in the morning, this is a good stop and the prices are quite reasonable. I did not partake of the premade breakfast tacos under the heat lamp or the coffee. You'll also be pleased to know, that this is one of the few businesses where the tip screen will not be greeting you for for that last second cash grab after you run your card. Informative photos below.

Stopped in for a treat not found in NM. This place is a favorite stop for kolaches. Great selection including BBQ, sausage, pizza, sausage, cheese & egg.... You get the idea. Get them heated and it makes for. Perfect breakfast on the go. Are there better kolaches? Not in Central Texas. If you've never tried a kolache it's time you stopped here and give them a try.

This was my first time trying Kolaches, and this location certainly had a large selection. I got the potato and bacon, along with the cream cheese. I recommend having them warmed to get the full flavor effect. Prices were reasonable, place was clean, and staff was friendly. This makes for a great breakfast or late morning snack!

This is a pretty solid restaurant. I never had a bad meal there. I really like the bean and cheese kolache. It reminds me of a bean and cheese burrito. If you're in the area and you want a cheap meal that's also delicious this is where I would go. The service is quick and polite, both things you want in a restaurant.

The only thing as good is the kolaches were was the service and the speed of it. We'll be going back there many more times I am sure.

While we're glad you joined us, I'm sorry to hear your breakfast experience didn't meet expectations. We'll be reviewing your comments with our culinary team to improve consistency. We appreciate you giving us a try and hope to provide a better experience in the future. Warm regards, Wes Brown It's great to receive a response from the business manager regarding our experience at their restaurant, but all four us thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. We had absolutely no complaints regarding our dining experience. Caroline is affiliated with the Marriott Element and Aloft hotels and that, I believe, where the affiliation ends. I try to avoid hotel eateries but I've had great dining experiences at hotels like the JW Marriott in Austin. We, four, stopped by on a Sunday AM for breakfast and we had a great time. They do have brunch cocktails available and their bloody Mary's were deemed excellent with just the right amount of spice. My bloody Maria was on point and we all got our Sunday Funday started. Breakfast was wonderful. Our eggs arrived cooked perfectly. The pepper bacon and real potato sides were off the charts delicious. They also offer a few TexMex breakfast options and Plus one was raving about her Huevos Rancheros plate. Service was excellent even though they became busy our server was very attentive. Pro tip: Sat and Sun AMs if you arrive early you can easily score a table.

Thus far, I've only had cookies. First time was when said friend gifted me a rather ginormous chocolate chip cookie that melted in my mouth. Couldn't get it in my belly fast enough. Since I've been going on my own I've also had the lemon crinkle cookie as well as the chocolate crinkle and the double chocolate chip. All are enough to put my head in a tizzy state of intoxication from their sugary goodness. I'll have to say the double chocolate chip cookie is my favorite. That is, as I type this. I'm sure during my next visit it'll be another cookie. Perhaps the lemon will move forward in my line of faves. No matter because as I said, it's all delicious goodness. Baked love. Perfectly baked. On top of that I bought 4 egg tarts to bring to a friend's house. Located in the corner of the plaza (next to the grocery store). Cute little bakery with a sweet older lady who speaks zero English but was nonetheless extremely welcoming and kind. She even gave my toddler a complimentary macaron. Sweet. I am usually pretty adventurous with trying new pastries/snacks and it generally works out well. Unfortunately, I did not like most of the things we took home that day (my husband agreed). A taro egg ball thing -- not fans. A gelatinous rice blob inside a bamboo leaf (believe it's called Zongzi) -- also didn't work for us. Finally, the beef puff (which seemed like a safe bet) fell short of expectations. It's my fault -- I ignored that part that said "beef floss." It had a stringy/processed texture that I just didn't like. I just wasn't a fan of the flavors/textures -- but obviously that's subjective. I did enjoy the garlic bread we also thankfully bought -- it was soft and flavorful. If you're not familiar with the foods, I'd recommend making sure you get a few "safe" items like the cream bread or garlic bread. Ultimately, even though I wasn't crazy about most of what I tried, it was a cute little shop with a nice lady running it.

Definitely one of those places that keeps you thinking about the cookie long after you leave. Everything else in the bakery also looks amazing, but the cookies are absolutely the star of the show. It's not the bakery's fault, but it's definitely something customers should be aware of before visiting. Parking headache aside, this place is 100% worth the trip.

In terms of overall space, there's a connected lot with a decent amount of parking spots available which is great. There's also benches/stools outside so you can enjoy your treats while they're fresh. Pink Cake ($7, 4.5/5) - I liked how the "cake" base itself is more hearty (with corn as the main ingredient) - The buttercream is a very pretty pink, which matches the overall aesthetic of Comadre. It's a tad sweet, but works overall. Empanadas ($7 each, 5/5) - Great savory option! The filling consists of stewed chickpeas, poblano chilies, cheddar cheese. - Comes with a side of tomatillo sauce which adds some nice tang. Overall, really enjoyed our experience! I had just recently watched an Austin PBS episode that featured Comadre - would recommend checking the video out as it highlights a lot of the thought/consideration that goes into this business! We kept it simple -- fish cone with nutella and ube soft serve. We had the option of swirling it with a milk tea ice cream but it had a little bit of caffeine so no good. Glad the choice was made for us -- the ube was perfect on its own. Also happy we skipped the toppings since the creaminess really came through.
