Lone Star Kolaches is one of my favorite places to get Kolaches from when it comes to savory kolaches. The bread part is very good quality and the fillings are always good as well. They have a very large selection and not everything kolache they make is going to be to everyone's liking, but I usually go with the patty sausage and variations of that which are always team favorites or the big link Polish Sausage kolaches are amazing too. I like the fruit kolaches as well but frankly the ones in West Texas are my favorite. But these are good. Probably a 4 star on those fruit kolaches and a 5 stars on my favorite savory meat, egg, cheese, etc ones. I've shopped at the Parmer Lane and the one on West Anderson Lane and Burnet Rd and both are fantastic for me. read more

Thought the kolaches were okay. Chubby: not much flavor and needed more cheese or something Sausage Jalapeño Cheese: it's a skinny cocktail weenie w jalapeño and cheese. This was good They got our order incorrect - the bag had the correct receipt but inside, we had a mystery kolache and a chubby instead of 2 items we ordered. Definitely a bummer because we didn't like the chubby and couldn't figure out what the mystery one was - it wasn't good either. Looked like ground ham with a little cheese? Not sure. I also think that if you're ordering $3/$4 items, they need to have them identifiable. I don't want someone else opening up my kolache to figure out what it is, especially in our situation where we got things we didn't order- would've been nice to know what it was! read more

To be honest, I had mixed feelings about coming to this place due to a number of yelpers complaining about the quality of the goods here. However, my morbid fascination got the better of me, so I thought I'd check it out anyway. If you're looking for this place, it's on the south side of Parmer Lane located in the middle of a strip center. If you're looking for something to go on your early commute, they do open at 5:30 a.m., but they do not have a drive up window. I tried a sampling of five different items, and the unfrosted cinnamon roll tasted stale, and the other four items were good, just not great. If you're looking for something to get you going in the morning, this is a good stop and the prices are quite reasonable. I did not partake of the premade breakfast tacos under the heat lamp or the coffee. You'll also be pleased to know, that this is one of the few businesses where the tip screen will not be greeting you for for that last second cash grab after you run your card. From a previous review (unpublished draft)- Placed an order in grubhub for pickup in store today. Placing the order was pretty straightforward. Pickup was super easy as well. They didn't have coffee nor soda since there's a boil water notice for Austin water residents.. which they have no control over. So no drinks this time. They DO require masks. They heated the entire batch per my request when I entered the store. Everything is nice and hot even as I drove 10 minutes back to the house to munch on them. Love their stuff and staff. Food is consistent and OH SO GOOD. DEFINITELY coming back here again. read more

Stopped in for a treat not found in NM. This place is a favorite stop for kolaches. Great selection including BBQ, sausage, pizza, sausage, cheese & egg.... You get the idea. Get them heated and it makes for. Perfect breakfast on the go. Are there better kolaches? Not in Central Texas. This is one of the best places in town to get vegetarian kolaches. I stop here sometimes before work & bring a wide selection in for co-workers. The selection is huge. They have bean & cheese and cheese & jalapeño (both meatless). It's almost impossible to find that anywhere else. They also have some pastries, breakfast tacos, & fruit kolaches. Tried kolaches for the first time here. I got the omelette and the veggies kolaches. Service was quick and friendly. The kolaches were bigger than expected and one would have been enough for a quick, to-go breakfast. Raspberry cheese especially good with Ham and cheese per daughter. Polish with Kraut was in stock and tasty per husband. Jalapeño Cheese Polish also very good. This is closest location to lab for breakfast after fasting. Clean and some candy left after Halloween. read more

their tuscany chicken kolaches are delish and pretty much the only reason I would eat kolaches in the first place. it also earns them an extra star. their other kolaches are ok (3 stars) with the bacon egg and cheese being my next favorite for the savory taste. they also have sweet kolaches and I like that this chain offers the option to pair fruit with cream cheese. ps. not a huge fan of any polish sausage which is what i usually think of when someone says kolaches. so no slam on lone star for that--i wouldn't like those anywhere. :) read more

This was my first time trying Kolaches, and this location certainly had a large selection. I got the potato and bacon, along with the cream cheese. I recommend having them warmed to get the full flavor effect. Prices were reasonable, place was clean, and staff was friendly. This makes for a great breakfast or late morning snack! read more

Note to self: if you ever again think to make a quick stop here on your way out of town, DONT DO IT FOOL! It was total chaos at 9:30 on a Sat morning, with a long line of folks most of them making huge orders of "half a dozen this, 7 that, and 3.1415926 of the other". And the poor cashiers just can't keep up. We both got one savory and one sweet each but can't really tell the difference as all the dough is so cloyingly sweet. And the weenie on my sausage, cheese and "jalapeño" (literally one singular jalapeno slice) was just embarrassingly small, hiding in that large sweet bun. There was so much empty air around that thing. And of course everything would have been better warm but that wasn't even offered in the chaos. Cold, small weenies are just so underwhelming. Maybe they should have a coupla microwaves for public use? So yeah, note to self: continue on down to the Sonic or other mediocre fast food breakfast offering. My roommate used to bring a box of Lone Star Kolaches home from the office every other Friday - - one of his co-workers was a hot polish sausage kolache fan. We don't have kolaches in Michigan (where I'm from), so this was a new experience for me, but it only took one of those to hook me - - damn that dough tastes so good and sweet! So nowadays I make my way over to the Lone Star Kolaches whenever I'm looking to overcarb it. I like their selection, so much to choose from, but my favs are definitely the hot polish sausage, chocolate creme cheese, the "Chubby" (bacon, egg, potato, cheese), and the sausage+cheese+jalepeno. And I wash it all down w/ a Diet Coke and a handful of TUMS (tum...tum-tum-tum-TUMS!!!!). Can you believe they have a $5.00 all you can eat kolache lunch special (11a-1p)? To be honest, I don't think you could eat more than 3 or 4 in one sitting since there's so much dough. If you order a dozen to go you could easily pay $15 or more. They do offer discounts after 3pm (buy 6, get 6 free) as well as "day old dessert kolaches" packaged up for 1/2 price. Just stick them in the microwave and it's all good in the hood, but in my opinion the dough for these aren't as good as the hot dogs and sausage kolaches. This place is very clean, I've never seen it packed w/ customers, and they open and close early. The customer service is okay, nothing extraordinary, and it's quite common to walk into an empty store to find the employees hanging out in the back (probably basking in the sweet dough). That's one of the reasons why I rated it 3 stars, plus I still have to check out the competition - - which is supposedly better than Lone Star...(Kolache Shoppe)..? Hmm, we shall see! read more

Delicious!! I visited Texas a few years ago and was introduced to Kolaches, now that I'm back I had to get some!! I snuck out yesterday morning for some for me and my boyfriend, for under $10 I brought home 4. We had bacon egg and cheese, sausage egg and cheese, the chubby which had potatoes in it too, and the Ranchero which had jalapeños and ham. I stopped in for a quick kolache. It was one of those, "If I don't eat something right now I will pass out" moments. It was after noon so they had very little left to offer. I had a bacon, cheese and potato kolache because the thought of anything with egg just sitting out there kinda freaked me out. It was good - your standard kolache and decent filling. I can't say anything bad about it at all - but definitely not stand our or memorable in any way. I will continue to make the trek to the Kolache Factory when I really want one. read more

I wanted to surprise my family with breakfast so I stopped in to pick up some kolaches from this place. The store was clean and the staff was nice. The kolaches were stale. The tacos we got were TERRIBLE. The potatoes were full of oil and were a weird brown gray color. They tasted like old grease. The tortillas were wet and soggy. Great selection, quick service, and good flavor. The croissants are never quite crispy enough but the flavor is good. The kolache are very good and are pretty consistent. I will recommend the bean and cheese as a kolache that you may not try on first sight but is really tasty and filling. The spice level of kolache with jalapeños seems fairly variable - sometimes they're nice and spicy and then other times you'll get one that only has one jalapeño in it and it's much more mild. Note - I have not had the breakfast tacos so I cannot speak to that. read more

My favorite place to get Kolaches in Austin. The pastry they use is savory and just a little sweet. I like to get the sausage, cheese, and jalapeño kolaches as my main. The Ranchero kolaches are a great treat and probably the most popular item on the menu. The jalapeño poppers are great as well: pastry with cream cheese and jalapeño inside. Which is exactly what you would expect, but not in a kolache! Still very good. They are an inexpensive and convenient option for breakfast, just make sure you get there before 11am to make sure they don't run out of your favorite choices! read more

I got hard core food poisoning from the Palmer location. I ended up having go to urgent care and get hooked up to an IV. I had the Ranchero and a basic sausage one. I could not even eat the sausage one because the sausage inside was obviously a few days old. I know a guy that did some contract work for the woman who owns the franchise. Apparently she is very cheap, and I wouldn't be surprised if those things stayed on the shelf until they're sold, or that if one falls on the floor, they brush it off and stick it back. I lost two days of work because of her poisoned food. I feel as though she owes me. And I will definitely be going to the local news and reporting it to health inspection read more

I ordered a catering order here from my company. The lady over the phone was super nice and was easy to deal with. I can tell that they are a small company just trying to make it. However, The order came out right and everything but the delivery is what turned me off from them. They are down the street from us not far at all. The owner delivered them herself and I gave the lady on the phone instructions on how to get to our office because it can get tricky. The owner refused to bring the Kolaches upstairs to the office. I had to go down and get them. I asked her if she got lost or confused. She just said no and that she just didn't want to bring them all the way up. I was kind of shocked by that. I had to sign the reciept and bring all of the rest of the order up stairs. She was just overall rude and I won't order from them again. read more
