You'd think you'd feel right on top of other patrons, but Lucia figured out how to make it a personal intimate, in your own world experience. It's a great restaurant but not THAT great. So excited and happy we finally got to go. The food was so pretty and well thought out. It was above good, not super great. I'd say over rated but would still recommend. Start with the prosecco and olives, fresh bread and handmade butter, lean into the cured meats as if that's your thing then do it for sure with the prune and pate (not my thing but if it's for you then it's good, fresh, and highly rated). The pastas were made there, flavorful and I could eat that pumpkin squash plate forever and I don't even like pumpkin. That was the best thing there for sure. Sadly, the waygu was chewy and all I wanted was more of that dang pumpkin pasta. We tried two apps, three pastas and the waygu. Didn't bother with dessert since it was all good but not awesome. The family meals to go our the best we have had during quarantine. The process was very easy to order and pickup was a bit difficult just with traffic on Friday afternoon but they were accommodating to bring it out back to me as I had two small kids asleep in the car. Bishop arts just is busy without a lot of parking so be prepared. This weeks menu was chicken parmesan, pasta, arugula salad with green goddess dressing, bread/butter and lemon pound cake. My husband and I both agreed it was the best chicken parmesan we have ever had. We ate the meal for several meals, but as its us + 2 small kids, we still managed to freeze half the pasta and the chicken parmesan. The salad was a great balance, the mix of seeds really added to the salad. The bread and butter alone made me really happy. The cake, pasta, and chicken parmesan were LOVED by my 4 year old. I loved the pasta had a different herb butter sauce and was just drowned in red sauce. We will definitely do it again, wish we lived closer. We were looking forward to coming here for the past 3 months. That's how long it was till the next possible availability. Originally we just really wanted to just pop in and have a drink and dessert but they don't do takeout. The only real disappointment was that they took away the few courses we waited all that time to try including the dessert and replaced it all with new things (which I usually like about restaurants) but that leaves other people missing out when this place is all booked up several months with no alternative to takeout. The recent menu is okay. Hardly vegetarian besides the few appetizers I posted and some overpriced basic pasta that we passed on. The best thing was the toast but the cracker appetizer is rather basic to me it reminds me of a cracker and cheese board with all the toppings preloaded on there for you. I think this restaurant may be a little over-hyped due to the limited reservation system. Been there twice now, once for the $75 tasting menu which featured dry rabbit dishes and barely any pastas, and the second time for an a la carte pasta meal to celebrate my birthday. The service was a bit odd for being such a nice restaurant. Our waiter dropped and shattered my plate right next to my foot and then took our order for dessert when my friend had pre-arranged a birthday surprise (poor communication). Another guy cleared our plates while I was still eating and then said "oh..do you want this back?" after it had been stacked with other dirty dishes. Just overall very sub par service. The restaurant has made quite a name for itself in Dallas, not just for the food but for the long wait for table reservations. I made reservations 2 months out and hyped myself up so much during that time that maybe I set myself up for a little disappointment. The service was really fantastic and genuinely hospitable. The wine list can be intimidating but the staff will patiently walk you through the different wines and offer tastings before you devote yourself to a glass or a bottle. The kitchen is slightly open creating an inviting atmosphere where you feel welcome. I shivered as I sat in the direct path of the air vent and the hostess noticed and bumped the air up for me. That was so incredibly, above and beyond and really allowed me to be present and fully enjoy my experience at Lucia. The house bread and butter came out first and I had to remind myself to pace myself, as I was going to be ordering a lot of food. We started with the salumi misti and I have to say, this was the highlight of the meal, and it's also what they're known for. I've never had such inventive, resourceful and imaginative cuts of cured meat in my life. The fois gras prunes were not the best I've had but were good and were very generously stuffed with the fois gras. Second was a spring plate of gnocchi and ricotta agnolotti. The gnocchi was my second favorite part of the meal. It was bright and flavorful in it's green garlic and marcona almond pesto. The gnocchi cooked perfectly and each one was so light. The stuffed pasta was served alongside lava beans and shaved cured tuna heart over the top in a light sauce. It was good, and the pasta was made well. Third were mains. We had the scallops and the short rib. The short rib with yogurt, red peppers and shallots was supposed to be medium rare but it went a bit over that. Still the flavor was good and the meat for the most part was tender. The scallops were really lovely in their creamy sauce with peas and potatoes. We finished with decaf coffee, which was really excellent, and dessert. The walnut semifreddo with pears and rosemary was every bit of sweet indulgence you could ask for and the buttermilk panna cotta had an irresistible tang that was cut by sweet, tart rhubarb. My husband and I decided to make a date night at a local restaurant called Lucia. I don't know if you guys have ever been there, but it takes about 2 months to get a reservation! I put in my reservation for July in May! WHAT WE ORDERED: For starters, they bring out homemade sourdough bread with fresh butter and sea salt. I love bread and this is seriously some of the best that I've ever had. The sea salt butter really kicks it up a notch! For an appetizer, we ordered the Merry Goat Round with arugula. Fantastic! PRIMI: We ordered two primi courses: Risotto bianco with shrimp, pancetta, and corn Gnocchi with basil pesto, Texas red potato, and green beans: The gnocchi was by far my favorite thing that we ordered! Definitely give it a try! I'm not a huge fan of risotto so I'm not sure why I ordered it, but it was still delicious. If you're not a huge risotto fan either, then give this a try and it might change your mind! SECONDI: We ordered A Bar N Wagyu coulotte with Texas purple hull peas, kohlrabi, soubise & salsa verde. The meat was so tender and juicy and cooked just the way I like it! I've been yearning for authentic Italian and not the commercial crap with cheesy decor. I was starting to lose faith that I'd find good Italian in DFW. Look no further than Lucia. If there is someone doing it better I want to know NOW. I started with the Salumi misti then had the Foie Gras stuffed prune. The star of the show were the Taglierini cacio e pepe AND the Smoked lamb sweetbread/ricotta ravioli with cippolini, brown butter and sage. One of the very best but the hardest place to get reservation. We made reservations in May for an opening in July. We came with 2 other friends so we can order more food to share! For antipasti, we ordered the "scallop crudo with casaba melon, arugula, lemon, coriander & marigold mint" and "Saffron and ciccioli arancini with Taleggio fondit à and marinated eggplant." The scallops were top quality fresh and matched nicely with the salad. It was a great appetizer because the flavor of the Scallops was light and the tangy vegetable made it a perfect summer dish. The ciccioli (the fried pork rice ball) was cooked to perfection. The saffron rice will not disappoint you. We ate the scallops first then the saffron rice so it won't over power the scallops. For the first course, we ordered the squid ink pasta and Gnocchi. The squid ink pasta was a bit salty, but still very flavorful. The gnocchi was perfectly cook in firmness and the sauce was rich and creamy. We ordered all four second courses. We ate the cod first because it is light in flavor. The fish was firm and fresh. The sauce was unique with rich. The lamb and the pork are good. However, what worth highlight was the short rib. The server explained to us that the short rib was slow cooked for 48 hours and then grilled. The meat was s soft that we did not have to use a knife to part the meat. On top of that, the meat paired well with the fresh salad. A must order item if you are planing a visit. To finished up the meal, we picked the famous cannoli and semifreddo! Wow. Best Italian food and best meal I've had thus far in Dallas. We read online they have a couple seats at the bar for walk ins. We rolled the dice and tried for a walk in at 6:15PM and got lucky! We got an aperol spritz and a brown butter old fashioned. Aperol was classic, the old fashioned was delicious and you could actually taste the brown butter which was interesting and different, very good. We started with the sourdough and half dozen oysters. The bread was so good. The oysters were from eastern Canada and they had a mignonette sauce that was absolutely knock out. Could have eaten two dozen more of these oysters. We then got two pasta dishes (these change all the time). One was a capellacci with butternut squash and this ham similar to pancetta which was very good and then a fusi istriani which was hands down top 3 pastas I've ever had. Our meal total was $150 and that included a 20% gratuity which was automatically included. All in all this place is a 10/10 in my book. Outstanding. read more

My first time in their new location - vibes are medium, definitely not as warm and charmingly Tuscan as their old spot. Their bar is extremely sub-par, they had almost no tequila or rum to speak of. I have been to the old location a number of times before and have thought it was fantastic every time, although the place is very uppity which is offputting. The waitress came over and we asked some questions about the menu - the steak dish sounded good. She mentioned that the chef recommended it medium rare and I asked if they would do it medium and she replied that the chef recommended it medium rare. I don't care what the chef recommends, I am the one eating it and paying for it, not the chef and not the waitress. Burn my steak to ashes if I ask, it's not their food. And then a question about a pasta - I asked what are the chances they could do it without oysters in the sauce, to which the waitress replied with an abrupt and annoying grin, "Zero!". Just lose the attitude and thinking the restaurant is that cool. We settled on some pastas to share and asked for advice on the portions. They have apparently modified their portion sizing a little bit and encouraged us to split 3 pastas...don't do it! They are trying to push food on you, 3 was way too many especially after having an appetizer. And then the pasta sauce was overly watery and not the quality I expected from a reputable place like this. Get more liquor, don't push food and don't be uppity. read more

Now that we are empty nesters, the wife and I have been taking long weekend culinary adventures. We live north of Houston, so a trip to Dallas is not too difficult. Lucia has been on our list for a while, but the new reservations system using Resy allowed for us to get a reservation and plan a trip. One of the things I look for in a restaurant is how comfortable the seating is for a party of two. Lucia is a small place, but the two tops give you just enough room that you don't really feel like you are dining with your neighbors as a party of 6. Overall the feel, service and vibe of the restaurant earns 5 stars and is exactly what a "destination" restaurant should provide. On to the food. The complimentary olives and bread course were above average. The green olives were especially good as they were not as tart as some I have had. Just a good olive flavor. When it was time to order, we decided on one antipasta plate, two small primi plates and two entrees. Our antipasta dish was the "Tomato Bread" with Nduja and garlic (5/5) - Outstanding. The Nduja gave just the right amount of spice and the heirloom tomatoes piled on the thick sourdough bread were excellent. For the pasta dishes, we ordered the Fettucini with Clams and breadcrumbs (5/5) and the Fusilli with Pork Ragu (3/5) - The Fettucini and clams dish was the perfect blend of al dente pasta, flavorful clams, and a great texture addition provided by the breadcrumbs. The broth was light but full of flavor. Points off for the Fusilli with Pork Ragu. Just too salty to really get the flavor of the pork to come through. The pasta was well cooked however. For the main courses, we ordered the Arctic char with fava beans and peas (5/5) - I have never had fava beans before, but will order them as often as possible in the future based on this dish. The fish was cooked to perfection with very crispy skin. The favas and peas in the balsamic vinaigrette were an excellent accompaniment. The other main we ordered was the 48 hour sous vide grilled Wagyu short rib (3/5) - Points off here for underseasoning (the opposite of the pork ragu pasta). The sous vide and then grilled preparation comes out more as a steak than a traditional braised short rib. That being said, the dish fell a little flat due to a lack of seasoning. For dessert, we had the Buttermilk Panna Cotta (3.5/5). I'm certainly not a Panna Cotta expert, but I'm pretty sure this was not a properly set panna cotta. Very soupy. Good flavor though. All in all a very good time. We were a little surprised by the two dishes that sort of missed the mark, but the experience was one that will rate a return visit at some point. read more

Five-star reviews don't come often from me. And to be honest, I am a person who likes to be pampered, and Lucia doesn't pamper. On the contrary, Lucia has people beating down the door to get in, so they make the rules. Case in point: I arrived first out of my party of four on a Wednesday night. I asked to sit outside, but noticed that it was becoming chilly as I drank my (lovely) glass of Prosecco. Part of my party encountered traffic and was late, so that at 6:15, a full fifteen minutes after my original reservation time, they still hadn't arrived. The two of us that had arrived asked if we could be moved indoors (ample seating was available) and we were, quite bruskly, told no. We had already requested an outdoor table and apparently our indoor table had been given away. I had made the reservation 2 months before... And they don't use Opentable, another inconvenience for the customer. But I digress. It's nice to be pampered. But that's not the #1 priority when dining out, is it? The numero uno priority for the diner is the food. Flavor, presentation, variety, freshness, quality. Lucia excels at each and every one. I tried every dish at my table. Every dish was exquisite. In particular, the cocoa sourdough crostini. Wow. Every bite exceeds the last in powerful flavors, competing for your attention. The charred tomato bread was just as good. The gnocchi will not disappoint--light, little squishy puffs of garlic-scented heaven. The cod--there is no type-able adjective to describe the (G-rated) flavor-induced moan that will escape your lips at the first taste. Thank you, Dallas. Reservations are hard to come by here and for good reason. The food here is stellar. We tried: Foie gras stuffed prunes - Definitely get one. At $1 a piece it's certainly worth it and it's deliciously decadent. Burrata tomato salad - Such a simple dish, but very well executed and the burrata was outstanding. Beef heart tartare - If the thought of beef heart scares you - don't worry, it basically tastes like beef tartare. The flavors here were on point and I was a big fan of the dish (though tbh don't think I've had a bad beef tartare in Dallas). Salad - Super simple salad, basically just pieces of leaves, but somehow it worked. Pasta - The pasta we got was a delight. Extremely tasty and perfect chewiness of the noodles. I'm typically not the biggest fan of pasta but I couldn't help myself from eating more of this. Definitely the standout. For dessert we had the bombolini and this chocolate panna cotta. The desserts were kind of a letdown for me after such a stellar meal although others enjoyed them. I booked 60 days ago and I was finally able to try the restaurant this past week. Lucia is a small restaurant. It seats about 36 people. The restaurant is located in my favorite neighborhood, Bishop Arts. They seem to change their menu everyday. It looks like they put a lot of thought into the food and wine selection. The food looks like it's made in house. For the appetizer we had bread with a ricotta cheese spread with a hint of mint and rhubarb, onion, and scallions on top. The appetizer was the highlight for me. There were so many diverse, strong flavors that just go so well together. They make their pasta the day of. I had pasta with duck. For our dessert, we had a ginger tart and gelato. Dinner was excellent. Everyone at the restaurant look like they were enjoying themselves. When I come back here, I'm definitely going to get wine and try different pasta dishes and just enjoy myself and the company I bring. This place is no where close to the the hype. 50 minute drive. Pasta was gummy. Most everything drenched in oil and weird flavor such as the cucumber melon appetizer. My friends were gracious enough to let me and my boyfriend join them for a reservation they had for a month. Service was great. It was a Tuesday night so nothing crazy. Everything so fresh and phenomenal. For our secondi, we enjoyed the wagyu steak, roast chicken breast, and cod. Yummy yummy yummy. All paired perfectly with three bottles of wine. Read about this place in an article and was super excited to give this place a try. Booked reservations a month in advance for the 9:30pm slot. The day finally came and I had really high expectations due to the great reviews I've been reading leading up to this night. To start off, service was super great. Staff members were nice. Place is really small and cramped so the place was really loud and kind of uncomfortable. Food was disappointing. We waited roughly 15-20 mins before each serving. We got an app, two pasta dishes, two entrees, and a dessert. When the food finally did come out, it was lukewarm and not even hot. I guess the manager felt bad that between each serving we had to wait so long that they gave us the desert for free. We got oysters.... Don't get it. It wasn't fresh. Tagliatelle and another pasta dish that had eggplants. Tagliatelle was good but don't get the other dish. Breadcrumbs on it made it taste as if you're eating dirt. We also got the wagyu and lamb. Both were okay but definitely not worth the price. Wagyu was super fatty and lamb was slightly better but not impressive. Finally the desert we got the Panna Cotta. Taste like something you could have gotten at the supermarket. Luckily, we got it for free. Overall, not worth the hype. read more

Bishop Arts. "Popular resource for creative Italian fare " (Yelp) 2 1/2 - 3 month wait list. Those three aspects alone heightened my 'want' to get in and see what all the fuss was about. Surprisingly I popped onto the reservation site & there was an opening - an apparent rare cancellation - so I jumped on the opportunity. Party of 4 - check 8:30 - check Dark, quaint & noisy we entered in on this chilly evening and were greeted by a young lady. She handed me a wine list immediately upon arrival & directed some of my party to their respective 'rest' areas. As I waited in the small entry area of the restaurant, the manager approached me. Friendly & relaxed we chatted about the wine. I decided to sample the three bottles that are served by the glass & to choose one to order a bottle. When my party rejoined me in the entry, the Manager directed us to the Dude Sweet Chocolatier across the breezeway to wait for our table & have some samples - this sampling was THE BEST part of anything I put in my mouth moving forward with the evening - unfortunately. When we were gathered back to the restaurant, we were seated at a great table by the front window. Our waiter met us almost immediately - and for the record up front, was very attentive all evening. We sampled the three wines as I had planned, picked one - ordered three in the end. Our waiter began spilling out at a fair clip what he thought we should order (we'd never been after all). There was one dish he said 'everyone needs to have in their life' (we ordered it) It was unclear to begin with but apparently, this is a meal in courses type place - though it seemed some people weren't actually 'doing' that - were we duped into thinking it was the standard procedure? Not sure. There were four of us. He made his suggestions, we had our conversation about it while he was away from the table & made our final selections as follows (sorry I cannot remember the specific names of the dishes) Antipasta Selections: The Cheese Plate - had a side of greens with quince. A Cured Meat with some greens & a little more cheese. A green salad. Primi Selections: Pasta with squash in a brown butter sauce. Gnocchi something or other. Secondi Selections: Duck Scallops Dolci Selections: A Chocolate bar-type dessert with a crust & whipped cream Olive Oil Cake with whipped cream There was nothing I put in my mouth that I felt I would need to write home about or even taste again. The rustic bread & fresh butter at the onset of the meal were the highlight for me - but this fell second to our dinner conversation & the company along with a sweet significant 'tie' to the olives served as we initially sat. I can now say I've been - and I never need to go back. Certainly I will not bother trying their soon to come restaurant addition in the same area for surely it will be more hype and less flavor. I think I cook a better tasting dish. Re-think your visit - $$$$ read more

The food was over the top delicious!! Definitely get the salumi board! The pasta is handmade, pillowy light with lots of fresh ingredients that will make your mouth water for more! The service was impeccable! read more
