    Matcha latte with croissant
    Emily W.

Always busy here, most of the pastry is sold out by noon. The matcha is great and croissant has equal flaky texture. Need to arrive early to try their other pastry options...

The line was already forming when we arrived just ten minutes before opening. This charming little patisserie serves beautifully crafted pastries that are well worth the wait. There was nothing plain about the butter croissant. Its delicate, flaky layers and crisp, golden exterior gave way to a rich, buttery center. The traditional quiche, served warm, was the perfect start to an early Sunday morning. A light, fluffy egg custard was filled with tender bites of potato, bacon, and melted cheese, in a perfectly crisp, buttery puff pastry crust. The Paris Brest is a must order. If you're a pistachio lover, prepare to fall even harder after the very first bite. The nutty, creamy filling is decadent without being too sweet. Next time I'm going to try their pate.

I've definitely stopped at or passed by Maison Nico on the way to another venue before but never bought anything. I changed that during my weekend pastry crawl with some girl friends. This was the second spot on our prowl for SF's finest pastries. I got a plain croissant and a canelé to try a couple of the classics, and they were divine! I devoured the canelé on the spot and snacked on the croissant as we continued our walk. Both were sooo yummyyy and ended up being my fave pastries from the entire day out.

Madison Nico is in the heart of financial center a few blocks away from trans American bldg. We decided to try them out per recommendation from a friend, as we were walking through the area, we opted to take a break here. Settled on a cup of Americano and cappuccino along with a couple of rolls. They have a few tables inside as well as outside. The setting is authentic with a cozy feeling; loved the break walls inside. You order at the counter and get seated for your order. They were very efficient with serving our order. The croissant was very delicious and the coffee beans were of high quality. They have savory and sweet options for food orders and we may try the savory next time. A place to definitely try again.

I came is here because I wanted a cup of coffee before getting to the lunch place that I was planning to eat at. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was delightfully well-made with good foam. The service was quick, and the bathroom was clean and accessible. They also had a delightful selection of baked goods that I will definitely come back to sample. Ambiance was very upscale.

To no surprise, there was already a line when I arrived at 9:20am Sunday. Not too bad though, it took about 10 minutes to get inside the bakery and peruse the goods. Everything looked picturesque and delectable. I was in a rush that morning so I snagged one plain croissant, which I read rave reviews about. No seats available but I found standing room at a long counter. It was a very delicious croissant. Flaky, buttery, and soft. Wish I had time to try everything else.

Americano - unexpectedly really loved this coffee. Acidity and bitterness is very balanced, and it tastes very smooth. Pain au chocolat - nice, very crisp top, perhaps I could use a little bit more chocolate, but I enjoyed it Croissant - excellent, great flavor, rise, and structure Brioche feuilletee - this was the most special to me! I've never had this before. It's like a croissant loaf with a slightly sweet exterior, really enjoyed this and happy you can get it by the slice (which is quite thick)

Stopped by on a Friday around 3 PM, and of course, most items were already sold out. We sat outside for our first visit and got two original croissants, which were quite disappointing. While they had a good flake, they were served cold and tasted dry. On the bright side, their mocha was pretty good but probably won't come here just for coffee.

Great location, limited interior seating with outdoor tables available. 4 types of pastry only- I ordered a Yuzu Jasmine Choux and even though the filling was rich, I probably would not return just for the pastries.

Had to come here for the beautifully laminated croissants after TikTok convinced me it was a must-stop on my San Francisco trip. I grabbed a chocolate croissant, regular croissants, and a couple canelés. The space is small but absolutely beautiful, with indoor and outdoor seating plus fresh flowers near the register that added such a nice touch. The staff was kind and helpful, and it was really fun watching the pastry chefs working through the bakery window.

I am glad i stumbled upon this bakery during my walk. Best quiche I have ever had! The person that helped me was really nice and answered all my questions about the pastries.

Maison Nico is a solid French bakery with unique pastries, and on the few occasions that I have come there has always been a line but the line moves relatively fast. My go to order to get is always the chocolate croissant and the pâté which is smooth and rich. I usually order this when I go and try and snag a spot inside though there is often minimal to no seating and only about three little tables inside and outside. While the pate is delicious and absolutely unique, I do feel that the croissant and pastry based goods are not as great or fluffy and delicate as Arsticault bakery which for me is my holy grail standard for solid croissants and pastries. The pastries also were on the colder side and not as warm despite coming relatively early in the day.

Cool little joint, nice staff, not very many places to sit, so just be aware of that. Probably the best quiche and canele I've ever had. Food was excellent. Mocha Latte was very good as well. Highly recommend

Before the meal started, we were served a small cup of corn soup. It was so intensely corny in the best way possible. It's sweet, creamy, and comforting. Loved it. The bluefin tuna was incredibly fresh, and the portion was generous. I also really enjoyed the zucchini, which added different textures to this dish and made it more interesting. The mackerel was delicious. The skin had this rich, gelatinous texture that I personally loved, and the flavors were super satisfying. The only dish that was a little disappointing was the pork ballotine. It looked incredibly tender and juicy, but it ended up being a bit drier than I expected. Dessert was definitely the highlight of the meal. I had never tried chamomile ice cream before, and it was such a pleasant surprise. It paired beautifully with the caramelized white chocolate, which added a rich, milky sweetness, and I loved the crunchy texture throughout the dish. The warm pistachio paste brought everything together perfectly. So, so good!

Now it's sixteen years later. After an early start to a Sunday Valkyries game, my friend brought us here for a post game dinner. After finding a parking space a block away, we walked up a little after 6:30 pm. When I reached the entrance, I noticed the sketch board and wrote my name below the names and guest numbers already there. When I asked the hostess, she told me it was likely a twenty to thirty minute wait. The dining room was packed as well as the sidewalk tables and outdoor dining structure. Being hungry and antsy, I walked the various tables to observe the service progression to estimate when we'd be seated. About 35 minutes later, we were seated at the sidewalk table next to the entrance and given menus. It's been a while so a menu study was needed. After some discussion, we decided on our meals and agreed to share bites of each other's food. First came the Acme French baguette and butter (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=b_xeRM764lejQiCnELp7OA), a necessary vehicle to sop any gravy or sauce. Two of us had the French onion soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=rJ9tQeC9Al9A0yCiHnA3Fw); it was as I remember, hearty broth chocked with tasty onions with gooey stretchy cheese underneath a nicely browned top. Their staple is consistent with what I remember. My friend ordered the Les Moules 24, poulette (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=ZgxJSrYmiEuwipp8uvkJHA), garlic, shallots, bacon, white wine, cream, parsley; the mussels were good, most if not all opened shells in a variety of sizes. The sauce or broth is the key especially with the baguette slices to enjoy the delicious flavors. For my main meal, i had the pork chop (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=tk0gypyufB2AL0olq-KPHA), Brussels sprouts, bacon, apple cider mustard sauce, suggested and cooked medium; I really enjoyed this as it had a nice outside sear while the meat was tender and still juicy after I cut in. The flavors from the accompaniments paired well and the portions were generous. In fact, a fellow diner mostly ate the accompaniments as our shared format in trying the other dishes filled my tummy. I tried a few bites of my friend's roasted duck confit, French fries (subbed from potatoes gratin), haricot vert, port reduction; sorry, no photo as this disappeared relatively quickly; the duck was tender and fork tender with a smoky flavor as it came right off the bone. I also tried another diner's fettucine, creamy white wine sauce, mushrooms (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=X5em6PctUtXUbiuM7uLmPg); the balance of sauce to pasta was perfect and you know me and mushrooms. It was tasty and is definitely hearty, portions and taste wise. As we dined, more diners added their names to the wait list until there were only two names left when we left around 8:30 pm. The guests were a mix of neighborhood locals and sports fans who came from events since Chase Center and Oracle Park are nearby. I saw a table with guys wearing Giants and Braves jerseys. Thanks to J. Garen who waited on our table and the bus staff who cleared empty plates and bowls and refilled out water glasses. Big thanks for Naomi, the hostess, who kept all waiting guests updated and kept a watchful eye to make sure the tables turn efficiently. As we left, we greeted waiting guests in Valkyries jerseys and we briefly talked about the game and, of course, gave our "Go Valks" cheer. Looking forward to our next meal here.

We have tried all sorts of dishes and our selections rarely miss the mark. The choose-your-own adventure style of the menu is perfect for couples who like to sample multiple things. Favorites include the glazed oysters, branzini fish, filet of beef. Absolutely must try the chocolate soufflé. I am partial to the cheese cart but could skip this if you're not super hungry as the timing of this is right before the rest of desserts come, and you will definitely need to leave some room. The take-home treat for the morning is such a special and appreciated touch. This SF institution is one of the greats.

My favorite thing about this restaurant is how they do their tasting menu. 1) not everyone in your party has to order the same amount of dishes. They will time the dishes as best as they can so no one is sitting there awkwardly without food in front of them. 2) there's no real structure to the tasting menu. You can order all main courses or all desserts, it's up to you! I usually do 1 started, 1 seafood, and 1 meat dish and I'm stuffed. We usually have one person order one more course so we can all share a dessert. But if you don't have a strong sweet tooth, they do give small complementary dessert bites at the end. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and plated beautifully! The staff was attentive and the vibe of the restaurant felt elegant without trying too hard.

LOVED Cote Ouest Bistro!!!…read more I can sum it up in ONE SENTENCE: EVERYONE (from customers to staff) was happy to be here! The place was full of people happy to be eating in a bistro that feels welcoming and comfortable...especially with a nice outdoor patio set up with music at the perfect volume to enjoy good food and good conversation... ...and the staff seemed happy as well, as if they were inviting you into their home. It really was as if friends were pouring you wine and serving you food straight from the heart. SPEAKING OF FOOD... just fantastic French fare! Everything you love, from Onion Soup to Duck Confit can be found on the menu. I went for the Serrano Ham, Oeufs Mayonnaise, and the Steak Frites and devoured every bite between sips of Rosé. I try to eat low carb but couldn't resist their (free) bread service... which I complimented, and got the following reaction, "Want more?" It was an offer I couldn't refuse! Ended the meal in the perfect way with Creme Brûlée then walked off into the night with my wallet none too worse for wear. Vive le Cote Ouest Bistro!!!

The lady servicing water kept coming to do refills - without me asking - that's incredible service for a small place with limited staff. The duck confit exceeded my expectations. I loved the bread and butter. The Salmon was rare and very tasty . The cauliflower was well flavored and mixed very well with the other ingredients. We didn't have enough room for dessert - I will come back to try the French onion soup and mussels in white wine.

The French cuisine is still featured, but there is a new sign and awning for TD. As well as the delicious new food! I have lived on the 500 block for 16 years and this is an amazing add to the neighborhood. We've never had our own authentic taqueria this close. And I can tell you that the tortillas here are LEGIT. On to the experience. The staff is awesome, you will be well attended here. You can order at the register, but there is full wait service. The interior retains the French look, and has added some Mexican touches. There is a parklet outside. In the dining room, there are large open windows with bar seating. A true indoor / outdoor spot. On to the food. I got the Al Pastor tacos, which are traditional street style, though they were nice enough to add cheese to the tortillas. Red and green salsa on the side, and I'm told they're looking into a spicy sauce as well. Open on Friday and Saturday until Midnight. Check www.divistaqueria.com for their weekly hours and menu. Directly across the street from both Emporium and Independent on Divis. And a delicious lunch if you're in NOPA. Place will blow up and couldn't happen to better people. Get ready for this business!!

Amazing french food here!! *chefs kiss*…read more Found this gem when we were heading to the Independent for a concert but was early and decided to grab a bite as my boyfriend suggested this spot after seeing it on Yelp close by. The server sat us down and gave us menus right away with ice waters. The interior was nice and cozy with French music and decor. We shared both the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Champagnarde Galette and both were wonderful. The presentation on both were elegant and appetizing. The flavors and textured worked well in both dishes and the portions were satisfying. My boyfriend also ordered a glass of wine he enjoyed. I would love to come back and try their different dishes as I had a hard time decided since everything sounded so delicious! Great dinner spot, felt like a mini getaway.
