I finally made it out here In the summertime, aka the best time to come because they have their cobblestone outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant that makes you feel like you're dining in Europe! This is definitely another place in the north end that needs weeks in advance reservation but the vibes of it were really cute! I got the rabbit pasta and my friend had the corn ravioli. Both noodles tasted very fresh and the ravioli was surprisingly filling for not a lot of pieces because of how stuffed it is. The rabbit pasta in my opinion was good but it was my first time trying rabbit and it wasn't my favorite. It's a lot gamier than chicken and I would have rather had a different meat. The bread with pesto was phenomenal though! We ordered Aperitivi (pre-dinner drinks), the Tintoretto and the Spritzer Autumnale. For the Antipasti we ordered the Carpaccio, which melted in our mouths. We experienced a private dining experience like none other as we were greeted by our server from Romania. I can't recall her name but she was incredible. I called ahead and was told outdoor seating is available on a first come first server basis. Upon arrival I was greeted by a bearded gentleman in a sports coat who informed me that outdoor seating was not available for at least 30 minutes despite the fact that I could see three empty tables. When I informed him that I would be happy to wait he told me to go ahead and leave and come back in 30 minutes and if a table is available at that time, he would let me know. He was very condescending in his tone the entire time. Since they were booked for seats at least 2 weeks out I decided to stay so I could experience the food. I ordered a pasta dish and it was absolutely delicious. The waiter was pleasant. The restaurant is very nice inside. The bartenders are excellent. They are on top of everything if you're sitting at the bar. The osso buco is delicious. The burrata and pit fruit app is very good. I came here last night for a friend's birthday and the food as absolutely phenomenal. She made a week-of reservation and was able to grab an 8pm reservation. Upon entering, they offer coat check. The ambiance inside was nice and quiet, with light music playing in the background. The restaurant was well lit, which I enjoyed (sometimes restaurants are way too dark inside ). The bread served was undoubtedly freshly baked and cut - very nice and fluffy. It was paired with a generous amount of olives and extremely delicious pesto! We asked for more of everything because of how delicious it was. I personally ordered the Pasta Con Sugo. The noodles were perfectly chewy and firm - I really loved the thickness of it. There was a great meat to sauce ratio. I also loved how the noodles stayed hot due to the way it was served / plated. Definitely would come again! Mama Mia, Mama Maria is the best alfresco dining in the North End!!! There weren't many good things that came from the Covid 19 pandemic but outdoor (alfresco) dining is one of them. The North End restaurants were hit hard by the Covid Lockdown but most of them weathered the storm and the North End is back and better than ever. The alfresco dining has transformed the North End into Venice Italy. It's lit every night; so vibrant and alive. A stark contrast to to the barren streets of April 2000. Mama Maria has capitalized on the alfresco dining craze by utilizing the adjacent courtyard which is quite large. Because it is off of Hanover, it provides a more intimate and quiet outdoor experience. Coupled with Michelin grade service, and excellent food Mama Maria would be my choice for a special occasion or impress your date night on the North End. The culinary standouts from which we sampled were the duck appetizer and the ravioli duo but everything was very good. It's pricy for the North End which is the downside but the service is better than most in the area. Short version- over priced but not over hyped. Great food. No reason for it to cost that much. My girlfriend and I decided on this place after extensive research on the Italian options in the north end. After drooling over the menu for a while we finally decided on the lobster agnolotti and osso bucco. The lobster agnolotti was good- just good. Nothing to write home about. Definitely not worth the $42 price tag. For $20 I would've been happy with it. The osso bucco was really good. Still not a show stopper in my opinion but I would absolutely eat it again and again. I live in Champaign, IL currently and the food options there are AWFUL- however for half the price at a local bar I can get an osso bucco that would give mamma Maria a run for her money! The service was polite and inviting but kind of slow. Took the waiter a good chunk of time to come back around to take our order after bringing our drinks and even longer to bring out the check. Cute tables and a great location. I usually don't complain about prices in yelp reviews but I really felt like this was just outrageous for what you get. I'm sure there are plenty of local spots that you can get food of the same quality without having to pay for the name. I just left Mamma Maria and I'm already planning my next excuse to return here. Today was my beloved roommates birthday and we planned a surprise dinner for her at this beautiful Italian restaurant centrally located at the heart of the North End. All the words cannot describe evening that we had at Mamma Maria I will try my best to give it justice. We got there right at our reset time and because it was slightly chilly outside we asked if we could be seated inside. They ended not having any availability inside, but I appreciated that they went in and still tried to accommodate us. Our server Luis was AMAZING. He made our table feel beyond special and welcomed all questions we had about the menu. In fact he was so good that we all ordered the same drink at our table and it was perfect! For appetizers we ordered the grilled octopus/ calamari, fig plate, and the oysters. They were all perfectly seasoned and cooked. The birthday girl who usually doesn't like seafood loved the octopus and calamari. I think it had a sweet balsamic vinaigrette. For entree I ordered the sweet corn ravioli (yes it has corn and yes it is sweet). This pasta was the perfect portion for someone trying to avoid too many carbs while also enjoying a delicious meal. Three and a half stars! I'll lead by saying I'm a tough critic: having been raised between the US and Italy (Umbria), I wish "Italian" food in the states could be called what it actually is - Italian-American. Ambiance was lovely, very cozy and intimate with an eclectic array of Italianate inspired decor. Wine list was also top and I understand changes monthly. Really great that they offer half-bottles, too, so you can try a broader range of wines with less of a hit to the wallet. Food was more on the American side of Italian-American cuisine (baked stuffed oysters?) Pesto spread on the table was delicious as was the tomato sugo on the tortelloni_burrata is burrata is burrata pretty much anywhere you go. Loved the addition of lemon zest cream with the short rib gnocchi - it cuts an otherwise rich dish. biggest complaints would be the gnocchi itself were overcooked (read: mushy) and the tortelloni and lamb chops undercooked (read: cardboardesque/exceedingly rare). Limoncello was pure sugar Service also seemed a bit disorganized_we came for our anniversary and the couple next to us (I think actually work colleagues based on conversation) were surprised when a complimentary desert came that said Happy Anniversary on it. Server was however patient and attentive for a busy Friday night. Would I come back? Probably not. Can I imagine the average American diner would love this? Absolutely! read more

Highly recommend the Rabbit if you are feeling adventurous, it was amazing. Drinks: They have a good wine selection so we split a bottle of Syrah. Overall, would definitely recommend. Mamma, there goes that man! Mamma Mia! Here we go again. Mamma Maria, doesn't have a slogan yet, but it should. By far the best meal in the North End. If a restaurant changes their menu daily, it's a good sign. There's no messing around here, so don't even think about stepping foot on this hallowed ground if you're not locked in. Sublime, transcendent, and incandescent are words I use to describe my own basketball skills, but they fit here as well. We had the Lobster Agnolotti to start and I had the Venison prepared two ways.
