Call me hooked!! Maple Lead Diner has been on my radar to try for so long. I can't believe it's taken me this many years to finally give them a try! They use Yelp's waitlist where you can plug your name in, and make your way over when your spot in line is pretty close. Efficient system overall. You will wait on the weekends, but don't let that deter you. The inside ambiance is classic, nostalgic diner style with big red booths and bright lights. The staff is courteous and made us feel very welcome, despite the incredibly busy restaurant. The food. Wow. Best chicken and waffles I've ever had. And I've had a lot. It comes stacked with crispy chicken tenders, bacon, fresh strawberries, and delicious maple syrup on the side. I was impressed by the deliciousness of the latte here. The cream was so fluffy! My husband ordered the pumpkin pancakes and they were also a hit! We will be back again and again. read more

Brought a friend after yoga for lunch and what a good time. Large portions of anything on the menu. I ordered the chicken sandwich which came with 3 cheese sticks! No one bad bite the chicken was moist and crispy with all the trimmings and the house dill dressing and banana peppers. Service was great. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Their chicken and waffles was amazing. The chicken was full of flavor and the waffles were fluffy. Christina was an absolute joy to have as our server. Hands down the best breakfast I've had in a long time! The portions are huge, so you'll definitely leave full and happy. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and made with care, from the main plates to the little details. The service was friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. This place was a delight. From the kind gentleman that opened the door for us and seated us to the young man that took our order and topped off our coffee. MY wife and I are from San Antonio TX. Every time we come to Dallas we stop at Maple Leaf Diner. The food is alway amazing, made to order and hot!!!! Oh and do. Forget about their coffee. The coffee is nectar of the GODS!!! This time on our last visit we stopped on Saturday and Sunday and more than great food we had Amazing SERVICE! Our servers were Bobby and Mauricio. Yum! We had to wait around 15-20 minutes for a table mid-morning but it was very worth the wait. We tried a few of their options and were very satisfied with the quality and taste of the food. I loved the Southern poutine (I love the gravy) and couldn't stop eating it even when I was full. The pizza burger was interesting but I would prefer to get something else next time (especially if I could order the fried mushroom balls they put on top of the burger because they were very, very good). Went here to grab a quick bite. I was craving something smothered in brown gravy and I knew this was the place! This review isn't necessarily about my food, which was good, it's more so about the service I received! Lucas was timely and attentive as my server! While he was busy - he never rushed me. Aaron was the hostess that sat me and he too was very attentive and apologetic for the wait and even came back to make sure I was comfortable with the seat I was in and didn't want a larger table. I was eating solo and my little table was just fine. They worked together quickly to move thru the lunch rush. I wasn't feeling well and actually left without my togo order...didn't even realized until I see Lucas running out the door looking around...I roll my window down and still didn't realize the food he was trying to deliver was actually my order! My family and I came to this diner at the recommendation of a redditor and, let me tell y'all, they did not lead us astray! The diner is decorated with various Canadian flags and mementos, and it all made for a rather quaint ambiance! The food is also incredible and the portion sizes were rather large! The chocolate chip pancakes were some of the best I have had in a long while! The French toast was also the right amount of flakey and the addition of the strawberries and cream made it even more delicious! We're bringing our slice of Canada to Dallas! Owner Michael Delaurier (an experienced restauranteur from Windsor, Ontario Canada) couldn't find food in his wife's Dallas hometown that felt like home hence he opened Maple Leaf Diner and brings a little slice of Canada to Dallas. Mike serves up traditional homemade diner delights like pot roast, burgers, chicken fried chicken and made-from-scratch pies as well as his homemade Canadian favourites like Poutine (fresh cut french fries topped with cheese curds and smothered in homemade gravy), PeaMeal Bacon (the REAL Canadian Bacon), Cabbage Rolls, Poutine, and Butter Tarts.

Meet the Business Owner: Mike D.

Mike Delaurier, an experienced restauranteur native to Windsor, Ontario Canada, opened Maple Leaf Diner in 2015 because he couldn't find food in Dallas that felt like home. Mike is a third-generation restauranteur trained to cook in the kitchens of his prominent Southern Ontario food family.

I think more noise abatement measures could be taken to absorb some of the obtrusive loudness we were getting. For a starter, we ordered the Calamari. It was fried perfectly and was great, but the Thai Sticky sauce was too sweet and the consistency of the sauce was thin. It needed something to make it more viscous, and a secondary sauce, like a marinara or even an aioli would've been nice to balance out the sweetness of the Thai sauce. For an entree, I ordered the Maple- Ginger Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and itself was delicious, but the sauce was too sweet and rich. The fired rice that accompanied my meal was over-the-top salty. It was almost going into "too much" territory. For desert we split the Passion Fruit Ice Cream Pie. This was actually very good and not overly sweet. It was my favorite item from my meal. Overall Renny's truly employs a lot of care and attention to the food, but some of the items crossed a line into "too much" territory. Be it sweetness or saltiness, the kitchen could exercise a bit of restraint to let the flavors of the food shine.

This pita was way over saturated in their butter/oil, and crisped up to the point there were burn marks and char on every piece. Horrible pairing with hummus and JOEY should know it. I feel these other reviews may be fake honestly as the prices are insane and the execution quite poor. Be careful. $45 for a $15 meal isn't worth it. For an entree, I got the fish tacos. They were stellar, and I enjoyed every component, from the chipotle tortillas to the fried fish- it was excellent! It also came with a chilled orzo salad with a basalmic dressing- it was so refreshing and was just as good the next day as part of my leftovers. The food itself was still good, which is why I'm giving it three stars, but between the uncomfortable seating, tiny table, and lack of attentive service, it wasn't a very pleasant dining experience overall.

My wife and I got word of this 2 nights after they opened. We've since been back 6 times, and will continue to do so. I'll cut to the chase: If you work in restaurants and know the biz, these guys need your help. I don't think they expected this volume of business, and they're SEVERELY understaffed. It's been a lifetime since I worked a restaurant, front or back of house, and although I now have a solid career in IT, I am tempted to throw on an apron and hell, just bus tables if that's what they need. I love this place that much. If you go on a weekend, expect a wait. They're serving amazing food at low prices, and word has already gotten out - the last time we went for a Sunday breakfast, the place was packed to the gills, and the wait was about 40 minutes. In that time, I could tell that the front of house staff were "in the weeds," due to too many tables to take care of. Even with the manager hustling his butt to help. All of that said, once you're seated, expect some fantastic grub. The first night we went, they were still doing a BBQ Ribs platter with shrimp that blew my socks off. The ribs were succulent, in a blueberry maple BBQ sauce, and finding out they retired this dish disappointed me sorely. Fortunately, they have lots of other fantastic food. 6 visits, and we've been working our way through the menu. EVERYTHING is fantastic. All plates are a fulfilling amount of food, and delicious at that. The Poutine is a must-try, but any appetizers you order here, you should plan on splitting with at least one more person. The fried mushrooms are the best I've ever had. The Corn Dip is another one I would recommend highly, and the onion rings, my god, the onion rings are food of the gods. For entrees, anything fried is their strongest point. I have recommended that several of our first-time dining partners at this place order the Flagship Chicken Sandwich, or the Pizza Burger. For breakfast, the Chicken & Waffles plate is a feast, and the Eggs Benedict is some of the best I've had in my entire life - with real back bacon! Not "Canadian Bacon" (ham)! The Fish & Chips is a great entree, and I haven't had a burger here that I didn't love. I'd say leave room for dessert, but it's unlikely that you will - just get a slice of pie to go! All in all, at affordable prices, this restaurant serves up outstanding food, but needs a little more staffing. Hopefully, that'll get fixed, because I plan on returning to this restaurant often. read more

Ohhh buddy, let me tell ya--this place is an absolute beauty, eh! So I popped into the Maple Leaf Diner down in Dallas, and I gotta say, it felt like I'd been teleported straight to the Great White North... just with a bit more Texas sunshine, eh? First up, the pirogies--holy moly, these little pockets of joy were just unreal. Perfectly soft, stuffed to the brim, and fried up just right. I'm pretty sure if my tasted these, she'd give a polite nod and say, "Not bad, eh?" Then came the pot roast poutine, and let me tell ya--this isn't just food, it's a life experience. You've got those crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds (as they should be, eh!), and gravy so rich it could probably pay rent in Toronto. And then--BAM--tender pot roast on top. I nearly stood up and sang "O Canada," no joke. Now the Canadian Eggs Benedict? Ohhh, beauty. The peameal bacon was thick, juicy, and cooked just right, sittin' pretty under those poached eggs with hollandaise sauce that was smoother than a fresh sheet of ice. Absolute perfection, eh. I just happened across Maple Leaf Diner last month and it was fantastic! I found a reason to go back 2 more times in December as well! Lot of typical dishes mainly from Canada, a good sample of their eating habits. Very tasty and not to expensive. Good portions. e enjoyed every minute of our meal. The staff is super friendly, the owner stopped by to check on us and make sure we were happy, and everything was perfect. I decided to indulge instead with their Salmon Benedict, which is served with two latkes and a bowl of fruit. The salmon was delicious, tender and melted in my mouth like butter. Served on crispy toasted English muffins, with perfectly poached eggs, and a sinful amount of decadent hollandaise sauce. This was my first time visiting Maple Leaf Diner!! It was such a unique Canadian gem, with lots of unique items on the menu. I probably wouldn't have ever looked in the direction of this place... it's Canada themed first of all - like who has ever heard of Canada being known for their amazing food? It's kind of ducked off, in a strip mall. If you blink you'd miss it. I was impressed by the interior, they made it look really nice inside. The staff was friendly and welcoming. NOW, THE FOOD. My oh my. Highly impressed. We got their famous chicken bacon and waffles, chicken Parmigiana, and flag ship chicken sandwich. Started with the beef and cabbage soup, and poutine. All dishes were delicious. Huge portions too! The soup was so hearty and delicious. I could eat that every dang day. Our server was Genesis and she was a rockstar! She answered all of our annoying questions with a smile on her face. She went above and beyond. Her recommendations were on point, she anticipated our needs, and brought us dips and things we would've never thought to ask for. This place was AMAZING. They have seating outside for waiting guest. The customer service was helpful, informative , fast and friendly. The wait was about 20 to 30 minutes around 8:30 a.m but when we left the wait was one hour and 15 minutes. It was worth the wait. I had the steak , Canadian bacon and waffle which was delicious. I never had Canadian bacon which was the best thing on the plate next to the steak. The steak is fried which was different and my husband had chocolate chip pancakes with bacon . He said it was well worth and it is a chocolate fix. Before the breakfast we ordered a bowl of fruit which was freshly cut every morning. Sorry no picture of the fruit but it was fresh and good. We also had almond joy and chocolate pie to go. I preferred the chocolate one but the almond joy had toasted coconut on it. We had such a great experience at Maple Leaf Diner! You can tell right away that everyone here actually enjoys what they do. The staff worked together like a real team, helping each other, smiling, and making sure every table was taken care of. Everything ran smoothly, and the service felt genuine and effortless. The owner (Mike) even came by our table to introduce himself and check that we were happy with our meal, you don't see that much anymore, and it really made the experience feel personal. The place was super clean, from the dining area to the bathrooms, which honestly says a lot about how they run things. The food was amazing, everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. After having this diner recommended to me by a dear friend, I opted to take my wife out for a little breakfast. And I must say we were wowed from the start! Not only did the hostess have exceptional recommendations, but the service could not be better! Even at a peak rush time, our server Christina was all smiles and joy! Her further recommendation of the flagship chicken sandwich was so good, I simply had to give it a try. And the mention of imported beer certainly didn't hurt! I have to say it was easily the best (and BIGGEST) chicken sandwich I've found in Dallas! My wife had the diner special breakfast, and the amount of food was great for the price. She particularly loved the pumpkin waffles and cream puff - a wonderful addition to a diner classic! Our experience here for the first time has certainly turned us into long-term customers! This place was amazing from being able to get on the waitlist ahead of time, friendly host/hostess, big front area with seats right outside to wait if you're on the waiting list, and now let's begin. The menu is large and in charge. Plenty of great selections and choices for all. Great Canadian whiskey sour, and my friend said the Bloody Mary was great (that big piece of bacon appeared to top it off). We split the pot roast poutine -big plate of goodness ! Canadian eggs Benedict - great flavors, and there's some real Canadian bacon for you. I wish I could've sopped the rest off the plate but do try to mind my table manners. This Diner is a GEM!!! Having family from Canada from my side I fell in love with the friendly Canadian atmosphere! Reminded me of when I visited Toronto many a times!!! The service was exceptional and the food quality was amazing! My husband had the Canadian bacon eggs Benedict and he told me that real Canadian bacon was used, not the round slices you see at the store. He also loved the Belgian waffles... Five stars times one hundred. Popped in this evening for a great meal. Ordered the Canadian Rueben with fries and was very impressed. Great flavor, lots of fresh meat. Tremendous value. What was even more impressive was the manner in which my server, Christina, responded to my rapid blood sugar drop. What could have turned into a serious event was thwarted by Christina's rapid thinking and suggestion to bring over a small glass of orange juice. When I agreed, a transporter could not have had the juice appear any more rapidly. Just what I needed. The Rueben was great. The attentive and quick thinking of Christina is above awesome. We stopped by at this restaurant for brunchfor, and overall, I was impressed. Friendly staff to boot and my irish corned beef breakfast dish was cooked to perfection and arrived promptly. The portion size was generous, and the flavors were well-balanced. However, I did try their Irish Coffee, which was a bit of a letdown. At $10, I expected a more premium experience, but the drink was just average. The whiskey flavor was somewhat overpowered by the coffee, and the whipped cream topping felt like an afterthought. Despite the Irish Coffee misstep, I would still recommend this place for breakfast/lunch. Their food is tasty, and their service is top-notch. The place was busy, but they kept things moving smoothly. The staff was super friendly and attentive, checking in often without being overbearing. Big plus in my book! I went with the waffles topped with chicken strips and sausage, and wow--it was a lot of food. Definitely enough to fill you up, and the mix of sweet and savory really hit the spot. Ate here today for three second time and was so impressed once again. Our server Genesis was super friendly and helpful and she communicated my mom's very specific bacon order perfectly to the chef. We had the chicken fried chicken breakfast, side of bacon Extra extra crispy, pierogies with side of country gravy and blueberry pancake. Added a blueberry cream cheese scone because why not? Everything was cooked perfectly and so delicious. Make she to ask for butter with pancakes though since it doesn't come with any if that's your thing. Loved it! Amazing food and service! We joined the wait list via Yelp and checked into the restaurant at our designated time and our table was ready! We didn't have to wait at all! We were seated immediately and greeted by our server. I had not come here since before COVID and I was extremely impressed with their current safety measures- everyone seated is 6 feet apart and there are decorative panels separating tables. My usual order was no longer on the menu, but I asked our waitress and she said they could make it, no problem! Our food came out less than 10 minutes later! Absolutely Amazing. I walked in with no idea of what was about to hit me. My friend Tasha got the Chicken, Bacon, and Waffles featured in Paula Deen Magazine. I got the Pot Roast Poutine. Our friend Morgan got the Southern Poutine. (All three items boxed in purple in attached images of menu.) For my first time trying poutine I was mind blown, they flavors are all captured very well in both of their poutines we tried. The service was good and our waitress was the sweetest! I visit Dallas once a year for comic con and everytime I go, I HAVE to go to the Maple Leaf Diner. I was born and raised in Canada and came to the states 10 years ago. Going to the Maple Leaf Diner is like returning home. The food is amazing, the people are fantastic, and when they heard i was Canadian they were so amazing to me! I ate their Chicken-fried steak poutine, had a butter tart and Nanaimo bar for dessert and washed it all down with a Moosehead beer. It was like I was back home on Lake Simcoe hanging with my friends and not thousands of miles away in the heat of Texas. This place is the BEST place for weekend brunch! My husband and I always recommend this place to friends visiting, it is just that good. The waiting in line via Yelp app feature is sooo convenient and helpful especially on weekends where there are long brunch lines everywhere in DFW. The food and drinks are PHENOMENAL. He came over, gave us excuses for the waiter (I told him to take his break because he had been working nonstop since morning) and he looked at the payment machine but did not remove the tip. I ended up just paying it because after seven minutes of his excuses and inactivity I was fed up, and will dispute the charge on my credit card. Managers should make things right, not excuses. In a restaurant where there are absolutely no other customers it is inexcusable to have lousy service. When I asked him for a business card he said there wasn't one. Oh... and they insist on a physical credit card, because (fill in his next feeble excuse) he told me if I didn't have my card then I could pay him to his personal Cash App account.
