Love me some Mexican foods!!! Brother's choice and it was good. This place is on the Main Street of Santa Clara a bit hard to find but once you do they have a very small parking lot area to park if not you have to find some parking on the street. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once you step into this place it's a party really pretty decor the ambiance is really home feels[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have so many TVs surrounding the whole inside pretty cool and heard there's keoroke.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was amazing very attentive and always making sure we were good. Food and drinks were a hit everything taste so good. Thank you Playa Azul for your hospitality and great service

Came here on a Wednesday evening around 6pm for dine-in service, and we were the first ones in for dinner it seemed. Service was fine, although it would have been nice if they disclosed beforehand that they were ONLY accepting cash payments that day. My boyfriend had to run out to find an ATM. The food was lackluster. I had ordered a California roll based on another person's recommendation - and while you might think "that's what you get for ordering sushi at a Mexican restaurant" - I can't say in any shape or form that it was reflective of a California roll. It had no description on the menu beyond the word "California roll", so I was not expecting the overly sauced, deep fried cream cheese stuffed monstrosity that was delivered. I had 3 or 4 pieces and had to call it quits. My boyfriend had ordered a shrimp and beef dish plate. He said the shrimp was ok, the beef was overdone and chewy, and the beans were weirdly congealed. For $61 for our meal, this place was not worth it. We both agreed the best aspect of the place was the chips. Overall, strike out experience for us. Would not recommend.

not like anything I've had before! not due to being particularly good, but because it was clearly made with a Mexican palete in mind with no attention to a USA palete. the dish was very clearly very traditional. the wait staff had difficulty with English. First time coming here a couple of weeks ago. I love how there's plenty of seating inside and plenty of TVs around the restaurant. We went on a Sunday and they had football playing. We ordered from their breakfast menu and got menudo, pozole and caldo en birria. All of these were super flavorful, definitely authentic!! The server was super sweet and everything came out in a timely manner.

Came here because I was in the mood for delicious and authentic tacos. I saw online a few dishes that people loved. I ended up getting the surf and turf taco, which isn't on the menu, but you can definitely order it. They were FANTASTIC. I ordered 2 and I should have ordered 3 because they were so delicious. One I got with carne asada and the shrimp and the other with chorizo and shrimp. The guacamole on top was delicious as well. I only deducted a star because I also got rice and beans and they could have been a bit more flavorful, they were bland. But I WILL be back for those tacos next week!

I'm always looking for new places to have mariscos and this place did not disappoint. I do gotta say it's a a bit expensive than other places I've been, but honestly it was worth it. The shrimp empanadas were spot on, the sushi roll was humongous, the molcajete was beautifully presented and it looked and tasted just as good. I can't forget about those micheladas they were made just right to satisfy that craving I had, specially with the shrimp. Service was great very attentive, for some reason my Apple Pay didn't go through, but they were nice enough to let me Zelle them. Not the best ambiance, but if you like karaoke they got that going on in the evenings.

Today was our second time and was horrible! Never coming back, We order burgers, chicken nuggets and shrimp plates, well the burgers And one shrimp plate never made it , other guest got their food first when we were already waiting for over an hour, the kids tacos tortillas were super dry! Lots of tasty authentic Mexican seafood dishes here! They also serve Mexican sushi which was a unique find! The freshness of the dishes here can be tasted through each bite of seafood. My party and I loved their shrimp empanadas. Cheesy, savory, and super delicious outer shell. The Molcajete Mixto was the most memorable item we tried. Served piping hot and with a side of tortillas, beans, and rice, it made for the perfect shareable dish. All the meats in the dish were cooked and charred perfectly and the cheesy salsa in the middle added delicious flavor! It was also my first time trying Agua Chile; it reminds me a lot of ceviche. The seafood used was shrimp, which bursted with spicy-limey flavor. So juicy! Be careful with the aguachile rojo because the spice lingers for awhile. They also serve non-alcoholic micheladas; great for those who like beer & tomato juice. I was more of a fan of the shrimps that it came with. It was basically empty on a weekday at around 8PM, but I came by on a weekend once and it was completely packed. There's TV blasting in the background along with some music. Could be a great lively spot to watch the game + do karaoke with friends. Lovely service!

Service is amazing! Food is fantastic. 1st customers and we will return! The shrimp ceviche was very fresh! I don't like micheladas but their in-house mix is fire! All around delicious we also order the mix molcajeta and owner recommended a sushi roll was also very delicious.

Like most, you've probably seen the Mexican Sushi on Instagram! Lots of foodies have reviewed this place on their reels and I'm always wary of that but it looked intriguing enough so decided to give it a try. I ordered the Sushi Alambre and Mar Y Tierra (Surf & Turf) Taco. The sushi itself was definitely Instagram worthy, looks amazing and was GOOD but the bite became way too rich after a couple rolls. It basically was a deep fried rice roll (with some shrimp) with carne asada on top with two types of sauces. It's definitely worth a try, and I'd recommend that you get it to share as an appetizer! The Mar Y Tierra Taco isn't on the menu but it features a generously sized tortilla with melted cheese, shrimp, carne asada, and generous serving of avocado. This taco was really flavorful...I enjoyed it more than the sushi. If you forget the name, just call it the "Instagram Taco" and they'll know...it's featured on their reels alot. Other notes - complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch...this was very delicious! No liquor license, so they don't serve alcohol yet but it sounded like they will in the future. Service was great, no complaints there. Very limited parking in the lot, but you can find street parking if spaces aren't available. Overall, I'll give it a very solid 4. I enjoyed the food and ambiance enough and if I'm in the area, I would definitely consider eating there again. Not as mind blowing as I thought it would be, the sushi was definitely hyped up quite a bit by foodies on IG, but hey isn't that their job?! I'll be back when they serve beer!

Came here last night because i was craving some Mexican seafood. Wow this place did not disappoint! the food was absolutely bombbbb. We ordered the camarones a la diabla, tostada shrimp ceviche, aguachile verde, the sushi alambre, and the camarones rancheros. Everything was so flavorful, every single dish was a hit. Our server was very nice and all the workers are attentive. The food did take longer to come out (i just tell myself it's because they're making it from scratch). The ambiance isn't anything special, pretty typical of a typical Mexican restaurant. Our total came out to be around $120 with tip which is decent for seafood. I would 10/10 come back. Also we saw a couple tables order the molcajete, which also looked very tasty. The only about this place is that they dont sell alcohol. 5 star if the food came out faster

The food here was absolutely divine! The empanadas and the Molcajete are a must order. The owner is extremely kind and welcoming and I overall had a great time. I tried the majority of their Mexican sushi rolls and it was different from anything I have had before. There were many TVs in the area and I would recommend going here for any sports games. They also had a karaoke station which would be fun for weekend nights. Checkout this authentic Mexican place in San Jose! Highlights: EMPANADAS DE CAMARON 4/5 Crispy on the inside with a great cheese pull. Loved the sauce it came with as well! Great choice for an appetizer or side. MOLCAJETE MIXTO 5/5 The sauce on the inside was great and also featured a nice cheese pull. The fish and meat that adorned the sides were high quality and tasty. It was absolutely delicious and tasted great in a tortilla with beans, rice, and sauce provided. Could feed 2 people!

If I could rate this place zero stars i would. Each sushi roll was $25 and they said if we didn't like it we didn't have to pay for the roll and two of us didn't eat our rolls and we still paid for them. The food was mid. It's super pricey for the taste of the food. We asked for extra chips and salsa and we got charged for that but they didn't give us a heads up it would be $4. And then we got charged a $5 card fee and we were going to pay with cash. Just feel like this place is money hungry in our opinion. read more

Wow, when you think of hidden gems in San Jose, I'd never have imagined a Mexican restaurant, especially one on a street crowded with them. This is the only place in San Jose where you can eat a Molcajete and beef sushi roll. A molcajete is an iron pot with meats cooked around the bowl, with salsa and queso in the center. The owner, Kike, was super nice and friendly. He personally came over to ensure that we had a great experience. The restaurant was very empty on a weekday dinner, but gets very packed on weekends with a karaoke setup running as well. The Molcajete was incredible, we loved it. The sushi rolls was good too, but don't get it expecting authentic sushi. The two items was good to share between two people for a total cost of $75 after tax. Great experience overall, would return only for the molcajete and maybe try other items from the menu. read more

This was our first time here. Came based on an instagram we saw that looked amazing! But it's not that great. The rice and beans were cold and not our favorite. The oysters were not the greatest. We did get them plain for my son, but I mean they were grainy and well tasted straight out the ocean -which they are but dang! It's not our first time ever having these elsewhere. We ordered the mixed molcajate. It was runny. Like soup and had a ton, I mean a ton of cheese. The flavor is okay, but we were sadly disappointed. We do not plan on going back. Service was great. I came for the sushi and to surprise my husband with a new menu and restaurant to try. I was surprised they also have an assortment of delicious pasta choices. Everything was amazing and a great family restaurant. We also tried the oysters and the molcajete. All extremely yummy! There are so many things to try. I will be back. The 30-minute drive was worth it. The owner is lovely, cheers to him, the staff & the cooks are amazing! =) read more

My family and I wanted a different type of brunch today. My son wanted crab so we found this fairly new restaurant in downtown San Jose, CA. We ordered a seafood platter for 2 with crab legs, 2 types of shrimp, whole fish fillet and mussels. The dish was causally interesting and full of variety of flavors and textures. It was simply mouth-watering delicious and perfect for father and son to share. My husband also ordered shrimp cooked with sweet peppers and onions. It came with rice, refried beans, and tortilla. Came here with my parents for Cinco de Mayo. Food was okay but way too EXPENSIVE! The sushi was not great. I do not think this place will last a long time because nobody is going to pay $30 for a dish after all the Covid free money has stopped. read more

Let me start by saying that this place was great! The restaurant is very clean, well lit and spacious. The customer service was excellent. I had the sushi alambre and my girlfriend had their tacos you have to request for with shrimp, guacamole and carne asada. We both agree they were bomb selections, so I definitely recommend those dishes to anyone. Overall I'm glad we had seen this place on Instagram and took a chance on trying it out, sure enough it surprised us with how good it was. The food portion was very little and seemed in a hurry when served, food was everywhere on the plate. The service was horrible was seated within a decent time then took 20 minutes just to get a menu and had to ask for chips after that it took 45 more minutes just for us to get our food. read more

This place is a gem! The Food was amazing! As a Mexican it's hard to find a restaurant that has authentic Mexican food with a lot of flavor. Also, on one of the dishes that I ordered which was the molcajete mixto I didn't want tilapia so the gentleman asked if I wanted to substitute the tilapia with more chicken and he did it. I thought that they would charge me extra because in other restaurants they have when I substitute the item I don't want but they did not charge me extra. They had fantastic and excellent service which made the experience 1000 times better. They also have Asian fusion options! Fantastic ambience with music videos playing on screens and they also had a floor to wall screen. As we were leaving they let us know that they were going to start Karaoke. You will not regret coming here! Although they don't have alcoholic beverages the beverages they do have are delicious and you can taste the natural flavor of the fruits in them. read more

Waited for a long time for my food, they took my order wrong for not having people. Husband aguachiles were extremely salty and sushi was so basic and expensive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tables were sticky and gross and bathrooms were not clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Super michelada was just spicy no flavor. read more

After reading some yelp reviews i wanted some authentic Mexican food and saw this as my top choice since i was around the area. We even saw the pictures outside the restaurant and we were convinced on what we wanted. As we walked in we noticed all the surfboards as tables and a sign that said surfing waves or something about surfing. That already felt off. We sat down and as she took our drink order we where ready to order. My husband ordered a 7 mares and I ordered the empanadas de camaron. The restaurant had like 2 other families but majority of the area was empty. Ambiance was old school Mexican music los Bukis and after we where eating it seemed like a dj arrived and change the music to older romantic music. Service was okay wish we didn't have to keep trying to call her attention for simple things like napkins. The 7mares was flavorful but we didn't like that this had broccoli and peas with shedded carrot. Never had a 7 mares with these veggies it's usually potatoes or whole carrots. The pictures outside need to be updated because i also did not get the small empanadas I instead got 3 big ones and they where not crispy. No avocado like it's displayed just 3 empanadas and a small dip. read more

First of all, they got my order wrong for a simple steak and cheese quesadilla. Asked them for no tomato or onion, they put tomato. Mostly all the meat was just fat. They put mayo in my quesadilla?? Very poor service. First time at this place, and the first service was a bowl of stale chips. Asked the waitress twice to exchange the chips, and both times rude behavior and stale chips. It's unfortunate, my wife and I were looking forward for this place. read more

Don't waist your time here go else where .Me and my wife were looking forward to the food here we get there no one greets us.Finally they sit us down I order a michelada tasted like water down beer and tomato juice .We order our food and the server tells us it's about a 45 min wait .There are 3 other families that sat down and ordered food after us and we see them get their food first after an hour of us waiting so unorganized understaff wish I would have read the reviews first. read more

It was weird--I could see the garlic and was literally eating it, yet there was no garlic flavor. The garlic noodles used to be one of my favorite items because they were bold and packed with garlic. Now they've definitely toned the flavor down, and they're just not the same anymore. It's honestly disappointing because this place used to be one of my favorite seafood spots. The food quality has clearly declined while the prices have continued to go up. Excuse me? There was a credit card surcharge of 3% applied? I wasn't made aware of this surcharge when I ordered. Why are we expected to pay this cost? It ripped apart easily when pulling. The coleslaw was ok. I might get the mac and cheese or beans next time. My wife ate the baked potato and ate most of it. I tried a little bit where it was just the potato and it was not overcooked and not too undercooked. It was easy to scoop with the fork without too much effort. If you are in the area and craving for BBQ, I highly recommend trying this place. The portion is not as big as BBQ joints in Texas or KC but they are on par with the ones around San Jose. The pricing is decent and like I mentioned, is also on par to San Jose pricing. If you have a big group, there are plenty of tables to accommodate folks. The location is close to the highway so that's a plus. The staff is very helpful and will give you a good recommendation if you are debating on what to order.

My expectations were already low as I'm not usually into tapas style (aka small portion but expensive and possibly mediocre food) but boy was I wrong. All of the food that we ordered was genuinely so good. I still think about the BUCATINI (tom yum butter, lime, garlic and basil) and would solely come back for that dish. The portion sizes were on the smaller side but it is tapas, we had a group of 8 hungry people so that was on our part lol Overall, would recommend and come back to try some of their other dishes and wine! super cute for date night
